Stock 2.1 build.prop fingerprint - HTC Aria General

I have a rooted Aria running a stripped down stock rom. Unfortunately, this has some unwanted side effects on the android market. Does anyone have the factory fingerprint lines from the boot.prop file?
Mine is:
ro.build.fingerprint=cingular_us/htc_liberty/liberty/liberty:2.1-update1/ERE27/1.25.502.12_192055:user/release-keys
ro.product.version=1.25.502.12

This is from the rock-stock HTC rom from htc.com:
ro.build.fingerprint=cingular_us/htc_liberty/liberty/liberty:2.1-update1/ERE27/179042:user/release-keys
ro.product.version=1.25.502.2

I have one (I assume you meant build.prop) from Liberated Aria r012 that works fine in the market:
ro.build.fingerprint=cingular_us/htc_liberty/liberty/liberty:2.1-update1/ERE27/179042:user/release-keys
ro.product.version=Liberated Aria R012 (US)
If you don't like that, there is another thread in this forum where Attn1 has posted the stock roms that you can unzip and get that file.

Yes thank you, that's what I needed. It looks like the liberated rom I am running has an update to fix this issue for me, r012. Which is good because I couldnt get any of my apps to mount /system in r/w mode. Unfortunately, new rom don't seem to fix this for me, still can't see square on the market... Must be something to do with the date wipe requirement. Need to find out how that works.

You need to wipe market data. You can use Titanium backup. You can mount /system r/w from recovery only.

bkmo, your the man (twice, once for the other post! ! Downloaded the free version of titanium, selected the market app for backup, deleted all data and it worked like a charm! Excellent advice, none of the other methods were working for me!

Hurray!
Using the following instructions and the old Aria fingerprint from here I was able download protected apps from the market again. I did need to reboot my Aria into recovery mode to move the build.prop file and clear the Market app cache before it worked though.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...ected-app-market-fix-tutorial-build-prop.html
Someone should make an app for this (and that would remove it when its finally fixed for real), just like the Eris Market Fix app.

[Q] Deleting Files on internal Memory -R- ????

I have been trying to delete copilot from \system\apps\copilot.apk
It is read only.
I am using the offical 2.2 froyo and have used z4root to root the device and installed android mate as a file manager to try and delete it. Android mate triggers the pop-up telling me it wants root access and i allow it but still cannot delete the dam file.
Its annoying me because the copilot icon is in my applications and extracts and imstalls every time its clicked.
Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this file, preferably without buying applications to do so.
Thankyou
you need to explicitly mount the file system as R/W
no idea if the program
you're using can do that..
you can do it manually in a terminal
su
mount remount,rw /system
or using root file explorer (paid app)
and also IF ROOTED, you can use Titanium Backup and delete the app, and make a backup if you think the app will mess up something.

Yeah they say you learn something new everyday.
A couple of days ago something I installed something (still not sure what) locked my streak in airplane mode, so I restored streak to factory settings & was surprised that it was still rooted after.

Anyone have a Froyo Archos with full Market Protected App access

After the market fix has been applied I see most apps (including some that I know are protected) but not all. From my experience on the DroidX, this is usually an issue with the build.prop not reporingt a valid ROM to google.
For example, I can search on my DX for "wii controller ime" and find the app. My Archos 101 does not. (I side loaded it.)
If someone has a build.prop for an Archos Gen 8, that will see that send it my way please.
Can you tell me what you've changed in the build.prop of your DX?
ok, done:
I just took the fingerprint from a galaxy tab:

This sounds cool! Is there a way a non rooted device can get this? Perhaps by some installation.apk
Thanks
Definitly not possible without root. I don't know if it's even possible with temproot

Yeah, basically you need to fool the market into thinking you have a certified device. Not an easy task from what I understand. If you have a rooted Android phone you can download te app there, then use Titainium Backup to get the apk off the phone and side load it on you Archos. At least tha is what I do.

