HD2 sync with Win7 64bit and Outlook 2007 - HD2 General

Hi,
my new Win7 premium home (64bit) PC can't connect with my HD2 (stock rom). Driver install always ends with a access denied. Outlook is 2007.
In the past I had no (only few) problems with XP(SP3) and Outlook 2003 and my hd2 and my X1.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the whole win mob sw several times.
What can I do - any ideas?
regards

Are you trying to connect with Activesync or disc drive?

I couldn't install active sync under win7. I had to install 'win mobile device manager 6.1' which ist ok but driver install always says 'access denied'.
The hole thing should last about 20 seconds but I'm working on it severel hours
Ideas would be wellcome.
Edit. My hd2 has settings 'active sync' with 'fast synchronisation off'. I hpe this is correct in english, my settings are german.

i'm usign Windows 7 Pro x64 with Office 2007.
No problems at all.
Do you have enough priviledge when you install drivers?
Did you download the correct driver package?

I'm logged in as admin and I loaded the package from MS (drvupdate-amd64.exe 12.749kB).
Edit: I found a 'trick' in another forum (search registry for 'KLFLTDEV' and delete this branch - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class UpperFilters in Portable Device) which didn't work for me.

Mine worked fine, but I'm not sure if I had to run as admin or not. Did you try the whole right click-run as admin option? Or in properties set the compatibility to something else? Otherwise, there may be a problem with your phone's software and a hard reset could fix that. With a good backup program, it doesn't suck as bad as it sounds. =p

Hi,
hard reset of my hd2 is not a problem.
I have a unknown device under portable devices and after driver update I get a 'driver found' and afterwards an 'access denied'.

after googling this turned up in microsoft forum about getting "access is denied" error when installing drivers:
This issue is caused by the monitor driver update fails to access following
files.
C:\Windows\inf\infpub.dat
C:\Windows\inf\infstor.dat
C:\Windows\inf\infstrng.dat
C:\Windows\inf\drvindex.dat
C:\Windows\inf\INFCACHE.1
Please follow these steps to set the permission of these files.
1. Negative to C:\Windows\inf\
2. Right click infpub.dat and choose properties.
3. Select Security tab, click Edit.
4. Click the current User Account name, check Full Control checkbox as Allow.
Note : If the current User Account name is not listed, please click “Add”,
following the “Enter the object name to select” title, type in the current
User Account name and then click Ok.
5. Click Apply, click OK.
Please repeat the above steps with infstor.dat, infstrng.dat, drvindex.dat
and INFCACHE.1.
After that trying to install the driver once again.

Hi,
I found the mentioned fiiles in \windows\system32\driverstore and did what you told me - but no success Access denied.
thanks

I also have Win 7, and Windows Mobile Device Center. I have had problems with Activesync before, but was due to "Enable faster data syncronization" being checked. However, I was always able to connect with the computer through "Disc Drive" option. This won't solve your problems entirely, but you can find out if your computer will recognize the phone at all.

I tried all again and recogniced that after taking the ownership all is fine but a moment later the ownership disappears again. So how can I do this permanantly?
And yes I tried different USB boards.

THIS IS THE ANSWER
I had same issues and resolved it by using the MITTY without driver solution!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623356
It works - just follow all the instryctions and load all drivers they say!

Thanks,
but this isn't the solution I'm looking for because this is to much modification of my hd2. I just want to install mobile device center 6.1 to win7 64bit + driver.

I never had any issues getting Win7 pro 64 and Outlook 7 / 2010 syncing up.
I did change my windows setup a fair abit. If you are not full admin that could be it. Did you do a fresh windows install or upgrade an existing install to windows 7?
Taking control of folders can be problematic, even with a full install. I still have a few folders being annoying but most of them I got working.
There is a hidden full access admin account hidden on the computer, you might try enabling that and giving it a go. Or to see if it can bump your access levels up.
1. Click on “Start button -> All Programs -> Accessories“. Right-click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run As Administrator“. If you are prompted to enter password, enter the password and continue. You can also open Command Prompt in Administrator mode by typing “cmd” in Startmenu Search box and press “Ctrl+Shift+Enter“.
2. Now provide following command:
net user administrator /active:yes
3. Thats it. The Administrator account will be enabled. If you want to disable it again, simply replace "yes" with "no" in above command.

I saw your post about logging in as admin, but that one is even more admin so it might do something. Folder control is also a big deal with windows now so be sure you have control.
Did you sync your phone with older computers? I cant remember if this phone had issues with multiple PCs in its sync list or not, I only use two and thats what my old one would only allow.

