Yup, I second that. Great app, and works great across builds. I just migrated from FroyoStone v3.1 to the FroyoHD beta and all my apps, messages etc were transferred.

is the free version enough?? or do i have 2 buy the pro one??

and if so.. how do i make a system copy with it? lool the tool is complicated!

Free version is fine, it's what I use.
http://matrixrewriter.com/wiki/tiki-index.php <-- 5 seconds on google took me to the wiki which is what I used to learn how to operate the software.

I'd recommend paying the small amount for the full version. With the lite version you have to click "install" and "done" for most apps when you restore. I had over 200 apps on my last restore so that would have taken quite a while!

just copy the current date.img to the new Android .

Nexus One Root/unroot and space pls help

Ok fellas! Im new to this world of android just bought a newsu one last night Its used and rooted. I installed bunch of apps and after a bit it gave me an alert of low space/memory. Never had this with my x10 . so i was wondering may be its cus o the root if yes? Do u recmnd unrooting to clear space? And in case of unrooting any help /guide would be much appreciated.
Also i saw the update alert ast night fo 2.2.1 but when i tried to update it it wa stuck on a black screen with a android(green guy) and a exclamation mark. so i r/s the phone again and ignore the update anyhelp. please...
Thanks a bunch.
The ROM would effect the lack of space, but having root shouldn't. It more likely the apps though.
Just try moving some apps to your SD (menu> settings> applications> manage applications... sort by size [menu key], then select an app. In each app there's an option to move to SD. Some will move, some won't)
There's plenty of discussions on the update, but it's probably failing because you're not stock...

First, decide if you want the update, or if you want a custom ROM...
I've not tried the update, so I can't make any recommendations.

Ok so i got loaded 2 different htc sense roms last night both from here:
http://theunlockr.com/downloads/android-downloads/android-roms/nexus-one-roms/
Both of them were awesome, right now I have the mdaco one, but the there are few problems.
*. Showed still on 2.1 in setting.
*. GPS isn't locking.
*. Bluetooth isnt working.
*. When Im trying to lock the phone by pressing the power button it locks but wont go to sleep(back light is still on).
*. Power button won't work if i try to shutdown/put phone on vibrate/airplane mode/.
so far these are the problems im facing.
Does anyone nows a better stable Sense ROM?? Please advise.. Thanks.

Easy way to get your apps back in a new android version!

I'm really irritated by the fact, that when I install a new android version, that I always have to install all my apps app by app.
It might sound like a logic and stupid solution, but in the Android map, there's a submap called AndroidApps(or Android Apps).
Put all your apps you want to have on your new android version, and you have them back with first start!
Let me know if it works with all the android version. For the Mdeejay Desire Z 1.1 version it worked!
And excuse me for my bad English, still learning!
I already know that, and yes that will work. But i use titanium backup for that, because it also backups the system settings for the apps. So you do not have to configure them again

mybackup pro also works very well and is a lot easier for begginers than titanuim backup.
but tb is a brilliant backup app and works very well for me
Ok, so where do you get these apps again? Are they apps?
On the market, they are not free, but it is every penny worth of it.

Yes, As I said you can download your apps from another site so you have the apk's. And then put it in the folder.
I recently upgraded my Android build from MDeejay's HD v3.4 to 3.6 and left all folders on the SD card from the previous build, just replacing the Android folder and all my apps restored themselves once I opened the Market. First time I've left all the program folders on when changing versions but will be doing this going forward as found titanium backup can corrupt some versions and isn't recommended with some. Takes 2mins to re-sign in to apps.
Titanium backup free works for me, but I believe if you keep the data.img when you change Roms (a new one is created on first boot), all your apps and settings will carry across.
Worked for me.

Someone please answer this, it's been a big problem...

This has been a real concern since the first day I got my phone, someone please answer this. If I want to switch from a non sense build to a sense build is there anyway I can backup or restore all my application data? Because I did so much I don't wanna lose it...

Would have made more sense if you had titled your topic with the question really. Titles are meant to be descriptive and makes searching topic titles better for people who are trying to aks same question as it narrows down search results.
It depends on if you are using a SD or a NAND build.
If its a SD build then you simply copy your data.img file over to new build. If its NAND then you still have thsi option if its one that uses a data.img but you can also use a app like Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro etc or maybe clockwork recovery I think, not sure about last as I haven't tried it yet.
well i think it is kind of impossible to change from a nonesense to sense but if you want to back up your applications mybackup pro does it for you
but there is a little problem that every time i tried this i got the eror "cannot unzip the package"
otherwise it should work
Titanium backup is the most advanced backup app in my opinion, and it's from XDA memeber. Be careful about what you restore nonetheless, since system apps must not be replaced by those from other builds whose version is different.

