[Q] ROM advice? - Legend General

hey guys,
its been 1 month since i bought my Legend, im very satisfied with the phone, but i want to try overclocking it a bit and perhaps to use a customized ROM, what would be your recommendations about OC settings(like max MHz and so on...) and program to use, and also which would be the "best" ROM i could put on it? i know there are alot of ppl asking the same, but i kind of didnt get it from the rest of the posts. thanks in advance!

Look into TheGrammarFreak's guide for overclocking. For ROM is comes down to personal taste. Read sticky and check out each ROM and decide by yourself.

What is the best ROM for HTC HD2?

I'm using "EnergyROM 23541/21892" and I'm looking for something better and faster !
I have to say it's pretty confusing and overwhelming when you arrive here. Couldn't answer this myself, there should be a poll thread like there are on Modaco to help newbies.
This again, why dont you start trying some to see what you like...they are all good
For cutting edge ROMs - look at Miri's or Dutty's HG ROMs
For super clean - look at CleanEx (new ROM but already looks like it could be a goodun)
This is all subjective to personal opinion and taste. Best advice is to read through some of the posts and try for yourself.

Definitely the ARTEMIS !!
So indeed this is where a poll would be useful, look at all those different answers!
I think rather than a 'what is best' it would be much better to have a comparison page where all the chefs could update with the important information and a link to their forum page - so for example it would have a table with the chef name, driver version, manila version, rom version etc... and perhaps a few key points such as applications added/removed from stock ROM...
A first point of call so you can quickly see who has released a new ROM, and see its details
What this should NOT include is any star rating/number of downloads etc...
This is an easy question to answer, I think!
For any user unwilling to do a bit of research and learn about differences between ROM's, the best ROM is obviously the one they already have!

Another thing...
I'm using "EnergyROM 23541/21892" and I'm looking for something better and faster !

the hd2 can't have any preferences, you on the other hand might have some.
thus, the question becomes 'which of the roms might be the best for me?'
so the solution my friend, lies entirely in your hands
happy flashing mate
this will be closed v soon. i have seen many threads on this topic they all closed. so u have to try ur self and find what is the best. tast r difarent. for me Dutty's HG
Thats like asking
"What is the best console" or even "What is the best programming language".
Simply put, it comes down to personal opinion, while one person might rate a rom good for its long battery life, another person rates the rom bad because it didnt come with his favorite video player installed (just examples, i know battery life is more related to radio, and you can install apps on all roms)
You could however ask people to write reviews, but theres already a site for that http://xdaroms.com/ and i gotta admit thats not very actively updated/reviewed.
Personally, im always very pleased with Artemis roms, if your looking for the ram or cpu trick, forget i mentioned it, but if your looking for speed and stability alongside the latest wm and manila, check out the thread (read peoples replys a bit/read changelog/look at screens to get an idea of the rom)
The first time it can be a little scary to flash your phone, but after a while you will get the hang of it, its really not that hard or dangerous, just read the thread about flashing.
As long as you read the (help & specific rom) threads, it'll be just fine
I agree... If like me, you need a ROM which allows for Chinese Input, you become more limited in your options... so it really depends on what you need....
I am a bit surprised to see a request like "searching a faster and better ROM".
You should ask different questions, eg. I need this and that in a ROM, which
ones come with it? Even better, do a search yourself!
Dozens of ROMs are available. All of them are fast, all of them are good.
Hundreds of different answers are possible.
If you feel that your device is slow with the ROM you are using, there could be other reasons:
- bad flash
- defective device
I just tell this because after having flashed something like 50 different ROMs over the past three months, not any single one of them made my HD2 slow.

whats is the best (cooked or uncooked) rom?

please help me to find the best rom. i tried many roms but most of the consumes battery so quickly that i have to unflash them quick.
wishlist:
1- Longest possible battery *Important*
2- must be stable... no bugs
3- Limited amount of softwares installed. i love to install my own favorite ones.
4- prefer rom built using leo 2.10 (for HTC E-Reader)
5- desirable WM 6.5.5
6- desirable HTC E-Reader (tab is optional. App will do)
all you experience guys please help... its really difficult for me to choose one and i have already nearly bricked my mobile so a little bit scared to keep flashing every rom...
Thanks in advance
you're gonna get a lot of people annoyed that you started a thread like this
it's a personal choice
i don't see why instead of going into the correct section and reading the first three lines of the available ROM's you started your own thread specifying what it is that you want
ROM DEVELOPMENT
ITS ALL THERE!
Before the thread gets locked, I'll tell you that you need to wait 2-3 days before passing judgment on battery life. It takes about 2-3 full charge/discharge cycles before the ROM 'calibrates.' The first use after ROM flash will almost always give you terrible battery life.
its a general question about choosing the best ROM. it has nothing to do with rom development. i think this is the best area to ask question... i thankfully appreciate that many people are spending enormous time on developing roms but i think i have right to choose the one that suits my needs...
but i think i have right to choose the one that suits my needs...

then stop asking which rom suits everyone elses needs and go find what works best for you, best advice i can give
and although it is the best area to ask this question, it has been asked a billion times before
true but they are all dated now
mate, in the rom development section, click on a rom, and on the first post it will say what it does
for example laurentius has good battery life
artemis is windows5.5 and very stable
cleanex and leolite have been stripped to make it faster
duttys has been tweaked for speed
they all say what they do

Why are all the threads about what is the best rom dated????
because the mods lock them. every single one of them.
why? because there is no best rom.
every rom suits someones needs. so every rom is for someone the best rom.
read all the threads and in every single rom thread you will find people saying that that rom is the best rom.
as said before a rom is personal. read the fisrt few posts and try a few. you will find yours then.
seems like leolite is going to be my rom i am downloading and hoping that it will be stable and less hungry on the battery...
thansk for quick tips guys

What is the best ROM? What do you recommend?

