[Q] [NEWBIE] New HTC Sense in .APK ??? - Desire Themes and Apps

Good Morning.
I'm a new user of this forum and of the HTC Desire.
I really like ADAMG - OpenDesire Roms (stable, up to date...) but I really like the New SENSE (From DesireHD)...
Is it possible to get this interface in a package to install on another ROM ?
Best Regards

That is what the devs are working on at the moment. There is no stable port of HD roms as of now. The camera doesn't work yet. We would have to wait till the device gets released or the HD rom gets leaked.
There are few HD roms already for Desire but camera is not working.

No it's impossible. A Sense rom comes from HTC only, and they are modified by users and that's it. You can't add Sense to a non-Sense rom.

the above poster is partially right, there is so much more to sence than just an .apk, for starters, sence needs the whole htc framework, it also uses several apps that are modified from the stock android apps. although i do beleve sence can be ported as devs have ported both our sence and the desire hd's sence to the droid x

[Q] [REQ] Flashable HTC Sense that can be added to Openfire / Cyanogenmod

Can anyone help?
As the title says - I'd really like help from you talented developers -
I love Wildpuzzle Rom. Love it to death. However - I can't (currently) get it to work w overclocking - I have one of the phones out there that only work w Jacob's kernel 4.1 - and none prior to that - and danne_jo's version of that kernel unfortunately just makes my phone restart at htc splashscreen all the time...
So I have 2 choices - either wait for danne_jo to somehow / sometime fix that kernel -
or....
change to cyanogenmod or openfire...
NOW. I am desperate to have HTC Sense in my phone. It's a must. Can't use the vanilla stuff, can't seem to get used to them, miss HTC Weather, Contacts, Dialer, Clock, list goes on forever.
So can anyone helpout here - PLEASE - do a flashable HTC Sense package that will work with Openfire or Cyanogenmod - or preferrably both.
My gratitude goes out to you people for your great work so far - and your possible help on this.
And danne_jo if you see this - I miss my Wildpuzzle a lot. Please try to make Jacob's 4.1 kernel work on Wildpuzzle (Froyo Version). It works on every other system but Wildpuzzle on my phone!
Thanks for your time!
+1 to that...
And if possible add flash support with that

If only Jacob's kernel works, then flash it to Wildpuzzle. It is fully compatible and is available standalone from Jacob's topic.
As for Sense, it's highly unlikely. At some point in the past there was a version of sense available for Cyanogen. However, in efforts to make the mod wholly legal, all components were removed. As far as I am aware, it would take extensive work and knowledge of the Sense UI code to build it into any ROM with an AOSP base.
If what you miss are the home screens and dialer, I suggest looking to LauncherPro and beautiful widgets, along with some of the custom dialers that exist.
I'd like to see this taken a step further honestly. A plain ROM with the 4.1 kernal, a pack to add the HTC apps (like there is for the Google stuff), etc. That way, one version of a ROM can be tailored to suit everyone interested in trying out of the growing user created ROM's.
I would if it worked. Both the one found on Jacob's kernel thread - and the one specifically made for Wildpuzzle by danne_jo causes bootloop on HTC Splashscreen. Why I have no clue. The one found in Jacob's thread works a treat on both Cyano and Open - only Wildpuzzle won't work.
And no, I'm looking for the whole Sense thing - except a few apk's that I can remove later...I MUST have HTC Contact above all, then Weather, Clock, and a few more...
Why is there no Stock Sense Froyo -
IF I figured out the howto's I'd do a Sense Rom based on Chinese Froyo - adding Sense from Stock 2.1 - w all the Chinese junk removed, Rom Manager, Root Explorer, Linpack, Setcpu, Superuser, Busybox added. Rooted, Deodexed (whatever that is), and OC'd w Jacob's 4.1 kernel.
Why has noone done that rom as of yet? I very much doubt I'm the only one who'd like such a rom.
And WHY oh Why won't Jacob's 4.1 kernel work on Wildpuzzle!

for htc sense ui lover like me
CM + htc sense = SUPERB
wildpuzzle + HCDR.jacob kernel 4.1 + (no freezing) = best alternative

Kernel works in wildpuzzle eclair
Sent from CM6 on my HTC Wildfire
It may, I've never tried - and would rather not as I would like to keep the froyo speeds...
So basically what you're saying Jacob, is that your 4.1 kernel doesn't work w Froyo version of Sense? Not Wildpuzzle nor anything else? Am I correct? If Yes - any clue on why - and any plans of doing something against that? Same problem as before tho, won't give us an ADB as freezes/restarts before it connects...always on the HTC Splashscreen...
Any clue Jacob?

