For some strange reason the twitter app on the G2 will not auto update. I updated the app and it still would do it, then I deleted the update and it still would not update tweets. I can't delete the app because it was installed by google. Anyone else having this issue or know a fix?

Same thing a buddy of mine said, "Just use Twidroid." Guess I'll look into it then.
Check out Touiteur as well. That's my favorite Twitter app.
I think he's talking about twitter not updating for his contacts? I have the same issue. Facebook syncs fine, but not twitter for some reason?
Its twitter who cares. Your probably better off with it not working. Impulse typing seems to be frowned upon..

For a few days now every time i try to do a refresh on the notifications page in the facebook app. I get an error, something about a parse error.
I don't know why, since i haven't done anything different or added any new apps.
Any help?
Thanks

I have the same problem too. May be the problem is at Facebook server.
Same here, it fails to update since a few days back. This has happened before and that time it was due to changes of how FB works, not related to SE or android failure. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Perhaps they should remove the horrible Facebook app that's on the market and release one that actually works. Take a page from iPhone app.

Can you give a description of what's "horrible" about the app?
Aside from built in Chat and Places support, it's pretty close to the iPhone version in terms of features, and it works perfectly fine.

Same here, got the newer one from the market and it works great.
My friend was whining about his FB app too and I asked him if he updated it.
*He replied "but I have the latest version".
*I asked "did you manually DL the one from teh market and replace teh one on your phone?"
*He said "um, no... it did not say it needed an update so I never changed it"
*I explained the pre installed app bug and showed him the difference in the two apps. Problem solved!
oh okay good to know. Cuz I have the facebook app that came on the phone. I assumed (never ASS-u-me) it would be the same one in the market.
so i downloaded the new facebook app, and it looks very similar to the iPhone one, which is good. So I tried logging in and I keep getting a "login in error". And I checked the e-mail address and password 3 times.
Never mind it works now. Sorry.
I loaded a FaceBook update this morning.
Since then, I can't do anything in the app. I open the newsfeed, and if I try to navigate from there, my app crashes.

Flow? Yes it is working for me. Just installed it last night though so haven't used it much but it hasn't crashed on me yet where FB app crashes all the time. There is a free version you can install from the Market to try yourself. I bought the paid version.
same - crashes out doing stuff
logging in
opening app
random crashes
sometimes i get all the way to reading the profile and it randomly crashes
Yeah you're not alone. The new update crashes out on my phone and Xoom. Really, really bad update.

My advice is don't update on your phone, it's the same problems. Actually, if you still have the old version on your phone, any chance you could let me have the old apk so I can downgrade?
Same issues here. Crashes when I try to go to profiles. All I can do is read the wall and post to my wall.
Is there a way to downgrade?

I've started using TweetDeck last night, you can have different "columns" for Twitter and Facebook and a combined one.
It works pretty well, better than the FB app and I haven't had any FC's.
Found an older Facebook version and its runnuni better.

Guys, a lot of messages here about "problems on Xoom, Facebook on HC, Xoom this, Xoom that."
The problems aren't to do with Xoom or HC, I am running CM7 (Gingerbread) on my Desire HD and I'm getting the exact same issues since the latest update. This is an app problem, not a Xoom or HC one.
Try this out. Should fix the FC until facebook gets around to it
I guess I could fix the widget too, but its ugly and the next update would just break it anyway.

I really can't stand the Facebook app. Every single time they change anything something else in the app is being f*cked up. Are you sure it's just because of the ROM you're using?

There is currently not a Facebook app in the market. They haven't optimized it for Honeycomb yet, but you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143913&highlight=kanged and that should work. The only issue I have with it, is that the friends list part force closes.
They must have recently taken it down, thanx for the link tho

There is actually a Honeycomb/Tablet edition, though in beta...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handmark.friendstream&feature=search_result
Works well for me, and definately less crashes than the native Facebook for Android app...
I've actually gone so far as to uninstall the official Facebook on my Vibrant running CM 7. With the last update on July 18th, for some reason, even if you set it to never poll for notifications, never refresh, and not to sync, it still keeps the news feed open in the background and constantly refreshes it. I noticed huge battery drain one day when I took my phone off of the charger, barely used it all day, and later that night around 11 I had 14 percent battery warning. When I looked into the battery history, Facebook took up a whopping 81 percent of the battery drain on that particular charge.
Will stick to using the 3rd party options.

There are a lot of apps that you won't find in the market because they haven't been optimized for Honeycomb. I normally just install them on my phone, pull the apk, then transfer it to my tab. So far every app I tried worked just fine including fb and google voice.
Friendcaster for Tab seems great to me, but it loads continuously when I select the messages tab, not showing anything... if that'll be solved, and chat will be added, it will be the perfect FB app for me!
PS: anyone solved the messages issue?

Mine does that with messages too, and yes, chat is a must. At least chat works on the Facebook app though. That's about the only good thing about it. While we're on the subject of honeycomb apps and notifications not working; how hard is it for Words With Friends to get notifications to work?! Is it really that difficult? I play a word and THEN it tells me it's my turn.

My Messages tab does that too, as does the Events tab. Very annoying. I really hope a new beta's released soon. I sent the dev a PM about it but haven't heard anything back yet.
Strangely enough, I've seen a walkthrough video of the app (on Android Central I think) which showed them using the Messages and Events tab both working fine.
EDIT: New beta just released fixes the Messages issue, but I still have problems with Events.
I've been running CM7 since the last "Alpha" release and have it updated with the Oct 22 update. I don't recall exactly when, but I started recieving these "optout" notifications. I don't know if it's related to CM7 or something else, but they're not cool at all . Does anyone know where they're coming from or how to stop them?

Go sms pro doesn't do that, but i don't use go fb chat. What opens when you click it?

I'm not going to click those %^#$%#$%#$ Spam messages... I clear all the notifications. The only features of Go SMS Pro I use are SMS & MMS. I don't have Facebook, Myspace, Google+ or any other "Social networking" (Read: Stalking) crap. Want nothing to do with any of them. Any ideas how I can track down where it came from? I've looked at the installed apps and services with Titanium Backup and nothing stands out. Unless One of the other apps got 'updated' to include this new 'feature', Go SMS seems the most likely suspect at the moment.

wats a myspace?
Although I usually have 150-200+ apps installed at any one time, I started getting those annoying little "notifications" almost as soon as I installed the free version of the IPhone keyboard. Not cool at all...
How often do they come up? Is it at a predetermined time or is it random? A relatively easy way to narrow it down may be to look at market reviews of suspected apps.
