hi
i have just installed hyperdroid 1.6 on my hd2, but is it only on my phone that all the text and icons are really small? can you change that size some how
Search the hyperdroid thread on how to change the dpi. Its been answered there about a hundred times. You'll probably want to change it to 240.

Try experimenting with the "LCD density" setting in the build.prop file.
180 works for me in most builds or use the stock 240 setting.

I'd like a bit more hi Res on my desktop and have heard u can change the density. Can anyone rwccomend a good setting or offer advice on this?

You need to edit your build.prop found in /system.
Find the line,
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=
The default value on most ROMs is 240.
Anything lower will give the impression of a higher resolution.
Can u recommend a setting?

I usually run 220 on MIUI without any problems. And 190 on CM7.
Some apps don't scale to the new resolution.
Ok I thought adjusting this would make things smaller. But I see no visible difference

What ROM are you using?
It should make things smaller, It won't however give you more widget locations. You'd need to use LauncherPro for that.
Using leedroid 3.1.3
A friend has a hd2 and is set at 167 is it wise to go that low with dhd
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I've never gone below 180. Not through fear, just happy with how it looks.
167 may be a little low. You won't do any damage by trying.
I'm running 160 on CM without any problems whatsoever(but be aware that you have to disable compatibility mode in spare parts). If it doesn't look smaller, then you're not doing something right... How did you change the value?

I'm using the Darkside Sense 3.5 Rom and everything just seems a little too big. Is there a way to make the screen resolution higher so that it so the icons don't look so clunky?

but if u change the density some apps will look to small or off set like the camera app and the all app drawer will not cover the whole screen . u should try the black ice port if u want a smaller cleaner look with out these problems . but be advised the market will remove a lot of apps regardless .
with sense i usually go with a density of 180, but some apps will be a lil off, and not aligned, but if you want, try a aosp rom and use density app. you will have a way cleaner look.
I changed my screen density to 160 after installing CM9 by editing build.prop. Now, I can't get it to go back to 240 when I want to download/update apps from the market. I can edit and save build.prop and it shows that my settings have saved in the file, but nothing I do can get it to revert back. What am I doing wrong?
Try rebooting the phone after you change it back to 240

Yes, I did that. In fact, I rebooted multiple times. I even left the setting at 240 and cleared my market data to see if I could just trick it into thinking I was using a supported screen density. It still won't let me download/update most apps. The problem also persisted after I upgraded from Alpha1 to Alpha2.
Try an lcd density changer app from the market. Are u able to dl one of those?

Yeah, I had originally used the LCD Resolution app, but it wouldn't work. I just tried it again now and it still won't work. This app doesn't seem to even be able to change build.prop which is why I ended up trying to change it manually.
Also, I mistyped, my current density is set at 190, not 160, for those of you wondering why I'm still getting Market incompatibility messages at a supported resolution.
I just tried using LCD Density Modder and it worked. I would like to know what it does that the other app, and editing build.prop manually didn't do, if anyone knows.
Lmfao 160??? How did you even see the app to install? Hahahaha glad it worked for you

That was a typo, I meant 190. Although I tried 160 with the Font set to huge and it wasn't too bad.
Just reflash the rom. It'll reset the dpi

Thanks, this is what was holding me back from cm9
I kinda like 180 but dialer crashes when you make a call. What is everyones favorite density? 190? looks like 183 is there lowest you can go without the dialer crashing.

I don't think 160 is too small at all, it was my default on CM7, it also clears up a lot of Market incompatibilities, and gives the tablet interface for some apps (Netflix)... But it crashes the dialer and task switcher on CM9.
182 is the lowest possible in CM9, unless you don't want to use the task switcher or make/receive phone calls.
Hi,
Has anyone tried changing the DPI setting under the official ICS release?? either to something above 160 (phone mode), or 160 or below (tablet mode)? did it work?
im reluctant to try it since i read somewhere that someone tried it on a galaxy s 2 and it hung on boot, and I dont have CWM recovery installed yet to do a backup (am guessing we need to wait for ChainFire to compile a kernel with CWM support in it...)
thanks
g
I tried 280 and 260, both the times I soft bricked and had to revert to CM9.
I used LCD Density modder, if that helps.
I tried the method outlined in this post, and now I am likewise at 240 on LPY without issue.
I run in 260 as well, used root explorer to modify the build.prop
160 to 239 cause systemui crashes. Dont know how to fix them

240 for me, used ROM toolbox
Dpi changer doesn't work with ICS (I don't think)
Change DPI is safe with Root Explorer or ROM toolbox, other apps can brick you ROM. 280dpi is ok, but if you set anything lower - you get force closes at many apps.

I've only had 1 FC since Saturday when I flashed the German release. That a happy trade off for the extra real estate

Thanks guys... i installed Rom toolbox pro, set it to 240, and its at least successfully rebooted... ill post if i get any probs, but its looking like a much more approriate size for stuff on this screen. Has anyone dared go to 160 to see if tablet mode works???
As another poster above, I tried a few settings below 240 and it caused mass fcs. 240 seems to be lowest available.

I used rom toolbox to lower my dpi but it doesn't let you go back to 320.
Lcd density pro does weird things - my keyboard was all goofed up. Like the screen was 320 but my keyboard was 280

I used LCD density pro and it works fine with me. Initially, reboot your system and apply dpi changes and reboot device again. Lets see if that'll work.

why wasted money when you can always do it manually?
root explorer/root browser ---> System/Build.Prop
adjust your LCD density to whatever you like. Edit both of them...

You can always use other free repositories instead of google play (market).

Rom Toolbox won't let you go back higher than 280 if you use the optimizer function with the slider.
Therefore you can use the build.prop editor (underneath the optimizer). Look for both entries ro.sf.lcd_density and change it 2 times manually to 320.
Exit and reboot

how about that for GB 2.3?
I got force closes on youtube at 240 dpi which I think is down to the dpi. Chrome seems to hate custom dpi. No other problems. Still, looking forward to a paranoid android for the note.
I have read that you should go into market and clear data after you change dpi otherwise it can get upset.

I find the preset one to be good enough for me (i like everything small too)
Go to settings > display > screen zoom and font
pull down the sliders on both screen zoom and font size to the bottom and press apply