I did sync with my older PC with WinXP Sp3 and Outlook 2003. With active sync I had only minor problems. Maybe it would be the same with Win7 and Outlook 2007 - but I can't install the driver.
Thanks for your suggestions, I'll give them a try.

Sorry,
but I can't get ownership of \windows\system32\driverstore. I guess it would be neccessary but I get always 'access denied' - even I'm logged in as administrator. Why I can't get ownership of this directories/files ?
Sh.t Win7

I'm have the same issue also with Device Center not recognizing my HD2. It will recognize the HD2 as a "Disk Drive" but not as "Active sync" I tried with/without the underbox checked.
I've tried all of my USB ports. I just tried the cmd: "net user administrator /active:yes", but I get "System error 5 has occurred. Access denied"
I'm running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit-Outlook 2007

Hi,
I did it.
Unfortunately I don't know exactly what I did. Something like get ownership of some Files in \windows\system32 (belonging to windows mobile) and getting ownership of some registry entries (belonging to windows mobile) - only black despair.
After restart I changed the usb port and - 30 seconds later sync was running
I'm happy now but can't tell you exactly what to do.

Any of you guys managed to get this to work? Any ideas guys??
Hi,
Yes I have it working with both USB / BT :=)
Try this procedure.
1. Download this file.
http://www.download.windowsupdate.c..._847432eec73e750d6d8056881f52a39fbc94587a.exe
2. Extract it using winrar. This will give you a file "wmupdate.msi"
3. Now be sure to logon to Vista as the built in admin and run "wmupdate.msi" and after that reboot and again login as built in admin, let it complete the install.
4.Login as your regular user, connect you phone and all should work:=)

Hi,
I'm running 5472 as well, but the update (from the file name) looks like it's mean for build 5460. Are you sure this is compatible with 5472? I just wanna make sure because I had just reinstalled my OS and don't want to go through the trouble of breaking it Of course, there's always system restore, but it can be a PITA for me sometimes.
tried it but dont seem to work, setup starts then vista picks up a new device, out of interest what does your wizard show up as in device manager? It couldnt auto find a driver, so i browsed to activesync dir and there was loads of MS drivers, also HTC drivers, i tried to choose HTC pocket pc but didnt work, its obviously not the Wizard drive its after as the wizard wasnt even plugged in.

Oh yeah, now I remember... 5472 was being a real pain with my MDA. I can't remember what I did exactly to fix the driver issue, but I believe I just pointed it to the root directory of the CD that came with the phone when it prompted for drivers. Just be persistent with it, and it should finally install
BTW, the file provided above works! It does install an older build of WMDC, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. The build provided with 5472 only works if you choose "quick connect", instead of establishing a partnership.

I had the Start CD that came with the device put in and it found the drivers needed from that auto.
And sure enough the provided file is for an older build but for me at least it does work.
And it shows up as "your username Windows Mobile-based device" in WIndows Explorer..see attached snapshot"

Oh I just looked at my initial reply and one thing I forgot to mention
I had to run the wmupdate.msi i file from a command prompt, and that also had to be started with administrator priviliges.

There are simple instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723&highlight=vista
Have you ever heard about the wiki?
Vista must die today!!!!
If only new users spend some time reading wiki, everything is there... When I had to upgrade using windows vista, it worked the first time... I just read and follow the step by step instruction from wiki...
Thanks, it's work!!!
Dangit, I can get these upgrades to work when I'm at work on an XP machine, but I can't for the life of me get it to work on my home Vista 64bit machines. And yes, I HAVE read the wiki, and this post, and that post and many other posts that all give the same directions.
Disabling driver signature enforcement on the 64bit driver doesn't do any good either. It gives an error trying to install the driver.
You just gotta love computers. A ton of people can get something to work, and then a person that programs for a living will come along and can't get it to work. Makes you feel like a total goober. *sigh*
Maybe I have an old XP machine gathering dust in storage somewhere. *grumble*

Have you tried Windows Update instead? Apparently you need to update Mobile Device Center (damn-american-sic) to get the Touch HD to work properly. I didn't have the problem due to downloading and installing the updated version in the first instance from scratch on plugging in Blackstone.
Thanks my friend but how do i do that? Pls send me a link.

um... what? You mention Mobile Device Center rather than Active Sync, therefore you must be using Windows Vista. Windows Update is part of windows. there is no link I can give you other than it's in your Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update.
I honestly don't know how you can be running Windows Vista and not know about Windows Update. Even if you have a pirated version of Windows, you should still know about it because you have to disable Windows Update to not get your system to lock up when it tries to authenticate itself on the update service automatically!
Open Windows Update, if you have an old version of Mobile Device Center, there will be an update there for you. If you already have this updated version then I don't know what's wrong for you.
I do understand. I have windows Vista (Genuine) and everybody knows of windows update and my system update daily. To be honest there is no particular update for WMDC atleast i cannot see any that's why i come to you people for help.

