[Q] Unplugging Headphones causes music to play? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I posted this problem on the CM forums as well, but thought there may be some more opinions on the subject here on XDA.
I don't know if other people with Mytouch 1.2 phones are having this issue, but every time i unplug my headphone from the jack, either the Google Listen app or the Music app will turn on and play the last item i was listening to. This happens even if i try to use a task killer to force close both. they always open back up and start playing again. this has happened on CM6.0.0-DS, CM5.0.8, Chromatic 4.5, and a couple other ROMs i've tried.
Is there something i can do to make this apps stay closed when I'm not using them? i already got rid of Listen, but i like listening to my music and dont want to have to uninstall the music app...

Open music and hit menu to get to settings. What all do you have checked there?

Same thing happens to me on CM and Chromatic.

Don't use CM then...?

I guess since Chromatic is a skinned CM5.0.8, the problem would persist, but if its happening with every ROM, my only thought is that it might be the headphone jack itself not working quite right with the ROMs. i know CM6 is supposed to work with the Dream and original Magic. neither of which have a headphone jack. but thats as far as ive gotten in my thinking since i cant code or troubleshoot...

thanks for the infinite wisdom. I've tried using various ROMs. at the moment, there really aren't any MT3G 1.2 ROMs that aren't CM due to the phone's weird radio/board configuration.

I've got the myTouch with the headphone Jack and the only time I run into that problem is if I get a call while listening to music with headphones and unplug them to answer. But even then the music doesn't start playing until I end the call. Try using Advanced Task Killer or going to applications from the settings menu and force stopping the music app.
Sent using Tapatalk.

It looks like the problems are caused by Music Mod. I've tried Mort Player and the HTC Sense player and music doesn't play when I unplug headphones.

Try this ROM with the 32A kernel posted in Cyan's CM6 thread.

[Q] Notification halts music playback

So I've searched using "keywords" and scoured through many similar posts on this issue within the forum and through Google with no luck, so I'm posting this request now.
Is there any way to prevent a new message/text notification sound from halting music playback?
I hook up my phone to the car to blast the music but when I get a text, it stops/halts/pauses the song, plays the notify sound, and then resumes playback.
I don't want to turn off the notifications all the way, I just want to have the notify sound play OVER or ON-TOP of the music playback
The phone is still running just the stock rom, but if you guys suggest an app or rooting, then I will do whatever it takes, thanks!
This is part of MOST phones. My phone does it, the G1 does it, my friends BB does it.
thanks fenixnr....so is there nothing that can be done to correct this on an Android device?
I know in the past I've had Windows Mobile devices with the same issue (Xperia X1) and some of the ROMs I flashed on it corrected the issue while others did not. My HD2 doesn't have this problem and it has a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack too.
Am I the only one who has noticed this
I was hoping someone else would have wanted the same thing resolved.

There is nothing to "resolve" as I am pretty sure that is by design how it should work. I cannot test this now, but try putting your phone into a silent mode when listening to your music... Of course, keep your media volume up for your music.
If memory serves me right I think that cm kanged expresso rom had the feature to play notification out of the speaker when headphones were plugged in. Cm6 might have that feature too. I'm not sure though.

So CyanogenMod-6 might have improved on this? [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118&highlight=kanged]
Sounds exactly like what I was looking for and this is a Froyo build too? Thanks slinky, I'll give it a shot!

honestly if its only a problem when you plug your phone into the car, just put your phone on vibrate or turn the notification off.
Yeah this is honestly the one thing buggin' me right now.
I walk to work it's about a half hour walk to and from and I don't give a damn about my notifications during that time. Hah.

