[SOLVED] iexplore.exe automatically starts on boot - Windows Mobile

Does anyone else get this?
On every boot, my custom ROM (COM2 and 3) starts iexplore.exe with the link "http://-s/".
I have to kill it every time on bootup.
What could be causing this?
Thanks in advance!
SOLUTION: RunCC had the line PreluanchPIE, that needed to be removed...

Have you checked your startup folder, or the launch keys in HKLM\init (or bootlauncher keys)?

The startup I checked, but the init not. Thanks for the tip!

STK returns to program folder after every soft reset

After every softreset the link to the Sim Toolkit is recreated in the startmenu -> programs folder. This is really annoying as I just don't use this program. Is there any way maybe in the registry to prevent it from being created? I am using the newest official T-Mobile GER ROM but i already had this problem with the first ROM that was installed.
I have the same problem!
i want to disable the stk menu from WM5
Did anyone tell me how to do?
Ok, I got an idea. Might sound stupid and is not the most ellegant solution but it will work: Why don't we put together a little program that deletes the shortcut and we put this program in the startup folder? This way the icon won't reappear after each soft-reset.
Can anybody here do this for me? Just a simple little program to delete the file. The one which needs to be deleted is:
\\Windows\Startmenü\Programme\Special.lnk
Thank you so much!
there is no stk.lnk shortcut in my windows\startup folder
but my stk menu is automatic start! why?
Hi there,
I'm having the same problem, in that there is a link to the STK appearing in my programs folder on each reset. I have tried deleting and moving the icon, setting it to 'hidden', and altering the registry setting (\\Windows\Startmenu\Programmes\O2.lnk (it's slightly different to the example in an above post, but it does link to STK)) to place it in a sub-folder called Phone (i.e. \\Windows\Startmenu\Programmes\Phone\O2.lnk), but on each reset my changes are removed.
Has anyone got any ideas how to permanently remove this - or at least how it is being recreated each reset? Is it installed as part of the O2 Active software?
Cheers all
Rory

[WM6.5] Launch "Settings" and "Start Menu" from shortcut

just like to share with you how with those who need a command line for
"Settings" aka "Control Panel" and for
"Programs List" aka "Start Menu"
there have been apps like "control.exe" and "folderview.exe" which did the same but on my device (and os) it is not working anymore.
however, you need mortscript:
to launch "Settings" execute this command:
Code:
Show(FindWindow( "Settings", complete, yes, no, no, "MSSTARTMENU" ))
to launch "Start Menu" simply execute this command:
Code:
SendWin
i am sure it will be of help for those who create their own UI
Add this:
Launch "Programs":
Code:
Show("Pograms")
Launch "Settings" for WM5/6.0/6.1
Code:
Show(FindWindow( "", complete, yes, no, no, "Dialog" ))
Launch "Settings" for WM6.5
Why not use
Code:
Show("Settings")
since this window has a valid title.
is it possible to use the above command lines in an lnk file?

... because mortscript tries to find the "best" fitting window for your criteria. if you just provide "Settings" mortscript might also find another window named Settings.
but you are right it is not mandatory - just regard the other parameters as additional.

yes it is. just write path and name of the .mscr file in your .lnk file - just as you would do with .exe files
Can U guys please provide ready mortscript or lnk to launch Seetings in wm 6.1 ? I would be very gratefull ! Because i get confused what shall i do ... Thankx a lot !

i do not know if the above code really works on wm6.1
but i warmly recommend to install total commander which can do all for you:
you can create a file, rename it to <name>.mscr
add the above script line - save and close
double tab on the script and it is being executed
if it works, control panel will appear
to create a shortcut: there is also a menu for creating shortcuts

really works as i can't test it myself. if problems appear post here again and you'll be helped
however, you need v4.3 which is beta (but works perfectly stable). here. that's why you get error messages.
Show("Settings") worked
I've been looking for a way to re-start the 6.5 start menu for a few weeks now. I've been using Magic Button, and even when I put the start menu on the MB exclusive list, it still kills it occasionally when exiting. The 'sendwin' morscript doesn't revive it. Any ideas on a command that would? Thanks.

hm. not sure what the problem exactly is.
what do you mean by re-start start menu?
Well, with magic button you can actually kill the start menu. I believe it's part of a service, but haven't been able to track it down. For instance, I've used sk tools to save the list of running services, killed the start menu, then looked at the services and not seen any obvious changes (the same goes with processes). When the start menu is dead, it won't open up at all. I'd like to find out how to get it going again without resetting.

check it with dotfred's taskmanager and browse through the windows.
probably magic button closes this window.
Maybe the HoneyComb is shell32.exe, can you confirm?
And what is other side-effects without honeycomb?
Edit: I'm on the reverse side, want to kill it ! Just no device to test it ATM, but eager to know, also several weeks looking for this.
Just install magic button, it kills all!
Thanks Farmer Ted for the info, another lite tool added to my suitcase: MagicButton.
Just still curious to know what is exactly the WM6.5 Start Menu. (Edit: Check this tread for the start menu close issue.)

