Lag not fixed? - Fascinate General

Not sure if this is the lag that "lagfix" should be "fixing". But i lately realized when i have text messages from a large amount of people, the scroll going up and down lags tremendously and its annoying. I've tried deleting a lot of texts but still does the same. It doesn't flow like how contacts fly through the screen as water in a steady stream. I also get this lag under fav's. Has this been posted before?

May need to undo lagfix and do factory data reset. The lagfix really only help in io intensive situations. I.e. muti tasking, leaving all apps running consistently. I've never once had lag when scrolling messages and I've read people who have lag doing a factory reset helps. Try it. U should have some luck. Just a suggestion to try and if it doesn't work we will go from thee

The so-called lag fix only enhances data read/write speed for certain system directories. It has nothing to do with visual lag, but without knowing what's causing the lag you're seeing, it's hard to say for sure whether that lag fix should or shouldn't be helping that.

Phone App is sloooooowwwwwww on Sprint Hero...

My phone app has been slow since I got my Sprint Hero. But lately, it has gotten extremely slow. Almost unusable... it's slow to open, respond to input and ring when someone calls. Any ideas, tips or tricks on what the deal is?
I thought about trying to cut down my contact list to see if that helps, but I really hate the idea of not having all my contacts available on my phone.
Any other ideas to speed this thing up?
Thanks!
I'd try reflashing and if you dont want to go to that extreme I'd try to make sure to reboot the phone daily
Are you using a task manager? Also I find a reboot every 3 or 5 days is usually a good idea unless you clear out some of the memory hogging processes like Gmail storage and such. Generally I'll notice a bit of lag if I fall under 30mb of available memory.
I have considered reflashing, but was trying to see if there were any other solutions first. I've reflashed a few times and keep finding that after while, the phone app consistently slowed down.
I typically reboot about every 3-5 days... lately a little more. Rebooting has been much more effective that task killers.
I've read that some folks had problems with slow contacts, but is it also affecting their phone apps? How many contacts is too many for this thing? Is 130+ contacts too many for this phone to handle?
mine does EXACTLY this ... but only after I pull the phone off of charge.. the charge light stays on.. and bam.... its slow.... only fixes with a reboot
I have a lot of contacts
I have 1400+ contacts and my pone is not too slow.
Thanks
Mario
I like to use the "all people" widget its located under the live folders when adding stuff to your homescreens. Basically it just has a list form of your contacts.
Then when you select one it loads up the people app
I found out that some of the apps, were causing the problem, I started uninstalling apps, I guess most of the apps are made for 1.6 maybe because we are on 1.5 causes some kind of issue. that's just my theory...
In the mean time, you can try that.
I find the phone app very slow in response. It's very aggravating.
I noticed on the Fresh Rom, there is a note that the Location service may be what is causing the slow down in the phone app... I turned off location service yesterday and noticed an immediate response increase with the phone app. I'm not ready to call this a fix yet, but I am going to keep the location service off for a little while longer and see if it helps.
If anyone else is seeing the phone slowness, give this a try and let us know your results...
It does work. And for the sake of clarification, it's a 1.5-wide problem and affects all 1.5 ROMs.
Are you using the Facebook linking? I noticed when I had this feature on the phone and contacts apps. It's a cool feature but not worth the slow down.

Does that mean that Locale wouldn't work? I'd rather deal with the slower dialer if so.
Yes, I am using the Facebook linking. I could see that killing it too. I wish it would just import pictures and info over to my Google contacts. Any ideas on how to do that?
And yes, turning off the location feature will disable general location info from the phone. However, it can be re-enabled from settings...
It's a problem that has to do with apps using seperate threads to check your location, which builds up over time causing the location services to eat clock cycles like Rosi O'Donnel eats candy on Halloween. Disabling location services is a temporary fix, and Flipz thinks he's solved the problem in his 1.1 release by using Android's location services instead of HTC's
I have to agree with the abcdfv, fresh 1.1 has completely eliminated the annoying phone lag for me...amazing work. Now if someone could address the keyboard lag this phone is ready to rock...

Are you linked to a Facebook account and running fresh 1.1, and there is no lag in the people(contacts) app?
I have a linked Facebook account on my Fresh 1.1 ROM and while there is an almost negligible lag in the phone/contacts application still, it is drastically snappier and quick to response compared to the Stock ROM.

