So my vibrant was making a back-up with clockwork (was going to be my first time flashing B 1.6) and it finished. After the Galaxy S screen it stayed black, but I left it for half an hour maybe it was loading something. It stayed black and now ive tried to odin to stock. Everything goes through, and it still stays black after the galaxy S screen. I used Odin 1.3 with 512 pit file and the stock JFD........what do I do now? The 4 icons on the bottom light up when I touch.
I have already seen the phone to pc icon and managed to get into download from that, but still its not starting? What should I do?
I get a red data wipe failed after odin says success on the phone......I've done this before, but why is it acting up this time?
Did you have the voooooodoooo lag fix? If so you need to flash this tar file EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA then put it back into download mode and flash it again with the stock Vibrant tar file and it will boot up this should work anyway for your case.

Well I was running the super dark rom + stupidfast kernal and everything was running great, until i wanted to try stupidfast 1.1.4 and i noticed that it said BLN was disabled by default and followed the link to flash a kernal (had no idea that it was a kernal and that it wasnt meant for our phone) long story short. My phone is stuck at the samsung boot screen i downloaded odin3 and downloaded all the files needed to restore, however everything i do results in the phone still being stuck at the samsung screen then rebooting over and over again

FIXED GO TO POST #12 to see how!

It sounds like all you need to do is cold start your phone in download mode. Make sure you have the correct (samsung galaxy s) drivers on your computer.
1) Turn off phone
2) Pull battery and USB out
3) Hold volume DOWN while reconnecting USB
4) Continue Holding volume DOWN and press the power button
(you may now put the battery back in)
You should see a big yellow triangle, this is download mode. From here you can use Odin to flash back to stock. Also, make sure you are flashing the correct image via. odin. We had a guy awhile back who accidentally flashed the stock mesmerize image and his phone really was bricked.
That last sentence brings a smirk to my face for some reason
I think someone needs to come up with a theme that makes the phone look like a brick

or at least a boot animation of a brick being dropped by a flying android that explodes once it reaches the bottom of the screen.
Sent from my StupidFast, SuperDark Fascinate.
After i flash the stock-i500-recovery.tar.md5 through odin and go to the recovery menu and hit apply sdcard:update.zip it gives me this error message:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verifcation failed
Installation aborted
anyone know what this means or if im supposed to be seeing this?
sounds like you still have the update.zip that clockwork creates on your phone but your not rooted (kind of a guess here). I would flash EVERTHING back with odin, remove your SD Card (where the update.zip is) and just boot the phone to see if it gets you to a setup/home screen.

tried that and the phone still continues to just hang at the samsung screen and continuously reboots over and over. and when i tried the update.zip it says there's no SD card inserted (obviously since i took it)
Try flashing the odin recovery file. It's in this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782204
It worked for me when I got that error.
GOT IT TO WORK!!!! YES ALL THE BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS PAID OFF!!! If anyone EVER runs into this issue please read this thread:

My epic won't get past the samsung galaxy S logo after I try to flash the EB13-DUALFS-KERNEL.zip on the last part of getting to clockworkmod 3.0 with EXT4, so I went back and did it several times and it still won't do nothing, so now my Epic is vibrating while staying on the S logo with the android across it, any fixes? or do I just go with Odin now?
Did u wipe atleast three times before changing file systems? Just odin back to stock eb13. when using odin make sure only Auto reboot is checked. after you odin there's a chance that screen orientation and compass will be messed up. There's a fix for that..search this forum for it. I think you go to settings-->display--->Horizontal Calibration... then you have to turn you device upside down, set it leveled and flat (still facing down) on a table with the only bottom portion of the screen showing so can hit the calibrate button.This fixes both issues. I hope you had backed up before flashing the kernel. PM me if you need more help.
I'm not sure what type of "bricked" this would be but, I tried to flash my Canadian Fido S4 I337m with a MF3 modem. I did this through Odin Mobile Pro. At first it was all good, it started to restart with a blue android figure. It started to take a really long time and nothing was happening so I decided to turn the phone off. Now the phone won't turn back on and it won't connect to the PC. I have my backup saved on my sd card but I can't get the phone to load at all.
It's currently stuck the battery charging power up screen. I can't post a picture since I haven't posted 10 times apparently... So it's the grey battery icon, the circle in the middle isn't moving whatsoever.
Did a battery pull, tried starting it in safe mode, and tried to restart it in the download mode. All of which have failed.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

The blue android figure is back. Does anyone have any information on how long this little android guy is supposed to be around for?

Download Odin 3.07 for the PC.... you flashed the wrong mode... I believe you flashed a US modem not a Canadian on... suggest NC1 can be found in the forum...
With the phone unplugged, press volume down +home+power if you get a warning, release buttons and press voulme up to go to download mode...
Start Odin.... important... take off auto reboot....
there are instructions on how to properly flash the modem... likely in the same thread you found the file.....
Flash only the modem.bin file inside the folder... do not flash the nonhalos file....
Most instructions sau flash once... reboot to download mode.. flash again....
Basically let me know if you can get to download mode... I tried to google blue android on screen but didn't find anything yet... first I have heard of blue... I have seen green dead ones though....