Hi chulri,
I follow your instruction above by modifying the fingerprint in /system/build.prop, then did the same market fix as instructed by the gappsinstall thread, reboot. I still can't find the gun bros app.
What else I have to do? (I had 2.1.4 rw root installed before doing this)
Now "My Apps" list is gone in the Google Market, can I get the list back?
Update: ok, it works now. I have to clear cache, clear data, force stop and then run the Market again. Now Gun Bros also shows up, and My Apps list also populate.
I still can't find Heywire app, anyone can see this app after this mod?
I have used archangel to root, then used marketenabler app from the market,
no other steps involved.
I seem to see all apps now (not 100% sure on that) but, definately see some protected apps that I couldnt see before and havent come across any on my HTC Desire that the Archos isnt seeing now.

[Solved]I think the Market Fix trick only work in old Market, it means you need to "Uninstall updates" after clean cache and force stop the Market.
Can someone please post up step by step how to edit the build.prop file ??
I've never done such a thing and I'm desperately trying to figure this out for a guide that I'm working on putting together..
I'm rooted (perma root) FWIW
Thanks a TON.
I use a file manager to copy the file to the sd and then connect to the computer via usb and edit with notepad++.. don't use windows notepad or wordpad as I've had problems with them. After the file is edited.. safely disconnect from the computer. Then I add .bak to the end of the original file and then copy the new edited file over to replace it.
I hope that helps. I believe there are also text editors in the market, but I like editing with a real keyboard.

Here: I"ve used the RootExplorer method detailed in this forum:
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/154976-2-2-market-issues-use-mod.html
Also to all: There are two states possible with the Market. Fixed if you the clear cache hack, unfixed if you do not do it or if you undo it...(to undo just do the clear Cache path but add clear data....no need to stop googleservicesframework and no need to reboot...just restart Market app and accept legal terms). The difference fixed state gives more apps but will hide some others from you: you get google maps, zeam, ADW, ...but you loose Google Earth, Flash Player 10, TVU, .... Jus to name a few. So the key thing is to know how to quicly switch from one state to the other. use the clear cache hack to get into fixed state and use my undo rootine (clear data) to revert the fix.
Once you add the fix to build prop you pretty much have now 4 possible states:
Please see my post below for my tests on the 4 different states and some conclusions
http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=48312
Here's how to very easily undo the fix if you need to...
..Once you've done the Market fix you do not need to reinstall Market to go back to state before applying the fix. Once you do the Market fix you will gain access to few more apps but many apps requiring froyo will no longer show up anymore: that's the case of apps like TVU, Flash 10, .... (there must be many more). I suspect the market fix makes the device and generic device but not a froyo one.
To go back an forth between the fix and the original state all you need is to do this;
go to Settings --- Applications --Manage Applications ---Running -- Market ---Clear Cache ----Clear Data --Force Stop--Relaunch Market ---Accept Terms and Conditions ---
Voila. and you're back to the original State where you can find flash 10 & other froyo only apps.
If you do the the fix...you loose flash ..but gaine other apps...the fix skip the Clear Data steps ...and the Clear Data step will undo the fix. THe fix requires reboot..To undo it you do not need to reboot and do not need to stop googleframework.
I do this fix and after seach keyword "adnroid" i get about 143000 apps.
Is it ok?

Yes, that's fine...you good...fixed state, fixed buld.prop
but note you may still not see some apps with are available in unfixed state, fixed build.prop (like TVU, Google Earth, Adobe Connect, flash 10.01,..)
That's the con of fixed state...you gain some you loose some....

