Browser Color Invert - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello
Sorry my bad english
Is is possible of my galaxy the browser color invert backround dark and make the font white " INvert" color ?
Thanks and best regards from Austria

I would also like this. Reading on something like Tweetdeck with the dark greys and blues for background and white text is *much*easier on the eye (and better for the battery!)

+1 wanted to query this myself =)

I think this is a great idea... is there anyone able to do this?

Problem is with browser, the app is just generating the pages, its not the app that creates em (hence no xml change will get you this required result).
Only option, wait for aosp to come to our phone and then using aosp browser source code modify it somehow, or HEAVILY "smalify" the stock browser code

Ah right, well tbh I don't know that much about programming at all so I guess this is WAYY out of my league haha

CyanogenMod 6 has this feature. I'm not a dev, but it seems like if they could get it working on CM6, there's not reason a Galaxy S couldn't get this too. I don't think I can post links yet, but if you google cyanogen "browser color invert" you'll see what I'm talking about. But from looking on github it says "Common: Browser color invert (save battery on AMOLED screens) - Qualcomm" so maybe it's only for phones with Qualcomm processors?

[Q] Would you be interested in this theme?

Just trying to see if anyone would be interested in this mockup so I know if I should bother making it.
Edited together quickly for mockup purposes.
"Gloss" type effect colors seem off, but shall be perfected and the icons have lost there gradient effect currently
I think it would be interesting to see a white glossy theme.
Would look good on OpenDesire!
Very interested. Please make it
Looks fantastic.
+1.
In my opinion, I'd like to see it strictly black/white with minimal colour.

With a black circle battery and numbers changing colors, instead of the circle changing colors the same way Fightspit super circle type D does, it would be a killing theme.

Never been interested in circle mods tbh but yours sounds interesting, personally I like smooth sense and plan to incorporate it atleast for now

Please release that default white already
Then you can focus on that circle battery.

[Q] Is there a way to fix up the gradient banding?

Has anyone noticed is pretty much all the Froyo builds (I haven't tried Gingerbread yet) that most apps that have some form of gradient, it is represented by very ugly banding.
The Froyo Call Screen
Xiia Live
These are a few of the programs. I've checked my brothers phone (Galaxy S) and his one doesn't have these issues.
Is there any way to fix these or is this just a limitation?

No, it's not display. when you move widget, this bandig disappear. this issiue affact Gingerbread build to... any idea, how to fix that?
Try Launcher Pro. That got rid of banding issues for me. You don't have to get rid of your current launcher to try it, so there's nothing to lose, and I'd highly recommend it anyway. It's by far my favourite launcher available.
Yeah, about this subject.
I have a desire hd rom, and in sense ui gradients show banding, for the ui and everything. It's most visible on the power control widget.
However, when I move to launcher pro, the same widget shows no banding.
Any way to incorporate that "fix" to simulate less color information and get rid of the banding?

I don't use live wallpapers. And how could that relate? Does a live-wallpaper eat from the number of colors the display can show, or what?

Launcher Pro is a paid software and will not be cooked into and publicly released here on XDA.

Sorry this will never happen.. Microsoft said the 65k colors was a software limitations in winmo 6.5, however the hardware is capable of 262k colors.. currently we are under a software (read: drivers/libs) limitation. Maybe in time one of the wonderful dev's here will find the solution and rewrite the libs to unlock the full screen capabilities.. time will tell... hope this explains things little bit better as its been discussed numerous time that I know of...

Does anyone have some proof on this? With a lot of users, there are a lot myths regarding our lovely HD2.
Until I see two hd2 phones, with the same graphics displayed, one with and one without banding, I will have a hard time believing this.
I don't know what you want for proof here's mircrosofts site on the hd2 specs http://www.microsoft.com/windowspho...oft.com/windowsphone/en-us/buy/6/default.aspx you will see what I said in the post before yours. As far as android goes you will have to search for it. It was discussed a long time ago with a couple of devs here..

What does everyone think of the 2013 beta xda theme?