I have most of my contacts linked to their respective facebook and flickr pages. Coldsweat says it best as "an almost negligible lag"...still present but not an issue in the slightest (.5 seconds). I am experiencing the same change with the contacts as well.
Give it a shot and post your results...I was very impressed.
FYI, I turned off Facebook sync (synced Facebook pics with SyncMyPix), dropped my slot cycle index to 1 and installed the Fresh 1.1 ROM. Holy crap. This thing is a screaming fast new phone
For those who are rooted (and not aware), Fresh ROM has come a long way and is really, very impressive. It's very fast and some of the interface mods are very attractive.

[Q] Internet Browser lag

Anyone else get this issue?
Sometimes I will click on a link in a web page, and it will appear to load, and finish loading, but the new page will not appear - it stays on the previous page, and at its worst, has taken almost 30 seconds to show you the new page, even though it has clearly finished loading the data. This happens on both wifi and mobile. Clearing cache seems to have little effect.
Additionally, the browser often completely ignores clicks even though it has registered, and up to 2 or 3 (or more) attempts is required until it will do anything.
Anyone else with the issue? I don't really want to use alternative browsers, as most of them aren't really very good IMO.
+ 1
I also get this
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I use dolphin hd so haven't noticed that
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Getting this myself but always assumed it was part considered a lag issue (am running stock JG4 no lag fix at the moment). I did notice the stalling less on Dolphin but my personal preference is the stock browser.
Just curious if anyone get's this still with the lagfix enabled?
Had experienced this as well. I suspect that it's actually loading in the background, but it just won't show any indications about that.
Had been on JM2 with the sd card ext4 fix and was getting this lag - sometimes I'd press menu button and the search bar would pop up. Other times the back b. utton and menu would be very unresponsive. However am now on JM5, using Hackeclair and one click lag fix and it seems much, much better. Not perfect, but much better. Pressing menu now does work much more consistently.

Messaging issues on girlfriends phone

Hey all,
My girlfriends ohine has been acting up lately. Apparently she is unable to delete messages from her inbox. It will start the process and the screen darkens up with the busy animation going but never completes. It also has been sending out duplicate messages (i received three copies of one message). She has also been complaining that it has been lagging lately. It is bone stock. I havent tinkered with it yet, and am not worried about doing so (running a rooted fascinate with froyo, have succesfully loaded and removed voodoo, etc). Her complaints seem to revolve around the messaging though. It hangs and sometimes freezes when she is compsing text messages, and/or trying to delete messages. Any suggestions on where to start? Not really looking to root if it can be avoided.
did you try restarting the phone?
That was my first suggestion. Internal mem seemed pretty low, had her dump the unnecessary apps and still no luck.
Mmmmm...Froyo!
are you using the built in messaging app or a downloaded one?
Built in. She doesn't use it much outside of the messaging and making phone calls. Nothing too crazy as far as apps go. Just games and the like.
Maybe try handcent or chompSMS.

try that, and also try deleting the messages or threads one at time
I found that deleting huge threads, regardless of the messaging app being used, caused the phone to freeze. Googled the problem and it seems to be a known issue among HTC devices. I ended up installing an app from the market called "delete old messages".
Have her run that at night while she sleeps. Its a bit of a slow process but once it finished deleting about 15-20k texts, I noticed a HUGE improvement in terms of phone response and the lag I was experiencing all but disappeared.
Hope that helps!

I had to do the same thing. I run it at least once a week, deleting at least 500 txt's each time. Great free app.
Had the same problem with HTC Sense. Once I rooted and went to CM, I haven't had any troubles. That's my only suggestion.

It doesn't not freeze it just lags a lot. That happens when like you said- when the thread is big. Apparently smartphone are slow deleting messages. I had a Windows Mobile phone before and it had exactly the same problem. Have ever tried restoring 1500 SMS with a backup app? It takes like half an hour. So it's not a issue, it's just the way the phone works when it comes to SMS

