[Q] Android System Software update!!!!!!! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Well I'm getting these updates option on my Froyo Dakstone build for system software updation, but whenever i start to install these updates the phone reboots and windows OS starts.
After booting Android the same options appear again, is there anyone out there who knows how to get these updates install as Darkstone aint replyin in his thread!!!!!!!!!!!

Those updates aren't meant for the hd2, so it wont work, it'll keep cycling back. Best thing is to find another build here that's based on the Desire OTA update.

I'm not positive but I believe I read that the update does nothing. It attempts to install but fails to install and reboots. You are probably not getting a response on the other thread because I'm pretty sure its been addressed already.
Whoops moon2, you beat me to it.

Yeah, i'm getting this with FroyoStone v2. Downloaded the update, but it will not install, just reboots. I finally gave up. I figure if the update is needed, the devs will just add it to future builds.
I believe the problem is that the HD2 boots to Windows mobile and not the correct Android Rom mode for updates.

Those Ota's are ment for native android phones.
They are not ment for our phones. If they did work they would undo all the mod's that allow us to run android in the first place.

People are really starting to get on my nerves ..... trying to update the OS when its bot the native OS ... bafoons
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Your right best thing to do would be to get a mod to close this thread . Obviously op has never read what not to do and then goes around getting mad at darkstone for not replying to his question ....

So far you can NOT run Android from the NAND, there is a few ROM's that are built very very light and will allow you to boot straight to Android such as NRGZ |LEO|Android ROM|, there is also XTarantula Android: EClair (senseless) and then you have darkstone HD2Froyo v1, which is just the android files you place on you're sd card, so far personally the best version I have used, and finally my personal faveourite as this rom allows you to change your'e android build ChuckyDroidROM 23128 works very well woth darkstone HD2Froyo v1
Ok so this is all I could find at the min, but i'll keep it updated
Also if you could change youre thread to [solved] it can drop down to the bottom and we can link it in here so we are a bit more organised

Nexus One Root/unroot and space pls help

Ok fellas! Im new to this world of android just bought a newsu one last night Its used and rooted. I installed bunch of apps and after a bit it gave me an alert of low space/memory. Never had this with my x10 . so i was wondering may be its cus o the root if yes? Do u recmnd unrooting to clear space? And in case of unrooting any help /guide would be much appreciated.
Also i saw the update alert ast night fo 2.2.1 but when i tried to update it it wa stuck on a black screen with a android(green guy) and a exclamation mark. so i r/s the phone again and ignore the update anyhelp. please...
Thanks a bunch.
The ROM would effect the lack of space, but having root shouldn't. It more likely the apps though.
Just try moving some apps to your SD (menu> settings> applications> manage applications... sort by size [menu key], then select an app. In each app there's an option to move to SD. Some will move, some won't)
There's plenty of discussions on the update, but it's probably failing because you're not stock...

First, decide if you want the update, or if you want a custom ROM...
I've not tried the update, so I can't make any recommendations.

*. Showed still on 2.1 in setting.
*. GPS isn't locking.
*. Bluetooth isnt working.
*. When Im trying to lock the phone by pressing the power button it locks but wont go to sleep(back light is still on).
*. Power button won't work if i try to shutdown/put phone on vibrate/airplane mode/.

[Q] Auto Boot Android

Hi
Newbie here... I've searched for this Q & A but ' haven't found anyone with this exact problem...
I've just bought an used but barely used HTC HD2 with WM6.5 from a friend of mine.
I wanted to have both Android and WM, so i did install RAFDROID HD 4.2 on my sd. Everything went smooth on the installation, but now i wanted that Android as my default OS. Every time i turn on my HD2, it loads automatically WM. Tried to install [APP] RunDroid-dual boot to Android [SD] or WM6, and even when i select Android as default, it will load WM first...
Anyone can help me?
Thanks
António

Can you help me, giving me a tip on how i do that? (it is mandatory that i maintain WM intact on the phone memory)
well if you want nand android than your WM will be gone.
but you can always reflash it back to WM later.
if you do not want WM to be gone you should maybe try a different bootloader

Right, you should try a different boot loader
try this: multiboot: http://www.mediafire.com/?nssn9v0ijoy3thv
You can install more than 1 android build on SD card.

noob here

OK first off lemme start by saying, I have absolutely no idea how any of this stuff works.. -__-
I recently got an HD2 phone that is running a rom from DFT and it seems to be horrible. phone is constantly freezing and having to be reset, im always dropping service, cant sent MMS messages, Internet is overly slow and my touch doesnt want to work nor does the phone like to go into landscape mode.
with that being said, what is the best rom for me to install and will someone please help me with a sort of step by step how to for noobs?
thank you in advance
I'm using typhoon cyanogen 7. Very stable, fast, great build. If your current build is flashed via dft, all you need is to flash clockwork to install android zip from sd card.

