Android market bug - Epic 4G General

Has anyone else had this? When I go to buy an app, it has me sign into my google account. Now I had to create a new one just for market purchases because I use google apps for your domain and that account won't work. That's all fine and good but it only works one time. After that it asks me to sign in again and I get "can not get a reliable data connection". The only way to fix it is to hard reset my phone. Is there any other way to fix this?

Paid apps on new Gmail account

I've searched a few times and can't really find much on this, but I'm about to root my G1 (the T-Mobile version) and that means fully wiping it. I've got a few apps including open home and SNesoid on there that are paid for and linked to a gmail account I'm wanting to get rid of. When I reinstall everything on the phone I want to use a fresh gmail account with a new user name but I'm not sure how I would get those paid apps transferred to that account. Anyone know of a way to do this?

Well there is no way you can get them from the market back because thats all linked to your account and with a new account you would have to buy them again. Make backups of all your apk's and for the protected ones pull them using adb.
If I am correct, all you have to do is "relink your market account to your "credit card" info and it should be there. :]
OK perfect. I will probably do both just to be safe. Thanks a lot.
There seems to be a method detailed in the thread here:

Technically the credit card is on your google checkout account, not your gmail account. And as long as you've paid for an app (and not refunded it) you should be able to get updates for it on that google account as long as the developer provides them.
ok thanks for that but would i still get the app updates if i cancel my google checkout account?

It's likely that when you attempt to redownload an app you had previously purchased but uninstalled that the market backend parses your google checkout account for a record of having purchased an app. Since there's no way currently to remove checkout from a Google account, there's probably no way you could get into a situation where your checkout history became unaccessible for the market backend.
Of course until someone has any actual experience in this matter, all I wrote above is just an educated guess.
I just flashed a new ROM and configurated it with my Google Apps Account.
Then I went to Market and searched for a app I had bought with my normal Google Account which is connected to Checkout.
Market asked me for a gmail Account because the Apps account does not work for buying at the Market and I entered the GMail account informations and still had to buy the app I still have bought before?!
How can I tell Market to show me the apps I still have bought? And yes, I bought it with the same credit card, I did not make any change at checkout
I would contact the developer of said app and explain the situation and provide your info and see if he will honor it. I don't see where a dev would have a problem sending you an apk providing you proved that you purchased it.
got it with with Tutorial:

market question

Hi, dunno if its a question for xda but here it goes.
I have had a gmail adres and bought stuff from market with. Now i changed google adres and cant see " my downloads" in the market. Also when i browse the market to the application it doesnt say i have bought it.
anyone knows how to fix this?
Your market purchases are tied into your Google sign-in account. So to see those purchases you will need to by sync'inc to that account on your device.

[Q] Just updated phone, now theres no market?

I just updated my phone for the first time. Its now 2.2. Ugh. My main issue is I no longer have a market! When I click on the market icon, it says "Application is not installed on phone." Called verizon, their only fix was to do a factory reset, which I don't want to do. Any way around this? I want the market back!!
Sounds like its time to factoy reset. All your paid apps and contacts will be backup throu ur gmail account

Delete google account

I've searched and searched and nothing has worked. I can't wipe.
I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

Or you goto manage applications and reset defaults for all google apps...

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

Bump for same problem here.
Did you find any solution yet?
No, sadly i didnt. As long as i dont sign into the google account, android let me choose to add and store a contact either "local" or "Sign in online"
But as soon as i log into my google account to use the market, the contacts app gives me the message "Your new contact will be synchronized with [email protected]" and only let me choose "Add new account" or "OK" to confirm this.
But i don't want to confirm to store my contacts online.
So the best solution would be, to get this option "local" back.
I rly refuse to click on "OK" hehe. I rly save my new contacts in text files now, i have no other choice atm.
That's courageous. I rolled back to Gingerbread, personnaly.
Yah, i will too. There isnt much difference compared to GB. And i wont take this kind of googles forced data collecting.

Swichted back. Installing DroidWall seem to prevent Android going to sync contacts. Those bastards had all of my contacts synched. Even with sync disabled. As******* check out googles dashboard.
So install DroidWall and only allow programms you trust internet access. There is no need to grant android internet access, especially not the contacts and calendar app... what the hell.. thinking about going back to nokia with symbian as long as its supported. Very nice phones there
Peace