No, I can't seem to get into download mode. It just keeps heading on to the the blue android. I purchased a dongle jig to get it to download mode on ebay hoping that would work.
Method 1 Odin Mobile
Extract TAR and place modem.bin on Internal or External SD Card
Open mobile Odin (free version works but pro is awesome)
Select modem 2 and find extracted bin file
Press flash firmware button
System will boot to download
Hold power button for 10 seconds if download mode in green comes up.( should be blue)
Odin will install modem files
Done
This is what I was following. It said if it comes up as a blue android it's good.

If you put the modem file on an external sd card.... maybe you could pull the card, put it in a usb reader and put the proper modem.bin file on the card and put it back in the phone and power it up.... see what happens. I am guessing it couldn't finish the process because you have the wrong modem file...... Okay so now I realize you are stuck on the mobile odin logo... (blue guy) search google for how to get out of that or go to the mobile odin thread and ask chainfire... it is his app....
I've got the problem fixed. I re-flashed my whole firmware and managed to get the phone into download mode using a USB Jig. This is for reference if anyone encounters the same problem in the near future.
Thanks for the help and advice though.
So i don't know exactly what has happened to get here. I have a new Verizon Galaxy S5 that I Towel Rooted and installed Safestrap. Things were going fine and I made a nandroid backup of my Stock slot. I decided to try Alliance rom in slot 1 which all went fine and i booted into Alliance. I was customizing my phone with colors and clock position etc. Some of the icons weren't there anymore so I decided to reboot to get everything loaded back in. Well when i hit reboot the screen went black and nothing came back on. Now when I turn it on I get the Galaxy S5 splash screen and blue words at the top saying "RECOVERY BOOTING...." then it shows the Android with it's chest door open and the globe spinning, then it goes to the Android laying down with a red triangle over its chest door, and then reboots. It just loops like this. Does this mean my bootloader is corrupt? Or can I Odin flash the stock firmware and PIT?
If your bootloader was corrupt, you'd either end up on the secondary bootloader page or have a nonresponsive, brick for a phone.
So corrupt bootloader was just your guess? Because I don't see any evidence for that yet. You've ended up on the Recovery mode page or at least that is what your description sounds like (a screenshot or photo would have been good). More than likely something is just messed up in your Safestrap or custom recovery configuration.
The most obvious options would be to either check and/or reinstall Safestrap /your custom recovery. Or if you prefer, revert to full stock, then proceed from there.
The last part that you wrote is unclear.. but you imply that you can't do a normal boot at this point? Can you boot to download mode then? Pull your phone battery for ten seconds.. then press and hold the volume down key, then the home key also and then the power key. You should boot to the black download screen that shows your Knox status. If this works, then you can flash a full stock firmware from there with Odin to stabilize your system.
.
Thanks fffft for your response.
As it turns out you are correct in that the bootloader is not corrupt because I can get to download mode. I tried flashing the stock firmware back on through Odin, but that didn't work, it still just looped. What finally did work is this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880 Thanks to Misterxtc. It must have needed the PIT as well.
I have a I9505 (Galaxy S4) and after a week I rooted (with CFautoroot) my device rebooted alone and after that I could not get past the logo screen.
I could get to recovery screen but after I deleted the cache (only) I never could get back to recovery screen =/
I tried 3 different firmwares, recovery tools, etc and it didnt make a difference...
I can:
- enter download mode;
- use odin (install roms, pit, etc with no errors);
I cant:
- enter recovery mode (stuck at screen showing "recovery booting" blue text at top and logo).. neither can't go to twrp recovery.. it keeps stuck the same way
one observation is that if I turn off my phone, it actually reboots instead of shutting off. To shut off I need to pull off the battery.
And if I plug my phone on the charge, it shows the battery icon on screen but greyed out with a lightning inside.. not changing to the charging animation
I tried many installations: latest stock rom (jan/2017) downloaded directly from samsung servers (using samfirm, which by the way I completely recommend) with pit (and without it).... tried with CF autoroot.. tried with twrp.. but with no change... I can never get past logo screen =(
I think theres still something installed that could be affecting my phone, is that possible? The question is: when I install pit + rom, it removes everything?
I dont mind losing all my data, so if there's anything that I could do to restore my phone to 'original' state I would do it.
Try this:
open Odin 3.07 and uncheck everything except f reset time;
flash the phone without a pit file;
when you see the word "RESET" in the status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use buttons to boot into recovery;
wipe cache, wipe data, reboot.

I did as you told with odin 3.07 (I was using 3.11) and recovery didn't open
Its stuck with recovery booting at top screen for ~5min now.. =/
Is the model # gt-i9505 in download mode?
I did everything ok with no errors (steps 1,2,3) and ONLY AFTER that, the recovery didn't open.
And it's stuck with 'recovery booting' text at top screen until now...
obs.: I think the way I explained it seemed I didn't went on download mode but I did =)
I have a similar issue like this. for my shve330l i updated to the latest update via ota. and then flash rr rom onto the phone without issue. used it for a few days, but mobile network wasn't working that well. it wipe the clavik and cache and that's when all hell broke lose with it constantly rebooting and having the blue text with recovery booting load and it's been stuck like that for a while now. flashed the stock roms to no help with the same result.