[ROM][2.1] Eclair Strikes Back v2 [2011.06.23]

Since there's been some interest in comparing the 2.2 ROMs with the 2.1, here are some stock eclair nandroid images based on the Cincinnati Bell 2.1 ROM that can be used in OpenRecovery without flashing SBFs. You can use these to switch between 2.1 and other 2.2 ROMs without bothering with RSD Lite/sbf_flash.
Of course gallery key, camera and FM radio work well on these. Although, I've been having market problems (paid apps fail to download). Hopefully that will resolve itself if/when market decides to self-update... In the interim, I recommend using something like Titanium Backup to migrate your paid apps.
Eclair Strikes Back v2 (2011.06.23)
This is a tweaked version of CBW_eclair_STR_U2_04_1E_1.zip with some tricks we've been using in 2.2 (expanded apns-conf.xml, JIT from FrozenEclair, memhack to move dalvik-cache to /cache, egl.cfg hack to disable software rendering).
eclair-strikes-back-v2-beta.zip (the beta is now final )
Changes since v1:
ext-partition support compatible with the stock221-derived ROMs*
Automatic swap support for fjfalcon's fastboot kernel
Automatic support for link2sd (either FAT extra partition or stock221's /sd-ext/link2sd method)
Additional cpu governors (conservative, interactive)
Market upgraded to 2.2.7
*dalvik-cache on /sd-ext is not supported by default on this ROM.
Previous release: Eclair Strikes Back v1
eclair-strikes-back.zip
2011-06-16 Update to fix market on ESB v1 (upgrades market to 2.2.7)
Stock 2.1 (Cincinnati Bell)
This is a rooted version of Cincinnati Bell's STR_U2_04.1E.1 with OpenRecovery support pre-installed.
CBW_eclair_STR_U2_04_1E_1.zip
Hey Mioze do you have the app2ext script that is in the Bluesteel rom? Might try your eclair nands with it and see what i get.
I've finally successfully downloaded and installed a paid app from the market now on Eclair Strikes Back. Market is still old one though... not sure why it's taking so long to update to new one. When I did a factory reset on stock 2.1 soon after I bought the phone the market updated itself pretty quickly IIRC.
Still, this feels so smooth and fast....
EDIT:
And don't seem to be having downloading issues with any apps, be it paid or free anymore. Maybe you'll have to manually replace the market.apk with the new one though, since I'm not sure it's ever going to self-update.

And what about moving applications to the sd? available or will be applied app2sd?. Open recovery will still work? I have some applications that are supported only from 2.2, they can no longer be installed .... of course there will have to sacrifice something.
I at the continuing problems of delay in opening and closing apps, malfunction of the camera, out of trouble and delay an application to load the launcher and would return to around 2.1, but I also like the space for application installation and open recovery.
PS: It's easy to return to 2.1?
download on process
kinda miss the haptic feedback hahaha..
thx a lot Mioze..
I'm pretty sure you can only move apps to SD for 2.2... since I never used it (I never have so many apps installed at once that it's neccesary) I don't mind losing that functionality.
There are a few apps from 2.2 that I like, most notably the new gmail and youtube apps, but those are minor sacrifices for me really.
Open recovery is installed in both those links. I find the camera works much better on 2.1, seems much faster in taking and processing pictures.
In any case, it is indeed very easy to return to 2.1 and then return back to a 2.2 ROM if you don't like it. You take one of those links (I'm using eclair strikes back) and flash it through nandroid just as you would any other ROM that we have here. And you can flash back the same way if you don't like it.
Be advised, there are currently some issues around the android market for some reason (just see the posts above)... I'm thinking we might have to replace the market apk.
Anyways, I personally am loving it.
EDIT:
Oh, you might have to setup the APN's as well.

I intend to make an updated eclair-strikes-back to add app2ext support and additional governors but I probably won't have time until later in the week. I view link2sd as the eclair equivalent of froyo's native app2sd, though. Link2sd may already work with fat as the second partition, but I haven't tested it yet because of the market problem. The market problem is #1 on my list when I get time.
And yes, these 2.1 ROMs will keep OpenRecovery intact and you can just flash between 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs the same way you would switch between 2.2 ROMs.
Thanks for the work Mioze7Ae! Let's try it, you know, always gives a bit of fear making a mistake, but gradually removes the fear. I do not know that flashing. It's like applying an Update? I apply a copy nandroid?

