Ok, so I restored my Epic to stock firmware then installed the OTA update that added the Media Hub, then rooted. I promptly restored all the apps with Titanium Backup and they are still not appearing in the Market downloads tab this morning.
Yep. There are a lot of paid apps that no longer appear in the market after the update. There are threads about this around this and other forums. No definite answer yet as to why and when they will return. No definite answer that I saw if it is rooting that causes it or the update itself.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I have no paid apps, I was just restoring the free ones and none are appearing.
The problem is that protected apps are not showing up in the market after the update. It does not matter if you are rooted or completely stock. The market does not recognize the build.prop of the new ROM.
If that is the case I suspect we won't see the market updated until mon or tues. There have been a few developers I know of (not phone related) who are notorious for releasing updates for their products on a Friday and not being around on the weekend to address any high priority issues the update itself caused. I would consider the market not being updated to recognize a new build a high priority problem.

So even if its free, its protected? So there will be another OTA update that fixes this?

I don't think so. Sprint or Samsung will have to register the build.prop with the android market.

Only drivers can be downloaded from Software tab now. Perhaps a new link is forthcoming with patches, or perhaps 2.3?
Right, who am I kidding....
They pulled the update within 3 days of it's release, I believe.
Sprint site did, I believe. Samsung's was still up as of this morning, gone now.
Now I just hope they release a new update soon...Ever since the froyo update my 3g is slow and wifi and 4g are practically useless, It times out so much
they'll probably be releasing a new update soon.
Check my thread in development for the files

And the waiting game begins again. And as usual we will probably hear nothing specific from Samsung or Sprint about a newer update and a time frame...sigh.
Probably yanked due to that big root exploit that made its way on the market.
Yep, but I and probably others have all the files from the site. See threads or contact us if ya want them.

Yeah, I noticed late last night the files were gone. I'm thinking positive here and believe it signals the imminent release of an improved Froyo.

Not likely, since that exploit would also affect all versions of Eclair. Currently only Gingerbread has a native patche for the exploit.

I got the files straight from the samsung website. I was literally about to update to eb13 but after reading this i am wondering if i should wait or maybe update with the roms that are out there instead? any opinion? also i spoke with a sprint store manager who told me she did the update yesterday for multiple customers using the file downloaded from samsung and there where no issues.
Did my dads over the weekend and he told me yesterday his phone is working better than it ever has.

When I first updated to EB13, it was aweful. I can't get Samsungs drivers to load on my Sony laptop or desktop so no rooting...plus all of the known failures.
I took it in to a Sprint Center and they had soome fixes and did a clean install for me including, the fixes. Now, for the most part, all is good. Still lousy wifi signal and no root, wired tether or wireless tether... except through The Hotspot.
The tech said it was what Samsung had given them to fix the update.

Yeah the new update to youtube is trash for me, anyone else?
When I first installed stock Froyo, the original YouTube had a market update. Until now that was the only update. The reviews for this new one are quite bad so I haven't done the update. Can you actually uninstall it to the original, or do you need to swap out .apk s to get the version before the newest? Hope this gets fixed.
You can just uninstall the update.
If you look in the comments section of the marketplace other people are having these issues too. I uninstalled the update as well.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
How do you just uninstall an update? I could've used this for the last iteration of Voltage Control, but I just restored a backup instead.
However, if I update and don't use for a few days and then realize it sucks, this would be nice to know.

Once an app has been updated go back to the market, click on the app, there should be 2 options, open, uninstall updates.
Audio cut out for me too. I reverted.
Audio cut as well and videos loaded slower.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for Voltage Control. It somehow would stick with that lagginess. It works to uninstall the update it was just something that made a setting stick within the kernel

Yep, update 2.2.16 seems fine, but no new features I can tell.
My message to Asus.
"[Problem Description]
After the latest firmware update which included Netflix and the app backup program, I
have found that the touch screen no longer is sensitive enough to pick up my stylus.
Prior to the update it worked near flawlessly for note taking and drawing apps. Now
however I am lucky if it picks it up at all. Manila input via my fingers still works well.
Also, the app backup app does not work at all. It consistently fails regardless of the
choices I make, whether it be data, data and app, or even the size of that I choose.
Please advise if these are known issues and if an update is in the works to rectify the
issues. Thank you."
Their message back.
"Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
We will release new FW 8.6.5.19 for this issue soon."
Just as a heads up for anyone also having these issues as I am.
I want the firmware with ICS please.
That would be nice.....but in the meantime I'd love to be able to use my stylus for handwritten notes again....

