Do you have the clockwork custom recovery via noobnl's one click (you access this with the phone off by pressing the vol down, power and camera button) or are trying to use rom manager?

I tried both. They did the same thing

So when you try you see the clockwork mod recovery screen (green) as opposed to blue?

Its still blue. So I guess that's stock recovery.

yes- you want to clockwork version - its green with more options. The stock recovery will only load properly signed roms.
I would go back- use the one click root then install the latest version of noobnl CWM recovery- look for any error messages as the script goes- especially "failed to rm ....."

[Q] Restoring apps / Maintanence Update

Sorry if there is already a thread regarding this. I just dont have much time left at home on the computer.
So here is my issue. My phone keeps prompting me to do a system update, but I have removed some stock sprint apps on my epic with Root Manager. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that they need to be restored before I can update. I used the remove and backup method in Root Manager, assuming it would backed up the original before it removed. Apparently not.
Is there any way to find those apps on the interwebs? Or is all this a waste of time because I don't need them to update?
Thanks

Use the first update here to update to DI18. You need clockwork mod installed, though.
Alternatively, you can download the stock DI07 tarball and manually adb push everything into /system/app.
Thanks
Although when trying to install with recovery i get this error "E:failed to verify whole-file signature"

You need to use clockwork for this to work.
Yeah I understand, i think im having some sort of issue though
I installed rom manager, flashed to the newest clockwork recovery mod, rebooted into clockwork recovery from rom manager, restarts into stock recovery. Am I missing something?

ROM Manager doesn't always work getting you into clockwork recovery. If you have clockwork recovery mod installed, power off the phone, then hold vol down + camera + power to turn on ... this should get you into it.

I show that I have DI18, but I was still prompted to install the update. Anyway to get that to stop popping up?
Thanks!

Flash roms from "rom manager"

Is it possible to flash roms directly from Rom Manager without having to start via recovery?
My question is because I cant start my phone in fastboot, recovery, bootloader etc. The screen turns all black if I try anything.
So in Rom Manager there is an option "Flash Rom from SD-card"...pretty much the same that you can see in recovery from clockworkmod. And if I click on it, then I can wipe data and cache also.
Is this a way to flash roms for me if I cant make it to recovery or start the phone in fastboot?
Yes you can flash roms directly from ROM Manager, that is how I do it atleast
nice, will test this! if it doesnt automaticly boots in recovery for the flashingprocess? Or does the rom manager creates a own recovery maybe?
It boots into Clockworkmod recovery I think

Yes it did! and cant boot into that!! Really this is a annoying thing for me!
And I cant run unrevoked again either because I cant boot into HBOOT, so cant install the android bootloader interface. AAAAHH!
Try installing a recovery from rom manager. If there is some problem with the original recovery, it might help. This works by placing the recovery image as 'update.zip' under your sdcard and rebooting. That will her flashed and HOPEFULLY you will have a working recovery.

I have tryied that! Or do I have to do something after that? With the update.zip? Run it via astro or something?

Ensure you have the update.zip directly under your sdcard and go for a normal reboot. It should flash it and take you to recovery mode.

Have that, and have tryed different versions on the recovery, still only black screen for me when trying this!
Have you tried pressing the power button when in the black screen? I was caught unawares when the recovery mod boot and stays in the cloclworkmod image and not go to the options. I have to press the power button to reach the recovery mod options. I have run out of ideas, sorry.

Thanks for the effort! Have tryed it like 100 times, but cant make it into recovery! Have to take the battery out and restart the phone in normal mode. Thats all I can do, and have tryed all different ways to make it into recovery.
(from rom manager, voldown+power), restart-->recovery, restart-->bootloader)
same results every time...maybe works if I get a new battery or new sdcard or something!

ClockworkMod Recovery HTC Hero

Hi,
I was using Amon RA1.7.0.1 till I found this great site. This seems to be very useful for FLASH Junkies.. Please Comment...

Recovery: ClockworkMod Recovery-Hero-v2.5.07
Radio: 63.18.55.06SU_6.35.17.03
Unlocked SPL: 1.76.2007
OpenGLES: 1.1
Hm,easy to install directly via ROM Manager,
but I did it via Terminal app and only with phone,so
no ABD commands needed
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html
what is the difference between thes and Amon_RA?
is this faster, or customizable, or just greener? xd
The main reason i use Clockworkmod is becuase you can navigate through folders to flash! No more having to put them on the root of SDCARD!
Example,i have a flashable clockworkmod.zip on the root then another folder called "Roms" that has a flashable AmonRA.zip, as well as folders CMOD ELELINUX VILLAINROM all with roms in!
When i need Amon ra i navigate to Roms/amonra.zip and flash it, then when i want clockworkmod i use amonra and flash clockworkmod from the zip no the root of sd
Wow thats a good function and a good reason i will try it thx for reply
been using for a while now. is most definately the way to go!
Where would I find the amonra.zip as I wouldn't mind giving this a little try but could then easily flash back is required : ) cheers

I did boot into recovery using ROM manager and then it works ok. Booting using the normal reboot menu gave me a freeze as well.