It won't work for me with WP Eclair. I lose wifi connection.
Not tried WP Froyo since the first release of it as I need the contacts shown and want the weather location to work.
Not for those of us w more bad blocks i'm afraid...
I would really love it to but it won't - gives me the same error that all the older OC kernels did w everything... - restart/freeze on htc splash screen so I can't even get an adb logcat...
but only on Froyo Wildpuzzle - works on Wildpuzzle Eclair (which I am now temporarily using, until Wildpuzzle Froyo is made to work) as well as Cyanogenmod and Openfire perfectly

[Request] Desire HD theme ports for HTC Desire

I am aware that someone did port music lover, but I believe it to be for an older (incompatible for me) ROM base. Has anyone ported any of these kind of themes to a 2.29.405.2 base? If not then can anyone port the Music lover or Slate theme?
Thanks in advance,
~Matty Matt

How can you port them? Wouldn't you need the skin functionality to be built in to the rom like in sense 2? And therefore, need to be using a custom HD desire port rom with sense 2 t, which have the skins built in anyway?
Allow me to show you what i meant
Check
AuraxTSense v8.4 Rom
That's closest to what you are looking.
(Themed rom. Not just theme. But fast, stable and good one).
Prevs are from old version. 8.4 is just from your example.
Hope it helps?!
i agree. i also saw some themes which were ported from DHD to Desire. But they dont work on newer rom versions. It would be great to see them here.....

Do you use some special theme with it or stock cm7 theme?
Is cm7 ready for prime time? Any wired boots?
Use any Z sense or DHD Sense ROM from the Desire ROM section and apply any DHD/Desire Z themes for the newer Sense.
For the themes to work on older versions of Sense they require a port like Matt originally linked to.
So all in all if you want to use DHD themes, use a ROM with the newer Sense version and then just apply themes from DHD forums. They'll work fine.

LOL No what i meant was, I have no need for these themes as I am using CM7. It's very stable, lots of Gingerbreaddy goodness as long as you do exactly as the included tut tells you, you should have no problems!

new lockscreen in sense 3.0

Hello,
is it possible to install the lockscreen from sense 3.0 with the weather and the shortcut apps on aonther rom? like for example the new gingerbread rom (rooted one)
Thnx
There are a few roms available that are based on sense 2.1 but have sense 3 apps and widgets. Including the lockscreen.
I would imagine that there will be similar roms available that are based on the gingerbread DZ release but with sense 3.0 goodies coming out in the next few weeks. Just give it time.
But it is not possible to just install the lockscreen. Not very easily anyway. I'd imagine it has something to do with frameworks

Yea the fact that you would be pulling the sense lockscreen and trying to apply it to an AOSP base would probably mess things up.

You can install it on the sense 2.1 based roms, like the new desire z release.
Apply the lockscreen and 2 required weather patches from Seo's thread, and then the rotating rosie + menu fix from Siulmagics insertcoin thread.
All works for me.

[Q] Which ver. of HTC Sense works well with G2 ver. 2.3.4?

Are the bugs fixed already? Or is there a custom UI that works better?

Not sure what you're asking... Are you looking for the "best" 2.3.4 HTC Sense build? HTC Sense isn't something you add ontop of any G2 ROM, if you want Sense, its going to be a 2.3.4 Sense Desire Z ROM you want...
As mentioned, Sense is part of the ROM, you can't install it alongside your present ROM. You have to flash a ROM that has Sense, and it will completely overwrite your present ROM. So your present ROM Android version doesn't matter.
"Works well" is subjective. Sense 2.x is faster and less memory intensive. Sense 3.0 (Virtuous Unity) works very well, and has some great features. But it takes lots of memory, so sometimes the launcher and other memory hungry apps will fight for the available memory, and boot each other out. But apparently, there are tweaks to improve this (which I haven't personally tried). There are also hybrids of 2.x and 3.0, like InsertCoin.
Thank you very much for the replies. So, how and where do I get the 2.3.4 Sense Desire Z ROM? And how do I install it? I read somewhere that there's some glitch on some ROM like the landscape or WiFi or Bluetooth doesn't work. Is this ROM affected? I'm sorry about the 21Q guys but I'm really a noob.
You can try virtuous sense 2.0. Built based on stock sense 2.3.4 with a few tweaks and improvements

Ok guys, so I found this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186458 and downloaded myVision, Cyanogen's development tools and Cyanogen DSPManager. What do I do with the 2 Cyanogen files? I know I have to transfer myVision from my PC to the root of my phone's SD card and do the Power and Volume Up thing to boot.
I really like how the phone looks on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XfYD8rUTE0. Will this work with ver. 2.3.4? Or do I have to downgrade first?

If i use Sensation ROM, it will be a 2.3 version. I had tried that one ( but not the sensation ROM), but it seems slower than 2.2 on my HD2.
Can I use only the weather widget ?
IF no and the only chance is use the sensation ROM, What ROM will you suggest ?
thanks,
Ronald
This one is also 2.3 but is working pretty well , if it helps, pls check out the thread :-
