TomTom recognizes only 1 map - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

On my HD2 I have installed tomtom 7.918.91.93
I was able to successfully install map Western_Europe 1gb-855-2931.
Now I'm trying to install also map Canada-USa-Mexico-P-855-2934. I create the meta.dct with easytool, but when I copy the map on my sd TT recognize only the Western Europe Map.
What I can do?
thanks

Last time I checked here, the rules were quite strict about discussing warez (cracked Tom tom maps).

The map you mention is not suitable for a WM phone and that's really all i can say about it.
Read the rules of the forum...no warez!

Ha ha , genius!
But they'll never listen!
The threads spring up here, there and everywhere asking for how to install cracked apps.
Idiots
simply install appliaction and drag the maps on to your sd cards root directory.
they should pick up staight away. As for legit whoppee Tomtom taske ages providing support I gave up on them and use a duff copy works first and everyt time. No hang ups and no crashes, no fuss. AI do actually own 3 copies of tomtom 5 and have the enitre map collection all legit and paid for.

That would be asking for warez, in which case please see Guidelines, point 11
I second that, although I am not sure whether that counts for TomTom Navigator.
The software can be freely downloaded from their site (this free software is on the 7500 CD), it is the maps that must be bought (these are not on the CD)...

I doubt killershot20 wants to use the software with no maps - not much of a navigation system!!!
Both Spriteback and Tomtom Navigator on the cd are trial versions.
I already have full versions of both.
I just wanted to check them out, is all.

Can't install new maps 7.25 on Cruise

Hello everybody,
first of all, this is not a post about warez, since I am talking about new western europe map v. 7.25 I have just bought from tomtom.com.
Well, before I had installed on my Cruise tomtom navigator 7 that I got from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401679), and everything seemed to work fine: I could download the free test map, and also free voices. Then I wanted to buy and install the new western europe (v. 7.25) map, that is available from a few days on tomtom.com. To this purpose I created an account, registerd my device as a TomTom navigator 7 one, and then went to map shop and bought the map. Then I downloaded and installed tomtom home 2.3, and I tried to install the map on my device using it, I can see the map I bought but I am getting an error message that says that the map is not compatible with my device.
Can anybody help me?
Sorry for error!

Have you tried copying the card to your sd card? Just to the root folder?
As far as I know there might be still a problem with activating the card.

I cannot just download the map, the only way tomtom allows you to download it is using tomtom home, which says that my device is not compatible, so I have nothing to copy anywhere..
I don't know but is there a update or new version to make Tomtom, Tomtom 7.25?
Hey mate, sorry to hear that you have problems. I would like to know if there is a way to get this working myself before I buy a ver7 map myself.
I know there has been someone else getting this to work in this forum. Maybe you an set the device to something else for the SD Card in TomTom Home. If it doesn't work while the card is in the phone maybe try it in a card reader. Think that should work. Let me know if you have success
Cheers
I'm running TomTom 7.450 on my Polaris, and I'm using the Map of Norway,
Finland, Sweden and Denmark v7.20 without problems. The maps need to be purchased and installed via TomTom Home 2 (Set your device av TomTom 720).

These maps are not anymore available for TomTom 720, at least in Italian site now if you register as 720 you can only buy 8.10 maps that are not compatible with tomtom7, at least to my knowledge. If you register as a tomtom 7 device, as for example a vodafone touch diamond, you can buy 7.25 maps, as I have done, but then you get the "impossible to install on this device" error if you try to download them.
may be it is not for One
Not completely sure but maps for One devices are not always compatile with normal PPC tomtom version.
I had this kind of problem with Tomtom 6 - bought maps for tomtom 6 One and those were incompatible.
After talking to Tomtom support they changed my subscription.
Unfortunately I never used tomtomv7 but instead got iGo8.

Tom Tom Working But!

I have amanged to get tomtom 7.450 and it is working, i have downloaded the free map of London and all is fine.
However i want to add additional maps and this is where i get stuck. I have TT6 maps and would like to use them, i know that others have got this to work. However i cant access using tom tom home as the latest version of TT Home does not recognise the TomTom version 7 on my HD.
Is there another way to load the TT6 maps from the DVD to the device?
Can i get TT Home to work to transfer the maps, i did hear that TT Home 1.5 may be the answer but i cant find any where to download it?
Any help much appreciated
warning on the TomTom website when ordering maps for Navigator 7:
Remark "Please note that maps for Navigator 7 are only compatible with devices that have this software pre-installed. Please ensure that you have Navigator 7 installed on your device before purchasing a map."
The maps for Navigator 7 are 8.15 maps.
TomTom v7 is not supposed to be running on a hTC touch HD
tomtom HOME 2.5 is the one you need to install maps for Navigator 7. you can download tomtom HOME from the tomtom website (one of the few items you can download for free)
I am using Tom Tom Home 2.5 and it tells me that i am using an incompatable version of Tom Tom Navigator for my device and thus i cant install anything, to be honest that is why i am looking to install the maps without using tom tom home, or using tom tom home 1.5 which appears may work with the HD
TT7 does not support TT6 maps,
install tt6 instead, simple.