I know how you feel. I always used to have fear/apprehension when flashing a ROM. I've done it enough times now that it's all gone by now though.
Anyways:
Download the ROM. Unzip it. Copy and paste the folder (should contain 4 things in it boot.img etc...) into your SD card under OpenRecovery/Nandroid/ (if you've gone to a 2.2 ROM you should see that ROM in the same place where you're putting this). Anyways, launch open recovery and do recovery boot or hold volume up while pressing power on (if your phone is off). If you get an image and nothing happens, you may have to go into open recovery and select install recovery system before doing this - if you have a bunch of weird pictures in your gallery including Darth Maul then you don't have to worry about this. Then navigate - using the volume keys to move up and down and the camera button to select - to Nandroid, select restore, select Eclair strikes back, select restore all. Once that's done, make sure to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe/clear dalvik cache and cache. Then reboot and it should work. (First reboots are long).
You may have to setup your APN's also.
Excellent. Thanks, sounds simple ... downloading ..... then tell how it worked.

They actually go in nandroid/openrecovery/, it's the updates.zip that go in OpenRecovery/updates/ so it's easy to remember that wrong. I'm always adb push'ing to them so I only noticed the mistake because I've got the muscle memory from typing them all the time. Gotta love the consistency
hey mioze7ae, using it right now btw, is it possible to change the read_ahead settings to 2048 instead of 128? i can manually replace the file but once reboot, it changes back.
thanks!
Manual market update
I replaced /system/app/Vending.apk with the 2.2.7 com.android.vending.apk found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875067
After doing this and rebuilding dalvik-cache I have the new market and I am able to install paid apps! I'll make an update for it tomorrow, I have to crash.
Two things you can get from market before you flash. APN backup/ restore and SD speed Increase. You can backup your APNs and then once you get to the eclairs, restore them. SD Speed Increase will kick up your SD cache to 2048, instead of 128. Both are free.

Yes. But if you have to use open recovery for whatever reason, you'll need them. You can either click install recovery as needed (which creates the pics) and delete them after, or the best thing to do is get an app that just hides the pics from gallery - so they are there when you need them, but don't interfere. I saw an app "Gallery Excluder" or something floating around in the XDA Android Apps section - that would work. Or a gallery like QuickPic let's you hide things as well.
EDIT:
Nevermind, Gallery Excluder hides folders only. There are other apps though, I believe.
Just an update on progress with ESB
I've done some testing and Link2SD already works with the released eclair-strikes-back but currently only when using FAT for the second partition.
To get ext support in, I'm trying to get the darktremor a2sd scripts to work. They look high quality and robust and should handle swap gracefully when booting the custom kernel as well (current status--some rare hung boots with a flaky SD card when using the latest beta scripts, will try the stable release next). There's also a GUI in the market for managing the SD card (currently only Froyo+, I'm inquiring whether the developer can add eclair support).

I am hoping that the ext will come through. If I am using the sd-ext/app folder on the Steelblue ROM, can I leave all my apps in there and flash your eclair with ext support (when ready) or will I have to use Titanium-migrate? I would think that it really wouldn't matter for most of the apps, except FroYo specific ones like Flash 10.3 but not sure.
p.s. Are you going to call your next version "Return of the Eclair"?
MD5 Check failed. Does this have something to do with the fact that I bought my phone in the middle east?

UPDATE: Latest "Market" Now 3.3.12

Update: 11/20/11 Unofficial Market update which brings it to Version 3.3.12. Better integration with the Music market. You can now download free music and purchase music as well. Sorry U.S.A. only for free music (?)
How to install: download apk and install like any other apks.
http://db.tt/0j3ii5Oq
Here is the latest (leaked?) update of the Market which brings it to version 3.3.11.
And here's how I installed it: I am currently on CM7 nightlies
Download .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk)
Open Root explorer (or any file manager w/ root access)
Move New Market .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk) to system/apps (make sure to mount R/W first)
Move (or delete, but I suggest to move .apk just in case) older market .apk (Vending.apk) to your sdcard
Rename new market as Vending.apk
Fix Permissions (rw--r--r)
Exit Root Explorer (or any file manager)
Reboot
Done! Whew...
OR...
Download .apk
Rename New Market .apk to "Vending.apk" (w/o the quotes)
Install just like any other apllication
Reboot (if necessary)
*I didn't get the chance to try the second option so it may or may not work, but it kinda made sense...
**not sure if (Vending.apk) is the same name for SENSE ROMS (I don't remember) but just make sure to rename it the same way...

