When you get the JI6 ota update please just post your Location (city, state) and the time/date you got it.
This will give us a feel how the update is rolling out around the country.
Thanks

Why not follow the thread that is already made with this with 100's of replies on what time and where people got it? No need for this thread.
Because there are 100s of replies to sort thru about other things. I just want to know where and when.
I have seen one from Hawaii receiving the ota today.

I'm in Seattle and have not gotten the update yet
My brother got the update today early in the morning, but I didn't get anything yet. Everett, wa.

Not sure what good this will do. It's spread out over the rest of the month. Someone will get it in like Dallas and the guy down the block won't. All you can do is wait just like the past updates from tmo there is no rhyme nor reason to how ppl get it. Now ppl will say why did so and so get it in nyc and not me?
second that, they don't push it in an ordered sequence. it's pretty damn random, they roll it out slow so they don't overload the servers.

The "I didnt get my update on 9/30 because google forgot the admin password" thread.
SO when you get your update, please post here and let us know if it fixed anything..........
Or if it broke more things and now your battery only lasts 5 hours.....like the last update did to me.
Edit: as of 8:40 pm on 9/30/2010
We learned this evening that there were administrative issues getting this software loaded to Google's servers. We don't yet have an expected time when this will be available but will update you as soon as possible. Please see the statement below that was sent by the Sprint Product Management team:
We were planning to release an update for your Samsung Epic 4G on 9/30. The file was delivered and on track for distribution but late this afternoon, we learned that an administrative issue prevented Google from releasing the update as we had planned. We are working to resolve the issue and will provide an update as soon as we understand the new delivery schedule.
We would like to clarify that the timing of this update has nothing to do with the 30 day return window that many of you on these blogs have been discussing and that this delay has nothing to do with any last minute changes within the release package itself. The delay is simply due to an administrative issue that we are working to resolve.

IMHO, google and sprint and samsung have failed us one time too many.
My dad is ready to upgrade his phone tomorrow and he will be getting an evo at all costs. There is NO WAY I'm letting him get an epic after this clusterF**K.
I have 7 days till I'm 30 days out. Right now it's not looking good for the epic.
I checked this morning, no update available for me, and of course they didn't post it on Sprint's support page for the Epic. Fail Sprint, Fail. Guess i'll have to wait

Major update rolling out today that "fixes" the 3g upload..
Today begins the roll out of the maintenance release. It will be slowly released to all clients over the period of four to five days. Not everyone will get it on the first day.
^ Just to stop the "I didn't get it today and Sprint sucks and I'm canceling" gripes that always pop up.

Those will be posted regardless of you posting this or not. People will see the "I got the update on ...." thread, skip to the last page and type garbage and smash their keyboard every way possible because their phonez interwebz upl0d3 is c4pp3d.
I'm hoping a few people on XDA are in the first batch of releases, that way the update can be spread out to everyone else on XDA.
This upload cap is not even a big concern for me although i do like my phone to be perfect. GET WIFI
I agree there. I'm hoping someone will package it all up nice and fancy like the last update and I can update sometime today. would be nice
FYI: I think some of us heard about this update from a moderator on the Sprint forum regarding 3g upload cap. That's at least where I verified this update was on the way over today and the next 3 days.

Ahh, begins at Noon EST.
Hope I get the push, I have DI07 but have root/cwm recovery and most of the sprint garbage-ware removed. I'll probably just get it in update.zip form from whoever gets it first on XDA
Wish they'd just make it a downloadable update...
12am
I think that's midnight the morning of, isn't it? I think one of us needs more coffee and I'm not sure who it is.
It would be much nicer if it was a download... I'm sure someone here will post it as soon as they get it!

