Froyo Available Via Kies -official Worldwide Release Oct 16-28 for Samsung Galaxy S

Rumors:Samsung Galaxy S to Get Froyo Around 23rd September?
It’s always a good thing when a company keeps their word. In the world of Android, it doesn’t always happen, especially when it comes to release dates for firmware updates. However, it seems like Samsung will indeed stay true to their promise that the international-spec Galaxy S (i9000) will be receiving its update to Android 2.2 by the end of September. A source from within the Finland branch of Samsung has disclosed that Samsung’s repairs department will be:
“definitely receiving new software for repairing froyo builds on the 22nd of September, with the build expected to be released on the 23rd”
There are two important points to make of this. Firstly, if this is what is planned in Finland, then it’s logical that the release in other countries should happen at a similar time. So while I cannot say with full confidence that the global release will be on September 23rd, it does at least seem like a good starting point, if nothing else. Secondly, this information only relates to the i9000 Galaxy S. While it is fully possible that the four USA Galaxy S devices will receive froyo around this time, we cannot be sure of this based upon this information alone. In the meantime, let’s hope that this information is accurate, and that the Galaxy S receives its helping of Froyo soon.

I read the news 3 days ago, I know that it is an old news the fact that in Semptember, or late September the Froyo will be launched for Samsung Galaxy S, but I never read until now the exact date

I am thinking that since I was opened this threat, we can post on which country the update will be release when will be released, because I am afraid that is not going to be worldwide and I am guessing that also depends a lot if the phone if locked on a network or purchased network-free.

Well it's not going to be world wide same time. And I sure hope it's not going to be on 23rd this month, cause it's not good at all, if it will be like the release of 9/9/2010 leaked froyo. It is NOT ready.
If they release it like this, it will be like Epic Fail.

I see there's a lot of froyo update thread here, but this article is pretty new, so I guess I'd share it with you guys. (If the moderators deem this thread unnecessary, please , by all means, delete it). Anyways, here's the news:
The Android 2.2 upgrade situation on the Galaxy S has been a veritable rollercoaster of emotions for owners recently, owing in no small part to the seemingly final firmwares that have been briefly posted and pulled from the company's servers in parts of the world over the past couple weeks. Nordic countries have already sample the goods, but Sammy says that a "new" firmware update will be available in early November in the UK and should hit "all operator versions" of the phone (presumably including the Vibrant, Captivate, Epic 4G, and Fascinate) by the end of November. YouMobile is reporting that existing regional updates have been pulled due to general not-awesomeness, so hopefully they'll have a chance to get it right over the next couple weeks before it starts hitting again. This fully backs my other post as to Samsung coming with new improved firmware in november. And also to those nordic countries, which i feel sorry for as nordic = testing/beta, before real stuff goes out (correct me if im wrong)
Well soon as i see that link pop up for UK i will DL it just incase it gets pulled lol, and of course deliver it to xad
RUSH!!!!!!!! two weeks to go imo

Let's just hope they do it right this time.
I don't mind the waiting, even if it comes out at the end of december,

I fully agree with this, along with many that a good percentage of sgs owners have had a taste of froyo in many forms. But we would like samsung to take there time this time and just get it right.... for themselves and from a business point of view and DELIVER THE GOODS!!!!

The nordic firmware is really crappy so yes you can call it a beta version. It is not very good. But when the real thing is rolling out. How will i be able to get it? Reg hack?

You'd better be able to store a post code (a-z,0-9) OR zip code in contacts, not just zip codes (0-9) by then.

I don't trust it. I think we will get Froyo in 2011.

ive got froyo with kies hack but all these delays are bull if you look at the galaxy k or the tab what are the running and getting released with froyo...the galaxy k is the same as the galaxy s but a smaller screen

Because the other firmwares have not been of beta standard? Just have a look at the 2.2 release status without reg. hack thread where you see all the latest releases on each country. Some are stuck in early 2.1 firmware. I rather have a beta 2.2 with all the goodies than a beta 2.1.
For the rest I agree to a degree. I doubt the november firmwares will be that good. I mean that's what people say all the time, "it's worth the wait". No it's not since we currently are on beta software with 2.1 and the wait will only bring a slightly less bad beta-level firmware.