So Im getting my HD2 soon and am looking at the ROM's here, which one do you guys recommend? I was thinking either the Energy ROM or the Artemis ROM.
Sorry if wrong section.
mate thats a difficult one to answer without a qualifing statement. i.e. if you were to go round asking people 'whats the best car?' without explaining that you live in the middle of a nowhere and the only way to get there is by dirt track your not going to get the answer thats right for your situation/needs as most people are going to say some sort of sportscar or saloon.
There is no 'best' rom they all achieve different things, you'll just have to put some effort in and find out for yourself when you get your hd2. I go for duttys hg cos i like them clean and close to original without the crap.
This whole site is about the journey and making descisions for yourself not having someone tell you whats best, you surely know whats best for you not anyone else.
you may end up with some negative comments to that kind of post
EDIT: Just seen how new you are so your probably asking this without seeing how this sort of question normally goes down Is this your first time with winmo ?

+1
. . . . . before mods closes this thread
experience is the best knowledge obtained here in XDA
try ROMs yourself and share us your experience, we wish you luck on this journey
i was struggling with that too..
i found Duttys Leo HG Ultimate V1.3_23547 (or later when you come to that)
and energy rom the best... energy rom seems a winner all the way when it comes to esthatics and the duttys seems simple fast and battery friendly
try both and u will end up with one matches to your tastes
Sorry I sound like a noob but I am....This is my first WM Device so Im just wondering if there is a general ROM that people consider the best. Most I want, Speed, Music, And the Web and Video. Those are the main things I use.
Also quick question, Installing a custom consits of Installing HSPL (if not installed), then Open WDC (I have windows 7), then install my custom ROM.
Is that correct? Pretty simple. Also, lets say I wanted a new ROM after that I just follow the same steps? Thanks in advance.
My oppinion is that the sone roms are the most professional ones. They are bug free. I suggest to you to try more and more roms, and chose the one you prefer.
Not sure how many times this has been asked,
but it has been a lot.
There is no best ROM.
I am sure you have noticed all the ROM's here and
the number of responses to them.
Everyone has a different opinion of what the best ROM is.
Try them and see for yourself.
That is what this forum is for.

Haha, getting in before the lock!!!
Steps:
Yes, install HSPL to device.
Download the Task29.exe thing that is stickied and run it before each install.
Then use customRUU to flash your desired ROM.
ROM: the roms I'm watching include (based on performance, stability, included/removed app list and look):
Laurentius26's ultimate power 2.0 (21895)
Artemis 6.0 (23547)
Topix by kwbr (21891)
Tom Codon's Rom (htpcedia) (21895/23547)
Dutty HG (htcpedia) (21895/23547)
Energy Rom.
Xannytech's Evolution
All are good and all are worth a look.
Also Lost in Asia, waterbear, leopard, cleanex, lynex, leon, leo lite, Axlor, Maseus, Romeos, OzRom, netDRG, Itje's, stockroms, valkyrie, Hd20, Sone, RTT, Chucky, and Flashmore also look hot.
Basically they are all good in some way or another and all have had good work and effort put in.
Smaberg's Touch-X all the way.
Thanks for all the help guys! Much appreciated!
I would also recommend upgrading the radio first before you post saying your phone no longer boots!

Well, first thing, I think this post belongs over in the General Forum. This is the place for Chef's to post their ROMs. But we'll let a Mod decide that and since I'm not a Mod...
The great thing about flashing ROMs is that there are so many to choose from. I can't tell you from week to week which one is my favorite, but then I do a weekly flash just to stay on top of the latest stuff
If your phone is freezing due to the well-known SMS bug, you can either find a ROM that replaced the HTC Messaging with something more stable.
If you are like me, you will probably pick your first ROM based on looks, and then from there you may end up flashing different ones that satisfy your current needs.
I've never heard of anyone breaking their phone by flashing too much, but you still want to be careful and only flash ROMs that have positive feedback in the comments. At least, at first.
After you get some experience, you may just decide to start going crazy and make your own
Best approach is to read the first few posts of the roms you are interested in, map them against any requirements you have and try a few. Read the various stickies and tutorials carefully first.
Closing this thread now.

i would like to get a custom ROM or any ROM that i can use my Mdeejay Evo matted on it without problems....
any HELP PLease Thanks!!
If there's one thing I've learned is that stuff is rarely handed to you around here. The rest of us have worked to get what we want; meaning read and figure it out on your own. The first few posts of each ROM thread will inform you of what the cook has done and you can figure out from there if it fits your needs.
...Wow. You do realize that the stock 3.14 ROM does work with the majority of Android distros, and that by installing CoOkies Home Tab you can increase the number of links to however many you want....right?
So i can use the stock ROM 3.14 with my Mdeejay Evo Matted Android?
if So, How can i Increase the number of quick links in my Stock ROM?

Wow...you were once a noob as well seeking help and every now and then it would be nice to get a helping hand on here. Sometimes it would be great to just meet someone to take them under their wing and help them...dont really feel as if that would be to much to ask.
See the thing is though, most of the time people troll the forums as un-registered people, find something they like/want, try to download and find that they have to be registered to do so, join...download what they wanted without reading instructions and whatnot, then come and complain or ask for a handout without so much as looking at the stickies. It's not that we don't like n00bs at XDA, quite the contrary, without new blood XDA would die off, it's that people that come and expect to be spoon fed information is something that I for one cannot stand. There is a wealth of information if you just look for it.
