Hi all mates. We all know that Android is linux based. So its possible to make this platform more powerful by making thus app for android. Its not all about hacking stuff. Its for learning purpose also. So i hope that someone also thought about that usefull utility. So lets talk about the ideas of porting Aircrack-ng to our loving android devices.
Cheers.

You should make sure if your wireless adapter supports promisc/monitor mode.
Yea even tho the m701 has atheros 6000 it can't ****, And its rf_mon btw.

I tried Aircrack-ng on the HD2 via ubuntu port. Installed fine however monitor mode cant be started
That's more likely because we don't have the proper drivers to get into monitor mode, let alone promisc.
why not go ahead only with phones having otg ? connect a compatible card

It looks like there are a variety of other devices that have the same chipset - I've perused around other threads where some people had some success doing it (samsung vibrant has the same wifi chipset). I was curious if this was on any of the devs radars at all - theres an entire community of pentesters and infosec folks twitching and biting their nails over the idea that one can run standard industry tools (like the aircrack suite) on this platform.
I've been able to install ubuntu on my xoom, however the kernel module for the chipset (bcm4329) doesn't currently support monitor mode.
Thoughts / ideas / advice?
I think this would be fun to have....

am interested as well!!
I work for the android development team at Broadcom and I didn't even know that the xoom used the bcm4329. That's interesting. Unfortunately, I can't really give you any information on your problem.

Think theres a chance it can be tweaked at the android level?
Moved. Please post in the correct section. Thank you.
If other phones that have the same chipset work in monitor mode, it should be possible to port the code over to the existing wireless module we have now.
That said, it will probably be a bit of work porting from the version of Android on the Captivate (2.1, 2.2?) to 3.0.

First at all thanx on all great things maded here. Hers is my first post on XDA I hope so that I am not going to miss subject or ask question allredy asked or be miss understud by my bad English.
Here is question
Is there a chance to my galaxy tab be usb host for usb keys and memory sticks.
So i can connet usb and use and copy files form there.
Something like it can Nokia N8 or other tablet devices from far east with android os.
Thanx in advanced
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I seriously doubt it, mainly cause of my limited knowledge on hardware support in the android kernel I can't give a definite answer, but on the assumptions that usb host is a complete driver and maybe even hardware dependent (which I assume would be missing on the tab cause if not it would be a sales point and available already). So my view, 95% sure that it's 100% not even 30% likely that it's probable(ish)
Ice cream sandwich includes a USB host...your statistics may be flawed
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
All stats are flawed ! gingerbread supports near field comms, dont make a difference if you aint got the hardware
So i still think usb host protocol missing from usb controller on tab
So true. Maybe that is what that little USB connection kit accessory was for?
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Doubt it, its just a convertor, to add usb host through the tab socket, it would kinda need host already samsung may add it in other versions of the 7 though. Not my p1000 me thinks
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
That´s true. It´s just a convertor.
I didn't know where to post this question really but I assume that most of you with Galaxy tab 10.1's right now are developers and this question is for you guys:
Do any of you think we will be able to run development tools such as the android sdk, adb, or odin on any current or future tablets?
Or am i lost and this is already capable? I have looked around but using any of those search terms brings up a lot of info on flashing roms and what not.
I ask because i plan on ditching my laptop for a desktop and a tablet as soon as i can. If I can use my future tablet for flashing my phone i'm totally getting rid of this over-priced pos lol
You can run adb on the console emulator. Odin and sdk not likely to happen.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
I really hope this happens. I'd be really happy with just gcc but the android sdk would be amazing. Anyway, the most promising project I've seen is this one.