If you install ROM Manager from the market it will install 1.7.0.1 as an option as well as Clockwork
Help......
I just installed Rom Manager from Market and did the "Flash Clockwork recovery"
Now I have a problem - my Hero wont boot into recovery - it just stays at the "White Hero with black background" screen - nothing happens.
I can boot up my ROM. I used to have RA-1.7.0 recovery.
Any suggestions what to do?
Best regards,
Henrik
try reflashing CWM, if that doesn't help flash RA via terminal.
currently using RA-1.7.0 recovery.
would like to try ClockworkMod Recovery Hero v.2.5.0.7.
will i be able to revert back to amon-ra if i don't find myself comfortable with CWM? if yes, then how? sorry for being a noob
i agree it might take some time for me to get used to CWM.

clockworkmod not letting me backup. Samsung Galaxy S.

Im sorry if this has been brought up before, but i couldnt find a thread with the same problem.. Whenever I try to do a backup with ClockWorkMod(before you ask yes i have flashed it) Anyway i click on the backup option, my phone then resets and boots into recovery, at which point it says "install default apk-files. please wait" and "install default apk-files. finished" and just stays there, with the normal recovery options, reboot, apply update, wipe data etc etc.. My phone is a rooted Galaxy S running stock Froyo.
Thanks in advance,
-b0s-
when you are in recovery what is the first thing it says ?? does is say android recovery system <3e> or does it have somethin like ClockWork Mod x.x.x.x (x being numbers)
It says "Android system recovery (3e)".
Had this same issue at one point, but this resolved it for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4#post10624454
Do yourself a favor and download Root Explorer from the Market so that you can apply the the file supplied in the zip.
the link to that thread is broken.
Not sure what happened but try this one:

thanks for that ill give it a try and let you know how it goes.
Nope still not working, thanks for the suggestion anyway
you need 2e to flash unsigned zips, your still on stock recovery.
quickest easiest way just flash speedmod or voodoo kernel, gives the phone extra performance too.
or if you just want recovery flash CF-ROOT.

Can you please provide the steps of what you've done? You said that this didnt work for you but did you follow the instructions? Did you reboot your phone into android recovery and choose the option for installing the update.zip? Are you using Rom Manager?
You're most likely trying to do a backup using rommanager. Same thing happens to me. When on the 3e screen just reboot and then straight away enter recovery using the 3 button method. It then enters 2e recovery and begins to backup automatically. Or just start the backup with the 3 button method instead.

trouble getting to clockwork recovery

Just got a new Vibrant, and I'm having difficulty getting to clockwork recovery. This is my 3rd Vibrant, my previous 2 were rooted also. I've never had any trouble getting to clockwork recovery, but this phone has been a real pita.
In the past I would just hold the power button and select recovery from the options. Or I would go to ROm Manager and select it there. Now with this new phone, neither of those options work. Any other way to get to clockwork recovery?
I think you have to hold both volume buttons and power until the Vibrant logo dissapears, then it should enter to recovery mode...
That's how it works for me.
If you get Rom Manager, it has an option to boot into recovery mode.

^ are you trying to flash a rom?
check the noob guide, I put a second update.zip in there that is CWR... you will need to have a rom on your sd to flash if you want to root/flash though. It does not root your phone like the other update.zip (JFD).

Wow, that actually worked, lol.
What changed that I couldn't do it thru the power button or ROM Manager like I have been doing for the past year?
I can't say with certainty. I have tried several times to tell Koush there is a problem, but he seems to think its me.
No Clockwork recovery after ODIN back to stock
Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy s t-mobile)
rooted, ran a version of Trigger for awhile. Tried a MIUI rom yesterday. it barely worked for me. Had to ODIN back to stock. (Thanks XDA gang for helping me figure that one out). Anyway, back to stock. Re-rooted but cannot get clockwork recovery to flash. I try using ROM manager but when I go into recovery it is stock samsung recovery.
FYI, I also tried the second update.zip that is suppose to flash CWR option from NOOB GUIDE.. No luck
Help appreciated, I am a noob but I did make it this far w/o asking for help.
thanks in advance.
To do it from stock you have to reinstall packages 2 times in a row then it will go cwr and you can flash from there.
Seems like. everyone's forgetting this step
