I can't find any way to change the APN's in the settings. Does anyone know how?
I tried saying "Open APNs" in the voice dial, didn't recognize it.
I couldn't find APNs in Any Cut
I decided to just edit /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
Is this safe?

APN backup & restore from Market.
Backup apns, edit them with a text editor, then delete apns, restore apns

What are you trying to do exactly? as in, why are you trying to change the apn?
And this should be in SAMSUNG FASCINATE - GENERAL, not development...

Download APN backup and restore, download the file I included, unzip it and put the APN into the APN backup folder on your sd card, click "delete APNs" and then "Restore APNs" and choose the working apn. That should do it.

Not sure honestly. When i backed up there was only 3. Maybe just extra stuff or a bug?

I've only ever had 3 every single time I tried it. Weird...
I backed up from CLB2.3 and had 935 apns! When I backed up from Tainted Vanilla... only 3. Weird indeed! There were 8 errors when backing up... China, etc were included. Hmmm

Doesn't sound like it.. But I'll explain it in detail so maybe that'll help.
1. Download APN backup and restore
2. Run it once so it'll create a directory in the sd card
3. Navigate to said directory and place ivans apn into the backups folder
4. open APN backup and click "Backup apns" just in case
5. click delete APNs NOT delete back up files
6. Choose "Restore APNs" and choose apns-ivan.xml
7. ????
8. PROFIT!
That should do it.
i figured it out. i reran apn, deleted the apns again, and restored my original backup and it works

Is there any way to enable MobileData toggle on 4.4.2 Canadian Galaxy s4 (i337m)
In the T-Mobile forums I found this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43042030#post43042030
But when I try to edit with SQLite Editor, it displays an Error (Error 14)
Well... I tried other way to edit via Ubuntu without success, but I have some clues based on the thread above:
In data/data/com.android.providers.settings/database you will find settings.db
Open with SQLite Database Browser and go to "Browser Data" tab
Select "System" in table and scroll down until you find this value name: notification_panel_active_app_list
In "value" you will find all the features enabled (Wifi;Location;SilentMode...etc.)
But if you put "MobileData;" after "AirplaneMode" value, save and pull to the original place fixing permissions with root explorer, you will get a eternal Samsung logo after reboot... so
Is there a way to enable toogles in Quick Settings?

What I did was replace system.apk and system.odex. backed them up and replaced with system.apk grin Maple Leaf ROM.
This showed me to use the sqlite editor method.

You know like onthis picture.
the easiest way is to root your device, then install wanam xposed. There is a setting there to enable/disable them. I can't do it on mine because i don't want to root yet...
you can edit a file on the phone with a root browser to do it as well, google will find a dozen guides on XDA.
its called "Secondary Symbols"
Look for a folder called csc in file system. When you find it there should be a file called others.xml. edit this file. Add these lines to it:
<!-- SIP -->
<CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>true</CscFeature_Sip_UseSymbolInCMKey>
<CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>en_GB;en_US;az;ca;cs;da;de;et;es_ES;eu;el;fr_FR;ga;gl;ka;hr;it;is;kk;lv;lt;hu;nb;nl;pl;pt_PT;ru;ro;fi;sr;sk;sl;sv;tr;uk;ko;hy;bg;ar;fa;ur;iw;ja;th;vi;zh;uz;in;mk;ms</CscFeature_Sip_EnableSymbolInSecondary>
Phone must be rooted to do this
Hello fellows XDA, after updating my G928T to marshmallow, I can't seem to find setting.db under sqlite or even searching the file doesn't come up in /data/data/com.android.providers.setting/databases. Does anyone know where I could find this file or what may happen to it? Thanks all!

I found some details here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...e-settings-how-to-toggle-ringtone-vibration-i
from that page:
"move system settings from db to xml
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/../settings.db --> /data/system/users/userid/settings_[system|global|secure].xml"
For me it was "/data/system/users/0/settings_system.xml" and I was able to use Root Browser to find and edit it. The file is very long and hard to navigate (i was just using root browsers editor which has no search function) but I was able to add hotspot toggle on my S5 by editing it, just like I used to with the old settings.db

I was able to find it, but after editing and given the right permission also restarted, the setting reset to default and the new changes didn't stick in the new file.

I mean the setting used to be stored in a .db file, but (because samsung changed it i guess) it is now stored in a .xml file. no need to rename anything, just edit the xml.

If i recall correctly there are 2 entries pertaining to the toggles and one seems to overwrite the other on boot. Make sure to change both if anyone is still trying to do this. If that doesn't work then I don't know what I did to make it stick.

I found that xml, I copied it on my pc, opened in browser but in that xml I couldn't find anything related to mobile data toggling, or notification toggling like this: notification_panel_default_active_app_list. Could you pls tell me how did you manage to add mobbile data toggle using this method? I'm on Sprint N920P. Thanks in advance
Just got my S7 and I'm on PE1...started on PF2, but had trouble rooting...not sure if it was because it was midnight when I started or I missed a few steps. The process went much better this morning.
Anyway, when I did ##DATA#, hit edit, typed in MSL, APN settings, APN2 LTE internet, my APN type was also grayed out. However, @Soooperstar sent me the hiddenmenu folder with the apk and odex. This may only work on Sprint ROMs and not the U version (feel free to try though).
Get a root explorer and go to system>app . Copy the hiddenmenu folder to someplace on your internal or external storage. Take the contents of the attached Zip and copy them into the system hidden folder. It should replace the old hiddenmenu.apk and oat folder. Permissions should be set correctly. If not, the hiddenmenu.apk and oat>arm64>hiddenmenu.odex should be rw-r-r . The directories should be drwxr-xr-x. But they should be fine if you copy and replace/merge.
Reboot phone
Go to phone app, and type ##DATA# (##3282#). hit Edit, type in MSL, APN settings, APN2 LTE internet, APN type....you should be able to now edit those and add the < ,dun >. You'll have to do it for both...APN2 LTE and APN2 EHRPD. Then go to settings>Hotspot and Tethering> and turn it on.
Someone test this method. 1 of 2 things caused my hotspot to work...I think it was this though. I just received my phone yesterday and it shipped with PE1 and my hotspot didn't work before this and asked me if I wanted a subscription.

Some people here and at the S7 edge forum said that it was still grayed out. Mine was grayed out until I replaced the files, it was the only way I could change it. I'm still wondering if anyone tried editing the telephony.db file to get it to work.
If you didn't root, it will still be grey