TT6 Does not work on the HD, and i cant install the TT6 maps without being able to use TT Home
Can i ask if you have TOMTOM working on your HD:
What version of TT?
What version of the Maps?
Did you use TT Home and if so what version?
If you did not use TT Home how did you load the maps?
Sorry to be a pain but this is driving me nuts! and i really want to get this to work
I have been really stupid. I have installed TomTom7 9.10.9185 and it is working fine, I then purchased v8.15 maps for UK & Ireland but the link I have been sent just tells me to download through TT Home 2.5, which as you know isn't an option.
Is there anyway of downloading the maps that I have purchased from a direct link? Or can I get a refund?
ScarySquirrel
Look if it makes you feel better I have TomTom7 9.10.9185 running and Home 2.5.1.36 and as you know I have the westen map.
I downloaded the home of the tomtom site and set it to pocketpc.

There is TomTom7 9.10.9185 with a link on this forum that does run TT 6.75 maps. Look in one of the other several threads that have already been going on for weeks about TT.

To be honest I dont remember.
Here is however what I do remeber.
There was a thread around that told you how to copy files onto your SD card that made Home think that you had a different version as a device (pass on whihc one but is one of those hardware boxes for your car).
I used this and it worked fine, so then Home said it needed to update, after doing that I scaned for devices and it found a pocket pc.
So try the scan for device whilest connected else see if you can find that thread. it was a long time ago, sorry, not trying to be an A** but I just cant remember.

Does anybody already has a solution?
I'm interested in this, too.
I was starting to lose hope with this, if anyone does resolve please post it here
did you get this to work?
TomTom Home 1.5 worked great for me as it recognized the mircoSD card first in my Kaiser and then also a card in the HD. To locate TTHome 1.5 Google: fixya tomtom home 1.5. This then allowed me to move my 6.75 Western US States maps from one card/device to the other.
TT7.910.9185 works perfectly, thanks do Dr_S, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432410&page=10

Tomtom 7.9 and Australia maps.

Just upgraded my Tomtom 7.450 to 7.9 on the HD and my Australia maps that were working in 7.450 are now not working. Incorrect activation code. Re-install 7.450 and works again.
Should it work?
Also. what are the diff between the two tomtom versions?
where did you get 7.45 and 7.9 ? I cannot install my 7.0 in HD it says that device is not supported

No can do legally mate. Only legal way to do it is to buy the new version from TomTom, but they don't sell it for Oz. Catch 22!
The chances are if your unit came with TomTom and Oz/NZ maps, its a hacked (illegal copy).
That would be me, do TomTom charge for the program or the maps? I have switched to Route 66 Navigate 7 which came with an old PDA but I don't want to delete the wrong bit of TomTom.

In theory both are copyright. The maps are the expensive bit, but you can't buy the latest version from TomTom. They are Sensis maps.
The problem could be the maps ... Are you using a v8 map ? v8 maps only work with the 7.450 version ... The 7.9 version can only use v7 maps ...
Tried it myself ...
Let me know ...
I'll keep it all as a backup, just for information, don't bother with Route 66 Mobile 8, it doesn't work well on the Touch and only activates for one device (the old one was three devices).

Not so, all TT software is freely available for download, check the various official fora. Only the maps are protected.

That may well be the case, but it is completely immaterial. To the best of my knowledge you can not buy a legal copy of TomTom with Oz maps to run on a PDA.

It doesn't come more official than TomTom's own website and on their site, they charge for the bare TomTom software? http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=145&Category=14&&Lid=4
If you can find it free on their website, I would love to see where it is located.
All the stuff I have seen looks to be either hacked/cracked/or copied. If you know where it is legally available for free, please let us know.

That's only for NEW software my man, please bare witness to the TomTom Home update procedure which does NOT check or verify serial numbers (as there are none).

Not quite so, but the 8.15.2024 maps seem to be the only v8 maps that work for the 7.910
I use v7.910 software with Western Europe 815.2034. There are several more 815.20xx reported to be compatible.

I suggest you read the TomTom End User License Agreement. http://www.tomtom.com/legal/?Page=Eula According to that, the TomTom software is protected by copyright.
To the best of my knowledge, there is a serial number. Its called UniqueID and it is located in the file called ttnavigator.bif The UniqueID (which is hardware related and copied in the hacked files,) and needs to be locked to the map files for it to work. In the hacked copies of TomTom, the UniqueID file is a not a genuine UniqueID.
FWIW, when I downloaded an update for my 710, it did check to make sure there was a previous version before it installed. So, as I understand it, if you install a genuine upgrade it will work (assuming the map is the right version,) but if you try and install "an upgrade" as a first time install, it won't work.
In short, I still believe the TomTom program is copyright and not meant to be downloaded for free on third party sites.
True, the unique ID is used to lock the map to the device, but NOT to lock the software to the device. As for upgrading, without a previous version it wouldn't be an upgrade but something new.
As for the EULA, the first line states "This EULA applies to you if you have acquired the Software outside of the United States and Canada."
Copyright does therefore NOT apply.
There are no licensing fees or activation procedures for TT software.
Please rethink your statement.

Oooh, that's good to know! Is there a definitive list out there somewhere?
I found this a few days ago. Credit to the compiler.
BTW about the EULA, there are two English language versions and both include a copywright.
