I just told them that I had SERO 500 then switched plans to be able to use Evo. Now that Evo is allowed on SERO I just asked if I could switch back.

It was a super-cheap plan that was, if I'm correct, supposed to be for people who were referred by sprint employees. But at one point in time, Sprint allowed almost anyone on. I have it - $30 for 450 minutes, unlimited data and text but no free Sprint navigation or TV - I kept one line for my daughter.
Then, Sprint decided no smartphones on SERO so a lot of people griped and complained. Now, it looks like they are allowing smartphones on SERO after all.
Now I have to see if I can switch back as well. I also want to see if I can still add a line.
SERO Premium just started today for current SERO plan holders
$40 now
500 anytime
Unl. N/W @7
Unl. Mobile to Any Mobile
Unl. Data/MMS/SMS/
*Includes Blackberry now
+$10 fee if you want a 4G phone (EVO/EPIC)
**Previous SERO Plan was dumb phone and WinMo friendly
All android plans are required to be on the new plans. the "everything" plans.
This must be a hoax... I wouldn't bother trying to waste time arguing with Sprint...
Edit: I did some snooping around and I stand corrected!

Going from a SERO plan to an everything plus(whick doubled my bill) was the only thing I didn't like about this phone. I love Sprint never gonna leave them.
Now let's just hope they will put me back on SERO from Everything Plus

Just tried it twice. Both times are got really *****y, irritated CSRs that were getting quite upset that I was asking to get back on the SERO plan.
I had the SERO 500 plan on my Mogul for two years, but since I switched in June and it's been more than 30 days they said they can't even do anything about it.
I'm considering just to keep calling and have them all put notes on my account. Figured I'll wear 'em down eventually.

Quote from sprints website: "SERO Premium rate plans will not be discountable – customers on current SERO plans receiving discounts above and beyond the already discounted SERO rate will lose those discounts when moving to a SERO premium plan. "
You might be able to keep the $20? but the 19% is probably not likely. Unless the rep screws up! Which happened for me when I had my SERO
so, if i was never on a sero account but want it now how do i get it? or am i screwed?

You can't. The only way (if possible) is to buy the plan from someone who is giving it up and they do a TOL (transfer of liability). but I'm not sure Sprint is allowing those anymore.
Even when SERO existed, you couldn't switch from a regular account to a SERO account. You had to be a new customer.
ok so i never had a Sero plan, is there some way that I can switch to a Sero???? I would be happy with the extra saved $$, specially for college!!!
{EDIT} nvm saw the post above. that sucks
I had SERO 500 for years then switched plans when the Evo came out. I called employee services this morning and they switched me back to SERO 500

I'm with you. Sprint's "Just Because" fee for fake 4G is crazy already but now for 3G?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
the thing that upsets me is they aren't changing the prices of plans, so they can still advertise the 69.99 rate for "unlimited" data. they need to just call it a 4g fee or raise the overall price of plans. I don't like the idea of charging an additional fee for a feature that's supposed to be "unlimited" in their plan rate.
That's so messed up that's what turned me away from the evo and epic was the extra fee when I wouldn't have 4g in my area anyway thank God I'm locked in for two years now I'm really going to tether as much as possible just to piss them off lmao
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Sprint actually improved their company image over the past year thanks to Android, but I think this will destroy most of, if not everything, they worked for. What a shame. In the future I will definitely consider T-Mobile as they are almost the same price and I think their HSPA+ is a much better concept than 4G.
I look at this as another excuse to get that HTC Evo upgrade
glad i went to virgin mobile. lol JK.. even with the new fee its still cheaper.. I just wish sprint would have just came out and said.. hey listen we gotta raise X fee to help improve our network or this or that. etc.. with that said I would be mad if I was still on sprint.lol
but 25 bucks a month is too hard to pass up. sure i have a crappy phone ( intercept ) but im sure virgin will get something better down the road.. etc..
But this will impact sprint in a negative light again. unless they do something. lol oh well enjoy your 80 dollar plan without 4g. lol ( for those who dont get it that is )

Are you serious? Your saying you would spend alot of money for a phone (Evo/Epic) but can't afford the extra $10?
All of y'all stop acting like cheap bastards.. Even with the extra $10 were still paying WAY less then Verizon.. For 2 lines I'm paying $132 unlimited everything... The homie who has a blackberry on Verizon is paying that exact same thing... by itself lol...

Your not seeing the bigger picture those who have family plans will have to pay for each line so if u have 5ppl that's an extra 50$ a month for something u already had for free witch is pretty rediculous

Extra $240, since it's a monthly fee over a 2 year contract. People never think of total cost of ownership when it comes to cell phones.
Yes, still cheaper than Verizon and AT&T.
This is the aftermath from the lawsuit in which the people filed against the fake 4g charge. Sprint said the $10 wasn't for the 4g, but for the more capable phones. Now to retaliate they are charging the fee across the board...