Hmm this actually is worth the trouble. LOL
you could do it the lazy way and hover over the link on this website and after about 3s a qr code will show up
DL'd and installed earlier. I had been having problems with the speed of other 3.x market apps, this fixes those all, even on 3g. However, some of my installed apps aren't showing up (like Google Maps, of all things). I'm sure there's a simple solution to that, though.

Try and clear "market" data through the application settings and reopen the market. See if that worked...
from the "CRACKED" speedy EVO engine... Via Tapatalk.
It won't install for me. It keeps saying application not installed. If I use root explorer to place the .apk in the /systems/app folder I just get force closes. Clearing data doesn't help either. I have downloaded it several times thinking it was a corrupted download. I'm at wits end here. I have done everything in this post even before I read it as I have updated to all the other previous market releases without issue.
But for some reason this one just doesn't work. I thought maybe it wasn't working on cm7.1 nightli or or the evo shift but some of you have it working so that isn't it. Let me redo this and maybe format cache and dalvik see if that helps.

did you rename the .apk of the new update?
I had zero issues with the new Market. I just installed it like any other .apk. The new Market is very nice. Many small noticable differences. Like when on the My Apps page and you switch accounts it leaves you on the My Apps page instead of reloading the whole damn Market. Overall new Market is definitly an improvement and Vicodan should stop being such a hater

I did try that, but no luck. I'll probably just ignore it until the next time I flash a ROM. Then it'll fix itself, so that's fine. I imagine it's only going to be a few days until I do that anyway.

Titanium Backup can restore all your Market links. I believe there's also other apps designed just to do that too. Use TB or search for an app that restores Market links.

If your use titanium backup to restore or install your apps go into the settings and use market doctor. This will fix missing links to apps in the market that you have installed.

I used your second instructions to install it but I didn't rename it and it installed fine. I didn't need to change permissions or reboot, just touched the Market-3.3.11.apk after I downloaded it and it installed. Thanks.

I just tried this and TB linked most apps (except Amazon apps of course) to the market. Thanks for the tip sparksco...

I did this the first time i downloaded the .apk and it didn't work for me. That's why I had to do it the long way...
Are you on a Sense ROM?
Good to know that it installed fine for you.

