Hi, Im new to rooting but i'm having alot of problems. i have a mytouch 3g
Ive looked at every post on many many different sites and nothing has helped.
I try an downgrade to 1.5 but when i get to the screen (using volume down and power) it says the version i have is older and doesnt run it.
I loaded a apk and installed it. when i click backup revoery image it says failed...
when i click the "hidden" button on the right, and click flash 1.4...it says falsh failed.
i tried loading a recovery image and typing it into the screen and it still says failed.
I am competely lost. I want to put on this 2.1 ROM that i found that has the camera working an everything but i cant figure it out.
Someone please email me with the intructions or what im doing wrong. I rerally want 2.1 on my mytouch 3g
I have a T-Mobile MyTouch 3g 1.2 and I have tried to unroot it and load the original rom back on it and for the life of me I can't. It updates the sappimg just fine in hboot until it gets to system and then I get some sort of error and have to reroot it and flash CM6.1 RC1 back on. I have tried running Universal Androot to unroot it with no success. Well, today I downloaded this nice little app from the Market called z4root by RyanZA(I think that's his name) and low and behold it actually unrooted my phone. I confirmed this by rebooting, opening rom manager app and it told me I need root to use it. I used z4root to reroot with no problems. My question is how would I flash the original T-mobile rom if I use this app to unroot my phone. Could I use the RUU.exe or is there a better way? I really want to go back to stock when the OTA for this phone comes out. I don't need to right now, but I just want to know how and try it so I know I can do it when the time comes. Would it be best to use a goldcard after unrooting to load sappimg? If anyone has any ideas or experience doing this please advise and I appreciate everyone here. This forum is great. I am a noob to Android devices and have been coming here about every day to read, read, read. I have learned so much here. Some of it is still gibberish to me, but I am learning. Thanks all!
When not flash a 32A 'port' of the mytouch 1.1 froyo ROM? It will perform exactly the same as any official update.
I was thinking about doing that, but after trying to go back to stock and failing I have kind of made it a challenge to get this done and figure it out. I guess since no one knows what to do I will just keep trying blind and keep reading. Thanks all and have a great day.
Hi i just received a streak (Rogers) with 1.6 7921.
I tried all of the recovery images but they all went to a black screen. The only one that seemed to boot was clockwork 1.8.17 but never did anything.
So i tried to install a super boot that has done something bad as after i tried to goto ATT 1.6 as stated in most of the guides i would always get the "write raw image fail with error 7.
now after installing superboot i cannot get back to the stock rogers 1.6 , all i get now is dell logo screen with the home and menu lights flashing.
updating this device is very confusing to me ive followed most things but i suppose im missing something, maybe cause its rogers? maybe someone with a rogers device can help?
can i remove the superboot at least to get it back to booing into android?
Not Android Development
Please post in th correct forum

im trying to goto O2 1.6 which i think is correct.
re root using androot
Hi Guys... I'm a rooting / modding NOOB so please forgive me if I'm an idiot about something here...
However I did everything the How To: Root Your Android Phone (SuperOneClick Method) and I'm rooted, I got the Rom Manager running and am able to backup and restore my 2.2 Froyo Rom w/o any issues. Rocks!
But as soon as I get a custom ROM installed (or RESTORED) on my phone, nothing works I'm in the MyTouch boot loop... all I can do is get back to the RESTORE screen and restore my original images... any of them... I have a few now... once clean, one with buch of stuff installed, one with just some apps... all work great once restored. But not any custom ROMS
Am I missing anything? One thing I have not done is partition my SD card.. will that help? Please advise...
Anything will help...
Thx guys!
-Zark
This seems to be a common probably for people rooting from the 2.2 update. Your going to have to downgrade to 1.6, root using Universal Androot instead of SuperOneClick and then do everything else with ROM Manager as you did before.
EDIT: And here's the nipple.
Hello everyone!
First off I'd like to start by telling you I'm new here and I don't know much about rooting so I'm reffering to you for help... Here is what happened... I have a G2 Hero, running android 2.1. So one day I decided to root it and install a custom rom. I downloaded Universal Androot-1.6.2-beta5 and ran it on my mobile.
Afterwards I formatted my sd card then restarted the device and downloaded rom manager from the market and flashed Clockwork. After this I put CyanogenMod-6.1.0-RC1 in the root dir of my sd card, tried to install it from [HOME] + [PWR] buttons menu and an error saying [status 7] showed up... Now im stuck in an endless bootloop... I cannot sync the device with my computer, cannot hard reset.. I can access Hboot menu but there isnt anything I can do...
What should I do to restore it to stock and then try the whole thing again but with a new rom? Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
Have you tried running an official HTC RUU? They can be found in a thread on the development page
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
you have to search for "RUU for htc hero gsm". There's an official website for that. Download RUU (about 80-90mbytes as i remember) and start it. As i remember you should power your phone in HBOOT mode (VOL DOWN + POWER), connct to PC and run RUU and follow the wizard.
It will flash stock 1.5 android.
After reeboot it should inform you that there's an update, but if you want to flash different recovery, you shouldn't update your phone.
Then you should follow "How To - Root Your HTC Hero in One Click" (can't post links yet).
Ok first of all thank you guys for the help! So I downloaded RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_test_signed_NoDri ver.exe from the main thread. At first I had some connection problems but then I switched the front panel USB to one of the rear which are 2.0 and continued. Now I'm stuck at a later step. Tried to update it but an error message saying "ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR Please get the correct ROM UPDATE UTILITY and try again" displays. Which RUU would you recommend?
I used official RUU from htc.com site. It just worked for me.
This one is in Polish, but i believe, you will find one in your language or in English

//edit
You must provide a valid serial number from sticker behind the battery and select a corresponding file. It will be only one i think

There's something more about this error 131:

Apparently you just used wrong RUU... Try one from prev link.
Ok, soI downloaded RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver from the official HTC website and go past last error but afterwards I encounter another one. This time it is "ERROR[140] BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR, Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again"
Any suggestions this time?

Click to collapse
You could try the carrier one if you got it from Orange flash the ruu which is for Orange uk
Nope, my phone is from Europe but I dont think I got my cd... I'll sure search for it. Any other suggestions?
Maybe you can find a workaround there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684504
I am currently trying with this one:RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.38_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver. But it seems to be stuck on "Sending.....Updating the ROM image on your Android phone" The progress bar on the phone's display is almost complete but wont move anymore. I have waited for 20 minutes now...
EDIT: I finally fixed it! I didn't realise I had to have the same RUU version like my software version. Thought I had to downgrade. Nevermind it's all OK now and it's time to try the whole rooting and custom ROM process again
I want to thank all of you guys that helped me!
Good for you man
