Hello,
i have a big problem. I got a new HTC Magic from Vodafone Austria. This one is a
PVT 32A Device
HBOOT-1.76.0009 (SAPP1000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29
I tried to install a Perfect SPL but i made a big mistake.
1.) I installed androod and rooted my phone
2.) I installed ROM Manger
3.) After i launched this app it asked me which recovery should be installed. I selected Magic
After this i tried to flash a Engineer hboot but now the phone only reboots after the HTC MAGIC Logo is displayed on the screen. This reboot is in a loop and no fastboot or recovery is working. Only when i press on the joybutton the device goes black and a blue led is lighting. I also have no CID and no Gold Card for my phone. I read so many posts about bricked phones but i found no solution. Someone said it should work with an SAPPIMG.NBH on a FAT32 formated SD Card. Other one said, i should use a Gold Card and but a SAPPIMG.ZIP on it. So i tried to make a Gold Card with my HTC Desire but this also doesn't work.
So has someone a solution for this problem? I can't send it back to HTC because i have no invoice.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks for your help
regards
Take out the battery...
Put it back in, hold the back button + power...
Do you see the fastboot?
if not... your out of luck

Hi,

Hi there, I have a prbolem and need your help.
Here is the situation :
I have a HTC Rogers magic and wanted to root it, so I followed this procedure :
greatbigdog01.wordpress[add dot com here]/2010/07/12/new-shorter-rogers-magicmagic-rooting-guide/
Everything went well until the step 5.
I changed the Radio/SPL/Recovery using the utility, everything went well, wrote that it sucessfully updated, but after doing the reset the phone command, my phone was stock on the HTC Magic screen. Nothing.
I switched back to the newer SPL. Everything went well but again, stock on the magic screen. Don't know why. My PC does detec the phone.
I can go in Fastboot ect... (Home + power work, volume down + power work and I think back + work too) So from here I think I am not bricked.
Here is the info from the fastboot(?) :
hboot 1.76.2007 sapp50000
cpld-12
radio-6.35.10.18
If I am right, If I flash a rom that isn't compatible with my SPL/Radio I can brick my phone, so I rather wait what you guys suggest me to do. I don't care about loosing root as I need my phone back up asap.
Hope I gave you the needed informations
Thanks in adavance.
Post ALL fastboot info please.

I think thtat's all the info?
Have you flashed a new rom that was designed for the new radio? Try Smoki or RCmix.
What do you mean by new rom? Since I did exactly what is wrote in th tutorial and everything went well, I think I have the recovery-ra-hero-v1.6.2.img? Also tryed to flash back update-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip but it did not help.
Do you think I should put back the old SPL (1.33.2010?) with the radioswitcher and falsh a custum rom?
After you flash spl, radio and recovery you need to boot info recovery by holding down home and pressing power. Then you copy a rom for the new radio on your card and flash it from recovery.
Ok so you want me to try one of the 2 rom you posted?
Yup. Those if you want Android 2.1 with Sense or CursorSense if you want Android 1.5 with Sense
Thanks a lot , I wil give it a try. If I ever want Cyanogen, do you think it is possible that I switch back to old Radio/SPL, then without booting, flash the new rom? Do you think it would work?
As far as I know, there are 2 or 3 ports of CyanogenMod 6 for the Magic with 6.35 radio. If those don't work out for you, just use eyegor's radio switcher to install the old radio/spl/recovery and then flash the ROM from recovery.
2 boots, 1 rom 1 radio make sure for your device!
Good luck
Cheers!!
Thanks everyone! Put back the old spl and flashed cyanogen and it booted! Thanks again!
first post so hi all , just wondered if anyone could help with my problem , i have a htc magic 32b voda (unlocked) plus rooted by goldcard , tried to install various compatible roms with no success , at first i used a one click rooter - pants! didnt seem to work at all and wouldnt let me write any files and would fail installation
so i rooted via goldcard and my installations complete fully without any errors at all ....but......i cant seem to get off the red voda loadup screen and boot in to the phone at all after that so i have to restore my nandroid backup and start again ........any ideas as to why this is failing miserably for me ? im wiping and reformattin also between reinstalling .