Just switched to it myself and I rather like it,will take some getting used to but it seems alot more feature packed.
So what are your views on the new theme?
(if you don't know how to switch to it scroll to the bottom of a page and in the left corner you will see theme changer switch to 2013 beta)
I'm not fan of the 2010 or 2013 Beta - the XDA Classic suits me and I've been using it since the beginning. The new themes have a too "White" effect for my taste - while the Classic theme is plain and simple for browsing. Just my opinion...
I wonder how many people are using the new themes vs the classic one.
XDA 2013 Beta
I like the 2013 beta. Thanks for pointing it out. The Portal Posts on the right hand side is cool. They should scroll with the page though.
Also, browser resizing is causes some issues. There is a lot of left to right scrolling going on if I don't have my browser in full screen. All in all, a worthy upgrade to the visual styling of XDA.
I had to hit XDA Classic for a moment and whoa... I think I was just transported to 2006!
I didn't know this. Just switched the theme (on the bottom of each page). I like it because the FB, G+, YT-Icons are not wasting space.
And it looks great. Thanks for this hint.
Feels nice .. noticed it only after your post ..
Thanks for letting us know mate...
It is very nice and clean
I don't like the font it's too narrow and difficult to read
After using it for a while I am not to sure I like the grey on white... something is missing, but after all it is only a beta so we shall have to see how the theme develops!
I like it but feel that its somehow to cluttered. Maybe some work on the colour scheme would help correct this. Still really like it though
Thanks for pointing it out, havenĀ“t seen it yet.
What I like:
- Specs in the device "root" directory - just a nice addon!
- Portal posts on the right side - nice!
What I dislike:
- yellow buttons (e.g. "quote")...much too distracting color!
- my eyes are getting tired by the font
All in all: The "old" style is very effectice and clean...the beta seems to be too colorful & distracting for me

Yeah, the flat grey reminds me of something from the 90s, which is no bueno. I also think it's way to cluttered at the moment, and they should concentrate on making it easy to use and more streamlined.
But it's still beta, and clearly unfinished, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't like it so I switched back to XDA 2010. The 2013 theme seems like it was made in the early 2000s, with its cluttered UI and white/grey tone.
I like the idea, it's very modern, but it's too white. It kind of hurts my eyes after all the years looking at the other design haha.
didn't know it was out.
Will try and let you know
I like it, except for the device picture and specs in the root directory.
It looks nice, but every time I go to the root directory to switch between subforums, I have to scroll down to go to the sub forum I want to read.
I would guess 99% of the people that frequent these forums know the specs of the device they are reading about.
Hell I use the original one...the newer ones are too bright for my eyes.
Sent from my GT-N7000
Not too bad but needs more definition
In general the theme is pretty good but as others have mentioned it is very white.
In my opinion the pale nature makes it more difficult to seperate between the various elements of the page. This in turn makes it more difficult for the eye to quickly find the information that it is looking for ie the contents of each post.
I also agree that the page becomes difficult to read after a while due to the combination of the colours and the font/fontsize.
Cheers Roy
Not really a fan of the sidebar. Apart from that, looks clean. 7/10, would use.

There are many replacement dialers on the PlayStore. There's even one called KitKat dialer that gives you the KitKat basics. However, the best AOSP mimic I have found (I really don't like the KitKat dialer changes much) is ExDialer. There's a theme for it that matches the AOSP dialer very well, and it has quite a lot of customization options.
You'll not be able to entirely replace the Touchwiz Dialer without borking the system, so it's best not to try.

For me, I find that the dark blue is difficult to read, given that it has a much lower contrast ratio to black, and when I consider the fact that blue pixels in the matrix burn out literally 10x faster than any the others and use more power while they are doing it, the desire for a blue accented theme vanishes entirely.

Unless themed, isn't the standard AOSP dialer blue and black? See if this post helps:

It is, unless themed, and I was just saying that I think it's a stupid choice from a design perspective, for all the reasons I mentioned above. I was actually encouraged by the move away from the blue highlighting in KitKat, but it seems that it's beginning to trickle back in.

Definitely agree, KitKat and White is much better. One of the first things I do is change the status bar to white. Jellybeans, has a KitKat UI, but, it doesn't change the dialer.
