Any just a simple question but it is confusing me.
How do I flash my radio, is it in the same way as you do a OS Rom or different??
Feedback would be appreciated
Search please

I have read this link and it all appears straight forward but when I try to flash to a new radio rom it goes to a grey screen and then seems to hang for ages and then I have to reboot.
I am going through exact same process as if I was installing a new cooked rom....is this is correct.?? does it hang and for how long??
Also the ROM update utility asks me if I want to replace my current rom in this case ASerg4 but I thought I was only replacing the radio part.....this is were I am totally confused.
Sorry to be a pain.
i'm having a very, v..e..r..y s..l..o..w internet connection. Do I need to flash my radio?

Do not worry, radio will reflash only the radio part.
Radio update can be minutes...longer time than rom flash...

Hi guys,
this is my first post in this forum.
A couple of days I've already been browsing through the forums and the wiki, and now I have a few simple questions regarding flashing of roms.
I'm the owner of a BLAC100 in the O2 Germany version (Rom:1.14.207.2 (241011) GER, Radio: 1.09.25.14)
As O2 has not (yet) offered their version of the 1.56.407.2 Rom I was thinking of flashing the generic version using USPL.
Ultimately I'm hoping to run a fully working Android on the device, but till then I'll probably have to wait a little longer.
Is it possible after flashing a different rom to completely restore the device to factory settings? (Is there a rom available?)
What happens to the software installed on SD?
I guess I'll have to reinstall that too?
THX in advance,
Kayoz
Welcome to the forum!
I assume the BLAC100 is the Blackstone?
I also have the touch hd originally from O2 Germany.
If you want to flash a new ROM, but you still want to keep the original SPL, then don't install an HSPL, but instead use USPL. Of course, if you were to use HSPL, you could always go back and put the original SPL for warranty purposes. It's really up to you. I've always only used USPL.
If one day you want your original stock ROM, then download it from this list here.
Wiki: Stock ROMs
Just scroll down to the Germany section, and pick the one that applies to you.
There are some great instructions on flashing ROMs here.
Follow them closely - especially if you want to flash a 1.56 ROM - you'll need to first update your SPL/HSPL/USPL to a 1.56 version. It is all explained in that tutorial.
I use Dutty's 3.7 XT ROM and it's great. I have used his ROMs since v2.1.
When you flash a new ROM, you'll most likely need to install the programs on your SD card again (at least - I have always had to). You can use a program like spb Backup to make an image of your device after you are done installing all your programs and adjusting all your settings. If you have to hard-reset, you can just restore that backup file and in no time you'll have all your programs back. However, if you flash a different ROM, that backup file will likely not work with it.
restore the device to factory settings == the rom you flashed's factory settings
there is no behind the screen rom you can always revert to after you flash your device
if change the rom you change the rom
only way to go back to how your phone was bought is to flash it again
with the rom version it came with like you would any other rom
Thanks for the quick replys!

There seem to be 3 different O2 roms (all of them appear to be homemade) which is the right one/what are the differences?
Or is it possible to create an image of the rom i have on the device atm, and revert back to that later?

Correction: Hmm, I just looked into it. Some do seem to be "homemade" or altered roms. (for example see this discussion). Thanks for pointing it out. I was under the impression they were 100% original stock roms.
I can't tell you what the differences are. It looks like the O2 roms are all the same. This table shows you the various stock roms in each country (scroll down). There it only shows O2 germany as having ROM 1.14.207.2(24011)
Correction: (old info erased) My original O2 rom was 1.14.207.2(24011). The 1.14.407.3 was once I flashed later.
Check your phone right now. Go to settings, system tab, device information and look and see what version it says you have. You can also look at the red numbers when you start your phone. Write those down, as they say your ROM and radio info etc...

Making an "image" doesn't mean you are saving the whole ROM. I'm not a cook, so I can't tell you how you could do that. But maybe these links will help:

I had my stock ROM for several weeks. And once I flashed Dutty's ROMs I never went back. I use his latest ROM right now (3.7 XT).
I made quite a few changes to my previous post, so you might want to read it again. I had some mistakes in there. I also included some new links with info if you are interested in backing up your current "true" stock rom. It would be really helpful for the rest of us too, since apparently the "stock" roms provided in the wiki are not 100% stock. I don't know if the altered stock roms in the wiki would be recognized as such and therefore void the warranty.

In my understanding making an image of the rom (dumping the rom) is basically saving all the contents of the rom.
If not please tell me what would be missing.

Yes, I believe you are right, but I am not sure if there are any hidden files or boot files that you need to make sure are included in there. And then, once you dump it, you have to make it "installable". My knowledge is not good in that area, so I don't want to give you information that could be wrong or misleading.
The best thing would be to post a thread in the Blackstone ROM Development forum.

