My HTC Magic suddenly can´t play videos from youtube. I get the message "Sorry can´t play this video".
I have done a hard reset. This did not solve the problem. Any idea what could be wrong ?
Some new & old videos from youtube needs to be rendered and converted to playable formats compatible with the android system. This can take hours just as a newly video has been uploaded on their data base or might take months, depends on Google.
Example:
Little Johnny uploads a video on youtube. He tries to watch the newly uploaded video on his android device.
He can't, "Sorry, can't play this video". He keeps trying and trying, still the same result.
Behind the scenes a Google employee/super computer grabs Little Johnny's video and converts it to a playable format compatible with android devices.
The next day Little Johnny tries to watch the video again on his android device and was jubilant to find out that the video started to play.
Answer: Time heals all wounds; just wait it out.
I am not sure that is how is works. Youtube works periodically with the same video. Sometimes it will play the video sometimes it will not. I suspect it might have something do with wheather Youtube is able to launch the videoplayer.

Been looking for HD content to feed my Epic but I transferred a video from iTunes to the device and it won't play (.mp4). The disc I have also has the .wmv version but it looks like the Epic doesn't play .wmv files. Any suggestions?
It plays .wmv files fine. It sounds like a drm problem. You will have to strip out the drm. There are several viable ways to do it with certain drawbacks (usually audio sync issues).

There are other programs, some free, some cost so do some searches and see what will work for your needs.
Hiya guys. Was trying to figure out why my video player kept locking up after a video playback. Remembered the old DRM removal trend from a while back and checked and those files are gone.
So, are they still in DI18 by default? Because I don't recall removing them. If so, does anyone have the files handy? (I believe it was two or three total).
If they aren't in DI18 anyone have suggestions why the video player goes to black screen and locks up?
Edit: Running rooted stock DI18. No roms.

Yeah, there are 4 DRM files in the stock DI18.
So they should be there unless you ran an app that removes them, or install a ROM that doesn't include them.
I think it varies from video player to video player which ones break and continue working as well as the files.
Have you tried a different video player to see if that works?
Not sure what's commonly popular but I use mvideoplayer as I've been able to play just about every video type with it, including MKVs with subs, and FLV files.
+1 on mvideoplayer. I watch mkv's often and it works great.
I have drm "frozen" so it won run, and yes, it does effect the stock player.. but who needs it, lol

For some reason, I can no longer play videos on my Galaxy 10.1 tab. What the heck is going on? They played beautifully before ICS, now they play with sound only.
I was using Dice Player with the plug-in, and they worked fine before. But now they won't work. So I deleted them, and downloaded them again, but they still won't work. So I uninstalled them again, and installed the Mobo player. Same thing -- audio, but no picture.
Is anybody else having this problem? I can't believe it's only my tab. Anybody have a solution? Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem after the update to ICS 4.0.4 the problems started.... this is because developers NO LONGER support the ADOBE Flash Player..!!!
Seems both have had issues, so Adobe stopped Supporting and updating and Google or Samsung or both have disabled its functions in the Update ICS 4.0.4...!!
Solution is to find a working / supporting Video Downloader which gives you the choice to View and Downliad Videos..!!
I am now using "Firefox with Video Downloader and the MXPlayer" works well..!!!!!
Just have to test and choose whichever combination works for you.!

I guess I should clarify my original post. I have absolutely no problem playing web-based videos. I have no problems with Youtube, and videos play when I visit websites with flash video. My web-based videos play fine whether I'm using Firefox or the stock Android browser.
On the other hand, I am having problems with my personal video files (MP4, MKV, etc.) that I import into my tab. Prior to the ICS update, the videos played fine using Dice player. And even for a couple of weeks after the ICS update, the videos played, although choppy. After consulting with a Samsung tech person, he advised me to do a hard reset of my tab. That seemed to fix things.
But now, my videos play with audio only, no video. I have installed and reinstalled Dice Player, and Mobo Player, but neither work. This is really bumming me out because watching videos is one of my primary uses for the Galaxy Tab.

OK, I've tried everything, and just now (reluctantly) did a hard reset of my tab. No change; I still can't play most of my video files. All I get is sound, no video.
Does anybody have any idea why my video capability suddenly stopped working? I have checked every setting I could find; I have installed and reinstalled video players; and have even tried recoding some of my videos. They are coded at mp4 with H.264. A week ago, they played flawlessly in my Dice player.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Just got my SM-T580, rooted it and froze some bloatware. Then I couldn't find the regular videoplayer app. I can see it in Titanium, it hasn't been frozen, but not in the drawer. Read that it is sort of integrated with Google's Play Movie & TV so defrosted that, but still no video app.
Never mind, thought I, plenty of other apps in Play. But why does every app play my imported and automatically converted video's in some sort of slow motion? Sound seems OK, but picture goes at half speed. Those videos (imported-converted) played OK on my SM-T320.
Any suggestions would be appreciated on both issues (where is video app and why slo-mo).
