I'm looking for an application that will search my local vicinity for cafes, banks, shops etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, but I cant seem to find that on Market?
I can see the one you mean too http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/travel/places-directory_mmk.html?nav=list
EDIT: Found the apk http://sites.google.com/site/placesdirectory/
Places should be an app on your phone if you have a stock desire
don't know if it's been removed form some of the custom roms
Another one worth looking at is called AroundMe

Works fine with me, Did you check all the steps listed on the site?
Hi
Thanks, finally solved my problem. I hadn't completed the full path for the location of the adb.exe file. Happily it is now working.
Cheers.

I've seen some of those apps going for a cheaper prize. Nonetheless, a great thing to share - Might even consider buying the Camera Zoom FX.

Just bought camera zoom fx, its definitely worth it. The only camera where the flash works properly and doesn't over saturate everything.
Also its the only camera app that works properly with the ICS ROM that I'm using

It's not called Android Market anymore, it's now the 'Play Store'. Lol. I just can't get used to it.

It was at the time of posting, meh its just a name change.
Instead of Android, you'll have "Google Play" referenced everywhere, another form of advertising.
thanks for the info

Thank you very much! I bought several apps.
For the past two weeks, I can't navigate, it keep saying searching for GPS. I'm on CoreDroid1.3.
I checked my friend's stock Android phone to see if hers works, it does the same thing. I'm wondering if Google is having issues in our area or what the heck?
Mine works well. Your phone only uses t-mobile's towers to get a coarse location, then refines it using satellites in SPACE. So I doubt it's google. Try running one of the myriad gps fix apps

Aren't easy fixes great?
Sent from my Glacier using XDA
Actually, when I searched and fixed the problem the first time, I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidlab.gpsfix&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hbmRyb2lkbGFiLmdwc2ZpeCJd
Because, I couldn't actually find Myriad GPS fix. The one I used spams ads. Which one are you using?

Erm...
myriad:
noun
1. a very great or indefinitely great number of persons or things.
2. ten thousand.
It's not the name of the app. I was using hyperbole to say there are a LOT of gps fix apps.