I really do suspect that they've halted the current update and will be pushing the new one instead... I know there seems to be conflicting information on that score, but why keep pushing a flawed update when you've already made a new one?

You're correct. On their fb page they said they temp stopped cuz of problems. This morning 8.6.5.19-20111107 is out.

A backup app? Haven't seen that? I wonder if that is in the update they pushed today.

yep just found it. 20 minutes?! Not doing that immediately
It definitely fixed the app backup....said 20 minutes...took more like 5. And my screen is sensitive enough to use the stylus again, though it doesn't seem quite as sensitive as it used to be. :-/ ah well...here's to a speedy update to ICS...^_^

The number of posts that I am seeing with "I modified my A500 and now the ICS update won't apply or my tablet won't boot" seem to be increasing.
How reasonable is it to expect that Acer should make assumptions about exactly what is on the tablet before running the OTA installation?
Surely, if you change any of the checksums on either the internal file systems or the boot loaders, then you are asking for the scripts to fail and for something to break...
Can you ever return a tablet that has been modified back to EXACTLY a factory default state?
Caveat Emptor...
Because there are a lot of incredibly stupid people out there, that's why.

Because 95% of people that, just for example, "root", don't know what they're doing. All they know is that it allows them to uninstall 'bloat', install tools they wouldn't normally be able to run without it, replace files and tamper with code and file content as advised by their peers to get this and that working 'better'. They follow directions to the T, use one click tools or get entire modified OSs and proceed to tinker and tamper with software they don't really understand. When the poop hits the fan, somehow the blame shifts off them completely to Acer and just about anyone else.

I agree with you on most of that, but you gotta remember that we all started somewhere and the best way to learn is by getting right into it and tinkering, I do agree that most people don't understand what they're getting into and simply refuse to learn when someone tries to correct them.

I sure hope so cos I'm getting frustrated each day the update refuses to arrive. To be honest, I think I'm done with Android tablets. Android tablets are meant for mods/hackers. OSs/tablets by Apple,RIM and Microsoft are meant for guys like me who don't want to tweak or install ROMs. When updates are released by these guys, owners of their devices definitely get them without all these hassles.
My next OS will be Windows 8. That OS I'm very familiar with

It was explained on Acer ANZ facebook page last year, cannot recall when, it was either with the release of 3.1 or 3.2, that the updates are done by the batch numbers set by google, not acer. the updates are hosted on futuredial so when it gets hammered it's not even acer servers to which i doubt they have any.
It seemes Acer has updated their Acer Update Enhancement app in the Google Play Store. It's supposed to help those who still haven't got the ICS update. Try it out and see if that helps?

Hey there,
quick question, as i'm new to this, since this is my first android phone. so i've heard that 4.2.2 was released about a week ago. now apparently this update comes in waves, meaning that not everyone will get it at the same time. now i've got two questions about it, since i still haven't received this update:
- is this normal that you have to wait so long to get an update that's already available to a lot of people? (don't wanna do the framework trick)
- what is the purpose of that? please don't tell me, google couldn't handle the traffic when some people want to download this tiny update at the same time? oO
i'm just asking because im starting to worry if there's something wrong with my phone that makes it unable to receive system updates. i don't need the update that bad.
Yes. Don't worry.
I have a n4 ,n7 and n10. Framework worked for me 1st time with all the devices. Its very easy. Why not just do it???

Because i've read that it messes up / resets settings of certain apps.
Worked fine for me.
Clearing Google services framework from the apps section definitely works.
I haven't gotten it either. Framework worked on N10 and gnex. I'm mainly not forcing it on N4 out of curiosity of how long it will take. Yes, I'm strange but not really needing update on N4. No reboots, no butter in the update, etc.

I haven't got it either. Is that related to the country or the batch of the phone you purchased?
Still havent got it either. I dont wanna force it with the framework data delete trick, the update is nothing interesting so id like to wait and see how long it would take to recieve the OTA.

They stagger the updates so their servers don't get overloaded with everyone trying to download the update at once. Microsoft does the same thing with Windows updates but they finish within a few days.
Canada here. My N7 took five days to get the OTA. It's been five days since the rollout began and still no OTA on my N4 yet.
