After playing with android, winmo apps no longer work. Apps like GoogleMaps, Kalxon etc (somethings i use every day) fail to open with "The file <appname> cannot be opened. It is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Cannot reinstall the apps, it always says installation unsuccessful.
I have reformated sd card, did a soft reset, battery pull etc.
This is on a stock TMOUS 2.13.531.1 ROM with 2.10.50.26 radio.
Any ideas ?
Thx

hard reset your phone

Probably some android files or folders have same names as Winmo and may have overwritten them on your SD
Did you try to uninstall to broken apps first, then reinstall.
I have not encountered this problem so i do not know of a solution. But, I cannot see why the apps would no longer work. Running android is kinda like running an app. But all is held on SD card.
If they were installed on your SD card then they could have been corrupted or you could have accidentally deleted some of their components.
Hard reset is the only solution for this, I think. It happened to me when I was testing Andorid on HTC Touch Pro....
I had it a month ago. Hard reset of Windows Mobile solved it, nothing else worked.

soft reset solved the issue for me back in the day... ow im full android OS so I forgot how WinMo looks like

Hi guys, got my TP2 about a week ago but having trouble installing anything. The facebook app installed no problem but since then I can't get anything to install. I have 200mb of space left so that shouldn't be an issue. I have tried via active sync and sending a .cab to the phone but nada.
When using a .cab I navigate to it using file explorer and select it but nothing happens at all. With active sync it tries to install, but when I check the phone it hasn't.
Any ideas?
(The apps I'm trying a pocketwitter, skyfire, skype)
Cheers.
If you've only recently got it and so havent loaded it up with stuff, try hard resetting it (or use clear storage in settings) to start again, and see if the facebook install was the problem.
If you only have only the one app installed you have nothing to lose from trying it, and it may fix the issue.
If after reinstalling the facebook app it then prevents you from installing any more, I would suspect the app or it's install is faulty, and screwing up the device: do another hard reset & maybe try downloading a fresh copy/another version etc.
Assuming you have your contacts & appointments backed up via Activesync it wont take long to restore them.
hope this helps

I have rooted my girlfriends phone and have yet formatted the SD card for the "Apps2SD". So far the phone is been working good with the modaco 1.1 ROM but for some reason she was on her phone today and it made her force close the apps she was using and some others things and deleted all of her SMS messages. Im not sure what happen? I am new to the android world and just trying to fix the issue before it continues and gets worse
Really depends on what's going on. There are known issues with downloading too many apps and while you have Apps2sd I'm not sure if that's what's going on here as someone over at ppc geeks (thacounty I think) had mentioned that he has his rooted and is running Modaco and Apps2sd and had around 60 apps installed and after a soft reset everything force closes.
This is an issue HTC & Sprint are in the process of fixing (issue with apps & memory that is) and it may solve the issue she's having but for now I'd try to delete some apps if this continues after doing a soft reset and if all else fails do a hard reset (hope you have a nandroid backup made before the issue started).
Maybe someone else can chime in but that's the first thing that comes to my mind.
Hi all!
Quite the n00b at this forum, so bare with me. I've tried to search for a solution to my problem, but haven't been able to find any.
My problem started with me having several app crashes, even those native to the phone like the Market app. I guess it happened after I installed several apps, and also a couple of launchers (ADW and LauncherPro). I decided to uninstall several apps to see if I could get the system running without any more apps crashing when using them. What happened though was that the apps I uninstalled just appeared again after doing a reset of the phone... I've tried it several times, and can't seem to get rid of neither the apps nor the launchers.
After this I thought doing a hard reset might solve the issue, but no go. I got an errormsg in the reset, and when the phone started again, all of my data (contacts, sms and such) was deleted, but most apps, and those launchers, was still there.
Would have posted a picture of it, but since I'm "new", I'm not allowed. The msg was:
multicsc : can not acces to /system/csc/XEE/system/
I don't know if the error is related to the uninstalling problem at all though..
What to do?
Have you tried all ways of uninstalling?
Market/ File Manager/ Managing Applications / Edit Menu?
If not sounds like a factory reset may be in order :/ Or even worse you have to format your SD card as a lot of app data gets saved onto it.
I've tried the factory reset as I also wrote, perhaps I shouldn't have called it a "hard reset"
I guess I can try to format the SD card, perhaps the problem lies with the card. Seems strange though that I don't get an error when trying to uninstall the apps from the "Manage applications" menu..
How can i uninstall via File Manager?
Update: Formating SD card did nothing..
No one got any clue? I just got the phone a couple of days ago, and its quite frustrating not being able to use it properly.
Yet another update: Seems I can't delete _anything_ on the phones internal memory, it just pops up again after doing a restart of the phone. I've even connected it to my PC and deleted some files via explorer..
Maybe its time to install a new rom like Samset 1.9b
As it fully wipes and reinstalls the os. If you don't want to do that I recommend you get it repaired or replaced. I find that factory reset sometimes don't actually work but a new rom does.

