I'm overseas right now, which means that Google Voice technically doesn't work for me. However, because of SipDroid and Grunted's walkthrough (on this forum) I have google voice working.
I'd like to be able to use the new Voice Plus app, but when i search for it in the market or try to install it with AppBrain, I can't, because the app isn't available over here.
Can someone please pull the apk and post it? the app itself is free, just not available to those of us who are overseas.

heya,
I have a Google Voice account, that's already been activated - I live in Australia, and I used LocalPhone to patch it through to my normal VoIP line here, to do the activation.
So I can login to the Google Voice website, send SMSes, and I've even received a transcripted voicemail (appears to be a tele-marketer...haha).
Anyhow, my question is, is it possible to activate Google Voice on the Android, outside the US? It seems to require its own activation, outside of the normal Google Voice activation, not sure if there's a workaround for people outside the US?
Cheers,
Victor
oh you did it through your voip, good job i did it with a temp us number but found out that will just end up paying long distance regardless.
Try activating it with wifi and make sure you are using the latest version from the market.
Hi Guys, on my previous Galaxy I had flashed the vibrant6 ROM for t-mobile and enjoyed it quite thoroughly.
It had the ability for voice to text. It was integrated into the keyboard. I have downloaded the google search 2.1 but that only allows me to search using my voice. I wish to be able to send a text message also.
Does anybody know where to find this program. I found it very convenient especially when driving.
Hey everyone,
I am wondering if y'all figured out if google voice can refresh itself to get text messages. My friend's phone receives text messages ONLY after she refreshes Google voice.
Anyone else have this issue or not issue, nuisance?
I don't think anybody really understands what you are asking. What phone does your friend have, and are you referring to the text messages that are forwarded to the phone from Google Voice, or the text messages that are sent directly to the phone, or something else entirely (viewing Google Voice text messages in an application or web browser)?
It's kind of hard to answer a question when I have no idea what you're asking.
As far as I know Google Voice is not capable to run on WP7. I tried it through the browser and it required a download which WP7 cannot accomodate. So yes please clarify the question and maybe we can help.
Are you perhaps talking about one of the GV apps ?
There are two (or maybe three) unofficial Google Voice apps in the market. That's what OP is asking about.
Remember those are unofficial 3rd party apps and each has their own pros and cons.
WP7 API currently is quite limited. To make full use of Google Voice capability, Microsoft need to open up API furthermore so that Google will port an official Google Voice over.
FYI, on my Android phone, the native Google Voice app is tightly integrated with phone dialer pad so that you don't need to use a separate dial pad to call through Google Voice. Also, the multi-tasking capability means Google Voice app can sit on the background to receive text messages and voice mails. These are currently not possible on WP7. One of the Google Voice app needs to setup a dedicated server (from donated funds) to support the push notification.
Three advantages about Google Voice:
* cheap international calls on your cell phone
* free SMS
* free visual voice mail.
I got my Xoom this morning and I am absolutely in love. My only issue is that I'm not able to install the Google Voice app to get my text messages and phone calls forwarded to my tablet. I don't believe Google Talk has the same abilities as Google Voice. I haven't tried sideloading the APK yet but does anyone else have any ideas or did I just miss some functionality of Google Talk?
I went out looking for Google Voice too, but it appears that it's not available for Honeycomb yet.
Hopefully this is a temporary thing.
I hope so too cause I'm really lazy and would rather do my text messages on my tablet when I'm using it. I guess I could always just log on the Google Voice website but notifications would be better.
agreed... I want GVoice too.
Anyone tried sideloading the APK to see if that works? I'll try when I get home if no one has by then
side loaded
Yep I was able to install google voice but get an error when trying to to launch it
Go to the web site, that's how I have been doing it until the app comes out.
I really want to make voip calls via gvoice.

Does the Xoom have a microphone? I was actually wondering how the front facing cam would be beneficial (video conference-wise) without audio.
Yes it does have a mic. I used the TIKL app on it to talk to my bestie. TIKL is like having a nextel walkie talkie for those who might know.

Can you initiate calls directly from the google maps app?
I have the US wifi version and use GrooVe IP to make VoIP calls from my tab. It works great. I can directly select phone numbers in the browser to make outgoing calls. Unfortunately, Google has removed the feature to initiate calls from the maps app. That means when I use maps to search for a place that I want to call I have to remember the phone number, close down maps, open up my dialer app and punch the number in myself.
Is that the same for the 3G/4G version? If not, could someone post the map apk? Is there another way to add that feature? It works fine on cell phones, I don't understand why Google removed that feature on tabs?!? (granted they are wifi tabs but isn't that what Google Voice is for?)
Thanks for any input!

Oh that does sound like a pain. I will play with it this evening and see if I can help come up with something. Will copy and paste work?
Can at least someone with a 3g/4g model confirm if it's any different on their tab? Thanks

Mod please move to Q&A section. I was initially hoping to get a discussion started but had to modify OP due to lack of responses.
I see no way to initiate a call from google maps on my verizon galtab 10.1 4g lte
(i also have groove ip installed)
If you go to the more info button, it will open a web page with the listing, including phone number but i think this is pretty clunky. The button doesn't work, so you have to copy and paste it manually still.