thanks for the reply, but like i said, i know NOTHING about this kind of stuff what so ever.
heres the software info on my phone currently
Android 2.2
Baseband: 12.34.50.07u_2.08.50.08_2
kernel: 2.6.32.15=g66f6ed7-dirty
[email protected] #2
build number: 2.29.405.5 cl293415 release keys
softwate #: 2.29.405.5
browser: webkit 3.1
not sure if this will help anything but id just like some in depth help to solve the problems i stated before. again thanks for the reply

funny thing is me reading isnt helping any, due to the fact idk what ANY of these means anyways, id just like to get my phone running better then it is now. I found the rom i want to install though
if the rom has magldr/clk in the name, put the rom zip on your sd card. Find the clockwork mod download and flash it using usb flasher mode in magldr, you can then go to ad recovery in magldr, install zip from sd card, let it install and you should be good.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
someone on the car forums im on suggested this for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
would the steps be the same?
That is a build meant to run from the sd card. If magldr is already flashed you should look into nand roms. The installation of the sd rom is very different than the nand rom.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
i hate using sd roms, they are so damn slow..
well.. upgrading hd2 to android from windows mobile is pretty much easy..
1) flash hspl to version 2.08
2) flash radio to >2.15
3) install magldr
4) install clockworkmode recovery
5) install rom
6) enjoy
if you wanna try another rom, just do steps 5 through 6 and 6 again
maybe a few wipe data/cache/dalvik when you get stuck..
either way.. dont rush installing new builds.. first you snoop around this forum for people reporting bugs and stuff that don't work.. and wait for a stable release
btw, i use boyppc v26 build myself.. a bit buggy, but - i like to try out new systems as they appear..
6 in hd2 on android
Flashing radio is optional. I use the 2.10. radio and all is well. I tried 2.15 and everything was extremely slow, data drops, no market downloads, the whole deal was very frustrating. Tried 2.12 and things were fine but it seems that 2.10 is one of the more stable radios that I have used.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
see now the radio thing i dont understand. i also dont know if i have clockwork recovery mode on mine, is there a way to check? <-- dumb question prolly.
i guess what i want is for my phone as close to normal as possible, because rite now im ready to ditch this phone for something that is unrooted. half the time i cant even use it, sending texts is near impossible on the thing, and im constantly dropping calls and service.
since i cant seem to wrap my head around what rom would be good for solving these problems for a noob, could one of you give me the link to what you feel would fulfill my wants?
thanks for takin the time to help

Well then I dont really know what to suggest.
The only way you are going to be able to do any of this is if you read and learn. There is pretty staright forward guides ouy there, If you can follow them then you should probably just sell the HD2 and get a Desire HD or an iPhone.
If you think you need to post those type of comments here, maybe you should look at other areas of your life because it's obvious you are very angry/weak.

dont disagree with u, TheATHEiST often sounds like an angry little man (no offence intended), but the point being made is still valid,
if someone is having trouble follwing the simple guides provided then they really shouldnt be messing with their phone till they've brushed up a bit on their reading & comprehension skills.

[Q] How to OTA update direct to the ROM

I'm new to android ROM and just been flashing it for about a month. I've found NDT MIUI dev ROM from langthang which I like a lot.
Since I'm new to the forum, I cannot post anything in his thread so I'm here.
Please execute me if I'm posting in the wrong place but I would recommend NDT MIUI dev v29.1 for you to try out.
So come to my question, I see the SYSTEM UPDATES under Setting->System->About Phone..... When I press it, there is a fc and send report. How can I use this and don't need to clean install again when there is an update.

Don't think you can use those updates anyway. Soz, but just had to point out the typo 'please execute me...' lol. Sad thing is, some people would. Anyway, I don't think you can use the updates from that section, just use XDA. You can download files to be flashed straight from the web browser then flash them anyway, no physical connection needed.

Yeah HD2 does not support stock OTAs as that is for Android phone updates, since this is not a native Android device, if you did somehow manage to initiate and OTA update it would not have correct drivers to run on your phone anyway.
Best bet, like posted, is just to download the updates from your phone or CPU and flash them as normal. Check the rom thread to see if a full wipe is required as most times it won't be necessary. Full wipes are usually for switching roms or if there is something major being changed in an update (like a new system base etc.)
thank again.... my last upgrade, i just wipe cache / wipe delvik / and flash zip file and it works so well using NDT miui. great battery life now. recommended.
