Need an a developer for an application. The app is pretty straight forward, or well it should be.
Involves facebook connect, profiles (like when user logs in they will have their own profile page with picture from facebook, name, etc..), instant messaging (messaging over the application, like ebuddy in a sense), discussion board (just a small discussion board that will allow users to post topics in 5-6 diff sub categories), and one more thing.

Is there any way to change the default facebook app/url. In People, if i select someone and tap one of their updates in the "updates and events" section it will jump to m.facebook.com to show me more detail.
Can i change it so that instead it goes to the android facebook app or to touch.facebook.com which i think is a much nicer mobile version of facebook.

I wonder if it has anything to do with application defaults...wether or not the android facebook app has that type of OS integration. It obv does when wanting to post a picture from your photo gallery, but since people is an HTC specific app IDK if there is a way around this.
However, I would love to be told different as its annoying to keep on having to launch browser when there is a perfectly good facebook app laying around on the phone.
Precisely. Especially because the facebook application doesnt display event details or request and then navigates you to the horrible mobile facebook when touch.facebook.com can handle it all perfectly and look pretty decent too.
Does anyone else find it a little strange that on a google phone that the standard email app allows you to pinch and zoom in emails, but the gmail app (or the mobile site for that matter) don't?! If I get an email with a large embedded image there seems to be no way to do this.
On a separate note, why has the third swype page with the cursor arrows gone? That was really useful when you're trying to navigate through text?

I agree they never allow gmail application to zoom i don't understand why !
the built in email app is just a stripped down version of k9mail which has more features.. recommend you try it.
May I add that it's frustrating that you cannot copy/paste text from the Gmail app?
It seems to me that some of the stock Google applications like the browser and gmail are left very vanilla - maybe, in the belief that 3rd party apps will fill the gap - maybe, that will be some of what they will be working on for Gingerbread (since they are claiming it will have a focus on user experience).

Just quick question
Does the K9 Mail app allow for multiple Signatures for the different emails.
Currently the Samsung Email only allows one signature for all accounts which is a step back from my Blackberry.
This multiple-app thing is exactly why the iPhone does so well...
It's not a positive when you've got two programs that do the same thing out of the box.
I realize Google doesn't have much control over this, and even if they improved their stuff that Samsung/ATT/etc would probably put all their crap on it regardless. I'm just saying there's an advantage to the iPhone found here.

Are you wanting to create a standalone application for facebook chat or a chat application similar to facebook chat?
If you are wanting to create a standalone facebook chat application you will need to look into whether facebook have a chat api you can access.
If they do, start by writing a super simple android app that connects to facebook chat and retrieves some kind of data.
And go from there.

I have using smack api for facebook chat but it doesn't connect to the facebook server .It always producing the error connection is not available
Have you added permission for internet access into your android manifest?
It's quite an easy one to miss and will mean you app can't get any internet access.
On the stock MMS app, it would only search through the contacts that you've defined to be displayed in the Phone app. This MMS app searches through all of them, even Facebook, and it's quite annoying.
Can anyone mod this or lead me in the right direction? I'd be down to pay $20!

No. I want it so that it only searches through the contacts that I've set to display. You get there from contacts -> more -> display options.
It may actually be the CM7 MMS.apk that I'm used to. I actually found a version of it in and installed and it works fine. They only thing I miss is the landscape view of the stock MMS. So if anyone can reverse engineer the CM7 apk and grab the bits that control what database to search through for contacts, I'd be willing to pay a nice sum!

Hey all so with all these new updates for Go SMS, Facebook Messenger, and other apps allowing for SMS/MMS/FB Messenger integration, I wanted to open up a discussion to get your opinions on which app you think is the best and why you think that.
I couldn't find any existing thread so I apologies in advance if you know of one that does exists.