Here is a link to Dutty's latest ROM for WM 6.1
It is faster and more user friendly and nicer design than my original stock ROM. It also has the new Manila version with the new contact cards etc... You can also use Manila in portrait or landscape mode.
It has extra useful apps without making the ROM a big bloat.
Check out the thread for details.

Here is a thread devoted to ROM extraction and creation.

ok, so I've read some more material and successfully dumped my rom, now working on reconstructing it so it can be flashed back onto the device.
I also did (my first) hard reset and I noticed after the hard reset the protocol version of the device changed from:
52.49a.25.26U
to:
52.49a.25.26H
anyone knows what that means?

Cool! Great to hear. It looks like we might now have a true 100% stock ROM for O2 Germany. (Assuming you'll share it with us )
Unfortunately I don't know the difference in protocols. Maybe someone else can help.
So, I've been playing around those last couple of days trying to reconstruct my rom.
I've been unsuccessful so far. When I'm trying to do nbsplit on a stock rom and then run imgfsfromnb on the payload i always end up with an empty imgfs.bin.
I also tried using Part02.raw as imgfs.bin directly then it only tells me not to use the created imgfs-new.bin.
anyone might know what i could be doing wrong?

Kayoz,
I was wondering, were you ever able to reconstruct your ROM?
Im looking to flash a different ROM onto my phone, but I am unwilling until I have a copy of my current ROM on my THD.
Does anyone know if it matters if two ROMs are identical in all aspects except for the protocol versions?
My ROM comes with
ROM version: 1.18.707.3 (23358) WWE
ROM date: 12/10/08
Radio version: 1.09.25.14
Protocol version: 52.49a.25.26W

But the closest that I was able to find was the RUU_BlackStone_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.18.707.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe which has a slightly different protocol.
Cheers.
Hey everyone,
There are multiple discussions going on here, and it is confusing me a lot.
I just need a FULL step-by-step guide for removing the Telstra ROM and installing the latest official HTC ROM on my device since Telstra put a LOT of garbage on the phone, even at startup and launching the Opera browser.
So again, step-by-step is the best option and I am willing to donate $10 via PayPal to whoever can help me out.
Please reply quickly, I eagerly wait!

What Telstra Rom version are you running?
I'm running 1.49.841.1 (71528) WWE. It is the default out of the box Telstra ROM which I sort of hate (too much garbage and branding, even when loading up Opera it says Telstra).
I just need a step-by-step guide on removing it and installing the Official HTC ROM on it.
Waiting for more replies.
Read the stickies. They are most important.
Hi Steve,
actually the Step-by-step is pretty easy:
Step 1: Download and install HSPL. Your existing ROM version should allow you to do this with no fiddling at all. Just hook up the phone via USB, and run the HSPL executable.
Step 2: Select the ROM you want to use. I haven't tried any of the official ROMs, as I find the cooked ones to be more desirable. I only mention this is a step because depending on which ROM you want to use, you may need to flash the radio as well.
Step 3: If you are using a ROM requiring a new radio (which many of the newer ones do), and the ROM you are installing does not include a radio ROM (most cooked ROMs don't, but i believe many of the stock ones do), download and install the appropriate radio (please see notes below). Again, just connect the phone via USB, and run the radio installer.
Step 4: Download and install the ROM you want. With HSPL installed this is again as easy as connecting via USB and running the ROM installer. Don't worry too much about MTTY at this stage - you won't need it unless you reflash several times.
That's about it. I've reflashed mine dozens of times with no problems at all. As a footnote, some people on the forums have reported problems with flashed NextG phones not connecting to the internet properly after flashing. I have tried lots of cooked ROMs (and several radios too), and so far not one has affected my ability to connect to HSDPA. My experience has been that the 2.06 radios seem to work best, while the 2.07 and earlier 2.08 got really bad reception. 2.08.50.08_2 works beautifully with mine and gets very strong reception (with maybe a little more battery drain than 2.06). The only thing I have noticed is that the available bands displayed in 3G settings may not list the 850 band - this is cosmetic only and can be changed with a simple REG file, but really isn't necessary.
Please let me know if you need any help or advice - I'd be happy to help in any way that I can......
Hey,
Yes I have actually read most of the stickies, there is only one problem.
I can't really put all the pieces of the puzzle in a good order, step-by-step. I just need to know how to do it step-by-step because right now they are all over the place and it is a little confusing.
@cheesekeeper: that is a really nice post, would you be able to add in a little more detail on how to do it such as how to install HSPL, which version and where to download.
Also, where would I download the official HTC ROM, because when I try the official website, I can't enter in my S/N because it says it isn't compatible with my device.
Any ideas? Thx!!
Would anyone mind making a video tutorial on how to do this?
The tutorial on how to flash a new rom is a summation of all steps and is as step by step as you can get. You first need to see if you can get a copy of your original rom though, so you can return to this in the event of any problems and if you need to return your phone for a warranty claim.
Then as Cheeskeeper says you'll need to install hspl. Provided your current spl is 1.42.0000 then it is easy to do. Connect to usb and run the exe file.
Then you will need to flash your new radio. Most of the newer roms require either radio 2.07 or 2.08 - there is a radio thread also in the stickies. When you extract the file you will find a .nbh file which you will need to rename to RUU_Signed.nbh (if it isn't already), download the CustomRUU and put this into the same folder as the radio file above (only these 2 files). Run the CustomRUU and the radio will be flashed.
Then flash to your rom of choice. Again there will be a RUU file and a nbh file. You can just run the RUU file (again with just the RUU and nbh files in a folder) and the rom will be installed.
After flashing do a hard reset. When the phone boots up pull the battery out and while holding the vol up and down buttons in, switch the phone on and follow the instructions on screen. That's it, done.
If you want to keep to a stock rom though without changing your spl then you will need to use sspl.
You'll find all of the steps and tools in the link at the bottom of my signature. There is also a video of the process in the stickies.
I'd suggest starting by looking at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
This pretty much explains everything you need to get started, and has links to HSPL in the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
This one contains download links to most of the radio ROMs in the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577717
This has links to many of the stock ROMs. All of these are stickies in this group so they are pretty easy to find. If you want to try a cooked ROM instead (I'd suggest taking a look) you can find posts and links right throughout this forum - the most popular ROMs are always within the first 1-2 pages of posts......

