StatusBar/Framework Theme Manager
Android/Cyanogen really needs a better way to handle themes, like Desire HD or Z would be ideal. Themes would be in APK form and have a drawable-hdpi & drawable folders with the framework graphics you want to replace. I have really no coding skill, I was looking on Anderwebs Github trying to see how his themes work. How do I change/intercept where the framework looks for drawables? This is way over my head but I'm trying, at least I'll learn a few things. Anyway if someone with more experience would be willing to help that would be awesome!
I know that applying zips or metamorphs is not that hard to do. But this would make so many things better, like having time to add to themes instead of updates. Not having to apply each update or better yet each night if your a nightly guy like myself. Nightly themes are rare, metamorph is really the only way due to things changing constantly. Bottom line, I think this would be a badass addition to any custom ROM!
Let me know what you guys think? Better yet if you can contribute let's get this show on the road 8)
Here is a video of the new Sense Themes in action - http://goo.gl/mJT7
That would be very nice. I wish i could help. I hope that someone can make that soon. Good luck with it.

Hi,
A new challenge for our developers.
This is a theme taken from one of the pointui forum thread.
It is a really beutiful theme, somebody should make a tob bar like that on the picture. It is masterpeice in itself.
Hope somebody should consider developing it.
dont u all like this theme....
i have something similar on the way... but it will require WAD.
That is a awesome theme. I would like an update on any development. I would like to try it out a.s.a.p.
ok let it come...
But it would be great if someone make a stand alone application.
hi all,
in a few days (waiting for wirefly shipping), i'll be an incredible owner. i've done quite a bit of research on the phone up to this point, including coming across this forum and seeing that it was among the most active and informative on the net.
i have an extensive windows skinning/modding background, having been active in the scene for almost 10 years now. i am a moderator at the now mostly defunct customize.org and also at the newer, more active pixelfuckers.org, a site that was started by some of the elite desktop modders in the world as a playground and showcase for our work. my windows screenshots and skins have been very well received by the community and have even won a few contests. i've even had a couple of shots featured on lifehacker.com. i also have a good deal of graphic design and photography/post processing experience.
what i'm getting at here is that i will most certainly be looking to mod the living hell out of my incredible when it finally arrives and i'm looking for the best way to do so. i know of apps like launcher pro and adw launcher and will certainly be utilizing them. i'm also familiar with some of the roms that are available, like cyanogen, and roughly what extra capabilities they give the user as far as customization goes. lastly, i've browsed the incredible screenshot thread and have seen
my questions are as follows :
can i do a fair amount of visual customization without rooting?
what are some free apps that are skinnable and help in visual customization?
thanks in advance everyone.
as a final thought for now, i intend to start making android-sized versions of my popular desktop wallpaper series, 'photowalls', so keep a look out for those in the near future. if you'd like links to any of my work (being a new user, i can't put them in this post), don't hesitate to ask.

Definitely use Launcher Pro, you can choose what icons to use for applications you place on your homescreens, as well as hide apps in the app drawer.
You can also use BetterCut or Folder Organizer to change the icons on folders, all without root.
I'm not sure if you can get access to /system/app without rooting (I'm pretty sure you can't), but if it turns out you can, you can use ADB to replace the apk's with modified ones posted on this forum.
As far as skinnable widgets, I know Beautiful Widgets has a lot of skins available for it, but beyond that I haven't really looked. Hope this helps.
Welcome to the forums. Can't wait to see your work. Rooting is easy. Lots of roms. Great community. Glad to see you here.

thanks for the tips zoon, i'll check that thread out some time.
as far as the wallpapers go, i know the formula for resolution is 1x height and 2x width, making the dinc one 960x800. is there another resolution that's overly common that i should include in the packs? i'll probably throw an iphone-sized one in there too, just to maximize the number of downloads.
also, if anyone out there is looking to collab on a theme/widget design (you do the coding, i do the graphics), i'd definitely be up for it.
I will take you up on that sometime in the future if you don't mind. Im still getting the video cam and bluetooth working. But after that i was going to start themeing/modding.

posted a couple screenshots of what i have so far here.
i still want to look into some modified .apk's that have been posted here...could anyone point me in that direction?

hah, have we met?
No. it just felt right to say.
Hey guys
I want to get a custom theme made and after that, a custom rom of the theme with additional features.
I want it to look really sleek and nice with nearly everything customized. From icons to menu layout...
In rom i just want some additional features like different lockscreen(rotational or glass), crt off and simple stuff like that.
The job is quite big. If you are just a coder but want to do the job i can get another person to design. But you must tell me exactly what to be designed.
Prices.
Coder only - $150
Coder + designer - $220
The payment will be made via paypal.. And will be made after the theme is made and coded. And then you can make the rom..
This is a big job and the person must be dedicated. The time limit will be 1week for theme and 1week for rom.
PLEASE ALSO PROVIDE SOME EXAMPLES OF YOUR PREVIOUS WORK.
Reply if you are interested.
If i posted in the wrong section, please forgive me and moderators can move thread.

This may sound odd.. but it popped up in my head while driving home.
I have been messing around a lot lately with theming, and also playing with the UOT Kitchen... This got me thinking for us less "able" members here..
Is it ethically okay to use someone elses rom (Ie- CM7) as a baseband... and theme it to your liking? then add in the app's you like and whatever you might like in the package and upload it as a different "rom"?
Thanks, and sorry for the odd question
There's a specific post approaching this issue, see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317929
PS: If you want to theme CM7, the best way to do so is with a theme chooser theme No need to re-release roms or anything, just post your theme apk for people to download.

as long as you quote your sources (let everyone know that you used CM7 as a base, and who created all the apps you put in there, etc. etc.) then it's perfectly fine. just be sure to quote every single source you used.
also, don't make it the habit of just releasing themed versions of CM7 or the dev forum will get full of the same ROM with a different look. i'm pretty sure that's the whole reason CM7 comes with a theme engine that makes theming it super easy.
but on the note of your question, just be sure to give credit where credit is due and no one should have a problem with it.
Wow- That stinks... Wish I would have realized that thread pertained to my question.. Sorry about that.
& regarding my theme- It's such a half assed bork job that I'd be embarrassed to post it... Let me do a couple more run's and I hope to have something nice brewed up for you guys
Thank you, and sorry again.
Also- I wasent really thinking to use CM7 Specifically.. I was just using it as an example.
damn, theming is fun! It's a lot of redundant stuff... but fun!
I would like to know how to create a theme for the V20/G5, how would I do this?
I cannot seem to find any way to do it, I know it can be done, other people have made themes.
Is there some software I need? If so does it run on Linux, or Windows 10?
Could I de-compile the default LG theme?
Bump
Wondering if you have found a way just got my v20 about a month ago so I am late to the party.
Thanks for any info in advace.
Bumping this up as well. I see there are just a handful of theme creators for LG V20, and one of them was asking about it before somehow stumbling upon the pot of gold. I'm looking to theme my own icons simply because there's no themes out there like that. Any hints would be great!
And it does seem like google yields no results for this too. Time to dive into the dark web.
