Still not getting a signal at lombard and van ness. Definitely got a solid connection in the financial yesterday though.
Yea just saw the news on engadget.com today and I was pretty excited. They said they're getting 7 mps down and 1.2 mps up at Potrero Hills.

Oh what?! This is great news, now I have to test this when I am in school tomorrow. I will confirm signal later that day.
FINALLY!!
Not only am I getting 393.9 kB/s down from the Wichita, KS speedtest server (strangely the SF server only gets 180.6 kB/s down), but I can WiFi tether using 4G, I though that was restricted?!?! Sweet!!!!
PRI is still 1.34_003 but at this speed I dont really care.

Was on O'Farrell and Grant (Market & 4th), got 4.4mbps, 600kbps.
I was passing by the baybridge and 101 connector and tested 4g with full signal and got 6.5Mbps down and 2Mbps up. Not too bad. But when I get closer to Octavia and Fell, signal dropped to 1 bar.
weird; I had a signal two days ago, but haven't had it since..

Not bad. I was at Kabuki in Japan Town and was getting a very nice 5Mbps down with 1Mbps up. This looks promising! Still have yet to get any signal in my part of the sunset, though.

Hyde and Eddy - No go. The Netarchy map says I'm less than a block away from a signal, but I don't see it.
If Clear builds out from currently operative spots, I'll see some signal sometime around... 2027.
We also have across the bay in Hayward. More coverage toward the hills @ on CSU Hayward. At School I was getting 8900kbps down and 1200kbps up. Fast as hell. I believe they have many towers near college campuses, as my friend get full 4g bars at San Jose State as well.

I was just standing outside of the Exchange Place PATH station in Jersey City, NJ, and had 2 bars of 4G signal. I didn't do a speed test, but loaded up a few image heavy webpages. They loaded crazy fast.
Anybody else in the area should give it a go. It was a welcome surprise for me, as I work in the area every day.
EDIT:
Just ran a speed test.
5219 kbps down
1026 kbps up

+ 1. My 3G speeds have been horrible lately.
Ok, Socal is huge. We know it has been located in Costa Mesa, OC, & Westwood.
It's now in the SFV, Canoga Park.
Sprint's site indicates a 'future tower' around Chatsworth by the 118, maybe it's active now.
first of all the image i get is a speedtest app screen capture.,
second of all, scrpints coverage map shows "furure sprint 3g network tower" so im not sure where you are getting a 4g tower from.
waterboy, it's true...I get 4g in Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, West Covina and Pomona......
They are definitely testing out 4G in the area. I've had signal in Irvine close to John Wayne Airport, in Anaheim near the 91 between 57 and 55 freeways, and in Los Angeles near the federal building. So yea, its coming.
i hit enter too soon.
i know that there is 4g up in other places i have gotten it in Burbank and around Staples center downtown.
I was in Chatsworth yesterday and there was no 4g yet.
also, is it safe to assume that any future tower is 4g compatible? or was OP looking at a different map.
I'm no expert with cell towers, but I made an assumption that they are probably backwards compatible. The 3G coverage in that area is sufficient to say the least, so another inclination to question them putting in another 3G tower and not 4G.
The screen cap shows the 4G signal and a speedtest show bandwidth speeds. Was that so confusing?
got some in santa ana!!

Ah, ya I was a little confused by that routing as well. Picked TX for some reason im unsure of.
I think Sprint is rolling them out in SoCal for sure... it used to be I can only get spotty coverage in downtown, now it's improved and in San Gabriel Valley area, they rolled them out as well. The furtherest WiMax coverage around SGV I noticed is as far as 19/Valley.
However I just don't see any signal on Huntington...

I was in so woburn last night and I picked up 4g. Only prob though it was slow as hell. I had 2 bars of 4g, but was bringing xda website slowly. Turned 4g off, started using 3g and it was fast again. Not sure why (using Fresh).
Now you guys are making me jealous. I'm up in the area (Anywhere and everywhere from Revere up to Peabody/Danvers) just about every other weekend...
Maybe next time I head up I'll flash a stock ROM before heading up just to see how it is.
I'm an IT consultant in the greater Boston area, so i've been trying out 4G access nearly everywhere i've got clients at -
Some places off the top of my head :
Kendall Square - good (+5mbps)
Crosstown (Albany/Mass Ave) - Great (+7mbps)
Sullivan Sq Charlestown - Awesome (+10mbps)
Malden/Medford - Decent (3+mbps, haven't tried lately)
Winchester - spotty
Hancock tower - NADA, no 3G either though
Wakefield, Edgewater business park - good (+5mbps)
Cambridge a few minutes ago
9.17Mbps
It's official now!