Hi, can someone tell me what was wrong with the Nordic froyo firmware?
I did the registry hack and was able to get it through Kies. I am not noticing any bugs other than the weak GPS (Which I always had no matter what firmware I was running.)
Other than the GPS which is normally defective are there specific bugs with the Nordic version?
Nordic froyo version runs great for me, super fast!

As I have already mentioned in previous post. Merry X'Mas and perhaps a Happy New Year.

This is like the 3rd delay from official sources? I'm getting frustrated about it.
It's like you are waiting for a friend who told you he'll be there in 10min and he arrives 1 hour later. Again. And again.
Now, I don't mind to wait longer for a polished and bug free firmware, but I do mind this postponing thing.

Ive come to expect nothing but this from Samsung.
(My first and last Samsung phone, for many other reasons)

I've already installed the beta nordic froyo 2.2. Does this mean i have to flash and erase all my data if i want to go to "official" froyo 2.2 ?

I'm using the Nordic JP6 firmware installed through Kies and the only real issue I have is with performance. Even with the Voodoo fix there is still noticeable lag in many applications (mainly built in Samsung ones) and the Browser is appalling performance wise, sometimes it lags for several seconds before scrolling.

According to Samsung Arabia facebook page: Official Froyo is next week

I posted on Samsung Mobile Arabia wall in facebook and they replied by announcing next week as the time to officially release the Froyo 2.2

Never was out in most of europe, asia, america. RegHack doesn't make it "official"!

New announcement: Final Date for Galaxy S update (Nov 11th)

As you probably know last Month that Samsung pulled-out the froyo Update files of the Samsung Galaxy S from its servers due to Many System Bugs that Made the Android froyo unstable and laggy. And Samsung UK confirmed on its twitter Status that the Froyo Update is Coming on November on its Final Version and to All Network operators and No More Delays...No More pulling-out!!
We Got Some Information that the Release Date of the Galaxy S Froyo update for USA Carriers and UK Carriers is somewhere around 11th November,2010 as a FINAL Release Date. Worldwide release will follow in few days after the Official Release of the Froyo ROM for Samsung Galaxy S, which Means that All Galaxy S users Worldwide (Include Middle-East and Arab gulf users) will get the update on November along with UK,USA Carriers too.
So The Update is Coming Finally and NO More Delays AT ALL... More Stable... More Smoother, its a matter of time right Now. As I always say "Waiting for the froyo to come-out, better than waiting for it to load!".

Why would you think that? There is no news of the USA versions getting the update anytime soon and I bet the international version will be one of the first ones to get it. Just follow Samsung Mobile's official twitter accounts. Those are the only places I can trust with so many sites reporting this or that with no evidence.

I want to, but i just can not beleieve it Samsung are an awful company, they have improved their quality a lot, but the support for the products is awful, anyway 15 years ago it was a bad idea to buy a Samsung anything, now it still is a bad one. I will never ever even think of purchasing any their products again

@Malicieux - dude, do not expect it to pop up first in Bulgaria, I still do not believe that there will be an update for us, but if i am wrong, i would not wait for it to be rolled out by Samsung Bulgaria ...

Just received the Kies update and when connect to my P1010 it says the S/W version in your phone is not an official version when in fact it is the original. I did do a couple of temp rooting with z4root.
Notes that the version is: PDA:KC6 / CSC:KC6(XAR)

i got the same message on mine. someone else on another thread got the same thing on an un-altered P1000, so I'm hoping it's a sign that GB is indeed on it's way.

Samsung proves it again and again ... never buy Samsung, actually all these updates saga leaves a bad taste for Android, a colleague of mine is a customer of the Fruit Company and he does not have to live this whole ordeal, everything just works, all of the updates come on time and samsung does not produce the phone for his OS of choise.