[Solved] G2 goes into USB storage mode when plugged in

At some point after I perma-rooted my G2 and flashing bacon-bits my G2 goes into USB storage mode as soon as it's plugged into a computer.
Also, I don't know if it is related, the volume name is set to a stream of random characters "s2?:9y2% L&". Before it just showed up as a generic volume.
I //really// don't want this behavior because I tend to use adb to put files on my phone.
As to the weird volume label would it be safe to change to something meaningful with my computer or is it set by Android?
Do you have Winamp installed? That has a setting to auto-enable USB storage mode... drove me crazy for a week.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Thank You!
I would never have thought about looking there...
As to the weird volume name, I'm just going to turn my phone off and put the card in a sd-card adapter and see if the weird name shows up, and if it does, I'll just use mlabel to change it to "My G2" or something...
I had the same problem and just figured it out a few days ago myself, lol
Use PowerAMP! It's better IMO.
Yup, both WinAMP and DoubleTwist do this by default. Evil.
this was driving me crazy for the last couple of days!!
It wouldn't be so bad if the software, you know, mentioned at any point that it did this!

Just got PowerAMP. Very nice! I love the audio boost, and swipe control.
I'll have to try PowerAMP.
I actually like WinAMP now that I found the setting to turn auto-mount OFF!
Not that I don't think that they're boneheads for making that the default.
Wow, thanks! I also have both winamp and poweramp and never would have figured that out! Was so not understanding why it was doing this...

Oh wow I remember that WinAmp did this when I installed it initially, but totally forgot about it tonight when I flashed a rom and I was going insane looking for the system option for it. This thread FTW lol

Answered calls going straight to speakerphone!

My phone has been doing this for 2 or 3 days now. When I accept an incoming call, the phone automatically enters speakerphone mode.
When a BT headset is connected, it is fine.
Anyone got a clue why it is doing this? I havenet installed any apps which should have this effect.
RTR
Been looking into this all night, with no luck. Has anyone seen this before?
Not had any calls come in on mine yet so can't comment on whether I am affected. I would have thought it would be well known about though if it was widespread.
Are you using stock rom? Tried re-flashing the RUU?
Had this to you need to make someone call you and keep trying with the button to switch between speaker or ear and eventually i got it right! Hold it against your ear then remove it and try button again thats how i did it!

Same here with that issue ever since those new updates started
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Mine too but it hardly ever does it now. A sensor tries to detect how your phone is positioned and switches to speaker. It seems to go away on the stock rom, so persevere on the stock rom. It all worked out for me eventually. Word of advice though, DISABLE SENSE until it's ready. It makes your contact icons in messages disappear. Htc always releases questionable software which should be described as beta. If you use bluetooth for music, stick with stock for now. Yadda yadda. All in all, the dhd. Rules. Oh ya, anyone know how the htc hd2 rund witb android 2.2. I saw lots of great deals on ebay to buy a broken one and fix tbe software to run android. I just want a new toy really.

I had this for a while - turned out to be an iffy setting in my profile manager/switcher (phoneweaver). Are you using anything like that?
FIXED: Oh my word, how simple was this...
Should have said, I'm on stock everything as I have a poor track record with having to send stuff back to manufacturers to be fixed.
After spending all night looking for a solution, and trying a couple of things found on other forums (install phonespeaker app and turn it off in that - doesn't work BTW), I decided this morning to remove the possibility that the phone had simply got its panties in a bunch, switched it off properly and removed the battery. 10 minutes of being denied a power source has cured it. Most bizarre.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

[Q] Sound does not work after permaroot?

Hi everyone, I've been trying to search around for a way to fix my phone and I have not been able to. I permanently rooted my mytouch 4g with cyanogen 7. Everything was fine except I realized today that none of my sound works. I have music on my phone and it will play if I set it as a ringtone but it wont play in any of the music players I have tried and sound on the internet does not work either.. such as youtube. I've tried hooking up headphones and that does not work as well. Can anyone help? I'm new to rooting phones and may need a noob version of how to fix it. Thank you!
First try rebooting. If that doesn't work I'd wipe the phone completely, and then re-flash CM7 and Gapps.