Thanks alot for answering
I've considered it. But I'm not sure I want to break my warranty which I guess flashing it might do? And also, if thats the case, it would be real bad to flash it/void warranty, just to find out I need to get it repaired anyways. That would suck bigtime..
I can't for the life of me figure out what might be wrong, seeing as NOTHING stucks to the internal memory after a restart of the phone..
Noone that has got any clues on what to do?
New update:
I've tried updating FW to JM2, seemed to go fine. But after update/flashing, I see that I still got the same apps and desktop background and such lying about.. Nothing seems to have been deleted.. And now I also get app errors immediately after starting up the phone. Menus and such seem to work fine.
My co-worker bought the tmo HD2 of clist. Everything has been working great for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden today, it keeps saying something like android process force close acore. The only option it gives is close, then the same error keeps popping up. We couldn't access any apps or anything. I'm very familiar with rooting Android phones but don't have any experience in running Android on Windows phones. Can someone help me or direct me in the right direction. He hasn't made any changes to the phone in a few days, the last change (install or a new app or config) he made was yesterday--that was installing the app Good Morning. Because of all the force closes we can't delete the app or any other apps, how can we do a hard reset or fresh install of the Android sd only? Thanks
Pull ext2 file off SD to computer. Reformat SD card put a same Android back on put ext2 file back in Android folder. Act like it never happened..

You may also want to try fixing permissions in android. Rom Manager is available through the android market and is able to fix permissions.
I have a really bad issue with this process.android.acore thing. Whenever I install darkstone's FyoroStone 3.17 build, it runs fine and I restore my apps and whatnot and go on my merry way. After 5 minutes the HTC Calendar process force closes and after any future restart, I get the process.android.acore force close issue, where I keep getting the little box that asks me to bloody end the thing.
I have reinstalled and reformatted my SD card several times. Anyone have any ideas?
Using ChukyRom Tabtastic, TMOUS 1GB HD2, FyoroStone 3.17

Hope this helps

How are you restoring you apps, from the market or titanium backup?
The reason I ask is because if you're using titanium backup, you might be messing with the settings, but that's if you're restoring system settings with you batch also. Only thing I can think of.
Also, have you tried using another build to see if you get that issue?
I am using Titanium Backup. I am only restoring the settings that have been backed up from earlier iterations of the same build before this error started.
Furthermore, I am currently downloading mdjeey's build to see if that fixes it.
I'm also flashing to a different WinMo Rom, but that's a different story.

Yeah, try Mdeejay's build and see if you get the same issue; and when you restore just restore the apps and not the system settings. I personally like his latest Froyo HD.
I prefer the Sense build. Makes me look totally awesome when I pinch and show all 5 windows and pick which to see in front of my friends.
That one is a sense build, based on the new DesireHD ROM. It's pretty nice
Only problem for me is the camera not working. That's a deal breaker for me, but it's still nice to have it on my SD
You can have more than 1 Android on your phone without it messing up and going all wonky?

yup, I haven't had an issue and I've had up to 4 different builds on my sdcard. As long as you rename the android folder to something else, and change the rel_path= in the startup.txt
I use EBL which comes included in the WinMo ROM I use (on my sig if you want to give it a try)
Edit: EBL is the program that autoboots the android builds. Or you can just manually do it by going to the folder and clicking the CLRCAD and HaRET.
Is there any way I could talk to you directly sir, say through Skype or AIM or something of the sort?