It'll probably be posted in zip format here on the forum before 95% of us get it OTA.
Hi everyone, first time posting!
I just received a notification that T-Mobile has an update for my Vibrant. Did anyone else get this? Could this be the GPS fix everyone's been talking about? I'm installing it right now!
I tried to manually update it but I got the same old message "no firmware! "
It didn't end up going so great... It hanged on the Vibrant screen after the update. Doing a nandroid restore right now.
Lol. Really?
My first post so here it goes.
I just finished downloading the update and its not 2.2. I have noticed a few slight changes though. First being that websites seem to open faster and scroll smoother, it could just be me though. The menu that is brought up when you are using the browser is different and has a brightness control on it.
There is a new HD camcorder application and a task manager application. I have only had it running for a couple minutes. In not sure if there is a gps fix cause I'm in my basement so it its rare for me to get any signal down here.
I also just found out youtube videos have a HQ button on them now.
Just checked with mine and I get the "no firmware" as well.
looks like JI6 then?
So how do theses OTA updates work? Does everyone get it at the same time or does it update few people at a time? Anyone know?
Will I get any update if my phone is rooted and has lag fix installed?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Usually a message pops up at the top in your notification bar that an update is available

Yes the build number says ECLAIR.UVJI6

it kinda makes sense that t mobile would begin pushing updates today. They were supposed to announce this week (which would mean today or tomorrow) when they were gonna be releasing updates.

This seems legit. People on both Android Forums and T-Mobile Forums are reporting the update. Can't be a troll
I'm already on JI6 so it's all good!
GPS has been OK with this version, over WiFi it's really not going to work well for some reason. Jumps around all over the place.
Tracking has been reliable overall. Using it with the Root Wireless app to track my network coverage it was very quick to lock in.
Samsung posted this on Facebook as well.
The Gallery is still problematic.
Reception has been EXCELLENT, overall if this is what we would have gotten back in July people would have been much happier.

I call bluff. Why is it always a new user first post that happens to get it. No one else either but you when the forum is waiting eagerly. Could be possible, but for now I call shananigins..

I am not seeing any real info on the OTA update. I got it this afternoon. I have noticed so far
- Wifi calling
- Hotspot capability
- Can now update Goggles
Really? I haven't heard anything!!!

I'm calling bull. If people started getting them earlier this afternoon we'd see news stories and many more threads on it.
EDIT: maybe not bull... http://theandroidsite.com/2010/10/11/t-mobile-adding-wifi-calling-to-the-g2-via-ota-update/
Really ? Can someone provide instructions on how to upload it. This could be very useful for the root cause. We all called the other guy for trolling. Did a mod delete that thread?

I have anecdotal evidence from other websites claiming to be receiving an OTA update.
Prove it, OP.

How much memory are you showing?
The same. App Monster Pro shows 1.29 GB
Isn't there usually a code to force updates or am I mistaken on this?
You're kidding me... I returned my G2 because I get terrible signal indoors on campus, and I couldn't live without my BB's UMA so I figured I'd wait until it was enabled. The tards on the phone and in the store said it's looking closer to December for the release...
EDIT: Err... that was a useless post. I hope the updates become widespread; I'll definitely rush back to get the phone.
If this is real.... this could be big for getting perm. root available. Either way the tether option is sweet! Did the radio version change anyone? My G2 is off and charging right now... My signal is crap compared with my MTS. Really need a newer radio version.

Thanks!
like julia child said..... good food takes time. just wait. wait wait.
theyve got a week to roll it out.
doesnt matter where you are, this day and age -- stay off wifi stay on the tmo network and you will get it.
Why is this in the dev section.
Why would anyone care that you don't have the update.

Yes, US has been the very last region to update both times, so far, and I expect it will be again this time, too. The second update didn't take long at all to get to every US user, though, once the US update pushed. By the time I got my notification everyone else already had it and the update URL was all but pointless. I'm not really all that concerned with getting this one, but man I hope that 6.0 update hits every region fast. We're building a larger user base now, though, so maybe we'll get lucky and XDA members from each region will be among the early people to get the push notification.
