Captivate Froyo Root Preparation - Captivate Android Development

Not sure if this is the best place to put it so here it goes:
I made a video for those of you who are having trouble with figuring out what to do with the files downloaded from the root pack for v2.2 (Froyo). Hope this helps out!

This is absolutely a great idea! Props to you!!

I just watched on my cappy. The audio is too low so it didn't do me any good but it's a fantastic idea. I'm not sure why there aren't more video tutorials on xda. It would be easier than answering all the questions that usually come up

Thanks for letting me know...I'll make sure the next video I make I'll boost the audio a bit.

Seeing that people are still having trouble I'm going to try to make a full how to (for everything). I hope to have the videos online by saturday, latest sunday.

I'll be subscribing to your channel

Any word on the release date on the next version?

Until then you can always use a program called "Smart Bar" that can be downloaded from the market

I used to have an Incredible, which was nice. However, I am way happier with the X even though Motorola didn't make it hacker-friendly. It's amazing what the dev's have been able to do with the device despite the naysayers

It's tough, guys. I'm pretty new at this level of coding, especially the smali coding needed for this, and the overall porting to this screwy framework. I've been reading and researching, and am gunna take my first few cracks at it tonight.

Hey drod,
First of all, good luck on your finals. As eager as I am to see another release of rubiX from you, your coursework must come first.
Second, this sounds fantastic!

This is a brilliant idea if you can figure out the framework. Had it on my Incredible and it's just such a great place for the toggles.
Best of luck getting it into Fission -- great ROM regardless.

Woah, now that's a weird one. What EH17 did you have? Samfirmware's Odexed version? Crawjr's Deodexed Version? Or Deca's Deodexed version? They seem to be reacting differently to certain things. I'm on Deca's Deodexed EH17. Still rooted here.
Ok I'm rooted on EG22 and I see the video icon on gtalk but when I click on video chat, it just vibrates and closes out on me. I'm on CWM 3.1.01. So I tried installing it from the zip again and it gave me some error info.

That's very interesting... I'll be sure to let crawjr know, this, and other modifications have been giving minor issues for those on his version of EH17. I am personally using Deca's EH17 Deodexed. And as for the person having issues on EG22, gtuansdiamm said it worked, are you deodexed/have any themes installed? If so, check to make sure you don't have two copies of Talk in system/app
So I finally got the new Talk to work. I can see the incoming video on my phone, but the person on the other end can't see me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try a different friend. Lol. Jk, there's a few factors..can't pinpoint it, could be the os/browser/internet...
I have video chatted with my lil bro, xp sp2, I believe on firefox 5.2.. and we have excellent bandwidth. Plenty for 2 ps3s to game on while youtube streams in the background..
Thanks for linking me to this thread on the APP 4 Video Calls on EPIC ? thread. Exactly what I was looking for, didn't want to have to convince my girlfriend to try Tango or Skype, since she's always on GTalk anyhow.
Now when I'm at the store with some vague crap on the shopping list she handed me, I can point the phone at the shelf and tell her to pick whatever I need to throw in the cart. This'll save me some B&M from her after I get home from the grocery store!
So... sending this thread back to Page 1, where it belongs.
(Note: Maybe this should be in the Epic 4G Apps forum; I'd missed the thread because I'd only searched the Apps subforum.)

Doug Piston retires support for INC. Welcome our new support channel: pvillecomp

Well, if you've spent anytime on the Incredible I'm pretty sure you know who Doug Piston is. If not then basically Doug was the go to guy for all HBOOTs, Radios, Recoveries and Stock Images for our HTC Droid Incredible. In fact Doug had a website: http://dougpiston.com/ dedicated just to support our stock file needs.
Unfortunately here recently Doug has retired his support for our phone. The course of life moves on and do to a full time job and going to school amongst other things I'm sure, he decided to move on with his life.
He will be greatly missed I'm sure. I know I will miss his support.
Onward with the good news! Before Doug left his last final act of support for as was to hand over the reigns to pvillecomp so that we continue to get the files that we need.
From now on we can go to http://pvillecomp.com/ for those files that we need.
Huge thanks to pvillecomp for stepping up and pulling this together for us!
Yes! We'll miss Doug Piston, but I know he's still around here. Glad that the torch was passed so to speak. The resources for this is invaluable!

Most of the time this mod bombs so be careful.

I tried, but liked vodoo better, as this mod permanently increased some bass effect, with vodoo you can control it. But to most people it won't matter, as it works good enough without tinkering anything.
I use them together and I can notice a more clarity and bass. Of course I have a pair of $200 DJ headphones so maybe that helps
Also this isn't a port and doesn't belong in development. Thanks for posting it though, we follow the rules strictly over in the Captivate forums too.

It seems that the original link is gone, but I found this in the Epic 4G threads and wanted to give it a try. It's suppose to work for any Gingerbread rom, but I'm running ICS. I listened to a music track before flashing and then flashed the zip and it seems to sound clearer. It might be just a placebo.
If anyone wants to try this and see if it works, please see the attached flashable zip.
I don't take credit for this; but feel free to thank me if you like this.
Oh ya, make a nandroid before you flash this - just in case it messes something up.
