After installing UVJI6 (I received it OTA), I am unable to see some apps from the market, in particular, ones that I use frequently. Is there a way to fix this or has someone found some sort of documentation from Samsung/TMobile on this?
Thanks!

Yes, I've seen others report this though I don't recall seeing a fix. I'm still a little annoyed at how long the swipe needs to be now to unlock the screen.

I did search and didn't see it. Would you mind sharing the link if you've seen it?
The answer is easy: Google/Samsung haven't authorized the latest updates Market yet. When they authorize it the missing applications will show up. You will have the same missing apps if you go through Kies, OTA, or Odin. You can put a hack in place to get around it but I would not recommend it. The hack causes your market to identify itself as JFD instead of JI6. In theory that could cause missing new apps in the future.
Have you tried the Android 2.2 style Market app on Vibrant?
@spiz516, I also had the same problem after using ODIN to perform my update (following a failed OTA push). I like kmfisher's answer. But if you absolutely can't wait, and you are rooted, here's how you can do it:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804763
See post #24.
After I performed this fix, I was able to see a few missing applications. However, I also noticed that this also brought back a horrible Market application lag. So, I will probably send it back since I've downloaded the two applications I needed that were market locked.
Good Luck!

Awesome, thank you for the response. Much appreciated!
Clear Cache too. I don't have any worse lag, this has nothing to do with anything that would break something like market speed besides old cache maybe.

i wished i hadent updated now. It removed a bunch of apps for the market. even ones i have already paid for. alot of good ones at that. i read its about copy right stuff. this is crazy and i may go back to previous version, was having no issues and see no benefit to the new update. please tell me if anyone knows if this is temporary thing or how its going to be.
hmm, I used google checkout to buy my apps and my paid ones steill read paid of the market

Reboot your phone.
ok trying reboot and some of mine that i paid for are showing up. i pay through google everytime.. alot of the free ones are gone. one i really loved was imusic and imeem. im using fresh rom with the mr. thinking of going back to before the mr. cant even find power manager pro and i paid for it. the regular one is on there. this is bs!!! there are sites to download all apps free i heard. i would hate to have to go that rout, but i paid for these apps and i want them.

Not you buddy. The other guy that said he wasn't having any problems. That's why I quoted him.
I have the same issue. I've been flashing back the stock rom installing my purchased software then updating , then rooting the phone. but once I reboot that last time. a couple disappear for good.
When I first got my Hero a few weeks ago wanted to download the imeem app because I'd heard it was really good. No matter what I did I couldn't find it in the Market. This is before the MR update. So I don't think your problem is the MR update itself but that Google removed some apps from the Market and you simply didn't notice it until after the update.
what is the benefit of the update. i have seen none. i may goto the fresh rom with no mr update. i also heard of people having problems with bluetooth streaming after update. so as far as i can see the mr update is more trouble that its worth. am i correct..

From what I've heard the MR update bluetooth issue is a problem with the custom roms. Folks who've updated non-rooted devices are working fine.
I'll be able to confirm this is a little. Just wiped back to 1.29, ran the MR update and re-rooted.
As for the MR being more trouble than it's worth...It's supposed to fix a memory leak and SMS battery drain issue. Those are pretty big. I'll update once I know more re BT audio streaming.
well i have to find a place to get my apps back. i bet its missing half of mine i paid for and atleast that many that i didnt. that is a big issue to me more than issues i was having before.
I just found this:

Looks like we'll be waiting for a fix to fix our broken fix!
its not just paid apps. ebuddy isnt onthere and its free. imusic is gone. and some otheres.
Here is what you have to do to get them back.
You have to go back to Sprints Original Rom before the update. It will un-root the phone, but big deal we love messing with this stuff anyway. After you are back to the first software version, go to the market and download and install all your apps paid or free. You can then do one of two things. You can either root the phone now and use Root Explorer to save your paid for apps on your SD card then start the process over, or you can then upgrade to the MR. Once I did that my apps were still in the market, but I went the long route just in case. Now you can root the phone and do a nandroid Backup which should have all your paid apps there in case they go away again. I have mine safe on my SD card now so if they do go away I can install them anyway.

UPDATE: Bluetooth streaming is working on stock Sprint rom with MR update. Apps are missing for the App Store though.
...and I'm not sure Sprint is to blame for this. Seems that the Eris is also not showing paid apps.
Check this - http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/134659;jsessionid=4B9490DD6362F12D2CE9F64E3AD3559C.app3jive1
It suggests it's a copy protection issue.
Hi,
After downloading few free applications in my hero, some pictures and ads started popping out every few seconds in my screen. Mostly pictures of the Android depiction doing some stuff like eating or visiting places like Paris and stuff. Also, some advertisement to download videos.
How can I stop this from happening? Is there a virus scanner or a spam blocker I can use?
Please help.

Can't you just go into market and uninstall the apps you added?
Failing that, connect via adb and use adb shell to remove the apk files (presuming you're rooted).
If you aren't rooted or don't know about adb, ask or search. There are antivirus things available, but I'd just remove the apps.
Also, if you find the offending app, post its name here so others can avoid it (only if you find out which one).

Thank you for your reply.
Well, I was not sure which program installed this thing in my phone, so I un-installed all software that I downloaded. However, that did not resolve the issue. I still have the same problem.
Any advice?
Thank you..