This.
Basically, the way I look at it, their requiring an "Everything data" plan for a smartphone should have covered this, and they should have increased the base price of the plan (for new customers only) instead of instituting this bull**** addon fee.
Second, I have no desire to move to a 4G phone - my Hero does everything I need it to. If I lose or otherwise need to replace my phone, now my bill goes up $10, even though I will be using the EXACT same phone in the EXACT same config? Since I have a family plan with 5 lines, that's a potential for $50/month.
Lastly, doing away with the 1 year upgrades for Premium members is the final straw. In the last two days, without me gaining a single iota of value, I am looking at an additional $50/month for the next 17 months (contract is up in May 2012) in addition to missing out on the $150 upgrade credit for 5 phones. This is on top of the changes they made for corporate discounts in August (which is costing me $15 more a month).
I'll be shopping for a new carrier in short order, even if it does cost me more. I'm tired of Sprint changing the rules and making up bull**** explanations, just so Hesse can have a bigger yacht.
Man sprint is on a roll this week..lol
oh well come 2012 its not gonna matter, lol
is it just me or are people missing the point?
"Sprint will increase its postpaid rates by applying a $10 per month Premium Data add-on charge to activations of smartphones beginning Jan. 30....."
For example my Hero is already activated
Just wanted to let you guys know that, according to the Sprint rep that I spoke to today that all smart phones that that aren't already on the $10 premium data plan will then be charged when changing to ANY smart phone, regardless of 4g. So lets say you have a Samsung Intercept and dont pay the $10 fee, then when you upgrade to the Samsung Transform, you will then be paying the $10 fee for unlimited DATA. I invite you to confirm this with your provider.
I think its pretty sorry, though I pay the fee already for both my Epic and Evo in the amount of $10 on my line, if I were to let my family member use one then they would be charged the $10 premium, and then when they switched back, they would be paying it anyway with the Intercept because of the switching. Seems pretty sorry to me. Sorry if this isn't NEW new's but, thought I would share.
Sorry if this is OLD NEWS.. AGAIN.. I didn't know.. No need to flame me.
Its better then 15 or30 on at&t and 30 on verizon. I use to be on verizon and had to pay 30. So its not that bad. Everyone neds to stop complaining about this. I could understand complaining about it if only sprint did that but every other cell provider charges more. Plus we knew this was coming. Its old news.

I agree. It is just Sprint employees seem to have a habit of giving out incomplete or incorrect information.
I did some homework and found this:
http://www.bgr.com/2011/01/18/more-information-on-sprints-10-premium-data-fee/
Premium Data Add-on Charge for All Smartphones
Effective 1/30/11, all current and future 3G and 3G/4G smartphone activations will require the $10/month Premium Data Add-on charge. This allows Sprint to continue to offer simple and affordable unlimited data plans for our smartphone customers, while maintaining a wireless network able to meet the growing appetite for mobile data.
Complete details are included in the Premium Data Add-on Charge Launch Guide found on ISC > Quick Links > Premium Data Add-on Charge.
Details:
The Premium Data Add-on charge applies to:
All smartphones operating on the CDMA, iDEN and 4G networks.
A smartphone is defined as a device that supports a robust operating system including: Android, BlackBerry, Instinct, Palm and Windows Mobile.
All customers activating a new line or upgrading/swapping existing lines (consumer, IL, and most CL customers).
The Premium Data Add-on charge does NOT apply to:
S&R exchanges (warranty or insurance events)
30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee devices exchanges for handsets activated 1/1/11 to 1/29/11
Existing smartphone customers will remain on their current rate plan, until they upgrade, perform an ESN swap or activate a new smartphone
Existing Seasonal Standby customers prior to 1/30/11
Special priced CL customers tied to a Corp ID
Meh... US cell phone companies all work together to keep the prices high, though no one is willing to do anything about it.
US cell phone rates are among the highest in the world, with only a few companies dominating and price controlling the market. Its sad, but we can't do much about it.
Quit whining. Sprints pricing beats all competition for unlimited everything. I'm very happy with sprint and will be even more happy once the new release/updated roms begin to come. I pay about 80 a month and would pay 120 for verizon and more for at&t for the same plan. (I get an employee discount but even without it they're still cheaper)

$240 is worth it to some IF they get reception. What good is all those minutes, bells, and whistles if you can use it? Personally I am glad I moved, and dropped my Epic. Sprint in a lot of places in the states were a joke. AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile had better overall reception in the places I traveled.
personally I'd pay more for services I can use than pay less for services I can't use or barely use.

If you were not paying the extra $10 before the change & have to swap out a defective device make sure you don't swap into a loaner phone. When you get your replacement device Sprint may try to charge you. I work for a Sprint repair center & its a pain to get Sprint care to remove the charge.