Hi!
I was thinking to buy a netpc, and I'm looking for a Samsung N150, an acer aspire one or a Toshiba Mini NB250.
In your opinion, is one of them good enough to develop with android?
I'm afraid the AVD will be too slow...
Anyone try them to test app?
Or I need something better like a toshiba satellite C660?
Thanks!
I usually develop with my netbook Asus eeepc. Forget about the emulator AVD: it's too slow! It's better to switch on a device,m a cellphone, to test and debug apps.
For the develoipment, however, no problems, but forget it for the test/debug.
And what about a toshiba satellite?
I have a acer expire (tabletop) comp & wanted to develop for Android. After I had installed all the components for Android SDK & eclipse I found my comp 2 run horribly slow. Now that's not to say you'll have the same issue I'm having but I thought it might be worth mentioning.
If you happen to be leaning towards the acer maybe just take a real careful look at the specs. Android has the minimum specs your comp should have to develop for Android on they're site.

Ubuntu is releasing its tablet version this week for developers, but its only for nexus devices, let's hope this will be available for our 7.7 also. My only dream id to run both jb and Ubuntu as dual boot on this tab

I have spare Galaxy Tab 7.7 that I'm not that actively using, but I would like to try an port the Ubuntu touch for it. Any hints how to start? I have been working with software since 90's but I have no idea how to go forward.
So what I have understood is that what Canodical did was to take latest stable CM 3.5.xx kernel and then compiled their Ubuntu software on top of that?
I don´t know anything about porting ubuntu or roms but this page should help: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting Well at least if u guys are talking about ubuntu touch...

Thx for help. I'm setting now Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my spare laptop (Acer TimelineX 3820TG) with needed build environments.
I have no guarantees that anything what I'm trying will work, but I really hope that I can avoid bricking my gt-6800 and get the cm10.1 kernel to work with the device. After that it should be quite straight forward to get the build up and running in some shape.
Ok, now I have the environment set-up, but there are no kernel confs available. So it seems that I have to either found them somewhere or create a new one and then try to figure it out. It seems that Iocerras kernel is a bit old (3.0.xx series). We'll, as soon as I have something to show, I'll put the information available in the development section on this forum and release the first version of the platform. But currently the image build is on hold because I need to concentrate my daily work.
Will the cm10.1 not work?

There is no build for gt-p6800 available in CM10.1 with kernel sources. I'm still investigating where I might find the needed sources so that I can compile the kernel and start upgrading it towards 3.5.xx release.
Try this if you want the Ubuntu look right now

Heh, anyway I think I'm getting quite close to on finishing the first ever build for ubuntu-touch for gt-p6800...
I had to create two new repositories because the kernel and device configuration that is available is so messed up. I hope I do not have many legacy kernel problems anymore when I'm making the first build here.
Are there any gt-p6800 dev's around still or has the ship sailed already from this device. I really like it because its premium build quality, but I hate it if there is no one else interested on the device anymore
YEAH, first build done.
If someone has a good idea where to dump the image for others to test, please notify me in this thread or PM me.

I really cannot say. It is a development preview of a fully linux system that has potential (yes), but no software yet. At all... We'll see if it is better than meego, android or tzisen in future

It depends on what you find necessary or what you like For you there might not be anything, for me I find it interesting and useful.

I think you are user of Ubuntu on PC, so could you please tell me in which aspects is it good?)) I had never used Ubuntu)))
P.S. sorry for my english))
I use Ubuntu as my desktop OS at home. Canonical is looking to make your Ubuntu phone your only device. Android is a great mobile platform but is not a desktop platform. Ubuntu has a desktop platform and a tv platform both sitting on top of a common Linux kernel. If Ubuntu phone works as promised you'll have all three platforms in a single unified device depending on what the device is connected to. Standalone it is a phone/phablet/tablet depending on the device. Attach it to a tv and it is a media centre. Dock it to a keyboard, mouse and monitor it becomes a full desktop. Each with their own interface optimised for that use case rather than trying to make one interface that sort of works for all. If Canonical pulls this off it will be a winner.

I would definetely prefer a well running Ubuntu to Android. Meaning phone, data, wifi working. The hardware of my tablet is almost as good as the hardware of my laptop running Ubuntu. 1.4Ghz vs 1.8 Ghz, 1Gb Ram vs 2.5Gb, powervr xyz vs geforce 7400m. One device to rule them all .
