[Q] 90megs of ram lost 0_0 - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey guys, quick run through of what I have, how it happened and what not.
I have a MyTouch 3G 1.2 (3.5mm jack), I had CyanogenMod 6.0.0-DS running just fine, usually having ~90-100megs of ram free. I decided the other day I would performance test it against CyanogenMod 4.2.15.1. I couldn't find any documentation of how to do so on my Magic (or I just couldn't think of a search query that brought me to any documentation o_0), so I tried a method myself.
I first installed the base Google Ion image, signed-google_ion-ota-14721.zip, then installed update-cm-4.2.15.1-signed.zip. Everything installed properly and booted up, but the touchscreen wouldn't work, just the trackball. I fully wiped and reinstalled 6.0.0-DS and the google apps, and it booted up fine... but now I'm lucky to have 14 megs of RAM free... WTF HAPPENED?!?
TL;DR I tried my own method of installing CM4.2.15.1 from 6.0.0-DS, and when I went back to 6.0.0-DS, I seem to have lost ~90megs of RAM! Anyone know what I did to mess my phone up?
Any help would be very appreciated! :O
Edit: Also, everything works as it should, it's just I have no RAM. It struggles to do anything so I don't even leave the message screen at this point xD

Post ALL your fastboot info here...
I think that you have the wronge spl and that's why you only have access to limited ram!!!
Does your 3.5 mm jack work? It could be related...

Yes my jack does work, but here's my fastboot info:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.19.26I

well you are running the 32B radio...
You should have this combo: spl 1.33.0013/ radio 2.22.23.02
The 32B version have around 90 mb ram less than 32A versions...
Flash the right radio and you should get your ram back.

Are you positive? I don't wanna brick D:

from this source:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403
You should have this combo:
[MT3G 1.2]
38) 2.10.531.3 1.33.0013G 2.22.23.02 N T-MOB010
39) 2.10.531.4 1.33.0013G 2.22.23.02 N T-MOB010
AND NOT THIS COMBO/RADIO:
[32B]
31) 1.89.162.1 1.33.0007G 2.22.19.26I N VODAP102
32) 1.91.162.1 1.33.0007G 2.22.19.26I N VODAP102
33) 1.91.177.1 1.33.0007G 2.22.19.26I N VODAP120
It is my best guess :0)
If the CyanogenMod 6.0.0-DS was running before it should run fine again even if you change the radio.

Thankyou sir One last annoyance for you? Could you lead me in a direction of where to find just the radio update to flash? Or fastboot? or o_0

You cannot flash trough fastboot since you have perfected spl...
So you have to flash trough custom recovery...
Try to search for the radio in the form of a recovery update file.
I don't have one at hand... but i know there is more then one source on this forum :0)

Thanks for the help

Try this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5451898&posted=1#post5451898

That method doesn't seem to be working D: I'm going to try Terminal Emulator.
Edit: "can't find radio partition" goddamit haha

So I can't fastboot or terminal emulator, so I definitely need to find a signed radio.zip or something -_-
Edit: FIXED! THANKS!

[Q] Ginger Yoshi 1.0 RC7 & Rom Manager v4.0.0.2

I paid a guy on Craigslist to root my phone (to Android 2.2.1) for me and put a new mod on it like 2 months ago.
I don't like CyanogenMod's 6.1.0 lack of stability (most of the time it doesn't recognize external apps stored on the memory card (using Apps 2 SD) and most of the time apps don't get installed using Marketplace. I also hate the green tint.
I'd like to switch to Ginger Yoshi 1.0 RC7. I noticed I have this app on my phone called Rom Manager. Can I use it to install Ginger Yoshi ROM? If so how do I do it?
I have the HTC Magic 32A phone.
Sometimes Marketplace is able to update apps, sometimes not. Today I was able to update ROM Manager to 4.2.0.2.
Hello ablang. To install the Yoshi thingie ROM you must change the radio. Can you please boot into fastboot and type whatever information you see there? In order to boot to fastboot, power off your phone, hold the volume down button + power on.
Edit: I'd recommend you to install diet gingerbread. It's the pure Android system found on the new phones. Very stable, fast etc. But anyway, do tell us the info you see on fastboot loader.

Aha. You must change the hboot and the radio versions. First of all, I was in your position some days. I wanted to change the radio, things etc. You can do it, by using this program: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794450
Your hboot must be: 1.33.2010 or 1.33.2010
and your radio must be: 3.22(the old one)
Don't worry where to find those files though. The link I gave you, on which you will find the appropriate program to change those things, has the files you need.
Download it, and if you have a question, post here.