Over all it's less then $240 because Verizon tends to discount their phones much more then Sprint ever does. VzW has, in the past year, given away the Fascinate for free and done BOGO. What has Sprint done with the Epic? They've only recently reduced the price to $200 from $250. The fascinate on Verizon started at $200, so that's $50 saved up front. And if you got it for free, you would have saved $10 by being on Verizon ... which has a much better network.
Believe me, Sprint isn't doing anyone any favors... Other then maybe the folks on SERO.
I was looking at my account today, and realizing that between my wife and I we use VERY FEW minutes altogether.
The overwhelming majority, and I am talking about 90-95% of our calls are either off-peak or mobile to mobile.
What I am wondering is what is the best way for me to go about lowering this bill. We have 1500 minutes, plus all the unlimited stuff Sprint offers.
I want to keep the unlimited Data, but am not terribly concerned about anything else.
Ideas? Anything at all would be greatly appreciated aside from calling me names and questioning my humanity
I'm not a Sprint employee (soon to be one), but I have found that the 1500 minute plan is the cheapest plan that includes the mobile to mobile talk (I looked into this a few weeks back for myself) and found that there's not really any other options. There is no plan less than 1500 minutes that includes data and text.

So, is there anyway to get an employee discount w/out having to agree to a two-year renewal?

Yeah, you can get any corporate discount without having to sign a new contract. You should be able to do it through your employer (or where ever you get your discount from) and it will take effect without a new contract.
All else fails...call Sprint and have them work it out.
I've got a Citibank discount of 27% off, but it's only on the main line and my bill is still $178/month on 1500 minute shared. (I have 4 lines total.)
Anyone able to stay with SERO when they got their Galaxy S3?
Salesman is telling me, no go.
Should be able to, I was able to use the Evo 4G LTE on it before I decided to switch to the S3 instead. I'll know a little later when my phone arrives, but I don't see why that would have changed.
Edit: To clarify, you do already have Sero-P with premium data, right? You definitely won't be able to get it on old Sero.

My GS3 is now active on my Sero-P account, so 100% positive it works.

Were you able to do it online or from the phone? I have SERO-P without the premium data add-on of $10 and it keeps telling me that I need to change my plan

I was able to activate over the phone. you need sero-p + $10. your bill should be around $53 after taxes.
You can do it online too but its easier to just call.
Paid full price for the phone so i could keep my current SERO account. Had no issues so far... Now i just have to wait for the phone.

TEP will be $11, it went up. I'm considering dropping it, or at least the Asurion part. It's at a point where it probably isn't worth it.
You can still get discount pricing and keep Sero-P though.
ya i just switched to esrp which is equipment service and repair with out the asurion and its only $4 a month.
It'll work on Sero-P. I couldnt' upgrade online, I had to call in. You need to call the Sprint Employee Accounts phone# (google it) and it'll go smoothly. If you call the regular line no one knows what sero is.
I was able to do it with SERO-P via online chat pretty easily. It didn't work doing it from the phone or the website.
whos with me ??
Just switched my plan over, 1 2 3
price stayed the same, now I can use 10-15-20 gbs a month! woot
So it stayed at 49.99 a month?
switched over yesterday and i'm spending $30 on the plan in addition to the talk and text i already have. saving $5/month now and i dont even use the wifi tethering
I'm on the value plan so im paying $5 less for going unlimited as opossed to my 5 Gigs of data
When I switched the tmo rep said the offer would only be available for a limited time, even when they discontinue the offer whoever got it will still be truly unlimited. I don't know if he was just trying to get me to upgrade the other lines though. Any who get it why it last!

Guy, you act like this is 1998, and there is no Google.
Anyone know if you can get the unlimited data plan if your getting the android preferred pricing?

Talking advantage now! Thanks! :victory:
I hate Telus. I pay 30 bucks for 6 gigs but they could care less if I tether. They even told me they have no way to check lol...I guess that's a plus. Besides I can't dent 6 gigs if I try...I live in so many wifi hotspots I never use data
I called twice to switch to their new really unlimited plan, and they both said "its the same as 5gb (the one I have), but without tethering. You'll pay $5 less, but you'll still get throttled at 5gb"
Obviously he had no idea what I was talking about. I want to switch and I can't do it from the 'my account' app. Any other way to switch? Will I have to go to the store :banghead: ?
Also, did you notice any changes in speed after switching? (even though I think you have to wait for your current data cycle to end to see the changes)

Try again and if he answers again, hang up and keep trying till you get someone else that knows that they are doing

I had a grandfathered in data plan so all of my lines are 20$ a month for 5g throttle .. But I hit that **** every month
So I switched my line to the unlimited today and yeah it 10 bones more but damn its going to be nice..!!
And i was tethered to my laptop for a good 30 minutes no problems ..
I was on the 5G and the rep told me that this data plan would cost me $20.. but then again that was the four rep i talked to cause none of them knows a thing

It's $20 bucks for value plans, and $30 for Classic plans. I'm on value plan so I was paying $10 for 2g so now I'm paying $10 more for unlimited. I think its a pretty sweet deal
