My phone keeps asking for a wifi connection to upload videos to facebook or youtube. Actually there is no direct option to upload to facebook without actually logging in to the facebook site on the browser and uploading it there. Any suggestions? am I missing something?
Maybe because 3G has a chance of drooping signal unlike wifi, wifi most of the time is faster. Thats what I tell myself well the time

if i use the facebook app, twitter or email my internet connection is fine.
If i try to use other apps like browser, ebay app etc i get no connection to the net, just waits and waits and then times out.
have i missed something in the settings?
anyone please?
Similar to my post about the market, I live in an area with very fast data speeds, consistently over 3Meg. Am i the only one with facebook taking forever to load pages/selections. It tends to freeze for about 5 seconds or so before it processes my input
Anyone else or any suggestions?
Same thing happens to me. I've all but stopped using the Facebook App. I just use the mobile site via the web browser.
The only benefit I find from using the Facebook app instead of the browser is the picture uploading integration.

I have a problem with facebook photos upload.
When i click on share on fackbook. The message box show
pictures are not upload...
I have sign in facebook on my phone already. But no live accounts.
Or i need live account active first?
Thank
the same problem persists for me.i even have my phone activated and have a working live ID.
maybe no one, can answer us?
well the function does work as im using it without bother, so it is either a carrier issue, facebook issue or something not setup on your phone right.
assuming you have internet access without the USB cable attached or wifi on then you can rule out carrier, facebook issues would need another phone to try, but its unlikely it would be persistant, more likely a temp glitch that should fix its self in a hour or so.
that leaves phone issues
again, assuming you have internet on your phone, id try removing that facebook pish app from the market, then remove your link to facebook on your phone, hold push to get delete option. restart and then relink your facebook account.
Next see if you have access to facebook details on your phone, friends, news wall etc, again do this without wifi or USB, use your carrier. Finally try uploading a small low quality pic and see what happens

I'm having the same issue right now. Happened when I switched roms. Tried unlinking Facebook and restarting phone but still won't work. Worked perfectly before. Also won't show my Facebook albums in my pic albums anymore. Any other ideas?

Did you just restart your phone or was it a hard reset? I tried unlinking and restarting my phone, but it didn't help.
Gotta bump this up again, would really like to find a solution to this.
After 2 years with trusty Nokia N8 I took delivery of an S3 with ICS on T-mobile here in UK yesterday with 750mb monthly data plan, more than I have ever used before on the Nokia.
I spend much of yesterday downloading Android updates and Apps on my home wifi, no problem.
This morning on 3G i get the warning I have reached my 750mb limit... in 24 hours!
The culprits are background data downloads by Opera Browser (Turbo Mode) 351mb and Android OS background 301 mb.
I have no idea what is going on especially the Opera Browser as I had only browsed a few pages.
Could somebody help me please to identify what might be going on. My first 24 hours with the lovely S3 is turning into a nightmare!
Thanks.
Does the Opera browser try to cache future web pages you may visit in turbo mode, thus using your monthly data?

Do you have background data on?

Remove that opera, and limit the playstore to wifi only in the playstore settings.
Turn the data limit option on and set it to x MB per day / month to control it.
Did the data usage so on the phone give you the warning or did it come from your service provider?
Sometimes i transfer things with samba through wifi to my pc, and my phone reads it as data usage.

You can't. Only monthly.

Use some guys apps from the play store like traffic data, etc for daily limiting

Check opera settings and check if it's trying to cache webpages on mobile data, and for the AndroidOS settings, disable sync for your google account and just sync it when you are at home manually, also check other sync settings, see if they are seen as "AndroidOS" not the app also disable Samsung account sync.
And on a limited plan be sure the mobile data limit is set to make sure there are no unexpected fees.
And finally, on the data usage page press the menu capacitive button and check "restrict background data" this will ensure there is no data being transfered in the background unless you are on WiFi, for example your google account will not sync out and about, but it will once you connect to WiFi.
thank you for all these quick responses. To answer questions. I have since switched off background data as soon as i found out. T mobile website not yet able to show my usage to see if phone mistook wifi use for 3g. Opera turbo is supposed to shrink data before it gets to phone. It shrunk 1.7gb to 244mb goodness knows why so much. I was just browsing help forums. Is gt normal for 301mb of android os background to go on on day two ofowning phone?many thanks. My usage from 14th Oct to today (so 2 days) is 198MB, which is including everything, background data is about 56.66MB, that includes Android OS, dropbox, skype and a few more apps.
Depending on the apps installed you could see some huge background data numbers. As for your browser I would swap Opera for Firefox or chrome, chrome for me has used 150KB background data for me and caching websites is only done over wifi by default.
Dont know if you're using Picassa as well? I've heard this can also be one of the culprits when syncing...
I dont use it myself so dont know..
Lol, sync Picasa album should be the culprit, turn it off
《swagged from aokp》
on my i9305 i havent set any limits and only used 771mb in 10 days. and ive used the phone for updates etc
picasa raped me once.
just restricted its use to wifi.
luckily for you (and me!) T-Mobile don't charge anything if you go over limit and they still let you browse, email, facebook, tweet etc. only restrict streaming videos!

Hmm restricting streaming videos would be a bad thing for me, love watching youtube on the bus lol
Many thanks for prompt replies. I have taken on board all replies to avoid this again. No more opera or background update on 3g. Thanks very much
Never started thread before but wanted to warn Google + users that the app will upload pics BY DEFAULT. Just been hit with £300 bill for just a few days on holiday in USA. I had a 25mb/day limit and found G+ had consumed 111mb which is more than all the other apps combined! So be warned.

Actually its not by default when you first sign into the app it give you the option to turn off instant upload, set it to instant upload on just wifi or on wifi and mobile.
But it is a good point to remember when going on holiday or planning on taking alot of pictures to make sure this (and dropboxs similar feature) are turned off

True but you should have to opt in not opt out. I'm using Droidwall now to stop all those data hungry apps
always use wifi

AW: Google + = huge roaming data charge
I use LBE to control internet access of certain very data intensive apps, among them are dropbox, skydrive, youtube... For those apps access to the internet is granted as long as there is a wifi connection. But as soon as the apps want to access the internet through the mobile network LBE asks me whether to grant access or not. This way I have never experienced any unpleasent surprises.