Switch phone off, hold volume down button and switch on. It will boot into a three coloured screen and will show spl version.
Do a soft reset while holding down volume until u see the bootloader screen.
Report back to us with what it states....
Once complete, getting out of the bootloader screen requires another soft reset via the red button....

No, that's the right spl for using hspl. To get back to normal, either pull the battery or press the little red button under the battery cover, as stated by band27 above.

There is also a link to a Shared folder with many different versions. I believe the latest official is 1.66, but there are roms from T Mobile US going up to 2.10. For 1.66 you probably won't need to change your radio, but you will for the later roms. What radio version do you have?

Depending on the cooked rom downloaded. 2.07 and 2.08 releases extra RAM for your device to use and thus it's required if the cook decided to go that route.
I can send you a message privately about recommendations as to not offend cooks. My signature is one of the ROM's I use as another indicator to know what people are selecting.

before you install hspl to your hd2, you must back-up your Official Stock rom, so that you will have no worries uninstalling your hspl by flashing to sd card....
Hi volkansa, Thanks for help to answer my question.
Dio you mind to give me the link and instruction to do this HSPL and how to back up the original ROM just incase I got in trouble. Im very rookie on this
Thanks
Actually, I don't know any backup tool for full rom. But you don'y need to backup current rom. If you install HSPL, you can use any customized rom when you are any trouble. For example My first rom was crashed, and I downloaded another customized rom and I had easily install another customized rom with CustomRUU.exe file.
- For HSPL instruction, you should check first page of HTC Leo: HD2 > HD2 ROM Development section. You will see "[HSPL] How to Flash Everything " on that section. Then click it the link.
- and find the link of HSPL.zip then download and install it from your computer while your phone connected to your pc with ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center which are depends your Windows Operation System. If you use XP you should use ActiveSync; if you use Vista or Windows 7 you should use Windows Mobile Device Center.
- After installation your phone will restarted and then it will be ready for new customized roms.
- Now you need to get backup of your personal datas such as Messages, Contact List, Call Logs, Speed Dial records etc. I use PimBackup utility for them you can try it, if you want. It's very easy. And also you should use Storage Device for backup. It's very important. If you use main storage, you will lost your backups after flashing new rom.
- Then pick you favorite roms and download it. Then use instruction of that customized rom. That's it. You have a new rom

You have to download your Official Stock Rom...so that you will have no problem uninstalling HSPL...you can uninstall HSPL by flashing thru sd card....
is it spl 1.42.000 xe? if then...you can install HSPL to your phone....
to get out the bootloader mode..you have to get the battery out and put it back again....

Don't worry. Also I bought my HD2 from Taiwan. Official Rom was Taiwanese. Now, I use Customized rom which is English
Firstly you need to install HSPL, and then you can install any of customized rom. It's very easy. You can use an English rom in few minutes. I use XannyTech Pandora 1.6 and I'm very happy with this rom. You should use too.

hi .. I'm sorry if my thread before it has been a lot of asking. I want to upgrade my ROM with stock ROM instead of a Custom ROM
I am still confused about the flash ROM for the HTC HD Mini. because there are some threads that explain how to flash ROM for HD Mini using SSPL, but there also explain how to flash ROM ROM is just enough to download it, then extract the *. zip file to an empty folder.
I ask you please explain the steps to perform properly flash the stock ROM.
so what differences do not flash with SSPL by using SSPL was what?
thank you
stock ROM's can be found here
the steps are just like for PC's software's ..click next..next..
SSPL is used for custom ROM's so not your case.
