Hi,
I have installed Incubus26Jc's super eclair 6.1 which works gr8 except for the fact that it does not load any music/mp3 files from the 8GB microSD card. The default music player shows a few data files. I have tried placing the music files in the root folder but that did not help. Tried other music apps from android market without any success. Pl advice.
Thanks!
All.. It looks like I got a solution. Backed up my data from SD card, formatted the SD on my android phone & restored the data. Now all music files load normally.

Phone is rooted and at first no problem, could play music from the embedded player. But now whenever I install a ROM, it says no music found. I have plenty of .MP3 files loaded on my SD card. What gives?
Same problem, with my android
I'd say try putting all of your MP3s into a folder located at /sdcard/Music/
Even though I'm running a modified version of CM6.1 and have music in multiple folders. Both on the root of the sdcard and in subdirectories of random folders... All of them still show up in the stock music app :/
Have you tried rebooting? or an app that rescans the SD card for media?

Hi guys,
I have this problem from the beginning when I flashed my HD2 from normal stock WM 6.1 to Android on SD-card. I never could play the music through my music player . Recently I flashed my HD2 to Android NAND so i thought maybe this wil help. But still not, I see my .MP3 files on my SD-Card with ES File Explorer. Is i click on the file it plays in musicplayer but it doesnt save the track. So i have to click every song each time and when the song is done i have to click on a new one.. Maybe there is a solution for this.
Thanks guys if you want to help me.
Greetings Slagers
Hi Slagers,
I'm currently using the Winamp app from Market. When started, it searches automatically for new music on my SD card. Got all mp3's in the following folder: [SD-Root]\media\Music. Don't know if this is mandatory, but works fine for me.
Argui
I haven't had that problem. I just store all of my mp3s in a folder I named MP3 on the root of my SD card.
You could try unmounting then remounting your SD card or changing the location of the folder that contains your music files on the SD card.
I really don't know why you are having this issue.
Desperate
Thanks for a quick reply, but neither of your idea's helped. Im realy confused that im the only person with this problem
I shall explain my problem in good details this time.
I bought my HD2 from a guy, i had a little bit of knowledge about Android so I installed android on my phone. Next thing i wanted music on my phone and put like 10 MP3 files on my SD-card. I resetted my phone like a hunderd times but my music player can't find the files. When i search with a File Explorer i see the MP3 files and i can play them. They will open in music player but they see only one song. So that doesnt work. I hope there is some1 with the same problem and has found the solution
P.S.
I put the music files also on my phone card. Didnt helped either.
Thanks
This is a longshot...
I know you say you are using MP3s but are they really MP3s? It might be worth using a media converter and trying to convert one of them to make sure that they really are the right format and right compression etc (e.g. not .flac or .ogg or .mkv etc).
Try downloading any MP3 from your phone browser, reboot the phone and see if it shows up in your music player.
I've had the same problem as you this evening
It seems that Android is caching your music library *anywhere* But if you're using Clockwork Mod, you can boot into Recovery menu and wipe your cache partition. This includes the cache of the music library.
I would recommend doing a backup before, because I'm not sure of any side effects, when clearing the cache partition..
Regards
Its working
Thanks alot guys, its working now! Wooot im happy
I am facing same problem
HI I am very new to andorid.
and very much enjoying it. except the issue that My Songs are found when in Music player.
If I run them manually through music player. they work correctly.
Can you tell me what did u do exactly, to get it resolved?
I am a newbie so please bare with me and provide step by step instructions.
THanks in advance.
i would recomend you to reformat your sd card and see...first make a copy of your contents on your desktop them format your sd card FAT32-64KB
then copy it back
then rename you mp3 folder to music
Hello, I've just bought an used i9505. As it was an italian version and I live in France, I flashed via ODIN the latest 4.4.2 official.
As this is nearly my 10th android smartphone and I have always used custom roms, I wanted to try the "original" Samsung ROM.
But I faced this issue : same mp3, when on sd card (in Music directory) are not recognized by the build in audio player.
So I decided to download and try some players from the playstore.
The only 2 ones that can see my mp3 are n7 (but refuse to play some formats like .ape with free version) and "audio player" (from Mobile_V5).
Same files, when are copied to internal Music directory are seen.
The SDXC card (Samsung 64 GB UHS-1) is recognized by the device, when I put files on it, I can see/add/move/delete from a file manager (mine is X-plore).
I've also tried several apps from the store that propose to rescan the SD card, and didn't help.
So, if you can tell me more about this problem please ?
Try formatting your sdcard. In the past this worked for me to get passed strange problems like this.

