Is there a way to make the lights for the home/menu/back/search buttons stay on longer?

* I guess i should be more specific. I know that the keyboard lights according to the display brightness. But even if i turn it all the way up, it doesnt light. I need it to...
Sometimes if your keyboard/soft keys don't light up if you shut the screen of with the power button and then unlock it the lights will come back on. I've had this happen before it's just a little glitch

What he said. Mine does this most after reboots. Just turn screen off and on and it should start working again.
Sometimes I want to turn the screen off temporarily to save power while using navigation. Now when I use the power button to turn the screen off, it only turns off for a second, then pops back on. This only is happening in navigation mode - screen will stay off otherwise. Any ideas?
I'm on Orange Glacier with the latest faux123 kernel...tried fixing permissions.
Same thing happens to me. I haven't bothered to check though. Maybe it is made to stay on in Navigation mode.
Check settings in navigation app probably made so you wont accidentally turn it off while driving then have to fiddle with it and risk a crash

Well my bad I guess. It looks like this is how it operates stock too...I could have sworn I was able to turn the screen off during navigation in the past, but must not have been able to.
I have checked and no such setting in default navigation for screen on and off.
I was just guessing I have a seperate GPS and only use nav when I'm in someone else's car and they're lost lol

Same thing happening here since recent update. It's not ROM-dependent, and I haven't figured out how to disable it.
I don't mind if screen timeout is disabled, and actually prefer that, but in this case I'm pressing the power button to turn the screen off and it repeatedly turns back on immediately.
Anyone know why my hardware button lights don't turn off?
Bump
Noone knows? :/ Still a problem for me.
I had this problem once, but it only happened if I had the camera running and then pressed the power button to lock the phone ..idk

any monitor brightness setting tool on ur phone?
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to add sound to the power button when pressed to turn screen off on my N4 CM10.1 JB 4.2.2.
Like iPhone

In settings/sound, there is Screen lock sound. The sound is delayed just a hair after the power button is pushed and until the screen turns off.
iphone?

Just to let you know I created a tasker action to beep and vibrate when screen turns off.

When I power up the phone the screen will flash for a second and goes dark, all the lights on the bottom buttons comes on and I feel the vibration but the screen won't turn back on. I also noticed that pushing the center button will turn the lights on and off of the bottom buttons, can not turn the power off the phone with the power button.
Any ideas?
Did you mess with brightness settings recently? I had a similar problem once after I edited the framework-res.apk file to lower the autobrightness levels, and set it too low. If you get the boot splash and rom boot animation first before it goes black, it could be a brightness issue.

What rom?
It was sitting on the side for about 5 months, did not play with brightness at all. But it had a charging port work done, if that makes any sense.
Stock, rooted.

At the initial power up it just flash a white screen than it goes dark. Can not see anything on the screen after 2 seconds so I can't go to recovery.
