me and my co workers decided to test our phones against each other and the G2 won in every test, the phones are G2, Samsung Epic 4G, Evo 4G with Froyo. the apps we used were linpack, speed test, quadrant, maps (to see who gps locked on our location fastest) and the G2 smoked them in every test including the 4g speeds, the Evo came in second and Epic came dead last

Your right except the Epic does way better on the 3d test in Quadrant by double the fps.
Despite those good cpus scores it runs psx4droid faster without a doubt.
I also noticed galaxy s phones are able to handle webpages much more smoothly than the g2. The g2 slightly stutters on complex webpages when you are scrolling. The scrolling is not as responsive in these cases either. This is with flash disabled btw. So forget having a lot of flash stuff on the screen. Then its really slow, but lets not count that since galaxy phones dont have froyo yet.
Im almost ready to switch to the epic if only there was sprint 4g in the area I live, it wasnt so plasticy and yeah if the gps was better. Just can't have a perfect phone.
I dont know about the epic but the vibrant is getting official rollouts next week

I was going to open one that said that I once had a Motorola Razr.
BTW, I have a Vibrant and went to the G2 1 1/2 months ago. You are late to the party!

i dont think its a lost man, honestly i cant see to me the only thing that a G2 got the vibrant on it's flash...unless anyone else know some MAJOR issue or reason why the vibrant is less powerful
i might switch to verizon and get the fascinate, as i think that is the best phone right now
The "MAJOR" issue for me was that the Vibrant didn't have a keyboard. I prefer vanilla android as well.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA app
For me, it was the lag now and then, more like stalling, and the delay of 2.2 that ticked me. Sold my Vibrant, got the G2, couldn't be happier. The battery life is brilliant as well, much better than the Vibrant.
vibrant = 3g
g2= hspa
edit: forgot to mention no camera flash D:
The Facinate??? Really?
Its the exact same device as the Vibrant (which is shortcoming #1), except Verizon took a dump all over it and removed Google search...
Godspeed.
Sent from my HTC Vision
Well this is the first qwerty phone I get that's physical, the vibrant was way too light and seemed a little cheap to me as it was all plastic.the g2 will get better along the way, its just too early to tell right now.

I just got mine too. Turning it ON nowwwwwwwwwwwww
Got mine too, eating breakfast then going to do a unboxing video
Have any of you guys bought the phone on contract? Are they requiring you to change plans? I am wanting to keep my same plans for voice and data.
Ordered mine on bestbuy.com, and got the no-contract version. Can't wait to get it.
Just came back from Best Buy. They had at least 6 from what I've seen. One person got their before me.
Despite being made of plastic, this thing is solid.
I got mine and paid in full.
I don't have much time right now as I have to take final exam.
A few pics for this morning.
Got to BB at 7am.

Got mine too... local best buy had quite a few... only one other person in front of me, none behind Got it off contract as well...
I am so ticked with sprint naming a lesser device EVO aka Evo Shift that I traded my phone for an EPIC 4g.

How do you figure?
http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=215487&page=1&zoomIdx=1
The Evo has a faster processor, higher MP camera, and a front facing camera. The only advantage I see the Shift has is that is has more internal storage. As far as "power" goes, I'd give it to the Evo based on the processor seeing as RAM is the same.
I have seen alot of stupid posts on this forum but this just toped all of them.

This is what happens when comparing numbers of different types of processors. Sure, the shift might operate at a slower CPU speed, but that doesn't mean its slower. I predict you will end up hating the Epic.

Rather a better phone to a software update.
I literally cannot imagine the mind that would have this kind of resentment for one godless corporation's shiny new thing vs. other godless corporation's shiny new thing. I mean seriously.
Is this a thing now? Sports rivalries are dumb enough, but SMARTPHONE RIVALRIES?!?!?
I give up. On the world....
I'd buy a tablet before that EVO POS! Epic is a MUCH better phone. I can wait a few weeks for a software update.

Pretty pathetic, aren't you?
You're trolling/bragging about a phone. Think about that.
Yeah, come back when people here give a **** over an update, when they're only weeks apart anyway.
Enjoy your rushed, crappy update that's not even really optimized for your phone.
Quality comes with time, enjoy your rushed update!

Eh who cares anyway our phones with 2.2 are faster then there's will be with 2.3
We get GB like 2 weeks later and have a superior, nearly unbrickable phone. I think I'll survive just fine. Have fun with lag when GB doesn't love the Snapdragon.

It's probabbly been discussed here before but my girlfriend just got an epic and the gps is vastly superior. I mean, it locked in about 1 second indoors to 20 meters, then 8 meters the next second, then 2 meters a second after that!
Indoors!!!!
And navigation was lightning fast and flawless. None of that switching directions while stopped and recalculating.
We got hosed.

this helps us how?
it does no good to keep harping on how the sgs series in general has bad gps, and it does no good to keep harping on how the tmo-us vibrant has a flawed gps.
Really? Flaming? I was just saying how thoroughly impressed I was with the epic's gps.
Gingerbread for epic may be released soon.. Now they have a leak of gingerbread...
What about us?
Sgs2 may be coming soon stateside and we won't get it...
Geez what is this? Ughh kinda frustrating if you ask me.. Lol. Lol
You realize Vibrant and some Captivate users are the only Galaxy S users having GPS problems since it was released.
