I noticed that some devs are hosting screenshots on crappy image hosts with lots of ads. Unless the devs are making revenue off of these ads, there is an image host imgur.com where the ads are fare less intrusive and direct hot linking is allowed.

Hi All,
I was surfing net and found lots of legit sites providing pay per download's.
What came to my mind is that we ask ROM developers to upload on these sites.
we normal users anyways download from where ever they upload.
in this process there is no change however we will be contributing to some extend to them.
specailly usefull for those of us who don't have the luxury to donate through paypal.
Need your opinion.
Mod : please delete thread if it voilates any forum rule. (Please infrom me the same in case its not a burden to you.)
Thats a really cool idea .
I mean I'm sure most of the people taking time out of their own lives to develope these roms (not for profit but because its a hobby they enjoy doing) could also help out many aspects of other peoples lives who may have never even owned a mobile phone (ie, donate the money to a charity of their choosing).
I'm sure that with the amount of dl's a single rom gets could really benefit people.

So you are telling that Developers are uploading their ROM to a website that wants a CORRECT survey before you can download the file? That really sucks, you'll get into trouble with some of those surveys. Also, why make money with file upload websites if you can donate to a developer.
I say no.
what a lame idea the reason why Xda is better because its devs don't push people to download something for money! if the user likes the devs work they donate to the dev infact these sites have waiting time and lame ads all around the page which may change the mind of someone who wants to donate.
Mediafire is always the best file hosting site!
I understand the point you all are trying to make.
however my point was simply in the event many people don't have the liberty or capacity to donate.
neither can they contribute with much to the community.
so just thought to take opinion of the community....
Looks like i might have hurt some of the basic fundamental values of XDA... in that case i am sorry.....
and Note: this is in no way a instruction, its just some thoughts of my own.
The rules of XDA state
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
so i dont think survey taking would be allowed
Thanks for the clarification please delete the thread or atleast lock it as i suppose it will be a clear voilation of XDA policies.

Here's a simple app I hacked together with Andromo which aggregates deals from various resources via RSS.
Did it for personal reasons. No affiliate links of my own are included but that doesn't mean other sites won't track you.

How's it going everyone my name is Roel and this thread is for my newly released app on the Playstore HQ Papers
(Since I can't post links yet, get the app by going into Playstore typing HQ Papers
This is my first app to put on the Playstore but I'm really happy with it, especially since after only a couple of days it is already ranked #77 in the top new paid for personalization, and I thought it wouldn't even get under 100. Currently when you get the app it comes with 239 wallpapers that I made all myself. In the app you will find ten different categories , starting with Android, Batman, Diamond, Football Teams, Parallel, Random Triangles, Smokey, Stripes, Square Triangles, and Two Tone. The thing that makes my wallpaper pack unique is the variety of colors it has for each category. If you looked at my stripes category you have two decisions to make: Which color do you want the stripes to be? Either black or white. Secondly what color background? A lot of other packs might only give you a couple of options, but I give you 18 different colors to choose from. I made it like that so that you guys can make sure you have your favorite color to show off, and if you still don't find your favorite color, then e-mail me, or also make the request here in the HQ Papers community .
*For this app you will see plenty of more updates to come in the future, with endless wallpapers!
*Please support me by rating 5 STARS and also giving the app a plus one! If you really enjoy my wallpapers then go ahead and tell your friends about this app!!!
Newest Update: What's New
Now there is 239 wallpapers in HQ Papers.
The following categories have been added:
*Android
*Batman
*Parallel
*Stripes
This is the first app I've put on the Play Store, and it surely will not be the last. Talk to you later : ]
-Roel :good:

Also this thread should be in the paid app section, but to post there you must be a member of XDA for over a year and have 100 posts.
Hence thread closed.
Been working on a little side-project in my spare time and wanted to share.
It detects and filters objects, writes detected objects to file and plays sounds (through an attached speaker or the Steam Deck's speakers) in response to detected objects.
App is available for download here (for a modest fee): Mod edit: Paid app link removed.
Any feedback or suggestions regarding features / improvements much appreciated.
