For some very strange reason 'sometimes' (as I was told by T-mobile Galaxy Tech Support and Level 3 Samsung Galaxy S Premium Support - they don't know why ) the UNLOCK code provided by T-Mobile doesn't work. message: NETWORK UNLOCK REQUEST UNSUCCESSFUL
if this is the case, here's a quick solution:
1. Download and install SGS Unlock app from Market (even if you have UNLOCK code provided by T-Mobile it's always good to double check). Please donate to developer for a great job!
2. Run SGS Unlock and write down the UNLOCK Code.
3. Turn your device OFF and remove T-Mobile SIM card.
4. Turn device ON without SIM card! Once it's on go to phone dial screen and DIAL: *7465625*638*#
it will bring you to the NETWORK LOCK screen.
- in MCC/MNC field enter code for the service provider you want to use your phone with (eg 31026 for T-Mobile USA), if you don't know a code, just GOOGLE: MCC/MNC and service provider name.
- in CONTROL KEY field enter the UNLOCK code (you got from T-Mobile and confirmed by SGS Unlock)
- hit OK
- you should get a message: LOCK SUCCESSFUL
5. Power phone down, insert SIM card you want your phone to work with and power on.
Once your phone back on you should get a message: SIM card added to SAFE list.
Now you can use your T-Mobile locked phone with another service provider.
ENJOY!!!
There's no special instructions to go back to T-Mobile network. Just insert T-Mobile SIM back into your phone.
By the way, everything you do with your phone you do at your own risk! Don't blame anybody when/if something goes wrong!

I currently have an iPhone, love it. However, I'm getting a G1, new in the box tomorrow. My question is this, can I open the G1 and use an unlock code on it, then pop in my ATT sim and get up and running or do I have to have a TMobile sim activated and in the phone for the unlock code to work?
this has been gone over before. SEARCH. but yeah all you have to do is put your ATT sim in, turn the phone on, and enter the unlock code.
then, when it starts with the whole google setup your phone thing, hit the MENU button and select NEW APN and then enter in all of your information...google for the APN information for ATT...and then presto it should work. (make sure you put default in for apn type).
i just recived my unlock code from tmobile and i want to test the code and see if it unlocks my phone.
where can i get a foriegn sim card?
is there a website? or can i unlock it without a foreign sim card?
again, i have my code
also, lets say, i am in germany.........
and i get a sim card from over there.........can people still call my US number? or will that change?
is this legit?
http://www.oneroam.com
you dont need a foriegn sim card,
all you need is an "unsupported" sim card... any non Tmobile sim would work
once you have it in the phone and power on you will get a message like
"Please input unlock code"
punch in the code, then it will "find" the network the sim is attached to... so if you use an at&t sim card it will register to the att network in about 30 secs
.....
so mainly is
1. use an unsupported sim card
2. enter unlock code
3. verify it connects to the unsupported network (at&t since those sim;s are easy to get)
4. put your normal simcard back

got ya, thank you for your fast reply, i thought i could do it that way, but just wanted to be sure.
"

the number is tied to the sim
if you put in a sim card from another operator you get a new number
and people can't call the number of your old sim
even if you get a dual-Sim holder and have 2 sim in the device granted it support it
most places the rules apply that if other people call your USA number
while you're outside
they only pay for calling you in USA
and you pay for directing the call from USA to what ever country
you're presently in
if this is fine by you you don't even need to unlock it as tmobile would have
roaming agreement in many countries in the world but at a high cost of cause
I bought a HTC Hero on ORANGE UK which is obviously LOCKED. Since I am trying to unlock it so as to move to a different PAYG plan with more data I bought a unlock code. I received the code and this is what I got:
When I turned on the phone with 3 UK SIM card I get a screen that reads:
"SIM network unlock PIN. To make an emergency call, enter the emergency number and tap emergency call"
On the same screen I get a place to put the unlock code and a button that says UNLOCK.
Once I entered the code the phone screen says "Network unlock successful".
It seems to work.
However, after this, on the main screen I get a symbol with a SIM card and a huge Red "X" on it and says NO SERVICE.
I cannot connect to the 3 UK network (I tried both 3 UK and Talkmobile UK), neither worked.
My questions are:
- Everytime I turn on the phone with a SIM card different to Orange UK, I get asked to input the code. Is this OK or should it only have asked it once?
-Is the phone unlocked or not since it says successful with the code I enter?
- How can i get connect to the new SIM card network to if the phone is unlocked?
Thanks!

If you can make calls with another simcard other than Orange its unlocked. BTW how much was the unlock code?
Settings > Security > Setup SIM card lock > Uncheck Lock SIM card and enter the PIN... Qapl'a!
But that only unlocks the PIN lock, not the operator lock.
Thanks for your replies. I bought the code for 15 pounds.
I tried the above method, went to Security but the Lock SIM Card was UNCHECKED already!
Any other ways?
How come it won't work?
I am not sure what happened. I have an ATT branded atrix. I purchased an unlock code from someone on ebay, and the code was incorrect. I entered the code several times and I believe i have carrier locked the phone. Now even when i stick my att sim card in it brings up the "enter network unlock pin screen." I can hit dismiss and get into the phone but I cannot get service even with my att sim card in the phone. So as of right now my phone is not unlocked and is unable to be used with any sim card. Please help as i need the phone. any advice will be helpfull.
I am attempting to factory unlock a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 originally on the T-mobile network and place a Verizon sim card into the phone.
I have done hours of research to find that I have a few options.
1. I need to purchase an unlock code from a website (that hopefully won't scam me)
2. Contact the carrier to see if they will give me an unlock code
3. Use the service menu on the phone to mess with some "Network Lock" settings
I have spoken with a friend of mine who said that even if I pursue any of these options, the phone will still not function because I am trying to go from a GSM network to a CDMA network. He said the data will function but the phone calls will not come in.
I am in desperate need of some help if anyone can respond. Thanks.

AFAIK the t-mobile version only comes unlocked. It should be just a matter of turning on the radios for the verizon bands you want to be able to use and putting in a verizon sim card.