Backup your contacts and other important media and factory reset the device maybe?
Thats a bit of a worry this! Not to scare you or anything, but that sounds like some form of virus/hijacking/trojan or something!
Why not install a "task killers" application and see if you can kill a particular process that is showing those ads.
If you find the right one, it might give you some indication what application created it - but do let us know if you do find out!
Or you can just write down the list of installed apps on your Hero here and then someone can take a look at the list?
Thank you guys. I found the problem, and it was due to the installation of a scientific calculator from the free market. Once I removed it, things went back to normal.
many thanks.
Do you fancy naming and shaming the app? Then no-one else will have to go through this again. Oh, and make sure you give it 1* and a negative comment on the market.
Perhaps we need an 'apps wall of shame' for any apps that do things such as this... Then we could look up any apps before downloading if they looked suspicious.

You might give us the name of the app so that others can get a chance to stay away from it?
I find the AdFree app invaluable in the fight againt annoying ads in other apps.

If you can't get the host file to download 1st time click Revert and then download the host file again. Should work.
So i am fairly new to root, to roms, to cooking, etc... (jumped the gun and was on leak 3 forever, got a refurb due to a cracked screen, which had leak 3 on it (go figure) so anyway, i'm cooking myself a rom, and i'm wondering, how would i link an app that i know is in the market (but i have pulled from my phone to put into this rom) back to the market, so it would receive updates. Like, i'm using Launcher Pro as my launcher, but it's not linked to the market, it's always going to be at version like 0.7.0.4 unless i manually update it... and i feel like there is a way to link it...
Any help appreciated, tried to search, but it was no luck.

The only thing i can think of is when there is a new update download it from the market, overwriting the app in itself, which will put it into the update loop. an educated guess but it may work. the only thing that might stop it is that it will be cooked in as a system app and i dont know if the market will let you overwrite it.
make sure the apk is installed to /data/app
and NOT /system/app
should update fine then
ok, yea i had tried to put apps in their before, but those apps have to be in com.domain.package.apk format... and then they automatically get linked to market, i have no idea any of the reasons for why any of this works, but it does, so thank you
Hi,
I'm at the end of my patience here. I've had all 3 of these roms installed, and they all work great, except that google earth NEVER shows up in the market. I found a google_earth.apk, and Installed it from ES File Manager, and it works except when I try to clear the cache, or change any of the layers. And on the first attempt it crashes but 2nd or more, it will work if no settings are changed. I've already tried to fix permissions in clockwork but to no avail. Any suggestions?
From what I've read by searching Google, I think Google actually removed this from the market for some reason.
EDIT: Either that or they've changed it to 2.2 and above only. Haven't used 2.2 yet so I'm not sure if its there or not.
well then I guess I should be happy with what works??? lol! But if anyone wants the file, here it is. See what you can do with it.

I'm on the 2.2 Beta and its in the market for me. so if you really can't locate it in the market then i would assume you are right in that its only for froyo now. in which case you can probably install an earlier version of google earth and run it without any problems. i'lll see if i can find one in one of my old backups somewhere if you would like.
I would really appreciate that!

I doubt that would work, since you have to connect to google servers to run the program and they force you to use the most current version.
Worst case scenario you will get it when the official 2.2 is out, won't be long.
randomly now it works without any problems. strange.
Probably put it 2.2 only for the size. I still have ir installed on 2.1 and it works fine, I can pull the apk later and pay it If anyone wants it.

I loaded up EB13 last night and had no issues until I started downloading my apps. I have Slingplayer that I purchased to watch my Slingbox on my phone while on the go. If I search the Market it is missing. At first I thought it was something with paid apps, but I noticed my other bought apps were listed. I also noticed Ringlert was not listed in the market...a free app.
If I login into the Market on a PC web browser I can find those apps with no issues. But it says I have them installed on my phone already. Umm..no I don't!
Anyone else having issues like this?
There seem to be some people, myself included, that are having issues with protected apps. I noticed that NYTimes is not showing up and neither is TMZ. I need to try a clean install and see if I still have the problem, I cannot tell if this issue is happening after a data restore from CMW, or if its a real bug. Did you do any data restore?
The problem is the market does not recognize this release as a legitimate. It will take a few days before it does. There is a fix you can apply if you search for it in the device section.

Kinda figured something like that... think that's the i9000 fingerprint fix or something like that.
Also, try to contact the developer of the app. They might be able to change something that might make it work.
Just for the Record, I'm having the same problem as well. I Installed the EB13 and Slingplayer isn't listed in the Market, I'll wait a few days to see what happens. Hopefully it's back in there cause I really don't feel like screwing around with crap.

I can not find it. I wish someone could post a link to it. And do I have to root the phone to use the this FIX?

And yes, you must be root to use this fix as you will be editing a system file (/system/build.prop).

Same problem. I have eight or so apps that I used to have that either can't see in the market after applying EB13, or that come up as "not found" on AppBrain now. Google customer service suggests that I reboot my phone. *sigh*

Slingplayer still missing. Missing on another phone that isn't rooted. He refuses to root his phone.
Clearing the cache won't help with this problem. It's on Google's side.
If you are rooted, you can always backup the apk file while on the old 2.1 or DK28 build when it showed up in the market, then reinstall by hand after loading EB13
This is now resolved for me.
