[Q] root without adb - G2 and Desire Z General

is temp-rooting the g2 without using adb possible?

Not at the moment. Without root in the first place, there's no way to create/run scripts or anything to attain root.

Thnx, mods feel free to delete anytime

Which method did you use?
I got my phone a few days ago (G2), followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928160 - had no problems with keeping root when I had stock rom, and running CM 7 nightly, still no issues.
If you can't keep root, sounds like you don't have perm root.
I used the original method posted by unforgiven.
I already have s off. But when I run temp root again it doesn't stick.

Visionary on stock 2.3.4

Hey guys,
Would running temp root through Visionary on my G2 with stock 2.3.4 do anything? I'm trying to find an easy root. I'm aware perm root bricks but what about temp root? Would it also brick or do anything at all?

There's nothing good to come from running visionary. On any phone.
If you want root, you can follow the downgrade, root, and flash pre-rooted 2.3 procedure.
That's your best bet visionary used to work but it was iffy at best go gfree to root its much safer

Visionary won't work with stock 2.3.4. I only know because I forgot to disable Visionary for 2.2, then upgraded to 2.3.4 and it (a) didn't do anything, (b) hogged the cpu.
Everything is fine now. It was just took a while. phew
Same thing happened here. Phone was slow and choppy until I uninstalled visionary.
Visionary is the devil. Don't use it or even mention the word to anyone you care about.

UCUEMJ6 OTA. Any help requested to root.

I got a used phone. Did not check the version. It has the ucuemj6 firmware. 4.3 update. When I use the new method to root by copying the pwn and the script file to the sd card, Knox and SE kicks in and the permission is denied to the shell. I tried killing various Knox and Se Android processes.
I tried running from adb shell. Again adb is denied permission.
But nothing works.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

This isn't an official version its a leaked version of mj6 the real update won't be out till 11/13/13. There's only one known method to root the device but was deemed not a safe way to root the device. I'll let you figure out the root method just READ and your answer will come.

Yes correct the bootlaoader has been locked since the mf3 firmware the previous firmware before this...safestrap is a work around that doesn't mess with the stock ROM slot and you are able to flash only 4.2.2 Roms with safestrap. Since your on the LEAKED version on 4.3 there is no other options at the moment besides rooting and the root apps like wanam xposed, xposed installer, nottach xposed. Etc. People on Verizon hasn't found anything yet about unlocking the boot loader so until the official 4.3 releases for us just check both the Verizon thread and our at&t thread.

Its not reccomended on xda but you can root the phone with VRoot but it installs a Chinese superuser into your phone. I've got it running with no problems so if you want to root it you can use the VRoot method

Root access

If I root and after I do it says that I don't have superuser access, do I need to unroot and try again. I used the ioroot method. The day before though I took the ota update. So from what I've read if you do so you can't get superuser access with this method. Also I will search for a way but could someone point me in the right direction to root properly.
Thanks

There is no working root after the oat installed at this time as far as I know so stay away from rooting and avoid soft brick.

Partial Galaxy root

Some time ago i rooted my s4 using cyanagen mod. The process ended with no problems. But, some apps that require root tell me it's not rooted and some do not. One that complains is ADB Manager.
Can anyone tell me what might have gone wrong and should I try to root again without restoring factory settings?
Thanks...