NO!! don't flash any radio or spl! give us ALL the fastboot info. and do you have a headphone jack(tmobile mytouch 3g 1.2)? if you do then flashing the 3.22 radio will likely cause a brick. i would suggest staying with the radio and spl that you have or if you want to, upgrade the radio to 2.22.28.25. anything else will have problems.
if you dont have a 1.2 and have a true 32a then idk what you need to do. wait for someone with a 32a to help. (but from the little info i saw you seem to have a 1.2)
Yeah guys I forgot to tell you that I do probably have the 1.2 version since it is white and has the 3.5mm headphone jack on top.
I tried to get as much of the fastboot info as possible but it moves so fast.

ok. so if you want a different rom (i would suggest ezgingerbread or cos-ds) just download it to your sdcard and boot into recovery (home + power) then install from there

You have a 3.5mm headphone jack, right?
If yes you have a 1.2 device
get 2.22.28.25 radio and spl is fine, dont change it. Goto the developer sub-forum on this forum and click for gingeryoshi 0.7 and get the kernel there or look for the MT3G Fender 1.2 2.6.35-12-test4-10M kernel. Get your rom and flash the radio first. Then flash the rom. then flash the kernel. Then reboot. Wait 15-20 min for first boot.
Hello ablang.
I got the same phone as you, same mod and same hboot info, except mine is black. Im going to try and throw yoshi on mine later tonight. If you still need help Ill try and help you out after I finish mine.
Little late to the party (sorry)
Hey all,
Just got a Fender Mytouch 3G 1.2, that has the OTA Froyo (superslow) Tmo update. Been Googling and searching. Just trying to find a) the best froyo or gingerbread rom and b) the easiest way to do it. Can I boot into recovery without clockworkmod and flash a zip? Any help or link greatly appreciated.

Problem with myTouch 3G

So I was "flashing" a new ROM via ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.07 earlier on my phone, and the battery was near dead, so I decide to plug it in. I didn't bother to think/realize it was plugged into the USB port on my computer, and as I did so, the installation stopped and the phone turned off. I turned it back on, to find the "MyTouch 3G" green splash screen either stuck and the phone eventually turns off, or it loops, and the phone keeps rebooting. I've tried flashing flashing the ROM again and some different ROMS I believe, with no luck. Yes I can get to the recovery screen and I can get to hboot/fastboot. Any direct troubleshooting would be very much appreciated. I don't really care what ROM I have on my phone at the moment, I just need something that works. My old blackberry is missing several keys and the rest barely work, so it would be nice having this one back up and running I've searched other threads and other forums with no luck so far. PS I don't have a Nandroid backup...thought I did, guess not though.

Flash recovery AmonRa 1.7.0G first
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then search 1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d and flash it via
Code:
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
You will have

and able to install new 32B roms (for radio 2.22.28.25) via recovery...
p.s. Don't flash anything when battery at 30% or less
Most roms require the new radio and spl that came with the froyo update. You have the radio, but you need the 1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d spl.

Do you have ability to load recovery?
p.s. fastboot commands are locked in hboot 1.33.0013 (1.33.0013d)
yeah I know they were blocked, but I figured out how to access via adb
so I got the proper recovery image on...and flashed CM6, however it's still looping on the MT3G splash screen
Edit: Weird - I tried the 5.0.8-DS and it worked. I appreciate your help..any clue why 6 don't work?

Not sure, but it says I'm running 6.1 now. And I downgraded my radio to 2.22.23.02.

[32b] 6.35 radio?

I have phone like this:

RADIO-3.22.20.17
Could someone explain me if there is possible to
flash 6.35 radio and 1.76.2010 spl from 32a?
I want have 2.3.7 on my sapphire but found that it is need 6.35 radio ;/
Best regards
Bart.
Put the 1.33.0013 spl and 2.22.28.25 radio on and install some 32b roms? They are better suited for your device
Additionally, combo 1.76.xxxx / 6.35.xx.xx will be deadly for your mt3g or 32b device
Because 32b devices has 192 MB RAM, so it is not recommended to install custom roms for 32a (especially with sense ui) - they require more ram. But your current combo is not common (stock) and force you to use 32a customs cause you have radio 3.22.20.17 (it links to hboot 1.33.2010).
Follow tvall's advice.