Maps have been updated, and I'm impressed. they managed to cover a huge chunk of Boston, suburbs and other cities. Even Framingham seems to be completely blanketed in 4g haha.
Corner of State St. and Congress, downtown Boston - 6.83 mbps down, 1.60 mbps up.
SO Psyched. 6.3 to 6.88 in Quincy. Did not expect much outside downtown, but boy was I wrong.

Is anyone else experiencing slow 3g speeds? Iam talking about speeds like 15-70kbps down. Ever since two weeks ago the data speed here in Wisconsin is so slow its retarded. Just wondering if this is happening elsewhere.

yes I tried. They hung up on me once and I got disconnected a few times after that. So I went in to the sprint store and ask, they said that their 4g is down and everyone on 4g is pushed over to the 3g network so that's why its slows. But it sounded like BS, cause Theres no 4g hete in Wisconsin

I been having 3G issues all day too here in Delaware, but strangely 4G has been working flawless for me
EVO on Tapatalk
I'm by the Michigan Ohio border, and I have had this problem for over 2 months now. At home and where I work, I'm less than a block from a tower at both locations, and used to get about 2000kbps down and 1500kbps up consistantly. About 2 months ago, it got horrible. On average, I get around 40kbps down and 10kpbs up. Sometimes it doesnt work at all. This happens anywhere I go. But, once in a while I would get normal speeds, usually only early in the morning, then the rest of the day/night it would be bad again.
After spending hours on the phone with sprint, refreshing the network, and doing 2 factory resets, they decided it was a hardware problem. I took the phone in, they agreed, and gave me a brand new evo. For a few days, it worked better, not as good as it was, but better at least. Then a few days later it got worse again.
I have since done 3 factory resets, had engineers from sprint come out, and they say everythings fine. Whats weird, the other day I was at a friends house, who only gets verizon signal at his house. While roaming on the verizon towers, I got normal speeds again, around 1800kbps down. So obviously there isnt a problem with the phone again, as the 3g seems to work fine there. I have been calling sprint every few days, and they have no clue whats going on, they say nobody else in the area has called in about this.
I'm giving this another month, and then I'm permanently leaving sprint. Data is the main thing I use my phone for, and I cant load webpages or stream pandora.
Sorry for the long rant haha but I thought I would let you know I'm having the same problem.
socal here
me and my gf's epic are having HORRIBLE 3g speeds..100-200 kbps...I used to have ~800..its been like that for around 2 weeks now...last saturday i went to la puente california and speeds out there were ok..~600kbps...but where i live and where I work..3g speeds are pure crap...
No problems here in Sacramento, getting 100-140KBps d/l, 100KBps u/l.
Ok for the past 7 days me been getting slow speeds like rev o my ups wont go over 150kb and down wont go higher then 1mps no more use to get like 2.4mps stable then i heard from sprint engeniers that there gonna realease ev do rev b and wimax wave 2 on new years or on jan 6 when dan heeae anccounce it and that y 3g been caps atm

Someone asked about 4G speeds over the weekend. I could't find the thread, so I'll post them up here.
I live on the south side of Kansas City and at my house I pull between 3 and 5.5 Meg down pretty consistently.
At my dentist's office today I pulled between 2 and 3.5 on several attempts.
My upload speeds have been consistently between 850k and 1.5 Meg.
I'm looking forward to testing at my buddies house. We were able to obtain dl's over 8 last time I was there messing with his Evo.

+1. Sprinkle some of that 4G over Northern San Diego/La Jolla too. UCSD needs some 4G lovin (;
Guys, check out the Map Viewer app for an unofficial coverage map. Works great!
I found this great Android app '4G,CDMA,GSM & WiFi Map Viewer' on AppBrain: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.sensorly.viewer
Shifted from my Evo using XDA app.
Western Chicago Suburbs here (Higgins corridor and north of Elgin on Fox River).
I drove around last weekend and monitored the 4G.
I'm mostly seeing 3-5 M upload and .5-1.5 M uploads (early Saturday morning)
Closer to noon I saw rates drop to 1-3 M uploads. I was driving in some pretty out of the way places and saw fairly good 4G coverage.
I was on I290 the other day and got one hit at 12 Mega (!). Just saw it once
and have not been able to re-create it.
My guess is the closer to Chicago you get, the higher rates you'll get.
Anybody have an idea if Sprint is reducing bandwidth when their network gets busy?
I've got the sensorly app, one of the better ones.
I'm hoping "Open Signal Maps" gets their act together because it is actually
trying to locate the towers on a central map.
Somehow I've managed to buy a house right in the middle of a group of towers
so that I only get 1 bar of 4G upstairs (3G only downstairs). Once I get on the road
I get good 4G coverage (2-4 bars)
4G speeds in shawnee ks suck but they are better than the 3 G ones lol
I usually see speeds between 6-8meg up in Cleveland. I use the Chicago server to test with.