Applogies, my confusion was the way that your post sounded like you were asking for a link to Windows Update!
When you connect your blackstone, does it pop up with a message on the phone screen asking if you want to connect as ActiveSync, Disk Drive or Internet Sharing or does it do nothing? If it does nothing, there's a chance that it might have been accidentally set to automatically connect to one of the options other than ActiveSync, thus not showing the phone in Device Center
If this is the case, on your blackstone go to Settings (either Start -> settings or the settings tab of TouchFlo3D then "all settings" on the left soft-key at bottom left of screen) then Communications tab, then USB to PC and see if the bottom check-box is selected. Select the top most radial button (or confirm that it is selected) and try connecting to your laptop again.
If that doesn't work, go back to the USB to PC screen and make sure that the checkbox saying "clear this check box is ActiveSync does not recognise the device" is unchecked. (alternatively check the box if it was previously unchecked, just in case!)
If those don't work, I'm not sure what else to suggest!

SEUS works slowly?

Hi all,
I bought Xperia X1i yesterday
I'm used to check for updates first for my device, but when I connect my X1 with my computer in X1, the SEUS starts to identify my device and it takes a lot of time to do that :-s
It's identifying my device for 10 minutes :-s
Is this normal?
Are you using Vista?
Yes I'm using Vista 32-Bit
My desktop runs on Vista 64-bit...crap...
I've read Vista gives problems to SEUS
So the best thing to do (besides format my computer) is installing a VirtualMachine software and install XP & SEUS on it?

Yes you can install a virtual machine it would work i have try it myself in the past....
Now i have both windows xp and vista in one disk partitioned in two...
With start menu of course...
haah Thanks for your answer
I'm updating my Virtual XP now..
So I hope it works flawless now
I was able to get the update service to id my x1a AFTER i disabled the usb connection in windows mobility center. I don't know if you tried that or not, but it is worth a shot. I'm running 32 bit, fyi
I've tried several times, but it kept ID'ing my device
After 10 minutes I unplugged it..and restart my device
I did this a few times, with no results...
So it's like a looping for me ...
Forget VirtualPC, I tried it and it didn't work.
Here's what you have to do:
Click Startbutton, enter "cmd" without quotes, you will see the app appearing in the list, rightclick it and choose "Run as administrator" and confirm. A black window will appear. Type "net user Administrator /active" without the quotes an press enter. Then close the window and logoff. You will now have the Administrator account available. Logon with it (Usually no PW is required). Once you are logged on, install SEUS amd run it. It should work. When update is complete, if you want to disable Administrator account again, logon with your normal Username, open cmd as before and type "net user Administrator /active:no" and press enter. There you go.
ive disabled my ua etc, so there shouldnt be a problem about admin
i did it with vmware and it works but an annoying way to update
that's foocking idiotic. When I tested the SEUS for the first time, it identified the phone in no time. Now the crap program can't identify the phone anymore..
Mine is hit and miss, but more miss. I am using Vista too...

[Q] Problem with Windows Phone Device Manager

Immediately after running, Windows Phone Device Manager 1.9.0.0 returns the error "Windows Phone SDK 7.1 is required".
I have installed the required software: .NET 4.0 full and SDK 7.1.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Running Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) on a domain, so I cannot disable the antivirus software (Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection).
All other TSR programs were disabled on all installs.
Thank you very much for any help with this.

Trying something...
Ok, I found a way to disable Forefront on the domain computer.
Also have another computer (my home laptop).
Will try: 1. (domain) uninstall SDK and reinstall SDK via MS Web, leaving WPDM installed.
2. (home laptop) uninstall SDK and WPDM, then reinstall SDK, then reinstall WPDM.
Any other ideas?
Getting there... but not quite there yet...
Thanks very much.
It finally installed.
However, it isn't reading any info about my LG Quantum w/Mango when I select [ Device Information ]. All it returns is the name of my cell phone and the operating system/version. All other fields in all categories are not read (have values "Not Available" or "0").
When I select [Explore Files and Folders], I get the error message
"Unable to launch TouchXperience. Please try to manually launch TouchXperience on the phone." followed by "Unable to connect to ... Cell Phone".
Does anyone recognize this problem? How do I launch TouchXperience from my phone?
BTW on my home laptop, Zune no longer connects to my phone. Zune does connect on my work laptop (on domain). Any ideas on this one?
Saga continues.... but worth the effort for WPDM!! Many thanks again.
