Beehive battery drain - G2 and Desire Z General

Beejive running on 2.2 uses the push api to my knowledge. But it seems like its murdering my g2 battery. Is it all in my head?
My android system drain seems to be higher then my screen drain. Its usually the other way around. What do u guys think?

Nope, beejive is really a battery drainer. I don't think it uses push correctly? Lol

Yeah I agree. I think it's like this across all devices

Battery life.

I havehorrible batter life and it takes forever for this phone to charge and it overheats. I'm using the andromeda kernal and OC widget. Can someone tell me some settings I should use? Or tweaks or whatever? I'm talking non-commonsense stuff (not stuff like "turn 4g off")

Turn on Airplane mode and leave it on. Tell people to call you on the house phone. Your battery life will improve dramatically.
The radio really sucks up tht much power, huh? :/ I wish sprint used simcards so I can have a reason to lug around my hero for when I'm out for more than 3 hours

Wow, 3 hours huh? I'm at least getting 8. I was getting 15 or 20 hours, but then started putting lots of widgets on my screens and that really killlllllllllled it
I usemy phone a lot. I was spoiled by my hero. I was getting days on a single charge with the same usage, if not, more. I wish I knew what's killing it so fast :/ spare prts says the screen is a majority of power consumption, but I usually have brightness on 0 (its plenty bright enough. It seems brighter than my hero at 50% ).

Has anyone else noticed a significance in battery life?
I have an average of 56-60 hours my max idle was 81hrs....

I've gotten slight improvements, but what you're getting is insane... how'd you manage that?
I could never let my phone idle long enough to find out how many hours it would last. But I easily get a full day on cm7 with my regular use.
Only had it a day. But from where i've noticed holding the wildfire/aria next to each-other doing the same tasks with wifi on [ones got service, other doesnt yet] the wildfire was out to 80% in less than half an hour streaming music from pandora. Aria was at 95% with CM7 [even overclocked]. Although the wildfire is approx 3 months older, that seems amazing in my opinion.
Ultimate juice our even juice defender with power control plus..both have free and almost the exact same it's insane.
Anything to toggle data is recommend for battery life, but that's a given....

Just my 2 cents, A profiling tool for over/under clocking. Over for when your hard at work, playing videogames and whatnot. And underclock for when the device is serving 0% use. That seems something that should be implemented into android.

most custom roms, especially aosp ones, give you a much better battery life because they put the control into your hands; you can customize your phone to be used how you see fit.

Display always 75% or higher

I don't know what happened but I'm having issues. I cannot get the display to fall below 75% and it sucks because between my EVO stock battery and my extended battery you can actually see the battery life being sucked away rapidly.

I have the same issue, it is isolated to Sense roms. It doesn't happen with AOSP, which is why those are the only roms I can use due to the battery life. We had a thread going for a while with some other people who had the same problem, but nobody could really get to the bottom of it. I reached out to Aamikam but he couldn't really help or didn't want to. I didn't know if a logcat or anything would have helped but no one really answered me. It happens on froyo and gingerbread sense roms, and I never had the issue for a long time but then I noticed it the first time on MikFroyo 4.62. I've tried everything since then but no results.
Only thing to do right now is switch to an AOSP rom, I highly recommend Team Nocturnal's Xplod. Very smooth with Tiamat 3.3.7 kernel and more eye candy than CM7. I would love to be able to use MikG again but my battery literally dies in 4 hours, regardless if I'm using the phone or not.
Alot of ppl seem to think that 75 percent or more of display is bad. Really it isn't. The battery stats need to equal 100 percent. On sense roms that's the way it is and there is nothing wrong with it. Now if your experiencing high.android system usage, that's a problem. As long as everything else is relatively low, its all good
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Its after I installed the new update. Even downgraded to earlier gingerbread and still 75 plus.
Yes my system is low but I can watch my battery meter lower in realtime. Well I guess its time for a new toy.

