Well, I know that most ROMs claim to have better battery life and yada, yada, yada. But which one do you believe is the winner? I have only tried Fresh other than stock and I can't complain. But for you, which one do you feel offers the best battery life performance?!
Thanks in advance...
I got great battery life in DamageControl, but I dumped that for CyanogenMod.
This may not be the exact answer you were looking for, but I've found that using an underclocking kernel I get great battery life, even with the latest cyanogen nightly. You might want to try using SetCPU if you haven't done that already.
DamageControl
DamageControl v3.2.3 using DConfig with the profile set to battery Saver. My battery last for days (moderate use).
I believe t0ast3d de1ight has the best battery
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
All very subjective but I've been reading that Baked Snack is specifically geared towards battery life.
like above poasts state, rom does not matter, undervolt kernal + setcpu/phone setting settings does
cm heavy usage > 18 hours regular use 36 hours idle for days
Best I had was baked snack 9. 7 I got al most 24 hours on a charge with normal usage
Ava 2. 2v3 I. Got 18 hours
Cm6 barely 8 hours
sent with my evo from a secret place

I second this. I was using this setup before updating to official 2.2. I was getting about 5-6 hours of usage(I.e. When you're actually using your phone--Screen on browsing the web, using apps) plus around 20 hours of "Uptime" (standby, screen off).
I am getting equal or better battery life with the official 2.2 update. I am surprised I'm not seeing more people mention just how good battery life is with it.
BakedSnack with 3rd kernel did miracles for me

I also have been having good battery life on the official pre-release, just about on par with what I had running baked snack 9.6, which underclocked a good amount for battery life. Very pleased with the new release, I haven't had any problems going from a fresh wipe to this update.
I would bet most people haven't really noticed how good the battery life has been because they've been busy trying to restore backups, apps, and test out the camera functionality.
Best battery life I had was DC 3.2.3 with Battery config, SetCPU w/ undervoltage kernel, JuiceDefender, and Autostarts configed. Got about 26 hours moderate usage. I still get excellent battery life using the same setup on CM6, around 20-24 hours.
I'm getting great battery life with the leaked, stock 2.2
I think it is almost impossible to prove a rom has the best battery life when there are so many options/tweaks that can be done to every rom and all phones won't necessarily act the exact same.
Choose a rom based on functionality and features that appeal to you and then figure out how to obtain the battery life you want through different tweaks/usage. They all can have great battery life.

I believe people that have tried multiple ROMs can accurately assess which is better/worse in terms of battery life. Obviously there can be variations due to tweaks, apps, and usage, but it isn't difficult to get a sense of where you stand. I know I noticed a drastic increase coming from stock to Fresh.

True, what I should have said was without testing yourself and keeping variables the same, you can't just take the word of others.
What the heck?
I noticed recently that I have battery drain, and now I noticed this in the battery stats window...anyone have a clue how this comes about? (I am using stock 2.1)

I have to ask.... Why the F are you still doing on 2.1? REALLY? 2.2 improves battery life 2-5x faster application speeds and much-much more!
Sorry for being blunt but common! It's FROYO!!!
I have another Evo which i put 2.2 on and I found differences in terms of battery life and speed to be marginal at best.
Also there are more posts about people losing functionality with the custom ROMs than I can count...
I had been getting around 24 hrs of use between charges until this...
only thing lost moving to froyo is 8MP cam down to 3MP cam with the custom kernel, still takes good pictures though.

Mine came stock with 2.1, after loaded 2.2 I noticed better application execution times out of the gate. Battery at least a full 8-10 hours of use hard core use (non-4G) 4G coverage here is not that that great so it kills the battery fast. I then opted for the 3500mah batter for the evo and no longer worry about the battery but every 3 days or so...
Is it just me? I really can't believe it is. I mean there isn't even 3G where I live so my phone is set to 2G permanently, yet I can't find a Froyo ROM to last even a day. Even with all my tweaks and minimalistic settings, no luck at all.
What has been your experience on any of the Froyo roms?
Anderdroids AOSPish is the first and only froyo rom I've flashed. I was running mostly either stock or bionix stuff prior to this. I'm now getting, by far, the best battery life I've experienced since buying my phone a few months back.
Maybe give it a try if you haven't already.
Same...with JI6 I get better battery life. Everyone else it seems like they get better battery life with 2.2
I am getting GREAT life with onyx r3.1. Screen shots attached. I went over 24 hours and still had 50% battery left. That was with light usage. I included display time to show that there was an hour and 42 minutes of "usage" and also included a systempanel shot showing that in standby, it has very little power consumption.
compared with my own usage, I get better life with Froyo. Mainly because of the google cloud for push notification for IM apps. before my IM app would drain the battery due to pulling.

Very nice. I couldn't get more than 16 hours on onyx r3. Are you using 3 or 3.1?
i have gotten excellent battery life on all roms except macnut 12.
I'm also getting incredible battery life. Are you reconditioning?

how much of a difference are you getting?? i was getting amazing battery life with r10 and also with the very first leaked 2.2 from eugene. i just flashed r12 and just finished reconditioning my batters... just wondering what to expect.
I am using Onyx 3.1 from TWs site.
After reading the write up of how the battery works, I don't do any kind of conditioning and my battery has just gotten better.

When I ran 2.1 I had about 10 hours of life. Running Axura gives me about 12.
Sexed by Axura
axura is good when it comes to battery for me. i'm at 91% for 2 hours with 40 minutes of usage.

