There you have it!
Taking that with a grain of salt. I read a Moment thread yesterday where Sprint told someone that patch CL14 would be out soon to fix the GPS on the Moment. (CL14 was an Android 1.4 patch for those not in the know)
Did you follow Samsung's link about the Epic? If so, what did it say? And could you post that as a URL instead of an image so we could follow the link too?
The link was something we all know how to do.

Is anyone else a little worried that both of these images from Samsung contained glaring typos? I can't say I've ever gotten an email from tech support with typos in it, even using the chat client to talk to a Sprint rep online I've never seen typos.
And yet, the last one came from the Supprot team, and this one says "Wer are" in it.

I bet $10 as well.
I was talking to a customer Service rep the other day about when I was going to get I07 pushed to my phone.
She thought I was talking about Froyo, even after I clearly stated "I07".

Ok question then. We just got I07. Confirmed they are working on yet another update to fix the gps due out this month. All while froyo is also due out this month. I betcha froyo is delayed till the end of December. How many darn updates are they going to cram in 2 weeks?

Froyo is not due out this month for the US phones. Only for the international Galaxy S. There is no word at all on when the Epic will get Froyo.
The Sprint Epic Device team is aware of and has identified the issue with the GPS cache on the Epic. It is not addressed in the recent Di07 update. Di07 was on on test and ambassadors starting almost two weeks ago when device team had not even verified the issue never mind a getting a solution from Samsung. Froyo is not expected on optimistically on Epic until sometime in October (advocates/ambassadors have been told this) and the only date Sprint has said is in fact December.
The current workaround for Epic core GPS problem is to enable cold start as default. That is imperfect but ends the cache problem.
An official fix for GPS is not expected for weeks

I'm going to agree. We'll just hear the same damn thing we've been hearing... an update is coming "Soon". That's all it ever is. T-Mobile told me via Twitter yesterday that they are working on it and want to make it "perfect"...
Man! I hope they are working on something better then "soon".
The dev, community here has fixed all my problems for me except the modem... if you are comfortable flashing roms and mods, it takes the wait and insessant delays edge off. They are so sloooow,... with there flagship device? Come on.

Im happy with JI5 for now
But all this delay I'm starting to think we might get surprised with a 2.2 update sooner than thought
But then again this is my first Samsung phone and all the talk about their history....IDK

I am having so much fun modifying my rooted phone and 2.1 that I don't even notice how long it's taking to get any OTAs or 2.2 for that matter.
I think having owned a G1 taught me a lot of patience. The Vibrant is a great phone, yes it may have it's bugs but it certainly can be an everyday smartphone even without the updates.
Take your time Samsung/T-mobile, as long as we have devs and hackers that work hard to help out the community I will be patient.

Oh, wait, IT'S NOW OCTOBER. I guess what they meant is you could look for it in September, but what they didn't say is you wouldn't find it.
You people aren't going to be happy if they release it and its not ready. I would wait as long as it takes to get it and have no issues or less of them. You know if they release it before its good to go and you have some issues you will come back and complain. I would love to have it now just like everyone.

I just googled "Epic Froyo DL15" and THIS was the third result. It looks like an unfinished FAQ for a DL15 update.

So after more than a week, Samsung still hasn't completed this simple FAQ, no wonder it's taking them so long to get FroYo out.
I don't see why they wouldn't push out the latest version. Average person isn't going to want to flash again a week later for minor fixes.

This is really the only reason I miss the evo...atleast the coorperate devs t htc and sprint rolled out updates...they have gotten 3 updates while we are still stuck on di18
I have to be honest, I'm really reconsidering buy this thing. The evo can be modified in all kinds of ways, and it gets updates from Sprint/HTC in a much more timely fashion.
Samsung and Sprint doesn't seem to give a crap about the Epic for some reason, I'm not sure why since Sammy has sold close to 10 million of these galaxy s phones. I mean if you don't support these devices and provide timely updates, I don't see people being repeat customers of Samsung.
This has been my first non HTC smartphone, and frankly its looking to be my last, its a shame too, the hardware itself is terrific.

It's not that they don't give a crap about it. Froyo was designed on and optimized for a different processor and file system. For whatever reason, Samsung insists on using their own file system, which means they basically have to port Froyo to work with their specs. In addition, a company that only makes phones and pda's like HTC, can concentrate 100% of their resources on those products. While Samsung is making microwaves, TV's, Cameras, and whatever else, so they prioritize a little differently.

they actually thought i asking about a phones release. lol
They absolutely do not. I called a while ago because I was stuck on dg17 and I couldn't update OTA. I spoke with a rep and at first she said the new version isn't out yet (I assume she was talking about froyo). After I explained that I know froyo 2.2 isn't out yet and I actually have an outdated version of 2.1, she did a 'search' and was like, your your phone shows that its up to date. I said, no, I'm actually like 3 versions behind everyone else. Di18 is the current baseband version of 2.1 on the Epic. Then she put me on hold to bring a tech expert on the phone. He not so kindly told me updates are handled through the manufacter and I need to contact them. At that point I realized xda is the only way to go

I read a report and folks were giving someone on the forums slack about another article (can't remember the post) about the 2.3 update timings. I just read that it is going to happen shortly (early summer which should mean by end of this month) for Bell Canada so we might be getting it in the US around August since i think it was a month behind for us when 2.2 came out in Canada.

You are correct. The OP is thinking the Telus Fascinate which is T959D and is not getting an update anytime soon. The Bell Vibrant is I9000M.
Also we were the first US carrier to get a leak of 2.2 and this time around everyone else has a leak but us, and to put the icing on the cake the T-mobile galaxy S 4G has a leak which leads me to believe that there may not ever be a Vibrant ginger release.

Like I said guys this is from someone on the inside and holds some merit, but as with anything(and you know it if you work in the IT field) dealing with computers/electronics dates are soft and she did specify that.
For those that always want pictures/proof or it didn't happen I don't know what to tell you. Believe me or not, whether the date comes and goes with or without the rom, and even hits one week later, I am simply passing on something that I was told. I asked the question to someone I know and they got me an answer and I know them to be pretty good at getting info.

we just need someone to go buy a new epic and rip off gingerbread lol if it is infact on newer models?
So I literally just ordered a replacement device, yesterday morning in fact. It arrived today and still has EC05. This is through Asurion though, the insurance company that Sprint works with. So replacement devices via the insurance are definitely not shipping with 2.3 yet. Just thought I'd throw this bit of info out there. It's always possible that Asurion's stock is a bit behind whatever Sprint is shipping out.

This would be pointless. No reason for someone to spend $150 for a rip that is still lacking the source code, especially if this means that the official update is a week off (a-la the Evo 3D).

Dear people with useless info stop posting good info, im running out of thanks!
LOL
Well any new phones probably still won't have it just as far as logistics is concerned. So that's not gonna be a good piece of evidence to support this.
We need somebody who has seen the playbook, nobody in my store bothered to read it lol.

Bad Sprint reps, you get a spanking, and as my wife says, "Not the kind you'd like."

They probably mean that when you order, by the time you get it you'll get an ota for 2.3. I called sprint today and they halfway confirmed this. He didn't admit it but he kept saying an update is "very likely to come soon".

Well, If I ordered a new Epic today I could have it by Friday. Don't think there will be an OTA update by then.

Replacement devices arent brand new. They are refurbished and I doubt they would update them to 2.3.
Guys remember, it happened with froyo also.
But the thing is that they changed it too early then they announce the update a few weeks later

It's gotta be good news in that regard and warrants full rumor status, then.