If your actively using your phone and it drains rapidly that's pretty normal in my experience. But if its draining a lot during idle, check for a rogue running app. Otherwise not using auto brightness is a good mentioned trick along with underclocking with a new kernel should help
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It has to do with the use of a generic power_profile.xml. Neither CM or stock use correct values for this.

You don't get it...this is not normal display usage. I remember what my battery usage and battery life was like before this problem came up and there was a huge difference. Before, cell standby was my highest usage and I could get 25-30 hours on a charge. Then display usage shot up to 90% give or take some, and battery life dropped to 4-8 hours. I can understand if display was slightly higher than everything else, but display is at 75-95% while everything else is under 5 or 10. There is absolutely no reason why the display usage should be that high even when the screen has been OFF the entire time. That's not normal. I have multiple screen shots to back it up.

Android os running at 30%

Does any one else Android os show as running very high?
My phone has been off charge for 9 hours and has barely been used as I've been very busy at work.
So far it had kept my device awake for 55 minutes and is sitting at 24%.
It does go as high as 30% and even a little bit higher than that at times.
Is this normal? I'm pretty sure it should b with 10%

Mine usually only does it when I have a live wallpaper running.
If you aren't using the phone then Android OS will be the only thing (plus phone and few other things) are gonna be the only thing there.
In general Live Wallpapers and Maps (Location) is what causes it to go up.

Yeah I understand that but it's usually like phone idle that uses the juice if the phone isn't used.
When I first got the nexus 4. The percentage the battery would drop was like 1% per hour but it seems to drop a bit faster now.
My gnex was always within 10% and usually no higher than like 6%...
Oh well I can live with it. The battery drain ain't that bad on it. Once I use the phone the% seem to drop pretty fast so I can see where your coming from.
Thanks for the reply

@OP,
Do you have any app such as GrooveIP that keeps connection alive? If yes, they consume battery and are reported as "android os" in battery stats.
This happens to me when csipsimple (SIP client) is running in the background.

Battery life? + Roms

Does anyone know a Rom that has a lot of battery life with moderate usage? I've tried a lot, but I would like your inputs on it.
While I'm at it, might as well ask all of you what roms your using? I'm using Viper touch 2.1.4 right now.
Edit: using sabsa prime now

I am using Dark Unicorn 2.5.
I was on CM7 for a few weeks, but the ROM was really slow and everything lagged. For instance, when I turned on the screen and unlocked, it took it roughly 5-10 seconds to respond before I could do anything. Other features didn't work, including the Market. I read over 100 posts about this Market issue, and couldn't resolve it. It led me to Dark Unicorn.
Dark Unicorn is insane amazing. Everything works (except720p recording). I have had no bootloops, no random shutoffs, nothing. I am trying to kill the battery as we speak and I cant! I just had the screen on full bright ON all the time, wireless, GPS, bluetooth, and music on for the last 2 hours and it only dropped 20%. I left it on all night with the screen off, 100% charge and it was still 100% in the morning. That includes the Data + Sync being on. On top of it all, I have it clocked at 1.2 right now.
I am thoroughly impressed with this ROM. I cannot gripe because I appreciate the developers work, however, if I had to have one complaint it's that there is no option to turn of haptic feedback for the screen off and on slide. I have disabled it all across the phone, but when unlocking it vibrates.
For anyone who cares, I am using the MDJ Kernel as well.
:good:
Nice I'll try that ROM again! Last time I had some CPU problems, but that was all my fault lol.

What would be the largest battery for this phone. Right now I'm using the one I got with the phone. On the box it says the battery is 1500mAh, and on the battery it says it's 1400mAh. There are "oversized" batteries but you have to take off the rear metal plate and you can't use cases designed for the OE phone size specs. The largest I think I've seen was something like 3500 mAh (again, no rear metal plate to hold battery in but they come with an extra one that's extended and holds the larger battery in otherwise it would fall out), largest that actually fits inside the phone was like 1600 mAh. Perfect for playing Ingress but terrible for using as a daily driver.
