what about just sending MMS? My friend couldn't see it cause it said it was too large... is it not auto resizing the pictures?
When I receive or send MMS they show up as slideshows. Not a straight up image anymore, which makes it smaller. Anyone know how to fix this?
Also how do yo save the pictures that are recieved.

I have the same issue with a single picture being sent to me and the phones displays it as a slide show and there is now way that I see how to save that picture to my gallery. Is there a way to do this?

I'm using handcent sms and it handles mms fairly easy.

Just flashed the cm 7 rom on my aria. works great. One problem: when i text someone i cant seem to have a picture for MY texts. For example, all my contacts are synced with facebook, therefore if i text someone, next to their message is a picture of them from facebook. But next to mine, there is nothing. Anyone know how to fix this?
Did you add your number to the phone? Did you create a contact for yourself with a picture? If not then that's what you must do.

I noticed that I couldnt set a picture for myself like op was stating and i did what you did and now there is a picture! Thanks. Im cm7 too
Try another SMS client such as handcent. I know for a fact that you can put picture for yourself in the settings in the app

Have you tried sending yourself a pic? I've had to do that before...you could also add yourself aa a contact at that point..

Just like any other contact name, number, picture, etc. I think as long as your contact number is the same as in the phones settings you should have a problem.

I know I've seen this discussed before but I can't find it. Pictures always come as a slideshow instead of just a picture. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to change that, or if I can. Anyone have any input? Thanks

Heh. Seems random on mine. Sometimes they come as a slideshow and sometimes as just a picture. Maybe it has to do with the phone or carrier it comes from? No idea.

not really sure if the carrier, or the phone.
i've got a friend that sends me pics from her iPhone, and from her specifically, they sometimes come as one, sometimes the other.
might have to do with filesize?

CDMA (Sprint and Verizon) has a 160-character limit. T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM.
Well, from reading, everyone has a 160-character limit, but many GSM phones just allow you keep writing and it'll split them into separate 160-character messages on the receiving handset. Many phones now just split it automatically, regardless of network, such as our EVOs.
I'm not really all that well-versed on these technologies. Just a stab in the dark here!

Actually my experience has been that it ONLY happens on Sense.
Interesting, I wonder if it is just a sense ui 'flaw'. Have you used an aosp rom and not had it happen?

On CyanogenMod, if someone sends me a single image, it just comes as a picture. I click it, it opens, and I can look at it until I'm done. Which is nice, because I don't have to try to soak it all in in 5 seconds before the one-slide slide show ends! But if someone sends me multiple images at once it is still a slideshow.
That makes sense, maybe ill try a different ron, I've been lookin at vaelpak's latest.

Well the thing is the for some reason HTC did that as feature.like people say but if you tap on the image then look down there is a pause button to see the pic for longer l

Yea I knew that, and there is a save button too. Just curious if there was an option to change it, same with split long messages, that annoys me more than the mms slideshow

Split you wont be able to changed cause of sprint and try go SMS or handcent in the market really good SMS apps for.android

I have had this happen as well. I don't know why it does it. It appears to happen randomly. I have been able to make it go away and show the whole word if you pinch zoom in and out until you find a zoom level that contains all the words. That is the only workaround I've found. If anyone has any better ways to make it stop, please say so.

maybe changing the phones font size or the font off the sms app you are using assuming its not the stock one.

I meant that I can't input the ones from the second picture using the stock keyboard :silly:
Okay, Hangouts was updated with the SMS feature. We can sent emoji using SMS through it and it won't convert it to MMS.
While the Stock samsung's messaging app converts it to MMS as soon as emoji is input.

It's becasue AT&T compresses teh crap out of MMS - try using a different app that will let you ovveride the standard mms size - I know Textra lets you go upto 1mb pics

I noticed the same thing. But the videos looked a lot worst when send as MMS.
Yeah it's really aggravating. I really don't like the camera already so this actually makes it worse. I have till tomorrow to return it. Have to decide quick lol