ICS 4.03 - AppDrawer lag

Hi,
is anyone els having lags opening the ICS apprawer?
is there any chance to resolve this "problem"?
ICS realy feals smooth, except starting the appdrawer...
Yup - It's the only lag I experience, nothing I've tried has an effect including forcing 2D acceleration, limiting background processes, changing animation and transition timings and not keeping activities.
For me it's a slight stutter rather than lag, the app draw itself would load much better if the launch animation was turned off. I believe it's related to a bottleneck in the systems memory bus.
Yep! I've experienced lag on the App Drawer with every ROM I've tried for my NS4G. I'm starting to wonder if the NS can handle ICS properly.
Agreed. Its one of those things that really puts me off and i would REALLY want a fix for this
I had really bad lag on my i9023 until I did a factory reset, after that it's a different phone. Know of quite a few others that found the same so may be worth a try (if you haven't already that is)
Not many responses to this thread, but I can honestly say that I do not experience any app drawer lag at all. i9020T 4.0.3 stock/rooted.
i got too... with stock and alternative launcher, really annoying thing.. had a fade to black effect even when i close an app...
and I know is off topic... but why my phone has rotation disbled??? all check are flagged!! why why and why!!!
edit 2: rotation issue solved just rebooting.. how noob!!!
I definitely get the stutter.
I even went as far as giving the launcher process higher priority but it made no difference.
Specifically I tried
renice -15 `pgrep com.android.launcher`

I'm pretty sure it has to do with loading the widgets as they are connected to the apps in the new drawer. Cm9 has an option that disables the connection between the apps and widgets, solves 99% of the problem. Glad this thread was made as I was getting crucified by delusional members over this issue. Blind allegiance ftw I guess

Yes, CM9 launcher fixes the issue for me too as long as you tick to have widgets separated from main apps.

I did try factory reset, and after that ive done some testing, launcher still lag...no change...maybe at the begging i thought its better, but when you run for example browser than exit from it and press menu it lags again...
so i believe for people that have lag in launcher (like me) factory reset is not solution...
we will have to wait for community fix or google fix ...

I have the exact same issue. The closest I have gotten to getting rid of it is what I have now.
Peter Alfonso December 20 nightly with glad os 2.2 with lazy governor. Its almost completely gone.
And I completely wipe everything and restore manually EVERY TIME I install a new ROM .

I also do experience a small lag when I launch it the first time, but that doesn't bother me too much, to be honest. I'm having more of a lag when I want to return to the app drawer from an application, it takes a two or three to close it.

S8 app issues: lag and hangs

Not sure how many of ya have faced similar issues with your S8 and apps. I will share some experienced by wife and myself.
Stock email app : lags the phone badly at times, and in worst case scenarios, it totally hangs the phone. Need to do hard reset using volume n power keys. This is a horrible glitch, cos the app is a pretty good email app.
Instagram : lags the phone occasionally. Does not load any pics or the screen, just does black blank. At least no reset required.
Candy crush : ( dont judge us!!!) Very slow loading.
Syncing issues with your fitness apps.
And lastly, SD card as a storage option for the camera never works. You may select it as your storage location, but after a few shots an error msg will appear and revert you back to Internal Storage. The sd card seems to be working fine on its own as a storage medium.
Do share if you face the same problems or more.
Hope a patch/fix ia released soon.
Thanks.
I use Instagram and 256gb sd card for my photos. I've not experienced any of these issues. I would try a factory reset and or replacement. I know it's extremely hard to believe you have 2 phones doing it though. So I'm not sure what's going on. Other than a rouge app causing issues. Maybe delete one of those apps one at a time and see if one of those are the problem before factory reset. Hope that helps.

I have the problem as well, all games lag and even an old Oppo outdoes this s8.
So frameskips a lot, not smooth. Have to use game tuner to reduce screen resolution to 35 percent to get decent gaming
Remove SD card completely and check if issues persist.
Checkout this thread. There's an app mentioned called SD Card Monitor, found out my S8 was essentially ejecting the card very frequently.

How do you migrate/move your photos to the sd card?
Im currently using Google photos.
Flickr app hangs for minutes
When using Flickr app phone freezes on an image. Home key dead. Show all apps running likewise. Pressing on/off a few times sometimes releases it like the kernel went to sleep.
General lags
Hi everyone,
don't know if this helps but after approx. 3 weeks of use I had terrible lags with my unbranded galaxy S8 (slow app start, general lags during operation, very un-smooth scrolling etc.). It runs on stock Rom, no root. Uninstalled any unnecessary apps, still no cure. Deleted cache partition through the service menu, but the lags persisted. Then I read somewhere that the app "all in one gestures" I installed to remap the Bixby button might be the cause. Uninstalled it, wiped cache partition again an rebooted my phone. Since then the problem disappeared, phone runs smooth as silk even with multitasking an a lot of ram consuming apps open.
Hope this is useful to some of you.

Hi!
I didn't uninstall Bixby, I uninstalled an app used to "remap" the Bixby button in order not to start Bixby upon pressing it. I had it set to launch the camera. Somehow it interfered with Samsungs launcher and made it terribly slow...