This is incorrect. They will not work going from non sense to sense, and usually won't work going from builds by different chefs, sense or not. Titanium backup is the best way to go regardless of build type

As above 2 posts...
Titanium Backup is great, but one word of advice...
It's worth the pennies for the paid version. Why? With the free version, when you do a restore of your apps you have to confirm every installation with a button click, and then again when it's done. That can be VERY boring! (Obviously depends how many apps you're restoring.)
With the paid version you can just click "restore apps & data" and it does it all for you, with no further intervention needed.
Alright, cool. I think i got the info i needed. Thanks guys

A few questions about Custom rom's.

I know this is the wrong section but I got some kind of feeling that there are more people looking in this section.
I have read some guides in the Development section (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537'
But I got some questions about rooting/S-off.
Why is rooting/S-off necessarily, why can't I just put the rom on my SD and go right into recovery mode and boot it up from there?
Also the program visionary plus, I hate that thing so much.... At this step:
Open Visionary and tap temproot, then attempt permroot now. Your device will reboot.
How the hell do I open it? I use Astro File manager or something to go to the file but I can't install the program on my mobile/SD card >.<
Also what do I need to do more besides Wiping my phone? In this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11557769
It says to flash a Radio is this a must? Or is the S-off/Root enough.
Thanks already

No, the DHD has a protected system which precludes overwriting the system partition so without S-OFF you can not make any permanent changes.

Don't use it then the instructions here, achieve root without the use of visionary.

Actually all of the roms now are running Gingerbread, and sense roms are on sense2.1 (With some sense3.0 elements).
My bad, when I was choosing which rom to load yesterday, everything i read said AR was still 2.2. Must have been old threads.
Thanks guys I now know enough

just for the record, nobody can help you based on this information. you need to quote the error message.
Haven't tried CM7 but if you haven't already flashed a rom I'd give a big thumbsup for Leedroids GB rom, very quick, stable and flashed like a dream

+1 for this. definitely give LeeDroid a go if you can. admittedly, it's the only custom one i've used to date (and for less than 24 hours at that), but i can't rate it high enough compared to the branded rom i got in the first place. amazing!

There is no error message. I just can't find a 'exe' or AKP file which will install the program on my SD/Mobile.
@ Above,
No, I haven't flashed a ROM yet since I heard there are some problems with ClockWorkmod of ROM Manager so I am going to wait for a few days xD

sorry to hear that. it's news to me, though. i downloaded it (CWM), and used it last night in the process of flashing the rom, no issues. but i understand the whole 'there may be issues, so i think i'll wait - don't want to brick my phone' line of thought. good luck when you get there. i'm sure you'll be fine if you follow the various guides posted on here. they worked an absolute treat for me (and i'm the definition of n00b).

So basically I'm screwed? Since I need to downgrade to root, and to backup you need to have root >.< but when you downgrade you lose everything xD
I will try it tonight ._.
If you want to back up the new GB OTA ROM then yes but if you just want to back up your apps then No, you don't need root.
Titanium works with root but doesn't need it. Also, if you ticked to let Google keep a backup then your apps will be re-downloaded when you next perform a wipe.

Using Windoze is great....
One word for you: Linux.
At the risk of high jacking this thread, have you installed HTC Sync? Can you connect to HTC Sync? If not, try another USB port (if using front port use back ports or vice-versa). If none work uninstall HTC Sync and reinstall it after rebooting PC.
If that works when you are in adb (making sure USB Debugging is on) try
Code:
adb devices
Do you get a result?

copy your sd card files over to pc which includes all your backup of titanium onit, once you have flashed rom, formatted sd etc and new rom is installed get titanium backup back off the market copy your sd files back and then restore but if you are changing roms completely and not doing an update id recommend just doing a back up of your apps because if you restore over your existing settings it may corrupt the rom (NOT TO SURE NOT TRIED IT MYSELF)
Very thanks for all good roms & answers.can you help me too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16145088#post16145088
