[Q] Wifi/bluetooth problems since root - Droid 2 General

Ever since rooting my phone yesterday, my wireless and bluetooth have been acting crazy. When I try to enable of disable them they sit there and power on and off until I power cycle the droid.
Any idea on why this is happening or how to fix it
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App

I had the same problem only when running WiFi tether. Make sure it is disabled before trying to enable wifi or bluetooth.

WIFI issues
I don't think it is related to going root. Mine does that once in a while (before I rooted it), but if I shutdown/restart it seems to clear up and work just fine.
Something to do with seeking multiple WIFI profiles and getting stuck in a loop I think.
Stock VZW Droid 2 (factory fresh FRG22D, rooted but still completely stock).

My old droid 2 that broke did that all the time I got a new one and haven't had the issue, I think it might have something to do with the settings, I was never able to fix it.

i have the same problem....i root'ed it last night ...and now the bluetooth can;t be started...i've never had this prbl before rooting :|
Should i use an app for the bluetooth now that it's root'ed??
tnx

Possible fix for wifi freeze

Ever since I downloaded gingerbread I have noticed (and I know I'm not alone) a wifi freeze that would occur everytime my screen would turn off. I've tried countless factory resets, reflashing recoveries, and apps like wifi reassociate and nothing seemed to work. When I reset my phone it would seem fine till I uploaded my go launcher app . Since then it wouldn't work, so I tried uninstalling it and vuala it works again and flawlessly might I add. I use the wifi off Wm screen is off feature in advanced settings and once I turn on the screen within 5 seconds the wifi is on again as well. Hopefully this is a fix for others as well..

sorry but just to clarify, are you saying that wifi freezes with go launcher only?
because I think that many users here are using launchers that differ from go launcher and yet they are facing this issue.
btw I am using stock 407 since a week and never once the wifi froze (touch wood!)
What I've noticed is that when WiFi stops working after the Dell Streak has been on standby for a while is that if I switch the device to Airplane Mode, then off Airplane Mode, it works properly, till it's been on standby for ages again. Small annoying glitch, but I deal with it.
It never freezes while in active use.

Use wifi fixer from market. I never got wifi freeze wirh that app.

I'm using DSC 0.66b with Phoenix kernel and also noticed a problem with Wi-Fi freeze, but I fixed it by simply going to Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi Settings > Advanced and changing Wi-Fi sleep policy to never and then letting Green Power app to manage my Wi-Fi. Good enough for me, maybe this will be useful to someone else as well. Cheers.

I have tried 'wifi fixer' but it's not working for me...Can one please explain what is causing the problem actually? Is it caused by device or OS
Tried it, but after a few days uninstalled

The first few days it worked. But after awhile Wifi Fixer started giving me issues, specially using 100% of the CPU. I unistalled it. I couldn't take my Streak being slow.
The same thing was happening for me also. However, the problem went away after I re-flashed the 407 recovery and installed the Olleh ROM again on my streak. Fingers crossed !!
I was able to fix my wifi problems by setting up a static IP on the phone and router. I have a detailed post in the DSC Rom thread...

I've noticed a lot that with 407 the wifi shows as connected, but won't work until I turn wifi off and on again.
I hope this helps
I was looking into this WiFi freeze and ran into the XDA's crew. Is it possible to have mobile data working perfectly? I can't locate my sim card I believe its built in. My WiFi is set to off. My router will resume network if I turn wifi back on. The weird thing is. I have no data plan on this phone, its been down for years. I was shocked but it didn't help with the freezing, it was if I turned WiFi back on. Then the old Vibrate, Stall.ing, vibe one more time then the WiFi freeze thing.
Still on topic don't worry but that talk about go launcher. It "was" recently installed on my device. Till we all started doing data wipes Hahaa. My point is. As a fresh data restore no apps installed yet. My Google Search suggested that I use explorer, youtube or tubemate to view my search? I dont have that installed anymore I'm a changed man.. Thats why I brought up your Go Launcher theory. Maybe both launchers are interfering I guess, cuz I wouldn't know. I'm only here to give XDA's more Details so they can do what they do best...
My Samsung S738C is running 4.0.4 ics
Basebands S738CWYMJ1
KERNEL 3.0.8-1251199
BUILD IMM76D
Start with Go launcher or if there's anything this Noob can do. Won't be much
good job
thank you very much sir !

Bluetooth Issues

So, for some reason, my Bluetooth doesn't function properly as it should, which is weird, since my phone is still on stock, and the only modifications I've made are unlocking the bootloader and rooting the device. I also installed Power Toggles, but I don't think that's the issue at hand.
Pretty much, whenever I turn the bluetooth on, it tries for a while to turn it on, then gives up and won't let me turn it on. At that point, I have to restart the phone, and when it reboots back up, the bluetooth is on without me having to start it up. Then it works properly, but if I wish to use the bluetooth again the next day, I have to repeat the process of rebooting the device. Any ideas?
I had this issue when I Downloaded a FM radio app from the Play store to see if it would work. I just deleted the app. Went into safe mode then into normal mode and it fixed it.
Don't know what you case can be. But you can try going into safe mode and back to normal and see if there are any different results.