thanks in advance to anyone who can help me !!!
You have wrong radio/spl combo.
Change your radio to 2.22.19.26I.
Flash G custom recovery (32B).
Flash any 32B rom or your nandroid backup.
PS: Make sure that the last "H" in the first line of your fastboot change back to "G".
This will happen when you change the radio!
thanks , but now i have a worse problem , after i updated the radio and reebooted there is nothing , the phone is stuck on the logo again but with no recovery options , fastboot or anything is there a way to restore it sumhow ? or is it bricked forever ?
According to this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403
You should have the 2.22.19.26I radio. The spl you have works fine with this radio.
So which radio did you flash and how did you flash it...
Post here the command you used.. plus the source of the radio image...
ps: I hope that you did not flash the 2.22.23.02 radio... that's for the magic with 3.5 mm jack!
ii flashed the 2.22.19.26I radio in the clockworkmod recovery option- install .zip from sdcard, after wiping cache and data , image for radio was also found on here somewhere.
Did you let it reboot a couple of times?
Did the process reboot into the recovery by it self?
Why did you flash radio from recovery when you have eng spl?
Any way... if you don't have recovery nor fastboot you are in a bad situation.
Do a search in this sub-forum and you shall find many suggestions to how to fix if possible.
Good luck :0)
Why does he need the 26I radio? I'm on a 32b mytouch and I'm running the 23.02 radio with no problems on any of the roms i've tried.
so i take it i bricked because i flashed the wrong radio?!! or because i may have flashed it wrongly ?

I *think* it's more a bad combination of SPL and radio that causes a brick, rather than the radio itself, if that makes sense?
No body knows!
Imho i think that you did not let the radio write operation complete in the right way.
When you flash radio trough recovery the system will reboot twice.
If you flashed the radio you said you flashed, then your system should be up and running. Even if you flashed the other 2.22 radio...
It also seems like a bad flash of radio since you got no activity at all now. Radio is like bios for a computer... No bios or bad bios will result in a brick!
ahhh thinkin hope was lost ...wen i read about brickin , it seems that nobody who had bricked it could connect via usb at all ...... but after leaving my usb connected for the day a unknown device is found but no drivers will install for it , when attempting to turn on into recovery still no fastboot but also device isnt found on pc anymore , is there any way with phone turned off and charging to restore at all ... anything would be helpfull ... thanks guys
First I must apologize for my bad english, I have an HTC MAgic 32A and decide install cyanogem ROM.
Before to proced I make the root using Universal Androot, as said in: h..p://limitlessdroid.com/2010/08/27/how-to-root-droid-from-2-2/
After i install ROM Manager and make “Flash Clockwork Recovery”.
Until this moment everthink work as well.
Then I select “Reboot into Recovery.”, my phone reboot and I press and hold HOME + BACK.
After that the phone restart and show Operator Logo, after 4 seconds he restart again and show operator logo, ...
I Remove the batery, press and hold HOME + BACK and touch POWER, and nothing works, just show operator logo and restart...
I don´t know what I can do!!!! Someone knows what i can do?
It sounds like you have the wrong split. Press and hold the back and power keys and see which radio and split you have.

Your radio and hboot are for a 32b phone. You said you have a 32a phone. You will need to flash using the home and power keys to recovery with the 1.33.2010 Eng spl. Once your done with that you will need to flash the tmobile stock radio and rom. From there follow the forum for 32a Tom's. If you want cyanogen use the 6.0 in thus forum. But if you cant flash or boot to recovery your phone is bricked my friend. As far as I know there is not a way to debrick what has been done. Sorry man

I will send for assistance. I tell what is the result after that! Thanks for alll! If the assistance can't unbrick the phone always have the JTAG Cable.
Apparently it was not my fault, because the service has encountered a problem on mother board.
Hi, unfortunately I will have to ask for help as I can't find a solution myself.
Until today i ran CyanogenMod 6.1 on my Vodafone HTC Magic and wanted to flash GingerYoshi on it.
Therefore I followed this guide to install a new radio and hboot which seemed to be necessary for the GingerYoshi Rom. According to the guide I used the RA-Recovery 1.7 to flash the SuperWipe_v2.zip, rebooted into RA-Recovery again, flashed the radio.zip, rebooted ... into nothing but the vodafone Logo on red background. At the first boot it showed a little box with an arrow pointing to an Android-Robot and then it stuck at the vodafone screen.
I can't get into fastboot (Back + Power) or any other mode (Volume Down + Power) it only boots to the red vodafone screen. The only action I can provoke is a black screen and a blue led when pressing the trackball during power up.
Any ideas what to do now? Did I really screw my telephone?

Yes you did... the reason is simple.
When you flash a radio using the custom recovery, you have to wait like 2 min for it finish. It's normal that it will reboot a couple of times while it's flashing, and it's also normal to see a different picture for a while....
You ( this what I believe) just did not wait long enough for it to finish and tried to push a button or take out the battery...
So, yes, you are bricked!
Thats a shame...but when flashing radio and spl, we have to double our attention.
it happens bro, try pull out the batery and wait till tomorrow, and try again, if it doesnt work, it seem you have briked
Thank you for your answers - even though they aren't very encouraging
But mumilover might be right, although I waited quite some time before I started to panic, I obviously acted to early an interrupted the flashing process.
Does anyone know a German shop which can unbrick the device? Otherwise I will have to buy a new phone. In the meantime I will stick to my good old Siemens S45
