Does anyone know when the official release of 2.1 or 2.2 is coming out for the Streak. This would be for the USA version. Thank you.
2.2 supposedly pushed to Jan 2011...
As for 2.1, just use the leaked one from O2...works fine.
Then go on 2.2 Beta by Stephen Hyde. Works perfectly.

When you say works perfectly you mean 90% there right ?
For me 99%
But its more than worth even if it were less than 90%
99% is pretty accurate... I have no problem with any of the apps I'm using. Worst case scenario you go back to 2.1 by simply flashing Update.pkg. its perfect! !!

What about the known reboot bug and the wifi 3g bug ?
Some users are reporting excessive dattery drain issues
How often are you effected ?
Just asking coz my streak is my primary phone
Well mine hasn't rebooted except when I've told it to. The wifi/3g bug was solved by putting APN's back and a tweak to build.prop and my battery drain has been the same as the 2.1. In fact since I saw people posting 2.2 was power hungry, I optimized it a bit and now its better than 2.1 was.
Saw this a few days ago from Lionelatdell.
Latest information I have for US #dellstreak and Froyo is by the end of the year. When I have more details to share, I will. Thu 07 Oct 2010 06:12:49 PM EST via Seesmic Desktop...

Can you point me to a howto tweak the build.prop, noob here
the later built (beta 1) - the one that's current at the time of writing apparently has debug code removed that was using power unnecessarily in the first build.
A weird thing but I noticed that people who used the lower lcd density setting were complaining about the power drain and those who used the default lcd density didn't.
So I edited my build.prop to set it to the old default of 160 to see what happened.
I edited my build.prop file using 'root explorer' which is in the market place. Its a paid app, but just makes it easier to play with the build.prop without having to use adb and push stuff onto the sd card and so on. You can just edit it in place.
You can just go to the system folder, open the folder and press the mount r/w button
click and hold on the build.prop' file and then select edit with text editor
find the line ending with lcd=140 and change it to lcd=160 and then menu button and select save and close. Then press the moun r/o button exit the application and reboot. It makes the icons larger again.
If you are having battery life problems I would recommend 'juice defender' when you aren't using the phone it turns of unnecessary services and turns on the data connection for one minute every 15 minutes ( or whatever you set it to) and switches off the wifi if its not being used.
Also removing the facebook widget helps as that seems to stop the streak sleeping properly.
Yesterday I had 37% battery left after 23 hours - albeit light use and I was asleep for 10 of them! Sadly I then flashed the latest build so I have no idea how long it would have gone on for - certainly another 8 hours whilst I was sleeping.

I replied in your main thread - Steve is aware of it but its not a priority as there are a couple of free ones on the market that do work.

Is froyo better functioning and looking than the official o2 2.1 rom? Because right now I'm on the 2.1 and it feels super fast I just don't think I can live without flash
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Well its a beta so it has a few minor bugs - just a question if you can live with them.
Personally the pro's far outweigh the cons, but you may have different requirements so...
Speed - Much much faster, Flash - Awesome and you get access to lots of froyo apps.
So far the bugs I'm aware of that have been reported by multiple users (I 've ignored single person reports as they are often because people forget to reboot/haven't read the instructions/already had the fault - I've also ignored a few that have been reported which are based on people not understanding what they are seeing or have ignored the solution when its been put to them or are based on 'it seems slower doing xyz or the battery discharges faster' - I've flashed back and forward and tested 2.1 v's 2.2 and the gps is not slower to first lock and the battery drain is pretty much identical. Sorry it wasn't meant to be an essay but reading the modaco forum you would think it doesn't work at all!
So this is the list of bugs that I have been able to replicate -
1. the sensor sometimes gets stuck to it doesn't switch landscape/portrait 100% of the time - probably the most irritating bug but no biggy
2. Some apps don't appear in the market - but it only seems to be 1 or 2 and if you ask in the forums, someone will send you a direct link to the apk file
3. Froyos inbuilt tethering only works on USB but there are a couple of free ones which work fine.
4. Pausing a track in the music player brings up a 'cannot play this file message' so you either have to go back or forward a track to resume.
5.radio channels 12 and 13 aren't accessible on wifi
6. camcorder wont run at 720p
err that's it - unless you run at one of the non standard screen densities which introduces a few minor problems.
Personally I'd say if you are happy doing the flashing then go for it.
Point 2. Some apps?
Under communications I only see 10 apps listed

Read to the end of the modaco thread - you have to clear the market data - he's also just removed the build so he can tweak a problem that's been introduced with the camera.
We shouldn't really be discussing this here otherwise we will get the mods wrath, better keep to the builds thread.
Does froyo fix the wireless issues on 1.6? Meaning the not connecting to wireless networks and having to manually turn on wireless on and off to get it to connect.

