Cam chat - Epic 4G General

If the upload speeds are capped at 150 kbs, how smooth is video chat for the other person?
This is meant for ppl who've tried video chat over 3g

Me and my girlfriend tried it with fring and it was horrible, not worth using at all. Never thought that this had anything to do with the upload speeds. Our download speeds on 3g arent that great either so i thought that was the problem. We get 4G right up the road and have been meaning to test it but havent got around to it.

Oh... thats no bueno :/ so im pretty much screwed unless im home on wifi because theres still no 4g in nyc for whatever reason

Thats not true NYC has 4g, in various places. I live in brooklyn and get 4g all the time. I work in the upper westside and I get it there as well.

youve just inspired me hahahh Ive been upstate, ima upgrade when i get back to the bronx october 2nd. I read that it was popping up in various parts of the city...have you tried fring?

Yes I've tried it, its cool but I think it worked better on my Evo before they took Skype away. The quality isn’t that great, but it’s manageable. I think that’s due to the upload cap though, not sure.

For those of you in the bay area...

My first evo got its rsa keys fried so i just recieved a new one today and was super excited to test 4G. Well, in emryville, i got consistantly between 7-11mbs down and 1.3 up.
I know 4g isnt official in sf yet and to my knowledge no towers in the east bay and i have 1-2 bars of signal with amazing speeds.. wow im stoked for the official release! Maybe this is just lack of cell traffic but im really pleased with sprint on this one.

I'm getting 7-8meg in SOMA. I'm curious to see what its like at the giants game tomorrow. Will test capacity, maybe. I know one thing for sure, my iPhone won't work.

make sure you hold it correctly though, thats always the key
in Berkeley I cant even cop a 4g signal. I should try from Sather Tower.

Anyone near Dublin? I'd love to hear if it reached there.

Slow 3g speeds, something is wrong, tried everything!

Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a quagmire. I have an evo, on boost which was working very well. For some reason, i started to get connection errors, and for a while I struggled with error 67 and 104's. Got past that. Problem is that my 3g speed and connectivity suck, and by that I mean 900+ pings and .11-.13 in speedtest, not to mention the disconnecting. Sounds like a PRL issue right? Updated that yesterday (manually through cdma workshop obviously since im on boost) and still nothing, same speeds. Is this a settings issue? Is there something I am doing wrong? I am on a stock sense with root.
I am seriously considering selling the phone at this point. My iphone never gave me this kind of grief on simple.

Well then that's probably his problem, as the Evo is not meant to run on boost. Hacking it to run on another network is bound to give you problems.
First of all it was working fine until recently. That 50 page thread was basically edit the host file to 0000 which did nothing. Anyone wsnna contribute and not send me on a wild goose chase? Cake will b given

No answers, but I'm having the same problem on the Sprint 3g network. Also getting 1000+ ms pings and download speeds have been less than 100 kbps since Friday. 4g seems to be working fine (when I can connect). Don't know if it is a coincidence, but change occured after PRL 01115 update.
Anyone?

You don't need to keep bumping your thread. If you read the post I gave, you would know this is a nationwide issue with sprint. Their towers are overloaded. I haven't gotten above 100kbps on sprint since November.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
And if you read what I said,i was fine until one week ago, and something changed. If sprint had this issue w every customer 24/7 they would be out if business. Again, reading the post helps. STOP digging in your heels. This is a software issue for most ppl, hence why I am here looking for an answer

And again, if you read the data speeds thread, you would see that this EXACT thing happens to many people. Some people will have normal data speeds for a few days, then dial-up speeds for a few days.
I'd say try updating your data profile if you were on sprint...but boost...no idea
I have updated my profile many times with no change. I agree that it may be something software (or EVO) related because I did simultaneous side-by-side speed tests on my son's Hero and my EVO, both on 3g with the same signal strength. The Hero was getting dowloand speeds 3-4 times faster than my EVO. I repeated many times with similar results.
Try that 1)phone>##3282#>edit mode (must now your MSL passcode)>data profile>push menu button>restore>commit mode....that's it. worked for me

Is there a way to backup before I do this? If I lose my boost settings I will not be able to restore them since i am not very good with cdma/qpst
Well In my case it's not changed anything but I got a normal data speed, and anyway you can't backup this settings. Your own risk

Sprint looks to be upgrading their network hard

I had little to no service at my home for almost 2 weeks where I would usually get full bars but as of yesterday I get full.signal again and my 3g speeds have never been better. 2.5/1.2 mbs. Sprint seems to be getting things together

i hope they do that soon here. Thats how 3g was before the EVO and Epic came out with "4g"
although 4g definitely is a lot better these days...i get 8mb/s with a ping of ~50...Its NEVER dipped below 190 until a week ago.
Whatever this network vision thing is, im liking.
Now hopefully they can fix the problem where i go from 3 bars to 0 when i send a text or make a call and then get my bars back AFTER i hang up -_-

I was in Corpus Christi, TX the last few days. I remember the first night I got about 1.2Mbps dl and the next days or two I could barely get 100kbps. On the last day the speeds went back up. I'm pretty sure it was just my modem being lame (EG22).
Judging from similar topics in the past few months, this improvement seems to be the trend.

I don't think they have anywhere to go but up...its at rock bottom already.
If I remember right, a few months ago my signal and speed turned to complete crap. I tether while I'm at work so I can see the difference, and it was SLOOOOOWWWWWW.
About a month after that all of a sudden my 3g speeds jumped up and, most of the time, it's like I'm using the internet at home (aside of the random hiccups in speed). Now I'm hoping for 4g soon in my area

Pretty sure that is the Radio in your phone crashing and has nothing to do with Sprint's network. What Radio and ROM are you using? There have been known problems regarding this with the Gingerbread radios... EG22 still has this problem on my phone although not as frequently.

disregard the fact the "speed tests" showed 40mbps, but his download speeds only showed 2.4MBps...thats roughly half the speed the tests showed.

Pretty obvious the videos posted are all fake. Is it any wonder why the comments and voting for those videos are disabled? Is it any wonder why he tried to make a video without audio? Why is he dumping his "TheComputerMaster" YouTube channel and creating a new one called (((PLANETEARTHSUNIVERSE)))
