It's interesting to note that they explicitly avoid any mention of GPS and go out of their way to say it won't fix all performance issues. They must be waiting on FroYo
Makes me wonder if T-mobile scrapped the eclair update so the wouldn't need to support two updates in short succession. Since the Vibrant is the closest to the international version one would think our updates would cone first.

Google's update servers are currently down in preparation for the OTA. A lot of people are having this issue right now.

Everyone is having error. Probably getting ready for new update tonight.
TL;DR - Try again tomorrow
The servers are getting ready for the new update that comes out tonight and will be available to everyone by March 24th. If you look around the forums, you will see people talking about the newest update: EC05.
I thought I was the only one, but haven't had no time to look around see the forums. I been working for a good part of the day, and had no time to investigate. Thanks everyone for replying.
Yeah this started happening to my phone the other day. I had to take it in to Sprint and they are going to replace it with another one. (Refurb). I tried to argue with them and have exchange with a brand new one but they wouldnt go for it. Does anyone know if flashing the new EC05 will fix this?? I have flashed so many ROMs and nothing worked. If anyone has a fix please chime in. I am very curious to know if this is fixable. If not its cool cuz Im getting a replacement tomorrow.
From what I read on another post, everyone has the same issues. It is Sprint. I am not sure why they would block certain phones from getting a prl or profile update. It makes no sense to me. Seems they would have better IT management plan than this. Other phones like the EVO have already received an prl update 60677. I have heard of some EPIC's never receiving this issue, and I have read some had the issues then disappear, and some re-appear. Most have the same issues as us.

There's a big froyo update for the samsung epic 4g rolling out between tonight and th 24th, so the update servers have been unavailabe while they prepare... I have no proof of this, but it seems a logical deduction.

Hey people what ever you do don't take your phone to the store or repair center. Do you really want a piece of **** refurbished EPIC? I purchased my phone new 2 months ago, out right. There is no way in hell that one of those Sprint TECH's will take my phone to replace for theirs. They will do it. SIDE NOTE: I did try FIRMWARE, PROFILE, AND PRL this morning and they worked except no update. Better than yesterday. It is SPRINT with their update servers. Seems everyone will have to wait for someone to push a rom, the update online for us, or just wait for the OTA.
The title is self explanitory. Last time I could update was just before the EC05 update was pushed ota. Since then, I haven't been able to update either. There's another thread about a possible solution involving quiting the process early, but it doesn't seem to do anything. So am I the only one with this problem, and are there any solutions?

Having it for awhile doesn't mean it isn't known.
I have this issue since EC05 and never before or I think is the rom I am using midnight 5.01
I can't do profile update nor prl at all.
Actually when I was stock rooted EC05 I was able to update but since custom rom it is not possible.

It is a Sprint issue. Apparently there was a problem with 60677 so for most phones they stopped the ability to manually update prl. A lot of people have found who made it to 60677 that Sprint pushed a prl update to their phone (custom ROMs or not) and rolled it back to 60676. It has been discussed and marked as a known issue by Sprint reps on the Sprint Community forum.
Is this a sprint wide problem or is specific to just the epics? I mean, are other sprint phones such as the evo ans evo shift unable to update either?

I believe it's just specific to Epic.
I just updated PRL for my wife's Samsung Moment and my mother-in-law's Samsung Transform without a problem.
Yep, I've had issues updating the PRL since I got the phone I think lol
my last Epic had this problem after the update (maybe 2 or 3 days before it got pushed). since then, I've taken it into sprint to get it replaced to possibly remedy the keyboard skipping keys (didn't fix it lol).
my replacement Epic has been updating PRL and Profile just fine since I first booted it up.....

yea that happened with another one of my Epics (this is my fourth), and they replaced that one with my (third?) and it was fine until the update, which borked it also...
My Epic has never successfully updated its PRL when i tried to. I always do it manually with QPST. No big deal for me. Manually updated to 60677 sometime ago when the file came out.
I went back to DI18 today and updated to EC05. Completely stock, no mods, still unable to update PRL. I was at the Sprint store for 3 hours today and they still couldn't get it fixed. They called in to corporate and even "refreshed" my device, still nothing.
I have another Epic coming in a few days. The tech disassembled my phone to try and fix the wobbly keyboard but didn't have much luck.
While I was in there, a guy with an intercept came in and was having the same exact issue. It's not just the Epic. I think it's all Sprint devices. Even the tech couldn't update his PRL on his Evo
Yes, this is a Sprint issue since they recalled 60677 and are rolling back people with a pushed prl to 60676. Reps have confirmed this on Sprint Community Forum.
Running Epic EC05-rooted-SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0-Twilight 1.0.4 kernel, no issues updating to PRL 60676 but will not update past that.