I had this same problem after installing Torque, and using it with default settings that auto-enabled/disabled bluetooth. After turning all that crap off it is back to normal.
I use bluetooth for audio playback and an hf/A2DP headset dialing via Motospeak, as well as Torque with a bluetooth odb2 interface, and it all works perfectly since disabling Torque's auto-bluetooth settings. My only issue is that it takes Motospeak a bit long to restore audio playback after a hf call command.
I would look for an app that you have that is the controlling bluetooth on/off.
I wonder if it isn't a software bug. I have the same issue but I don't have any apps that are causing the issue of atleast from what I can tell. I'm also unlocked and rooted.
I removed Bluetooth from Power Toggles. It's been two days and all seems well. Now we wait.

Same problem here. I have a lot of apps but none I can think of that do anything with Bluetooth.

Nothing yet? I'm just curious as to whether it's just a few people experiencing this, or a lot, since there doesn't seem to be that much talk about it.
I use Bluetooth everyday on my way home from work just to connect to my Bluetooth headset. Out of 14 days I may get one day where I turn Bluetooth on that I don't have to reboot for it to work.

So we're on 4.2.2, I've went through safe mode and back a few times, and I've uninstalled and installed applications having to do with the Wi-Fi. Problem still seems to be there. It's just somewhat of a hassle to have to power down my phone completely, then start it back up, everytime I get into my car. I feel a hard reset mighttt fix the issue, but just looking for another way as of now.
My phone also have the same problem.. the bluetooth won't turn on.. stock 4.2.2 locked bootloader and not root yet.. anyone has a solution..

[Q] Stock 4.3. killed i9505 wifi?

Good evening, everybody.
I have an international i9505 and just updated the system to Android 4.3. through KIES last week. My phone is not rooted and I do not intend to do so.
Yesterday I was using the phone at home, with the wifi turned on, like I always do, when some messages about unstable internet connection started to pop up, followed by a notification about that new function that automatically turns the connection from wifi to mobile in case of bad signal.
After closing everything, my wifi just died. It does not turn on anymore. When clicked, the toogle button becomes light green and then turns off again; at settings/connections, the button remains turned off all the time, never green.
I've already rebooted, removed the battery, restored factory settings and downloaded the update again and nothing had worked so far.
I've also downloaded some "wifi fixer" apps at Play Store, but also with no luck. Most of the apps just crashes when asked to turn on the wifi.
I've read lots of threads about bad wifi function after update, but I dont think my case is similar to any of them, because I didnt flash a custom rom, neither the problem is related to the connection with the router; but turning on the wifi adapter.
All the other stuff (mobile data, gps, bluetooth, gestures, etc.) are working fine.
I really have no idea what to do anymore.
Hi i am a brazilian user and after update i have some problems with wifi connections.
But i really think that is an issue on 4.3 rom

Turn on WiFi without Touchscreen

So, my N4 fell this week and the touch stopped working. Due to the cost of fixing it, I decided that I'm not going to fix nor sell it. Then I got the idea of keeping it and using it as some sort of amazon echo-like device, using Google now for tasks.
But there's a problem: the WiFi (as well as mobile data) is off, and I can't make it turn on.
Obviously I tried to simply say "OK, Google, turn WiFi on" but that doesn't work, as all I get is a message that there's no connection.
I did some research and saw that is possible to turn on via adb, but USB debugging is off, so that doesn't work (for what I understood at least, I'm not exactly a pro I'm this stuff).
That's basically it, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea for a workaround for turning the WiFi on.
Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.
Some extra info: I'm running 100% stock 5.1.1 (I think, not sure what the latest update number was), not change to bootloader either.

You can setup tasker to automatically turn on WiFi or WiFi hotspot on boot.
Also, if you have a windows PC you can control a phone with a broken touchscreen.

[RETLA] Crash reboots after updating to Pie

Before updating I had the dolby app disabled. After the update it was still disabled but the service seemed to be running because it was affecting the audio quality, so I re-enabled it, turned off the dolby processing, and when I was about to disable the app back I got my first reboot. After it went on again I was able to disable it. Started playing some music to check if it was disabled and got another reboot. Now every once in a while happens. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Maybe try to force stop Dolby app then erase data and try again.
For now seems you're the only with this problem

Made a factory reset, didn't disable anything and I have got at least two random reboots. How can I get a logcat of what happened before the reboot?
[EDIT] Found that the random reboots only happens when I'm at the office, connected to a hidden unmetered WPA2-protected Wi-Fi network.

You run Catlog app (for example) and wait for the reboot. If it's plain that it only happens with that Wi-Fi connection, then just run Catlog, connect to WiFi, boom. Check logs afterwards
Has anyone found a solution?
I'm having the same issue. Has anyone found a solution? I already factory reset the phone, but the random reboots persists, and it's only when connected to my home router, it never occurs when wifi is off, and hardly when connected to other APs, wich is very strange.
My device is RETBR, I'm not rooted and never unlocked my bootloader.
Thought about reflash the rom, but i don't see how it would help.
Workaround
Hi, just updating this thread because I maybe have found a workaround. After I installed Blokada, witch uses a VPN, the phone stoped rebooting when connected to my home WiFi. Probably the VPN changes the way Android connects to the internet thus solving the problem. Blokada isn't a real VPN service, it only uses the API to creat a way to block adds, so other apps that uses VPN like that (1.1.1.1, intra, etc) should work as well.
This is a really weird bug, that onky happens in some specific conditions. I didn't found to much people reporting this, but if someone is having the same issue, I hope this "solution" could help.
Have you tried reflash to Oreo Stock?
Maybe after flash Oreo Stock your cellphone working fine.