Everyone seems to report okay with it...but with drod2169 doing so much with 2.2.1 already I'm gonna stick with that. Also I am testing his new beta and ROM bootstraps automatically on every boot and more coolness to come so I will stick with rubiX focused for now
Is non-oem battery behavior any different???
With the FROYO update, the Droid X no longer recognized aftermarket batteries for whatever reason. Could someone who has flashed this update check and see if aftermarket batteries are recognized with it, or do we still get the '?' in the battery notification area?
Thanks
Not sure if I could live without LCD density at this point. I am gonna wait and watch developments.
so what all changes are in this? and what makes it worth jumping the ball?
If you want a changelog you will have to contact motorola. Otherwise it is supposedly just a faster build and random reboot issues fixed.
ok. well im guessing rubix would work as its same build set up? im tempted to put the leak in as it fixes some of the problems im having but not sure about not having an $BF full to revert back to, just incase i somehow f up on something. i can't afford to brick my only phone lol.
Will this work if I have Fission 2.1 installed? Or would it just delete my custom tom and bring me to a stock 2.2.1?

Okay I would say that this is probably the official OTA update that everyone is awaiting... The kernel is updated which is going to be the greatest advantage with this release...
Media Fix
Im pretty sure that the "sorry this player does not support..." has been fixed in this update... I use my DX as my primary mp3 player atleast 8 times a day and so that old bug would force me to restart 1 or 2 times daily... been running the new release for over 24 hours and I've yet to get the error (using it heavily and testing the music often aswell...)
Updated System Apps
The only thing ive noticed with these so far is a new Data usage widget built in to blur (now that we dont need unlimited data plans...)
Also the dialer now displays the most recent dialed or missed call just above the number keys...
Battery manager Fix
So the battery manager force close seems to have been fixed... I think this was an issue with the app and not the kernel... the reason i say this is because ive been checking to see that the battery stats non stop (maybe 100 times now) in different scenarios (fresh boot, fresh unplug, etc...) and i have only gotten one force close... I was running the 2.2 NexThemed Systems apk at this point... I imediately reinstalled the 2.2.1 setting apk and without needing to restart my phone the battery stats were fixed.
This issue then would not need u to flash the new release to fix for now... you can probably temporarily fix it on the old 2.2 kernel just by running the 2.2.1 app... (maybe people running the 2.2.1 fission can confirm this...
These are the big things i have noticed so far... I can not confirm the HDMI kernel fix though because i have not yet tested it and even when I was running the old kernel I seldom used the feature and When i did it never gave me any issues...
Hope this helps and I'd be very interested to hear about anything else people have noticed!
Does that update zip also do any kernal or radio updates?

So I decided I'd give the new official update for the HTC aria a shot despite all the talk about not being able to root it yet. So far some pretty important things I've noticed is the fact that there is no sideloading. I saw someone on here say that it would be able to sideload - incorrect. The second big thing is the fact that it does not have the touchpad button wake. You have to use the power button which is a huge flaw for me. Someone also said that it would be capable of overclocking- as far as I know right now I don't think you can, but I can't be 100% sure yet because of the lack of sideloading and the 4.99 for setcpu. Some of the cool new features I do like is the mobile hotspot capabilities, live wallpapers, and the market update. So now I want to see what others have to say about it. Did you purchase a used phone? Was it already rooted? Did the seller install the latest update from HTC/AT&T?
The 2.2 update from at&t is not an Over-the-air (OTA) update. It's offered by at&t via the HTC web site. The update, therefore, takes work on the user's part. It's not automatic.
That said, if you purchase a phone from eBay that is factory fresh from at&t, it's possible it already has the 2.2 update - I put the odds at 50%.
For what it's worth, the only thing wrong with the stock build of this device's ROM is the at&t bloatware/crapware. Other than that, it's a solid device, and there are ways to customize the phone to your liking.

Use the stock HTC sync software that came with your Aria - when prompted to update, don't do it!

If it is what it looks like, (US version/AT&T branded) then you should be able to root no problem with unrevoked

I'm not sure about enabling RTL support, but I think people have been talking about it on these forums.
At first my phone felt quick when it was processing, but initial response to screen presses felt slightly laggy. I was concerned. But after running it for a few weeks now, without a task killer, it feels like quite a quick more featured phone. Seems like there was a calibration and optimization duration there. Maybe it's in my head? Very happy with the upgrade, especially for apps to SD!
Oh, and add gingerbread keyboard from the market and the phone is twice as good!

You can do side loading by using android injector. You can find it at at harmonyhollow or softpedia. Just type in Android Injector at google. It also allows you to install multiple apps at the same time.

How do you get Apps to SD to work on this rom?
In the past I was using Darktremor's a2sd preinstalled on the Liberated Aria roms.
I am now on the Liberated version of the rom (thanks to Gene Poole - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970272), but I don't know how to do apps2sd here. I have my sdcard partitioned with ext3 (512 Mb), but it's not getting used automatically.