Sorry, I forgot to write it, but I did after I have moved the mp3 files. I've decided to try custom roms, so started by root my device. Currently my S4 is still running official rom but rooted.
Before flashing a new rom, I've installed Titanium Backup and hoped to save app's data into my SD card as I did with all my previous devices. From Titanium's settings it is not possible to choose some directory of sd card as backup location. It's the first time I encounter this error on one of my Android devices. From terminal app, I can see that extSdCard is mounted with 'rw' option, so not read-only, and as I wrote, I can put files on it.
Hi, I'm currently on Build No. 910GDTU1BOJ4. Yesterday I had 'Unmount'ed my 128GB memory card by going to Settings > Storage. And after that without turning off my Note 4, I had swapped out the card and after copying a few more things from my laptop I reinserted the card into the phablet. It automatically remounted the card. Everything was okay but in Music Player I saw that the existing playlists were not present anymore. And since then I am not being able to change order of Sound Tracks in any newly created playlist. Whenever I'm trying to do so, Music player is crashing. I have already tried a few things. I have cleared data of the Music app in the Application Manager. And I have also tried 'Wipe Cache Partition' from stock recovery. But none of them worked! Please help me. Thanks in advance.
There's nothing wrong with the SD card I'm using. It works fine on my computer and on my v10. But for some reason on my v20 it is constantly scanning the sd card. Media files still show up but I cannot open them until the never ending scan ends. Also the music player also does not read the music on the card. I know this use to be an issue with older Android phones but I didn't expect my v20 to have this issue.
It says:
"Scanning media files... try again after scan is complete"
More details? App? Brand of sd card? Type of files? How do you have them organized? Do you have a .nomedia file where it shouldn't be? Etc.?

200gb Lg Brand Micro SD. Using the stock file app . The pop up comes up on all types of media files.
I can still play files on es file explorer however apps such as black player and the stock music app do not recognize any media on the sd card unless I transfer it into the internal storage. I removed all .nomedia files from the card and the card works perfectly fine when plugged in to any other device.

Depending on how much media you have (hopefully less than available internal space) transfer everything to internal memory using es file explorer (or Root explorer - my preference) (avoid the Android folder - but backup any app data you have cause if any apps save their data to the sd card, it will be lost in this method along with any apps you installed to the sd card *just redownload them from play store*).
Then format SD card using phone.
Then transfer everything back to the SD card
FYI doing this changes the modified date of any photos/videos so the phone will think they're new. Only drawback of doing this. I had an issue with my Samsung 256gb card and that was the only way I could get it to fix.
I had to backup my files with my 200GB Sandisk to my laptop, format card for hahas, then retransfer back manually. Did my 90+GB of flacs while watching a movie and the other 40+GB overnight while sleeping.
I transferred stuff onto my 200gb SanDisk card that I had been using in my tablet. The files all showed in file Explorer but wouldn't show in gallery or music players.
There was a lost.dir folder on the SD card (along with others from the tablet) the folder seemed empty (didn't check for hidden files) I deleted the lost.dir folder and the phone can now see everything. (pictures all in gallery now as well as mp3s showing in music players)
Worked for me... Not sure if it will apply to your situation but I figured I'd share...
Same issue but different scenario
Hi All,
I am experiencing a similar issue with a specific app (only so far) - 9gag.
Whenever I download an image from their feed with the dedicated 'save' button, it will save it onto my internal storage (can't change the location of that via app), but it won't show in my gallery.
When I try to open the imaeg in the file explorer it says 'scanning media files... try again after scan is completed' - however, no matter how long I wait, I can't open it and it never becomes visible in the gallery.
I tried following things so far:
- reboot: it works, every time I reboot, all files are scanned and in the gallery, however, if I save further images, the new ones won't show up until I reboot again
- stop media scanning service and clear data: no effect
- rename folder: no effect
- rename file: this works, it shows up in gallery
- copy/move onto sd card: this works too, it shows up in gallery
As you can see, there ARE ways I can make the pics visible, but none of them is a sustainable way. I can't reboot or rename after each image I save, that's pure madness.
Any ideas what else I can try?
Oh and btw, all other apps do work, for example if I save files from screenshots, downloads, Line or WeChat, the phone does create a folder in the same way it does for 9gag and it is visible in the gallery with no problems, so it might be app specific? I also reached out to 9gag already but i don't think they will reply...