[Guide/Mod] -Kindle Fire MAWR Market! *now with better build.prop*

Intro: This is my first guide, so be nice.. This will give you access to every app on the Android Market. I have downloaded apps that were previously “incompatible” and almost ALL of the gameloft, popcap, EA, etc.. games run without FC, validate, and download their additional data without failure for MY device thus far. It will revert after a restart, but its great to get what you want without having to do TB backup/restores over and over again for stuff you forget/buy later/etc...
If you have changes you would like to see to this guide, please comment!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Feb 5th
I have been tweaking the build.prop for the last month or so, and have found some modifications that will boost performance and increase your battery life. It isn't an ungodly amount, but it is noticeable to me.
The build.prop is attached to the post now, instead of uploaded to an external site.
The old 2.2.6 market is attached for apps that show as "incompatible for your device".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer:
I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device. Do this at your own risk.
YOU MUST BE RUNNING CM7!
YOU MUST HAVE ROOT!
I WILL NOT SUPPORT STOCK!
IF THIS WORKED, CLICK THANKS!!
Prerequisites:
CM7
Root
Root Explorer
Titanium Backup
Attached Files
Terminal Emulator
Lets do this thing:
First, the build.prop
We are going to replace the build.prop, so make a backup of the one you have.
open RE, and head over to /system/
copy that file and put it in a safe spot
Now we are going to put this modified build.prop in the location of the old one.
download this modified build.prop to your phone’s sd card:
open RE and copy the build.prop you just downloaded
navigate to /system/ again
click Mount R/W to give RE permissions to modify these files
paste the build.prop in the /system/ directory
if it asks to overwrite, go ahead and it will make a backup of the original called build.prop.bak
restart your device
Next, the Market
Now, we’re gonna get rid of, and replace some of the market data.
Open TB and delete “or freeze if you prefer” the following from the app list:
Market
This is optional! Do this if you are installing the old market and want it to not update until you restart.
Open up TE and run the following:
pm disable com.android.vending.updater
Now, we replace the Market that we had with the downloaded ones:
install and overwrite data “if it asks” for com.android.vending_2.2.6.apk
open your app drawer
open market “you should see the old version of the market”
HAVE FUN DOWNLOADING!!!
About the build.prop:
I had been screwing around with the build.prop for a while trying to find the best combination of fingerprints and such to put as to get the most out of the market. I discovered that the GT-P1000 “GTab” had the best results, so I changed the following:
Code:
ro.product.model=GT-P1000
ro.product.brand=Samsung
ro.build.description=GT-P1000-user 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD DXJPI release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-P1000/GT-P1000:2.3.3/GINGERBREAD/DXJPI:user/release-keys
I recently threw in the following performance modifications from various threads all over the interwebs. This combination works well for me. It is already in the new build.prop, so if you find a different setting to work better for you, post it and I will give it a try.
Code:
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
debug.performance.tuning=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
net.tcp.buffersize.default=4096,87380,256960,4096, 16384,256960
net.tcp.buffersize.wifi=4096,87380,256960,4096,163 84,256960
media.stagefright.enable-player=true
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true
media.stagefright.enable-scan=true
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
Thank you so much I have been looking for a successful attempt at changing the build.prop file before I attempted it. I am very glad you shared your knowledge.
Good deal! Glad it worked out for you.
Yeah it worked perfectly..I did skip wiping my system cache and everything worked perfectly still..once again thank you so much. Just in time for the end of the gameloft sale..lol. I really love it!
Dude I love you..lol not only did I gain access with the old market, after I rebooted and killed the terminal, I now how access to all of the apps with the updated market..it appears to be to the perfect fix for the market, at least for me anyway. I will keep you posted if anything changes. I know I still have access to all Gameloft and EA games. Bravo sir. The only thing I did differently from you walk through is I didn't system wipe before install the old android market.

This may work on the stock rom, but I haven't tried it. If it works out for you then I will update the OP.
Thanks a ton!
This method worked perfectly. I figured that it might have something to do with the build.prop's device fingerprints but I just never had the patience to try it.
I actually just skipped the market part and followed the replacement of the build.prop with a reboot. I still got access to apps I previously weren't able to see before while using the new market app, however Im not sure if its the entire market. I also skipped the wipe of the /system and everything is working fine.
download?
where can i download the build.prop??

it's in the .zip file in the OP
also, due to the responses of skipping clearing the cache through twrp, i have removed it from the OP. and added another little courtesy note below the "not supporting stock" note.

Spoke to soon when ever i try to download an app from the market it force closes and said The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.

Could you elaborate how you got access to the full updated market? I tried that, and I can't download anything from it.
Awesome. Gameloft's TinTin game now recognizes my Kindle as a 3D supported device.

I just tried this and the only thing that i had to do is copy the build.prop to /system, rename old one to build.prop.bak, set permissions for new one, force stop and clear market data from manage applications, then reboot. Everything shows up and downloads with the new market.

This may seem a little out there, but go to titanium backup and longpress the market app and move it to a user app. Attempt to open it up then close it, clear your data from the application details and reinstall the app from the zip on the OP. Install the marketupdater.apk as well.

Don't let the other users methods confuse you. If you did everything in the OP, you shouldn't have any problems. If you did, be more specific and I will try to help. No offense.

Don't worry, I'm pretty good with this stuff, but when he said he had full market access I wanted to know how he did it. I can confirm that it works though, I just had to replace the build.prop you provided, force stop the market, and clear the market data, then reboot, and I can see more apps in the new updated market!