Android n00b here, with a (quite possibly) bricked myTouch 3G (3.5-jack), seeking advice from those who truly know...
Initial bootloader info:
+-----------------------------------------+
Sapphire PVT 32A Ship S-Off G

CPLD-13
Radio-2.22.23.02

+-----------------------------------------+
Wanted to root/mod the phone, so after a little research decided to go w/ CM6.1 (w/ boot-cm_2635.9_ds_32b-oc-uv-xtra-ram-fp-120810.zip to fix "green tint" problem [read somewhere that this particular fone is 32B, even though the bootloader screen sez 32A])
No problems w/ all that, clipping along w/ clockworkmod recovery, custom splash screen, loaded w/ apps (& app2sd to offload most of that to SD). But somewhere along the way I thought, "Can I pimp this little old thing out any more?"
So, I did as Sandeep attempted ( http://sandeep.wordpress.com/2010/1...iospl-for-htc-magic-mytouch-3g-from-scratch/ )...flashed the spl to Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2010 (via recovery) so I could flash SPL 1.33.0013d & radio 2.22.28.25 (via fastboot) & loaded update-cm-6.1.0-DS-2708port_S. Things went well enough, except for some minor issues w/ CM6.1+2708, so I dropped back to SPL 1.33.0013 & radio 2.22.23.02, restored back to CM6.1.0-DS & was sitting happy again.
Then I started to suffer a case of the stoopids, and had a look at this: (ROM)CM7.1(2.3.7)Sapphire32a(NR-6.35.16.19)Sept 30(Unofficial) [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011384 ], forgetting that my fone's not really a 32A.
Now's when I went sub-moronic and tried to flash spl 1.76.2007 & radio 6.35.16.19 via recovery's install update.zip. I've since read that it's preferable to attempt such actions via "fastboot flash". And I now find myself w/ a fone that shows the initial splash screen, and goes no farther. No combination of key caresses take it to the bootloader or recovery routines. And, of course, it's not accessible via fastboot/adb.
Fully prepared to suffer the derisive laughter & denigrating putdowns (up to a point), I'd like to know if there's anything short of jtag'ing that can get me at least to the bootloader screen so I can restore/rebuild.
If I have to jtag to resurrect this particular phone, is there someone in my area (look at my profile) that can help w/ this?
Thanx in advance, and let the *flaming* begin....

You need a few things.
1. goldcard
2. A sappimg.zip with a higher version than what you have with an Eng spl. (Preferably for 32b)
3. Time, patience
4. Luck
All of these are easy to find or get besides time, patience, and luck
Im currently looking for sappimg.zip that contains the required criteria. I will post after flash attempt...
thank you

I forgot to mention a common occurance since I lost custom recovery and custom rooted rom, ect.

As you have MT3G v1.2 / Fender - it is too hard to restore your phone after your faulty actions. You bricked your phone, when flashed inappropriate hboot and radio

That post seems to be talking about mismatched radio and spl. His match, but are the wrong ones. He should be able to flash a sappimg.zip to get an Eng spl and fix from there
Ironically, the thread you have suggested is the first thread I followed to configure my device for the "carz" latest custom rom.
Is there a way around the "unzipping hang" that happens during system partition portion of RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_3.05.631.7_R_release_signed_NoDriver flash? I have also tried the goldcard method with extracted rom.zip of the mentioned RUU rom with same result.

Yeah, but solution is same. Sure, he can start from step 2, cause he has combo without mismatch between hboot and radio already.
And yes, should flash 2.53.707.2 to get special combo with eng spl and then return to stock.

I was having problems rooting my Rogers HTC Magic+. I used this method and it worked like a charm to get root, Eng SPL. After that I was able to flash custom recovery and ROMS.
The ROM in my Signature works really well.
Flash the original "RRU", then root with androot.apk from market, install rommanager from market and flash recovery, reboot recovery and flash the ENG spl

My last mission of the day is to turn s-off.
Can anyone help me with this on
I want to flash SFM 1.2 rom and I don't have the right radio for that.
??? Any ideas will s-on effect me if I flash a new radio using adb fastboot? Or can I use recovery to flash the new radio.
Plz I need help.
Go into fastboot-mode and run
Code:
fastboot oem eraseconfig
It will reset config and restore S-OFF

That's my specs now ... Thanks to everyone that helped me out
New I'm going to flash a new radio using fastboot commander V.1.0 magic version... Must I use the magic tab and erase system +userdata+cache and hit flash new or flash the radio with hboot, radio, recovery tab?
The radio I'm going to flash is radio HTC pvt 32a 6.35.16.19...
Ok I used the magic tab and erase system ect and it was successful flashing SFM 1.2 rom now.....and the flash was successful awesomeness
No need to erase system, data, cache while flashing radio only. But if you will decide to change ROM - yes, do full wipe...
Thanks bud