(HARMON/KARDON)Could be a potential ADSP firmware workaround for S On Users?

ok i have stumbled across something strange
i was having issues all round on almost every rom trying to get this to work and I always had the below error
ISSUE 2. I have HK and everything but when i play mp3 in HTC Music app i hear nothing. HALP!!! you broke my phone
Reason: Happens because you need to update your adsp (Advanced Digital Signal Processor) firmware.
Solution: You should have flashed hk_enable_and_adsp_update_v3.zip but i repeat you need to be S-OFF for this, if you are S-ON afraid you are out of luck

i reinstalled sd 1.3 and thought it may work as it did once before but then reflashed hk and no sound, nothing.
reinstalled sd 1.3 with the sound explosion mod, rebooted, flashed hk again and low and behold, HK was there fully functioning and I had sound also!
HK is working fine as it makes a marked difference to when its turned off and also boom sound, also I have the option to use boomsound when HK is turned off
Has anyone else had this????
this is mega weird as i thought i had to be s off to get around the no sound issue lol!!!
has anyone else encountered this? or have i stumbled upon a potential work around for s on users?
Good to know!

Im using the latest Incsert Coin rom and im currently S-ON also, even though the HK file flashed fine, when playing audio, I dont hear any difference while playing with the HK settings. Im also downloading SD 1.3 now to see how that turns out on my TMobile M8.

In all honesty, you just might not notice it. I might be one of the few but I hear a reeeeallly small difference when I have it on versus off, at least with the speakers that is. When you plug in the headphones and use the headphone features that's when you really notice the effect, even though I don't like any of them. The sound difference isn't as substantial like beats audio with the m7 was

Heres a update to my situation.
After using the HK update with S-On and InsertCoin 2.5, the update install fine in recovery and I have the options in the settings menu.
Toggle the settings ON / OFF didnt do anything... With S-On that is....
Tried installing the SkyDragon rom on my TMobile device and installed the HK mod and again, and this time I didnt even get the on off toggles under settings. So went back to Insert Coin by doing a restore in TWRP.
NEXT which is were the profit comes in....
Took about 10minutes of my time to do the S-Off for my TMobile HTC One M8....
Now im S-OFF, installed the HK mod that requires S-Off, and now when I toggle the HK On and Off under settings, I can actually now hear a difference in the audio as its playing through headphones.
Long story short, it looks like S-Off is required to get the HK audio mod to fully work. S-OFF only takes about 5 to 10 minutes by the way.

congrats man
only issue is i have an m8 that throws up the whelp message with firewater so no chance of s off at the moment. I was just amazed that HK is working for me after flashing on top of sd 1.3 with soundexplosion chosen in aroma.
I'm defo not going nuts (although i had to pinch myself several times lol!!!) HK disables boomsound when selected and makes a huge difference in sound when toggling on/off. also I can use boom sound by toggling HK off and selecting boom sound. This is a wonderful fluke but damn HK is good and I didnt have to wait for s off
must be something in sd 1.3 as i havent been able to do this on any other rom
I played a little bit with the hk mod. I'm also not able to get s off and had initially no sound. However I flashed zeros soundmod, afterwards the hk zip for s on users. N7 player and mp3 playback were working fine. However shuttle was not working and this is my main player. So out of desperation I installed v4a.
And guess what. I played a mp3 with shuttle, activated in the very first checkbox v4a processing and playback was suddenly working. You can deactivate v4a afterwards it will still function. The same goes for stock music player.
Try it out! if it works for you I'll open a thread.
Maybe update the op with it and also do write something in the op about working status or something
Edit : oh and I'm on arhd

Yea that part with n7player and project era sound mod was my workaround which I all let you know then
I'm on viper and tried shuttle too but it worked without any problems with k/h and zeros mod no need for v4a or so...hmm

I know, I did it based on your suggestion but with shuttle it did not work and I needed v4a. Thanks for your tip!
Maybe it's rom dependant, viper has some custom closed source audio stuff in it. That could be the reason. I'm on arhd.