Keep wifi connection alive in standby

Hi
This is work but afther soft reset system replace it:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
Any ideas how to fix it, beouse MSN and other programs start to use 3G when phone is standby.
my device keeps WiFi on even in standby out of the box. it will only shut WiFi off when I manually turn it off. it came like this out of the box.
Exactly the same for me, anyone?
I have a T-Mobile HD2 and as default wifi isn't active during standby. The registry key works but a soft reset will revert it to '0', so I wrote the following simple Mortscript and placed a shortcut to it in the /Windows/Startup folder (place the file on your device and using the file explorer copy and 'paste shortcut' into the startup folder). It works well.
You will of course need to install Mortscript for this to work.
yippee wifi stays connected
my htc hd2 outta the box stayed connected to wifi until i told it to disconnect, after installing a few programs and tweaking the reg etc and after a hard reset i noticed this wouldnt stay connected, annoying!
thanks for this little tweak you have, it works great and the only thing have found to work properly.
regards
No problem, I use it constantly and will until a ROM incorporates a fix.

Working nicely. Many thanks. Much better than the other Mortscript solution "Don'tSleep" which still drains battery because screen is on while connected.
No problem. I didn't come across the other mortscript fix and the wifi switching off was doing my head in. Glad there's a simple registry key.
Thank yo for this script profahmad.
Wich folder you mean exactly? I dont found on my System Startup (it is a german device).
Mean you AutoStart?
Best regards Theo
Copy the file to any location on your phone or storage card, then using the file explorer highlight it and select 'copy', then navigate to /Windows/Startup and paste shortcut (not simply 'paste').
Am I missing the point: is the /Windows/Startup folder not showing on your device?
Thanks for creating and sharing this script. It works great if I simply run it after startup, but for some reason it is not executing automatically on startup. I followed your instructions and have a shortcut to the script (which I stuck in My Documents) in /Windows/Startup. I installed MortScript to my device as well. I have an ATT Tilt 2. Is there something more I need to do, perhaps with MortScript, to get the script to run at startup?

Disregard - appears to be user error. Works great
Can I just make sure I've got this right? You install the MortScript cab file, which then appears in the Start menu, yes? Then, is it the little Wifi zip file you have to create a shortcut to, and do you have to unzip it first?

Yeah, install Mortscript for the functionality but you won't need to do anything with it after that. Unzip the wifi script anywhere on the device and place the shortcut in the startup folder.
That's what I did and kept getting an error message on boot up, something like, "The file 'Mortscript' cannot be opened. Either the app is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one or more components cannot be found."
Hmm. Install BSB Tweaks and enable Allow unsigned applications.
That worked, thanks. Now I have to see if it kills my battery.

You may need to add a depend key for the app, and make sure it launches after everything else. If there's too much stuff going on during startup when it's trying to launch, perhaps there isn't enough available memory to get it going. Just look at the other depend keys; basically, I think you just want to list all of the processes launched in the init queue. You could also increase the delay time between launches (this might work better w/ the startup folder) from 5 seconds to 6 or 7.

[SOLVED] Setting time to 24 hour by default on first boot

Both backgrounds are set in their corresponding *.cpr file(s). You can either change it there and re-direct it to your image or simply rename your image and over-write the stock WM image.

I'm sorry, I miss understood what you were looking for originally. Are you trying to set a wallpaper for the first boot? If so, I simply just save my wallpaper as a .gif and name it "Default_stwater_480_800.gif" this will vary depending or device resolution.
As far as the clock settings not sticking, make sure that your reg isn't being over-written later in the cooking process.
Edit:
Thanks Poy, I forgot about "ITime"=dword:00000001

You were close with the filename. I found out it was HTC_stwater_480_800.jpg. Once I changed that it then set the default background for me. I simply created an ext package and added the new wallpaper with the same name into a files folder and then set the app.dat file to copy it to the windows directory.
Still working setting the time to 24h

You also can customize (Don´t remember if Titanium or Start Menu´s background) overwritting files "Default_stwater_480_800.gif" & "Default_stwater_800_480.gif" (depends of resolution).
Is not necessary add an app.dat to the package, because all archives inside "files" folder go to windows folder. If you want a copy of these archives in other folders, then you can set app.dat
Greetings
Grand,
Got start menu background working. Now just looking to set the time to 24 hour format. If I make the changes suggested above after I flash the rom it changes, but If I cook reg changes into the rom and flash it stays at 12 hour.
Something must be overwriting your time settings either later in the cooking process or a provxml. OSB has the ability to preview reg, but I am not sure about OSK (it's just been too long)
manila world clock has the option to change time format 24h/12h so maybe something has to be also changed there ...
I think you could be right. There is definitly something on the initial startup is overriding the cooked registery keys.
try cooking without adding any keys to nls, make your changes in regional settings (winmo-settings) and then export complete nls-key, using it in your kitchen next time.
according to osbuilder, nothing in nls-key is set via provxml, only by boot.rgu and the rgu from base_lang_0xxx (in sys). adding your own reg later in cooking-process should overwrite them just fine.
the important part during 1st boot is LCID (=region), which also defines a standard timeformat for the region.

the stuff in \overrides shouldn't be necessary. i set my region to english (uk) and here is what i get:
Code:

"DefaultLCID"=dword:00000809

"SystemLCID"=dword:00000409
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides]
"LCID"=dword:00000809
"SSDte"="dd.MM.yyyy"
this gives me 24hr-clock and the crazy date-format you guys use on your island.
while playing with this i noticed that region-settings in manila add lot's of keys in \overrides, while winmo-settings does it's stuff in \nls (except the LCID in overrides).
(nevermind the "SSDte", that key i use for setting date-format on lockscreen.)