I have tried using the Rom in pure stock form (no apps and the standard kernel it comes with) I make a phone call I get high Android system usage . I have tried it with a the new SZ kernel with SBC and CFS *still does it*. I have tried it set up normally with all my apps and everything sync'ing still does it . Now in comparison to your phone and mine here is mine
HW004
All radios up to date , pri rolled back to 1.77 , PRL 60677
The one thing I have noticed is when I refresh the battery usage screen it will flicker another label over the Android System as if the phone is relabeling it . One time it was labeling it com.android.something , I couldnt make it out , another time it was flashing Settings before reverting back to Android System . I dunno if that will point you in the right direction or not or help you in any way .I wonder if its not data related ? *just thinking outloud* since when you are in a phone call it switches the phone to 2G and 3G is disabled (atleast on my phone) till the call is completed . Maybe during that time one of those processes is attempting to gain data access and isnt (Dunno just thinking outloud)
No problem, its fine just flashed #5 to stop the itch (coming from 1.1) I'm really liking the changes.great work
Also I like the 3 day builds instead of nightlies

if u look @ the processes under android system, salvageMod settings is one of em. amongst other things like google backup transport (id disable that google sync stuff)
but i suspect the savageMod settings like power widget/cpu settings clock/governor procedures prolly do run up the resources % numbers.
on refresh android system seems to say "com.android.systemstateui"
id need hdmi to work and record and freeze it to be sure.
i cant replicate it happening after a call either. after a 16 min call to my GF & 20 min call to my buddy, my android system is only @ 3%
but does randomly read up ion the 30-40% eventaully.

Totally out of left field: dell released a new rom for softbank.
The changelog does not seem to state much.
Android 2.2.2
Build date: Jul 10, 2012
Build: 29579
Dell Stage 1.6
The rom is completely identical to 366 except for the following files:
<root>\boot.img
<root>\amss.mbn
<root>\dbl.mbn
<root>\dsp1.mbn
<root>\osbl.mbn
<root>\system\build.prop
<root>\system\app\quickoffice.apk
Out of all those, only boot.img seems to have changed more then just being resigned/trivial changes.
Dell normally holds a rom for 1 month to test before releasing, but the normal release date for a rom built in july would be mid/late august.
So for whatever reasons: they held it back for a month.
It also only includes a trivial amount of changes, so it's not much more then going though the motions of a release
I received the update SMS today and came here to check. Figured you would have some additional info on this.
Still Froyo? I guess I'm never getting a phone from Softbank again.
Blame Dell/Qisda's dell team/Softbank
The SPro's still on GB too.
The Lenovo LePad S2005 (ie the "Opus one") got ICS back in April.
I dont even know why they released 369, I cant tell if it even changed anything as far as softbank's changelog is concerned.

maybe the user or the dev is old school type .. and pretty much on comfort zone...
Official roms arnt custom roms, they cant simply release it and hope there's no serious issues. They have to have staff on hand to test for 3 weeks before releasing.
Even if they only changed like a dozen lines of code at best for it.

Package name is streak_29579_12.pkg
Has anyone tried this?

I currently sport the Dell official 360 rom and I was wondering if it was worth the bother of udating to this one? has anyone given it a go and does it work?
Any pointers would be appreciated! Also interested in whether it requires a complete reset or if it upgrades leaving data/apps in place? :fingers-crossed:

Any time you flash a DELL update.pkg it's going to do a factory reset.
TheManii may put together a zip package for it though

rom: 2.5 gb
are we going to get an official ics as we had before from olleh an official gb ??
2.5gb is 500mb nand + 2gb innerSD.
I dont expect them to ever make official ICS.
Even 2.3.5+ isnt something I'd expect.

Has anyone installed this yet? Does it improve wifi performance and is it ok in the UK? I hate being the first at these things!!
Well I took the plunge and generally I am pleased with the results. Wifi seems much more stable and most things work, although mms does not seem to be working at the moment. Also softbank does not come with a sms app pre-installed, instead they use their own combined messaging app which I have not tried yet. I installed an sms app from the market and it works ok, apart from mms

The MMS issue I was having was me being an idiot - I had run out of credit I have never used Wifi Hotspot. There is an app that comes rolled into this rom which seems to be for tethering but i have not used it. The WiFi in general is excellent and seem way more stable that any other ROM I've used to date (and I've used quite a few). I think it may be easier to look up a 3rd party (barnacle I think) tool to get the tethering working - but I know very little about this.

I've been using it for a while and generally all is good. It seems better on battery than the 360 rom, the WiFi seems more stable, though I do get the odd issue with it not connecting but far less than any other rom I've used. I do not use tethering and I know that is not present, but there are apps in the market to do this anyway. SuperUser.zip also happily rooted it with no issues. It does seem to be quicker than other Froyo roms too - so overall I'd say it's worth an upgrade. Be aware that the native messaging app will not work on it for some reason, but Handsent or Go SMS are just fine and dandy - unless you run out of credit (see earlier post by me)
If I had to stick to a single rom this would be the one. I am tempted to go for DSC and I've been told by the author that it can be flashed over this rom - so I may report back when 1.6 is rolled out fully and I've installed it to give a comparison.
I hope this helps!
I've looked and haven't found any links for what I'm looking for which is just the amss and dsp1 files to flash in fastboot... anybody got those uploaded anywhere? I hate to flash the entire ROM just to extract those two, but if I have to then I just have to... thanks guys for any help