I think I am doing ok here....
14 hours with 2.5 hours of web browsing and 40 min phones calls, 2 hours 20 min on wifi
Extended battery for the vibrant
Use this and your battery life more than doubles. It is very comfortable, rubberized coating, and the battery rocks. The door is quite thin considering and fits comfortably in the hand. They are also going to make custom clear protectors for the entire phone and have them up for sale within 2 weeks.

Same here. Flashed 12 yesterday and love it for everything EXCEPT the awful battery life.
Is there any other Froyo ROM that does not show text messages in the call log, because that's the biggest reason I am using Macnut 12 right now... ?
Ive been using the Odin Froy for almost a week and i get better battery life that stock JI6. I have yet to condition the battery so Im sure Ill get better after I do that. Ive had good luck so far with this.
it really does depend on the kernel you're using. I know TW for a lot of the newest releases uses a modified I9000 kernel, which causes battery drain, relatively speaking.
Check This out:
Yes, that is hr:mm. and my phone had been running for ~5 hours with only that much drop.

Eugene's Macnut R11 used the stock JK2 kernel and had amazing battery life. I just flashed back to it from R12 today. Right now the battery usage app is telling my I have 33 hours left as opposed to the 12-13 I it displayed with R12. There's something about the I9000 kernels that drains the battery while in sleep mode that nobody's been able to figure out yet.

Which rom are you running. Which kernal? I've been getting terrible battery life with v3.1 tw obsidian, by far the worst of all the roms I've tried. I'm barely getting 12-16 hours with light use. I was running fusion and getting excellent battery life.
So I had the same battery problems as everyone. I went through the common sense things (reducing sync rates, disabling Talk), added juicedefender and got better but still barely useable power life.
Then flashed Fresh 3.4.0.1 and then later 3.5.0.1 and netarchy 4.1.9 CFS with HAVS kernel. Now the battery stays in the 90s for 2 hours with moderate use and lasts all day when previously with my daily use I'd have to change batteries mid afternoon.
HUGE, HUGE improvement guys. Thanks for the hard work.
Fresh and Netarchy are a match made in heaven for battery life. Especially if you have an extended.
Yeah if you find a good combo, stick with it!
I'm on Myn's with Hero's Baked Kernel 6.
Herver was always into battery improvements, and that kernel is in the freaking hall of fame. It's sooo good.
Match that with Myn's classy Rom (pretty much themed better than Gingerbread) and you got a match made in heaven.
So I was running Bionix 1.3.1 and by the end of everyday, I have like ATLAEST 50% battery left.
And now that I've switched over to Trigger, it's only been 8 hrs and my batter is at like 59.
I mean it isn't that bad, but it doesn't compare at all to Bionix.
Yes, I've use the BatteryCalibration app on Trigger.
What modem are you using? Bionix 1.3.1 was KA7 I think while trigger is KB5. Those are fairly different modems with KB5 known for good data speed at the expense of battery life. Flash KA7 or whatever modem Bionix was using and see if it helps. Could also consider another kernel.
did you give it a couple of days?
The simple answer is that trigger is a amazingly awesome experience. You find yourself unable to put your phone down resulting in faster battery drain. I had the same problem.
Samsung Vibrant
Trigger 2.9.3
I can run the same bionix v 1.3.1 gaming all day and get 24hrs +. What modems/kernels are you using. And how can you know anything about a rom without giving it a week or so?
Sent from my badass t959 2543 quadrant, 20.193 linpack using bionix v 1.3.2 + bullet 1.42oc
Of all the roms I ever used Axura hands down was best battery life and best GPS
You must be lucky on Bionix I never god very good battery life out of it
Trigger Is pretty good I get 14 hrs with mod to heavy use and still above 50%
You may have you phone set up in a way that is causing some drain. Look at the Gallery, that often is a culprit.
If you do not like battery drain then I would advise you to stay away from 2.3 roms they use more battery for sure.....
Try the Bali 1.8.4 Kernel. It really helped my battery life. I use the KB1 Modem because that is what the developer of Bali was using. Not sure if I should be using KB5 or not, but it seems to work well with Trigger 3.2 Final. Smooth, fast with good battery life.
Edit: Thanks to the link on the OP, I'm going to try KB5 modem and see if there is a difference.

I was using this same Rom and Kernel and only got 1600 for a quadrant score and never got 24hrs of use out of it. It was more like 6 to 7 hours. Can you elaborate more on how you got such good battery life and scores? I had SetCpu running the OC and used TB to freeze unnecessary bloat, but still no love.

He was not gaming all day...guaranteed.
Display time is what it's about, which many people fail to mention.
The most display time you'll get on average is probably anywhere from 3.5 to 5 hours max on a basic 1500 mah battery. He probably got 24 hours with 3 to 4 hours display use. I assume with 6 to 7 hours of battery life, 4-5 of those are display?
Im running trigger 3.02 or something like that with the overstick 154 and wifi calling installed and running from8 to 5 and I get 3.4 to 4 % battery drain per hour. I feel that is really good with wifi calling. If I freeze wifi calling I drop to 2-3% per hour hour. I have my setup phone setup to sync all the time and 1min display time out. I normally get about a full day(24 hours) with wifi calling calling 8 hours with 1 hour or so of calls on both wifi and network and 30-40 txt meshours and 1-2 hours of gaming. Oh and the display is set to minimum. I felt those are pretty good numbers. But my fiancees nexus one on 2.3.4 gets 4 hours of non stop gaming and still has 20% battery left.