This came out the same day Sprint fixed PRL updating so it does nothing. PRL updating is working on 95% of the phones now. PRLs are being released by area. For most people 60676 will be the highest as seen when Sprint rolled me back yet again last night.
EDIT 2: It appears to be up OTA so connect to wifi and check for an update!
Edit for those who just came here to figure out what was going on with 1.83:
It would appear that some sort of error occurred in which the beta of 1.83 was released OTA to a few people and to even more through the computer connect update software. This is why people were reporting that they had had success downloading the new update. However it was not available for everyone and appears to have been pulled completely. Things were made more confusing because AT&T and Motorola both appeared to make some false claims that the new update was beginning its release on April 29th. However this was a mistake and they later retracted their claims either by deleting the comment altogether or saying that they meant that the beta would be released to limited amounts of people at that time. This appears to be the cause of all of the confusion, but the bottom line is that the official update is NOT out yet, and if you want the 1.83 beta that others have gotten, check around, it isn't too hard to find!
Original post:
So I came across an AT&T answers page actually listing 4.1.83 on the site which said it was available and all I had to do was connect to wifi and check for updates to get it.
So I think "SWEET!" and try it, but still no luck
By this time I figure alright if AT&T is listing this but it's not up may as well go ahead and bother their tech support for a while and see if I get any answers
They take a LONG time to answer my question and eventually tell me that there is no 1.83 update. To which I reply "Excuse me, BS, here is exactly what YOUR site says" -copy, paste, and post link to it-
They take a long time, then completely ignore it and tell me to access my phones settings and tell them what software version I am running.
Meanwhile I get a little suspicious about whats going on and open a new window and follow the link I sent them.
It had been edited WHILE I was talking to them! The 1.83 part had been completely taken out. All that was left was the 1.57 update. The tech support person continued to play dumb and tell me there was only a 1.57 update and that I could contact motorola if I had any more issues.
I'll post a screenshot of what the site said when I accessed it this morning. I don't know if the info on that page is old news to these forums or when it even went up, but At&T certainly has their heads up their asses.
Oops, forgot about that mention. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Did you tell them there are even websites with benchmarks out there like
Anandtech?

I talked with them a bit more after posting.
I told them that this was not a Motorola issue, and that I now wanted to know what had happened with the AT&T site and that I saw that it had been edited. They continued to post more Motorola contact info and asked if they could help me in any other way.
I told them that they could start by actually reading what I was typing to them, and repeated that the page had been edited. I am subjected to more waiting until finally the associate tells me they "didn't see" the second update before, but now they know what I am talking about. The page is still edited so I have no idea how they saw it right then... but yeah.
They then ask me to connect to wifi and try to perform the update. Told them I already did. They then say, that maybe AT&T recalled the update and tell me to wait. I wait. Then they come back asking if I have contacted motorola, I tell them no. They then link me to a post in motorolas forums and tell me to check there.
The thread I am linked to is merely people complaining about the same page on AT&T that I was referring to in the first place... with no answer on it as to what was going on, when I point this out the associate remains silent. I continue to do other things on my computer checking back every few minutes. After 10 minutes of silence I go ahead and tell them that I could see that they were not even going to try to help me and closed out the conversation.
Disappointing, though I am now reasonably certain that I am the reason the page got edited haha
OTA
So do we know if anybody has gotten the update OTA or has it all been "self-help" installation. AT&T changing their website makes it appear delays to OTA update. Question remains, is it becuase of AT&T or Motorola?
That's classic, I wonder what they would say if I walked into a store and asked about the 1.83 update, especially since I have it on my phone already so I can prove it exists.

My guess would be att, since Motorola had it officially on one of their websites for a USB link update
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
If you check the motorola owners forums, they say the update hasnt officially been publicly released although, many ppl besides beta testers were able to snag the update before it seemed to have been pulled. You can always download the 1.83 SBF thats floating around and flash to it.
Nothing new here. AT&T sticking thier heads and the sand and ignoring the customer. Can not/will not even respond to direct legitimate questions. Maybe it is time to try to get their attention another way. here is the link where you can post comments to the FCC concerning their attempt to monopolize. http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/
I think everybody that has an issue with at&t's customer support, rate plans, crippling devices, false advertising, etc., that have tried to get answers or support with no satisfaction should make these issues known. If the congressional reps on the committees start asking the same questions we have, then maybe, just maybe, att will understand we are customers, and not just a source of income. Maybe I should start a thread just for this so we get as many people as possible to send their thoughts along.
I've been running 1.83 since the 29th and I'm not a beta tester. I actually got it by downloading the Motorola software Updater from here http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdateSummary.asp?country=USA&language=ENS&web_page_name=SUPPORT&strCarrierId=ATT&strPhone=Motorola%20ATRIX(TM)%204G&strCable=Micro%20USB%20Data%20Cable&strURL=https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/SoftwareUpdateforATTATRIX4Gversion.4.1.57.pdf.
All I did was plug my phone in and it looked for an update for like 5 minutes then said there was one available and asked if I wanted to install it (Of course yes) 15 min later it was done. I actually flashed back to 1.26 3 times and updated to 1.83 like this because I messed up root (Come to find I just needed gingerbreak). Some people can't get it so I'm not sure if they took it down from moto or what the deal was. Everything on the page says 1.57 but it still let me update to 1.83 multiple times so I donno.

I'm pretty sure it was the morning of the 29th.
It was working, but has since been pulled. I saw both the AT&T page as well as the Moto update. Neither are working now.
Ima stop by the store and inquire about it there, see how interesting that conversation is as soon as I'm done at the gym since there's an official att store right next door, talk about convenient.

Well, that turned out to be as pointless as I expected it to be, no one had any clue what I was talking about or why the update would be there one minute then all traces be gone the next. Their only suggestion was maybe there was a bug in it.

From what i've read, i'm guessing the 1.83 update is still in beta testing, but for some reason someone in ATT's dev team messed up and relayed it as "release" to another ATT team and motorola, who put it up on their websites as available for download without further questioning. If anyone got it through OTA, they might have been part of the first wave before someone in ATT realized the mistake and pulled the update out.
Then ATT decided to go for a "what update?" policy instead of "whoops."

It was a rather lengthy update process with two reboots involved.

Not to sound like a douche, but I think it's pretty obvious that Sprint & HTC plan on releasing an update that would fix the problems presented with the GB update.
There was the 4.22 update,GB
Then the 4.24 update,GB fix,
Are you guys saying there is a 3rd update being pushed?
